  1. Who do I bug to get an invite shot my way? I'm always asking if we're stealthing a TF but don't really mind doing most of 'em either way. And I suppose I could stop being an antisocial recluse outside TFs.
  2. I'll try for it eventually. I hate the thought of the thing, but it's there. It would be nice to get at least one Master Of.
  3. *sigh*

I don't even have the first Master of badge yet.

I'll be there. I've had no luck getting the thing and more or less gave up, but it's been about a year. I'll give it a go. The two of us should neuter most of the AVs pretty nicely.

I was doing something like that today after I got my soft cap without divine avalanche build all set up. I went dry soloing the Positron EB in Dark Watcher's arc. I ran right from Manticore to him so I probably ran out in about five minutes. I thought it was my recharge just sucking through my blue, since I'm far from maxed out for recovery yet, but then I saw I had forgotten and left Ninja Run and Sprint on. All I've got right now are a few small recovery bonuses, Stamina with two end mods and the performance shifter proc, and unslotted physical perfection. I run all the SR toggles, tough, and weave normally.

My results aren't typical, of course. I left on two relatively thirsty travel toggles that I didn't need. But I'm planning to slap a second performance shifter chance for +end into physical perfection to go with the one I have in Stamina. (And a Perf Shifter End Mod with it because why not take another movement speed bonus?) Then I'll start thinking about the health uniques. They're already budgeted but I might put 'em off and buy some LotGs instead if they appear to be overkill.
  6. Sometimes I can't pan the camera with my mouse. I did this routinely by clicking and dragging the screen for about two years before I went away from the game in the summer. I came back in January and since then every now and then dragging the screen simply does not work. I can drag and drop icons in my power tray, click doors, glowies, contacts, and inspirations. I can use the scroll wheel to zoom in and out, but that's it. The mouse acts normally in other programs.

But in CoH I can go for several days with normal performance and then have camera panning crap out on me without warning. It's happened on zoning, in mid-fight, in the base, and so forth. I've tried zoning, switching characters, quitting to the desktop and re-logging. Someone I was teamed with a few days ago suggested switching in and out of first-person view, but that didn't help. When it happens it happens and then I can't pan the camera except with the keyboard until the game decides I've had enough and relents.

My keyboard and mouse both have fresh batteries and transmit to the same receiver. I can pan with the keyboard, but it's awkward and not my habit. I've cleaned the bottom of the mouse, switched batteries, and nothing seems to make any difference. When it happens it happens until it quits, apparently as randomly as it comes.

Is this happening to anybody else? Is there some way I can fix it or am I just stuck using the keyboard when the client gets moody?
  7. I can supply a /rad to the effort, provided I don't forget what day it is. It looks like he even has a bio nuke on hand from when I was doing the Warburg time badge that I forgot all about.
  8. My understanding is that the Numina unique runs for 120 seconds every time it fires, just like a click buff, and it will fire 100% of the time you activate the power it's in. So if you can get energize's recharge down to less than two minutes, you can have the benefits of the unique all the time.

The reason the uniques are so nice in auto powers is that they're coded as 0 endurance, no animation powers that activate every 10 seconds, ensuring perpetual unique bonuses.
  9. I'm going to be leveling one in a duo with a friend's BS/SD as soon as he finishes his tank, so I'd be interested.

Aside the numbers, which it's always nice to get another set of eyes on, I find guides that comment on the leveling experience (the 20s suck, avoid group X until power Y, etc) very helpful.

Not really about your build, but if you haven't tried it Dark Watcher's arc is pretty good for solo merit grinding. I've been hitting it about once a night for the past week or two and have my time under 40 minutes to complete, my build's only real luxury being the soft cap.
  11. And I'm now a soft-cap believer. I got there with Weave to all but melee, and Divine Avalanche got me that. Had lots of fun on an ITF standing in the middle of big piles of Roman bosses and EBs.

...I'm going to be spending more inf on this guy. Thanks to everyone for their help. I'll probably be back for more.

Holy crap. That would be a long-term goal. But I'll save it anyway because who knows how much I'll get the bug for involved builds once I've got him to 50 and have the soft cap. Maybe it'll be the motivation to get me into steady marketeering instead of occasional one-offs like I've been doing for the past six months or so.
  13. Thanks for giving it a look. Your builds gave me some good ideas.
  14. This is my first deliberate build ever and combines two sets I've never leveled up before on top of it. It's even my first all-defense character ever, having only leveled up /DA and /WP previously. So I've min-maxed my ignorance. But he's 42 as of last night and I'm having a ball playing him. I'm just not sure where he should go next and if I'm making the smart choices to get there.

My main goal is just to soft-cap him to all positions. Anything else is nice, but not essential. I want to avoid purples and PVP IOs because I haven't been marketing in quite a while and I don't really have a good farmer on hand to earn back what I spend failing that. My total wealth is somewhere around 1.5 billion, but I'd rather not blow the whole wad on him. A few hundred million is ok.

    So the build to date:

Slot levels are very approximate since I assigned them from memory. The combat attributes tell me I'm at 30.29/41.56/36.09 melee/ranged/AoE. One application of divine avalanche pushes melee just over the soft cap. But what would be the smartest way, given my budget, to get to the ranged and AoE soft caps? I was thinking a full set of Gaussian in build-up to start, but I don't know if that's a wise use of slots. Also I'm not positive that Red Fortune was the right pick to get me going on Ranged now that I see Mako has a better bonus (but no global recharge).

    So, erm, help?
  15. I'm guessing a team of 8 fire/rad trollers could do it, with practice and Team TP. I was on a teaming effort that ran such groups a few years ago. Some of the alumni from that (not me) won an STF race with these tactics a while back. I recall they took the Patron AVs all at once.

