The mastermind's pistol (quick single shot anyway) sounds like it fires mashed potatoes, it's a really weak sound.
Yeah the thugs were hard to control and I was a touch perturbed by the change in thug appearance from summon to summon. Blond hair to dark hair on a soldier mastermind isn't too troublesome, but when you appear to get a totally different thug each time it kinda negates the need to name them.
I'm liking the dual wield and pistol whipping and sideways 'pimp' shooting.
[/ QUOTE ]
I just got my 2nd Thug last night. I spent a lot of time on my 40 Brute trying to get him to 41. I like the addition of the tattoo's, but I agree with what was previously said about not having them stay the same as you summon them. The one I named Sammy died and came back looking like Frankie, the other Thug pet. Would it be any trouble to have them remain the same upon each summons as far as looks go? Also, just a tad disappointed at the animation to upgrade. It's the same as the MM with the soldiers. Is this something that will be permanent? On the positive side, I do like the whistle for the summons. I love the Dual Pistols and it's animation. Very cool.
Edit: forgot to mention that they have some control issues. My guys wander around like little kids who have just arrived at a Fair for the first time. And when I tell them to follow, they reply, "Whatver." Ha! -

I don't like the new numbers. Even with the increased ability to generation Domination faster, the Dominator also had toggle drops. Their offensive output is god awful. The Dominator's Total Focus barely reachs the respectable damage than a Blaster's Bonesmasher.
I could understand dropping Blaster's toggle drops to at most around the 50% mark and applicable on one attack, but Defenders and Dominators are now pretty worthless in those regards. Thorns doesn't get its 64% toggle drop until level 35 with Ripper, and that power's animation is a bit on the long (not to mention excessibly flamboyant) side.
Sorry, no dice here. Try again.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ya. No kidding. I can be one-shotted in the time it takes Ripper to complete animation at which point I say, who cares if I dropped their toggle? I'm dead. -

Okay. Here is what is most wrong with Doms, and here is how to fix it.
What is wrong with Doms is that their inherent power only works to their advantage a fraction of the time. You cannot say that about ANY other AT (except perhaps Defs, who need to be on a team to benefit from Vigilance). There is absolutely no difference between a Dom at 5% Domination and a Dom at 85% Domination. Even a Dominator with a full bar will often sit on it, saving it up for a boss fight, battling through fights in which it does them no good at all - what other AT has to do anything of the kind, ever?
This makes PvP especially insane. We have scant chance of winning unless we have Domination up, and to get Domination up, we have to enter fights in which we have scant chance of winning. It's a Catch 22.
Here's what to do to fix it. Let our damage increase as our Domination bar increases, much like Fury, but obviously at Domination pace instead. Once the bar is full, we ought to be dealing equivalent damage to that which we do when Domination is activated. However, we won't have the bonus to control mag and duration that activated Domination gives.
We will then have to make a tactical choice: keep the bar full and continue to deal good damage, OR activate Domination in order to get a brief period of good damage AND good control, only to see it drop back down to zero when that expires.
Hey presto. Doms become viable.
[/ QUOTE ]
I kind of was thinking along those lines but was thinking that with both increased Control and Damage. I knew that no one would go for that. Admittedly, it would be too powerful. But I like your idea of just the damage escallating. (sp?)
I kind of feel for Dom's with this issue like I did with my Blasters and their inherant ... you know, the invisible inherant. The one they refuse to make more adventagous with at least some reguard to the Blaster surviving. (oops...not a Blaster thread. Sorry!) It least we get 90 seconds. They get faceplanted. I guess we're lucky?
or maybe just related.
-
so lemme get this straight. I have a Fire/Ice Corruptor. None of my attacks or debuffs drop toggles?
-
[ QUOTE ]
Frankly I think that the domination boost should be lowered by 50% and have the standard attacks boosted in damage to compensate. The domination bonus of increased duration, mag and endurance refill is enough without making it the sole way for a dominator to deal damage. Give it a minor damage boost rather than a major one and tip the scales for the more attacks.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm sorry if I have repeat post after post but I am starting at the beginning and reading through. Comments will be the same.
Tal... no offense, but I'd just rather stay the way live is now. Why? At least these rules of play that we have now is something I am used to. I can hold the Big Bosses at the end of a mission and with a couple of reds I can take them out before Dom is over with. This is solo. I'd just rather keep it that way rather than having my damage cut and having to team because 1/2 my Acc and Dmg boost is gone.
It doesn't take forever for me to get Dom up but I sure as heck don't use it til I need it. Why? Because while it doesn't take forever now, it takes more than long enough. The only thing that I can say is that I'm ready to run with Brutes because I have to go-go-go to keep the bar from falling.
Now all this is based on me having a Mind/Thorn Dom level 29 and a Fire/Energy Dom only level 6. So maybe my thinking is just one-sided based on my AT. I do think an increase in damage would be nice, even if it was slight. I can solo fine, but all through my Dom's career, almost every mission is so long because the secondary attacks don't deliver on damage.
Survival is not my issue at all. Damage, however, is one of them. I just don't think anything needs to be traded to get it. -
[ QUOTE ]
I love the changes to domination. I do find that damage is still too low even with domination running. In PvP I find that controls come a dime a dozen, and due to that, most come prepared. With our controlling abilities mostly negated, that leaves us with our damage. Yet we have subpar damage therefore even with domination running, I'm not much use for my team, against any decent team. Would we really be overpowered if we did more damage? I don't think we'd be.
I may be the only one that feels this way, so my opinion may not mean much.
[/ QUOTE ]
Are you being sarcastic? From your own explaination, what is there to love? I just don't get it. I didn't want to jump on the complaint train, but as far as changes go for Dom's I can sum it up in one word.
Whatever.
My Dom doesn't PvP. He might run some missions in the zone, but avoids everyone when it is at all possible. Why? Oh, because a Controller of the same level can rip right through me like a lawnmower on a Sunday. Give my Dom a little Containment instead of this temporary Domination stuff and maybe then I could show them a thing or two.
I do appreciate the removal of the pauses after animation on Confuse. Other than that I see no positives for my guy. Thanks. -
Agreed. Maybe it's a bug. Did you report it? They'll tell you if it is working as intended. I hate when they do that, but that has been my experience.
Just as a note: I had a mission that mentioned that a Hero would be present. I got to fight Luminary. She appreared as an EB for the Viscious setting. Scared the be-jezzuz outta me because she was where I least expected her. -

