He actually dropped that on me earlier today. I was quite proud of myself for it, considering it was a sign (at least to me) that a blaster had grabbed aggro off of two tanks.
It wasn't such a compliment when I did the same to LR and he kept two-shotting me out of the sky. -
Alternatively, they also announced the WTF target via the Facebook page.

Quote:I've got to agree with MajorPrankster here.Do you have any clue as to how condescending that sounds?
Some people don't remember details. Some do.
This is a very valid, probably low cost, QoL feature to be requested.
Yet, the OP is basically told (by some) that since others have such sterling memory abilities such a thing is not needed, to the point of calling the OP characters worthless.
Man, I just love gamers.
I'm not a serious altaholic, so I can keep track of my assorted toons pretty easily. But my wife has a rather poor memory and a little icon or short blurb on the select screen would make it far easier for her to remember things like this. Besides, do we really need an icon that tells us what our characters' origins are? I understand that back in the day origin was planned to really mean something, but the way the game has progressed, origin means slightly more than what kind of shoes they're wearing. -
I'll bring Sheryl out again for this one!

My advice to find teams is to build one. Use the /search tool, find people who are not currently on a team (and not flagged as not looking) and send a polite tell to the people around the range you're looking to run asking if they're interested in a (mission/GM kill/badge/AE/whatever you want to run) team. If they respond that they're interested, invite them, and if they reply they're not interested send a quick "thank you" reply back. If they don't respond at all, just forget about them because they're either too busy to reply or just don't feel like talking. It's really not hard to throw a team together, and don't worry about building a "superteam" for a PuG, you'll probably never notice an issue even with a full team of tankers. (Damage may not come really quickly but NO ONE WILL DIE)
Here's a link to an explanation of the search window to assist as well.
Oh, and welcome to the game and the forums!! -
I don't think it quite works like that because I got a double drop on a Tin Mage TF a while back, and you have to be an incarnate just to run the TF.
Why does it happen? No idea for sure, but it is nice when it does. -

Alternatively, if you get the GR complete collection box, you get all the gimmes associated with it (if you haven't got it already) along with a free month and an install disc that's updated to i18. Not 100% up to date but it's much faster than downloading 19 issues of updates.
-
Sorry, prior to the release of GR the devs specifically said Swap Ammo was DP's special thing and they weren't going to move it to AR. Besides, you can take my beanbag when you pry it from my cold, dead hands.

It took me about 7 months worth of play to reach 50 the first time. In the roughly 4 years since then, I've got... 3 50s. Of course, that's with two 7 month deployments, lots of time hanging out chatting, playing the market, tinkering with AE (and no arcs yet published!) and a healthy amount of time playing that same original 50, just because I love the character. There are people who will take characters from 1-50 in this next double XP weekend, and others who have yet to reach it over the course of years. Honestly, it takes as long as it takes, and the point isn't really to reach 50 but to have fun doing it. Everyone's got a different journey, enjoy yours.

Quote:The more I think about it, the more the idea of teleporting with the salute emote becomes a bada$$ concept. They already have a few decent animations in the game for Teleport. The Steamy Mist animation or some of the costume change emotes come to mind.