8xAM ought to pretty much meet everybody's endurance needs for nonstop attacks. These would be synchronized and with eight, it's permanent. (It takes a little bit of practice to get AM synched up, but it's not too bad. With just recharge DOs in it, 6 synched AMs are permanent. You can afford to slip one if someone dies and it isn't recharged yet. Just have 'em hold for next time.)

8xhot feet with AM's damage buff, plus a few procs in that and in choking cloud (The procs being optional. Nice to have but probably overkill with all the rest of the damage.)

8xchoking cloud should mez most Romans before they can shout it out

32 imps are going to pump out plenty of damage even with the pet recharge nerf (My fire/rad teaming experience predates that so I can't say how much difference it makes with so many imps. damage auras, and the like still running.)

I'm not sure what the numbers are but 8 instances of controller maneuvers should either soft cap or some close to it. If 8 AMs doesn't damage cap you (can't remember) then 8 copies of Assault should more than fill the gap. Those toggles might sound like a heavy load, but I know from experience that with 8 AMs you can pull this off and skip stamina without much noticing. Putting radiant aura on auto will fix any damage that gets through. (The leader of our superteam used to have a bind to remind people to spam the heals.)

Standard procedure would be to Team TP everywhere, just skipping through spawns you don't need to fight. (Soft capping and all that healing should make anything short of the crystal ambushes trivial to blip through Don't fight what you don't have to, of course.) Rock the aura and spam fire cages and maybe one other AoE. (We used to use flashfire a lot, but cinders for extra lockdown or fireball/psi tornado from the epics were popular too). Two or three casts on top of the imps and hot feet should do it for anything short of an AV. There you have 8x lingering radiation, enervating field, and rad infection.

The main risks would be everyone faceplanting during Rom's rezzes (not likely with a good Team TP driver to break line of sight) or during the crystal explosions. If those are auto-hit, you're hosed. Regrouping and coming back would kill the time. If not it's just a matter of timing the heals well and having Mutation ready (Vengeance too being nice) if someone gets a big face full of death.

I don't know if the team could bust 20, but it would certainly be crazy fast. For a hair more protection, replace one fire/rad with a fire/forcefields for a hair more defense and mez protection. Everything except the driving, and the ability to do so in the caves, is fairly straightforward and should be consistent across multiple runs. Unless I've missed something crashingly obvious, which I probably have.
  16. The only way to beat the game is get a bunch of 50s, a gigantic badge collection, and then delete all your characters. Then you win.

    Bye Bye Badges

I'll miss some titles and would rather the non-popularity badges had their numbers fixed instead of just being pulled, but I'll live. I suspect it's far more trivial for the Devs to write a script to revoke badges than it is to go in and edit their requirements, which may have to be done manually.

    7. Stationary "Buff Bot" allies. These are set to not follow, but can give you speed boost, fortification, shields, forge and others I'm sure. As long as you don't lead enemies back to them they won't leach exp because they won't follow.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I didn't know that one was possible, maybe because I never noticed an ally that did it in regular missions. I think all of your list are fair questions that deserve answers, though.
  19. I went and answered my own question. Under no travel and player debuff, On the Run took me about as long as a run of Division: Line but felt far less annoying. The penultimate mission is a hunt for 100 crey, which probably ate up about 15 minutes of my 2:40 by itself, plus I took two short breaks. I was ready to dump a vanguard heavy, a snowbeast, and an Amy on top of the EB Countess Crey, but she took interest in my imps and left me alone to debuff and beat the snot out of her.

My fire/rad isn't very IOed, just some recovery and recharge bonuses with a smidge of accuracy and a Numina unique. Aside the debuffs, all I had up on the Countess was the psi mastery ancillary pool (some psi resist in the armor and click mez protection). I didn't even bother to load up four lucks.

I don't know what it would be like for other toons, or with enemies buffed, but if anybody else is sick of pounding on the Nems and Rikti, beating up the Crey looked like a good alternative.
  20. Has anybody found anything better than Division: Line that they'd like to recommend for a fire/rad troller?

I know mine is capable of soloing at least a few EBs under normal circumstances (I've done it in the Architect missions on test where you beat up Castle, Synapse, and Sunstorm) and I've already done the no enh and no insp challenges, so those would be available to me. I've got Geas, Vanguard Medal, and Elusive Mind to pop as needed.

I suppose I can stretch it out and do a mission or two a day if I have to. I've got the player debuff, foes buff, AT-only, and no travels to go. Is there a better way? I don't mind dying once or twice and restocking inspirations. My debt monkeys don't get the debuff and I can dump my toggles and Lingering Radiation on anything that comes my way.

Thank you for both explaining what went on and changing your mind, Posi.
  22. The screenshots did not do the Valkyrie costume set justice. It's even more awesome in all its 3D glory. You outdid yourself, Jay.

It's a bummer that the mission teleporter is on a two hour recharge, but I didn't think it would be an every mission thing. It's still great for those times a contact sends you across three zones to something not connected to the o-zone or Pocket D, or when you draw a mission in those maxes in Brickstown.
  23. Hm. Cool costume set and neat power that can occasionally shorten one of the more annoying time sinks of finding the mish door when it's hidden underground in Bricks or wherever. I might pay $10 for that.

But for $20 I can get it right now. That's a $10 value + a month of time, which would be $15 that I'm paying anyways. So $25 of stuff for $20. Good deal.

    Well played, NCSoft.
  24. I feel like my auto was just unpimped. Well played, NCSOFT, well played.