try to answer this: lets say i'm your commanding officer and i tell you to spare the life of a hero raider we found in are base. what do you do?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well since I resent Rulers of any kind and you think you were my commanding officer, I'm afraid I would have to shoot you with your own gun. Then I'd wastse the hero and put you both into bed together in a comprimising postion and call the local newspaper. If you think this reply is silly, it's just a sliver of this posts' silliness. -

Irregardless of being derailed, I think this thread has reached the end of its lifetime as a useful Q&A thread by virtue of being Way Long.
[/ QUOTE ]
Gah! Pet Peeve! It amuses me and stupifies me to no end to see people use a word like Irreguardless. It's not a word. Gaaahhhhh!!!!
....sorry. Just insert the word "anyway" if you are a little blurry on the use of Regardless. You're saying "Not reguardless" with a word that is not a word.
...there I go again. Sorry sorry. The class of English 101 is now dismissed. Now what was that about getting derailed and something going on too long? -

No. Scrappers have gotten nerfed mercilessly (At first at the insistence of Tankers), have never gotten a new powerset and have the least number of power pools.
A lot of people play Scrappers because they are easy to solo and are fun. But it's not on account of dev love.
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly!!! I mean....EXACTLY!!!!
...did someone mention pie? -
I posted this in another thread but then I remember that there are so many other people out there who love Pie... well, I just wanted to share.
Reading through different threads here and there, I see that some people want to be able to not just pick their Patron Powers for CoV, but then if they don't like them they want to respec out of the Patron they choose. And are upset because they cannot. From a Rp point of view, I can just picture it.
(You stand before the intimidating form of the Spectal Ghost Widow. Her life-barren eyes judge you and find you worthy of her blessing. She approaches you with arms outspread as if to embrace you in her death touch, yet you do not fear her. You know that you are about to receive a gift she rarely bestows upon her servants.
But what gift will that be? The thought troubles you. And will it have pretty lights when the power is used? What color is it? Will you have to wait 5 minutes before you can use it again? And, ohmygod, what if she bestows something you can't see very well, like some kind of resistance to physical damage?
The thoughts trouble you further as Ghost Widow leans in to grant you this gift from beyond. You are about to become her Patron... her loyal servant! Forever!!
"Hold it, GW", you say, raising your hand in a halting motion.
Ghost Widow withdraws her embrace with concern somehow stretched upon her pale countenance.
"What is it, my fiercest Warrior?" She asks.
You pause, wanting to be careful in your word choice for what you are about to say.
"Ummm.... this Gift. Uhh... I'm wanting something flashy, ya know? Something that will fit someone like me. Do you have anything like that? Because if you don't, I just may not want to be your Patron."
Ghost Widow pauses in mid-air. Were you able to read her dead mind you might be surprised to learn that for the first time since her return from the grave Ghost Widow wished that she had her eyes again so that she could roll them back into here head to display the ridiculousness of your request.
In response to your audacity, Ghost Widow leans in toward you with one outstretched hand.
"Such a brave request from such a brave servant." Her words sounded more like a snake's hiss than a compliment. " Such bravery should be rewarded."