Except when I have to see it constantly as I port to my destination. -
I had a similar experience when my Aion account got hacked, and through that they got into my NCSoft account and changed the password there. Best bet is to call support directly, they're really quite helpful and it's easier to verify your identity over the phone than through email (even though it's not like face-to-face interaction, you can answer questions about yourself faster and more accurately than someone posing as you).
Besides that, they can ask you directly for what you need and if you don't have it they can give you alternatives. Works a lot faster than waiting for someone else to read the email.
Best of luck, it's never a fun process validating your own identity.
EDIT: On a second read, I realized that this hadn't happened to you yet. Yes, as was said before, get a log of all your serial codes because they do ask for that. Also make sure you use a strong password, and make sure you've set your password hints. If you really want to protect your password, use one that has no actual words (a friend has a set area of the keyboard and runs down it, alternating use of the shift keys, so it looks like 6yhn^YHN7ujm&UJM) and change it often (every 90 days or so works well). -
If I'm understanding what the OP is referring to, it sounds akin to the Sanctuary in Fable 3. A personal place to appreciate all of your achievements as you've progressed through the game, as well as to consider all of your future quest options. A fair suggestion, to be sure, but not quite as simple to implement as if a few extra lines of code would make it work.
For starters, as was previously mentioned in this thread, in order to implement any amount of customization it would require some sort of "Lair Builder" system. Now, the easiest way to do this would be the same way base building works, although our current base builder is a nightmare to work with and in glaring need of overhaul. I would second the suggestion to approach this topic in the base builder forum, simply because whichever dev happens to be tackling the base builder problem at this time will see your suggestion and possibly have a great idea to implement this into the next incarnation of base building, which unfortunately is unlikely to come soon. Not to say bases don't need love, but more devs are working on new arcs, new TFs, new zones, possibly even new powersets, and the further development of the incarnate system, and with all due respect to base builders, I much prefer them developing those things because I (and most of the playerbase) interact with them more often. (My comment on the playerbase is an assumption, but based in the fact that everybody who plays this game plays SOME powerset, and the majority of players run SOME arcs outside of AE, while not everybody enjoys or even attempts to use the base editor.)
On another note, regarding your "personal prestige" idea: I know it's based off of our current base builder technology, however prestige really is nothing more than "supergroup influence" and so there's no real need to create an all new economy. Just use INF and simplify the whole procedure. Make the initial furnishings cheap and build up to a 30M INF zero-gravity bed, which does nothing but look pretty and functions quite well as an INF sink.
Thanks for making the suggestion, and be sure to follow through with it. I'd love to see it in game, although I think this is the most support I'll end up showing for it simply because there's other things I'd give a higher priority. No offense, of course.
And please, don't feed the trolls. -
Hmm, looks like so many people are signing up we're gonna need two teams. Anyway, I'm in, this is the ONLY TF in the game I've never done.

Easiest way redside to get this if you've outlevelled all the arcs? Aside from the RV badges (which, as was said before, you'll be able to get to long before you're eligible for Ramiel's arc) you can just head for the BM and send a tell to one of the higher level players you find there asking them to open an O-portal so you can get the badge. Give them a minute or two to respond, because they may have a lot going on at that time, and they'll almost definitely be happy to help. If that doesn't work, just ask someone else. There are very few players in this game who are unwilling to help a fellow player, especially with something that costs nothing and has a very quick recharge.
Oh, and as was also previously stated, a polite request is not begging. Spamming broadcast and request channels in a zone is begging, and that can be annoying enough to get you put on /ignore.
Edit: RWZ is also a great place to find people for this, and those portals are like popcorn after a MS raid. -
Quote:Meh. MS raids aren't that bad for AR/DEV. Spam Flamethrower, Ignite and Grenade Launcher, pop FA whenever available, and drop Gun Drone/Trip Mine whenever there's a second or two to beat the interrupt time. Use Burst/Slug while waiting for other powers to recharge. Repeat as necessary and profit. I pulled 450 merits on one raid this way.So, overall, I like. I've been wanting the Assault Rifle vanguard option on several characters for a while now, and now I won't have to slave them into MS raids to get it. MS raids on an AR/DEV blaster are painful, to say the least.
But I'm 'meh' on the non-combat pet. I see some people like it...I'm sorry, I prefer some functionality over zero function. This is why I don't even bother redeeming my non-combat pet vet 'reward.' But, I recognize that this is my OPINION, and isn't shared by all.
But a suggestion, if this will be a theme moving forward (the idea of account-wide unlocks of certain things): I've wanted the 'Power Slide' item for Sprint for a LONG time now, but there's just no way to get it. I understand that it was meant to be a prestige thing for certain preorders of a boxed set or something, but is there any way to make that available in some way/shape/form for people? I want the Iceman-slide effect, nao! :^)
Regarding the Prestige Power Slide, it's available from the DVD Collector's edition. It's increasingly hard to find these days, but Amazon still has sellers starting from $65. If you search harder, you may be able to find it elsewhere for less, this is what I could find in about 15 seconds of looking.