You smile with pride as Ghost Widow touches your forehead with one cold finger of her outstretched hand. You feel dizzy at her death-touch. Your skin grows pale at first, but then you notice that the dizziness is replaced with a dryness that starts in your mouth and then spreads downward into your body and then outward across your skin.
" The gift I give you shall be great indeed, oh Brave one. " Her voice seemed miles away even though she was right before your very eyes, not even a foot away from you.
You notice that the dryness faded from feeling, as did everything else for a few brief moments. Next, you felt the life return to you along with a strong new energy that wanted badly to escape from you. But, clenching your teeth you held firm with your will to keep it contained. What POWER she must have bestowed upon you!
" Great is the power of Pie! " Her voice boomed and echoed as if she were in some great catherdral. " You dare ask with specificity? Let my gift be your curse, mortal. Now the only power you have is to create Pie ( again the echo ) for any villain who asks for it, yet never be able to indulge in it yourself. Serve me you shall, but only after dinner, you Worm!"
Ghost Widow's laugh threatens to break your eardrums with its great volume. You realize that your small-minded pickiness has indeed brought upon the wrath of one who does not forgive. You are regretful at last, as the thoughts of all who love Pie will be lining up for you to serve them. You, too, love Pie... but to never get to have any yourself? Oi! What a dreadful mistake you have made.
Beware... the Curse of Pie exists. -
[ QUOTE ]
What resistance tweak are you refering to? If you are a blaster and are getting owned by a MM, then you may need to look at your strategy. I think this is a great concept when considering that most NPCs and all players ignore the minions and kill the mastermind. Now if you want to AS a Mastermind, you need to take into consideration the number of minions he has out.
[/ QUOTE ]
I suspect that this is one reason why it is being added to the MM AT. MM's take a while to set back up after they die. Maybe the Dev's figured that the least they could offer was a fightable situation before they fall to AS over and over since they are easy targets now. -

The costume tokens were also handed out during today's maintenance.

Thanks Cuppa. I have like 5 alts that have been waiting for their capes. Every time I tried to add a cape it changed my sleeves and would not allow me to fix them without charge. Glad to seee this one! -
Ummm... so now the sheet is right? Just wanna make sure.

I agree wholeheartedly with having some actual 'in-game' content that gives clues and points people toward things like the unlockable contacts. It's one of the main problems (IMO, of course) with MMOs today that there's just not enough game 'in-game.' And usually performing web searches and printing out lists of coordinates and a checklist of required elements . . . well, that's just about as dry as it sounds. It's not putting the 'game' in the game at all.
Such things really do much less than they potentially could for actual enjoyment, due to the process I just described above. It's not playing, it's googling for information and that's just not a good game, IMO. Please put the 'game' back in the game where it belongs with 'in-game' clues and mysteries to unravel instead of web searches.

Could not have said it better. -

I've alluded to this in a couple of places, but I wanted to describe something we'll be doing for Super Reflexes quite soon...
Super Reflexes Auto powers (Agile, Dodge, and Lucky) now add some minor damage resistance. This Damage resistance starts at 0%, but improves as the caster loses HP. The Resistance kicks in at 60% HP (when HP bar first changes color) and markedly increases at 40% and 20% (again, when the bar changes color). We have not yet determined the exact values.
This change is in addition to the recent modification that gave most Defense Primary and Secondary powers resistance to Defense Debuffs (self Defense powers).