Quote:This actually sounds somewhat viable, since it would take far fewer art resources to stick a boat with a door in south IP than a tram station (which would then require new tracks across the entire zone, at which point you're basically overhauling the IP map). I haven't really searched through IP, but there may already be such a boat present, and conceivably the only thing the devs would need to change is to tag that door as a smuggler's boat and NOT a mission door.Independence Port: I agree is too large of a zone to not have some help in the travel department, especially since the addition of the linked trains and ferries.
As Azure mentioned and I was going to suggest, a series of boats in Independence Port is also a viable option.
The Smuggler's Boat already exists, and is not too far from the Train. It only links to Talos Island and Striga Isle, so an additional Independence Port (South) and Independence Port (North) Smuggler's Boat would be a welcome addition.
I think it would be nice if other areas were re-evaluated to ease the "time-to-travel" as well, such as Nerva Archipelago. An additional Black Line here or new Submarine system is about all I can think of that would make sense up North.
Also, Port Oakes in my opinion could use another look now that the Ferries are linked.
In closing, yea... I am all for some further re-evaluation in this phase and future upgrades.
Then again, I have NO idea what the code looks like and it could take 8 months of rework to do something like this. -
Quote:Do you have any references for when this was previously discussed? I find this kind of thing interesting and would like to see the dev posts myself regarding it.The subject has come up several times before.
The short answer is Not Soon(tm).
The long answer is that Pet classes, such as Phantom Army, utilize what is referred to as a costume overlay tech. During the Issue 16 release process the developers stated that power customization options for Pool Powers, Epic Pool Powers, Patron Pool Powers, and Costume Overlays required more Processing Engine and User-interface work that would not be available until after Going Rogue launched.
We know that the power customization system took over 2 years to put together, and was one of the first projects Paragon Studios started on after the buyout from NCSoft. While the work needed to be done to expose the other systems to the players should, on paper, not take as long, it still is going to be a lengthy development cycle. The earliest a development cycle to implement the customization options would have begun would have been August 18th, 2010.
Assuming that Paragon Studios did assign artwork resources, programming resources, and user-interface resources to finishing up power customization for those aforementioned areas, I don't think those upgrades are something that can be done in a 6 month development cycle. I would be more likely to believe a 10month or a 12month development cycle.
Assuming then that Paragon Studios has resources dedicated to expanding the costume options, I wouldn't expect to see any progress news until June or July of this year (2011). -
Here's a curiosity: Will rikti invaders con blue?

Quote:Don't forget our wonderful flashback system, which lets you run through any story arc or badge mission below your current level range (all of them for 50's). And with I19, they've added the Calvin Scott TF into the flashback system. To get there, all you need is the oroboros portal, which you get by completing any arc or having any badge related to time travel. If you don't have it, you can either ask another player (virtually anyone over 25 has it already) and pick up the explore badge at the top of the structure, or just take your 50 to RV and snag one of the explore badges there.Depends on what you consider to be "reasons to play".
- Unlock Alpha slot and get Alpha Boosts
- Do Task Forces: Statesman, Lady Grey, Imperious, Dr Kahn, three of the four Shard TFs, Lord Recluse, Barracuda, Apex and Tin Mage Mk II can all be run at 50 without exemplaring down.
- Exemplar and do the other Task Forces and story arcs
- Visit Praetoria via Pocket D
- Engage in PvP
- Switch sides: Have your hero become a villain or vice versa!
- Play player-made content in the AE house (can be hard to find with all the farms but good stuff there for those who look
Also, in case you didn't hear, the Positron TF has been completely redesigned, and it's far more interesting and player-friendly than before. WB and have fun!!! -
Alternatively, if you have or can generate a build with Combat Jumping or Super Jump, you can make this run pretty easily. I had all the top scores on my MM back when she was in the 30s long before I managed to get it with my 50, who uses flight. (In the end I got it with the safeguard jump pack, and when they made the luge slope I used the second build I hadn't made yet to get SJ).