I just started reading this because I started a SR/Nin Stalker. FIrst, has this taken affect yet. This thread was started in Oct or Nov of last year. Secondly, my first thought was this...
What is with having to almost be half way to death before getting a buff? And just how fast is it going to kick in?In like-thought, I think this is why so many people dislike Defiance. Defiance does not noticeably kick in when it is supposed to. I have P-lenty of Blasters on my rosters who say so. My concern is that the same thing will happen in this case with the SR. And also, I suspect this will give no protection against one-shotting. Am I right? -

How about this-I had blue con mook minions brawling off the toggles on my level 9 dark/dark brute, that doesn't seem quite right.
[/ QUOTE ]
Their brawl probably has a chance to disorient, like boxing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, let's say that was it, even so, that seems a bit much that blue con to a level 9 minions were dropping my toggles so often.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think the whole boxing reference is exactly what it is. My Stalker was constantly getting his toggles knocked off by Blues, whites, oranges... everything but greens. But that would be because I never fought any greens. It's annoying that it happened so often, but not a mortal danger of surviving type of annoyance.

Better video!
Go to GameTrailers for the hi-res version that you don't have to pay for (the other site only offers low-res for free).
The MM is definitely the green skinned guy with the red hat (and carrying dual guns). The other guy with the spikey hair with the big ol handgun is unknown.

Funny that this version is so much clearer than the one linked from CoH. Nice to see War Witch out there and at it! -
It's allblurry anyway. Try one of the links provided by others earlier in the thread to another one. Hopefully that one is better. I am at work right now so I can't say.But the one CoH provides a link too blurry to get excited about.

But...but (sniffle)... where are you going? And ... but why?
Best wishes to whatever you move on to. It has been a pleasure to have you while you were ours! Take care.
I'll never forget that time she wrote me PM saying,
" OMG... if you don't stop asking me when the server will be up, I'll ban your sorry $*%#@!!!"
(sigh) Those are good memories. -
*Slips on long legged boots*
Something smells like a load....
That said...
I still 6 slot my Stamina. I hate to say it since I have never like ED because I think that Diversification is a misnomer here. People no longer have a choice of how to slot their characters without paying a penalty of sorts. NOW we get to make our characters with pre-planned limitations.
... sorry, can't help myself. Off track. Ahem. As I was saying. I six slot my Stamina still and even though the percentage of increase is small because if ED, I can tell the difference between 5 and 6 slots. IMO This has not eliminated the need to take Stamina, even with End Red. Enhancements in every power. Not if you like to stay on the run in missions like I do. Before ED I really didn't have the constant "stop's" that I have now after I run out of CaB's.
New thread time... I hate this topic... it upsets me greatly. -

A more boring and far more likely guess would be an enhancement store. If I'm wrong, I'll be happily surprised.

Just wanted to put an interesting little fact. Think it might have been in earlier, but don´t feel like browsing some 40 pages.
My main is an AR/Dev blaster. Before the ED i could take on most mobs (minions) that weren´t purple in groups of 4-5 without risk of dying being too high, because i could Snipe one of them to death to start the show. So Orange and Red con minions i get one down in one shot. Hey, sounds logical to me, Snipe is an aimed shot to a vital part after all.
After ED i can not one-shot even con minions. Not even with Assault running. Even the ones with lousy resistance against lethal damage has at least 25% healt left. That is with Snipe 6 slotted. 1 Acc 5 Dam all SO´s +2 levels. And with Assault running.
I try to Snipe something with good Lethal resistance? Half the health goes away, tops. And this is from a power that is supposed to be the ranged version of Stalkers AS? I know it shouldn´t be as powerfull as AS, but still... Get real!
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly, how many snipers you know cant kill something in 1 shot....
[/ QUOTE ]
I have my Blazing Bolt 5 slotted with 1 Acc and 4 Dmg and can't one-shot an even con. I can almost 1 shot a blue one. And can one-shot a green Lieutenant or higher once in a while depending on type and defense.. -
Thanks for the link Pilcrow. I must have overlooked that one since I was looking through their posts for just that. My greatest concern is at rest now.
-
Ya. That's always fun. By the time you get in an attack hit, you don't have then endurance to do anything more than that one hit. Been there.
Hanky please.
