MORE POPULATION = BAD, BAD THINGS! KEEP LOW POP SERVERS FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO PLAY, NOT GET LAGGED OR LOCKED OUT!

The view point of a brand New CoX player. You don't know anyone so getting inf assistance is unlikely. You don't have a super group. You have no clue how to use the market much less gain inf rather than lose inf through it. You may not have (or want at least until you can run the basic controls well enough not to look like a total n00b) a team and your first impression of the game is the make it break it of whether you enjoy it enough to continue playing past the trial.
When you are a brand new player running out of end continually may be the make it or break it of whether you want to switch from trial to paying.

I understand the point, but this isn't really different than any other game. When you start a new game, you usually don't have a very good idea of what you're doing, and you're not very good at the game. A game without a learning curve would have to be incredibly shallow.
Balancing Endurance in the early levels is a tricky issue. On one hand, yeah- sometimes it can be not very fun. On the other hand, you're supposed to weaker in the early levels and become progessively more powerful and self-sufficient. You're not supposed to be buzzsawing through enemies on your own early on.
It's a tricky balance between not making the early levels too frustrating, and not making them a cakewalk.

Yeah -- how would you know you'd become more powerful if you started out fully capable? -
Yeah, I have one in Super Speed, and I get the benefits just standing around in Wentworth's even if I haven't turned on Super Speed in this play session.

No one puts BU on auto, after all.

Then why do I constantly hear it going off in Wentworth's? -

With the newly nerfed Merits completing a set is dog slow compared to what it was pre-I13.

What are you talking about? -

I'd be more impressed if they stopped looking like "butt capes" - I'm NOT constantly farting!!!

Yeah, save it for Rads with Choking Cloud. -
Long deleted, but I made a muscular, beast-headed Assault Rifle Corruptor with tan fur and a red-and-white bullseye on her chest, Bambi's Mom. Her battlecry, just before shooting someone, was "I'm TIRED of being the TARGET!"

You all massively fail for not posting this idea yet (except Ex Libris)
Reporter MUST be one of the day job options.
Edit: Also, I don't think the Architect would work, at least not with the SG base as the location; as it stands, if you log out there, you are booted back out the main portal.
Now, NEXT to the base portal on the maps might work.

Was thinking reporter as I was reading. Suggested location: next to a newsie.

Ideally, it should be Mild-Mannered Reporter.

Love the art, and I love your retro characters. I have a few myself, although I haven't made a equivalent effort in developing and documenting my characters. The picture of the Masked Shrike with the P-47 Thunderbolt is a particular favorite!
This isn't a criticism, but I can't help but notice I never see the Masked Shrike in, well, a mask. There must be a story or character quirk behind that...?

Reloading a Saved Costume onto a New Character Fails if a Crafted Wings Recipe is Part of Costume
Server: Justice
Zone: character creation
Character name: Didn't get to the naming screen
Time: 9:00-9:30 PM EST 12/4
Location: character creation
Mission: loading a saved costume onto a newly created character
Mission Contact: --
Bug Description: Red text at bottom of costume load screen: Failed to load. Could not find a match for part 18. Costume creator may not have access to that costume part.
Link to Forum Discussions: --
It's clear what's happened here: the crafted wings aren't available to the new character. That's obviously correct. What is less clear is how to know this in advance. Perhaps when first saving a costume with crafted/unlocked items, a message could appear warning that the costume contains unique item(s) and may not load onto characters without access to those items. That would avoid ugly surprises (like if I deleted the original character, remade, amd tried to pull up the saved costume for the new character). The system appears to run a check for unique costume parts when loading; why not one when saving, with appropriate warnings?

This isn't my character; he was posted to the "post your best costume designs" thread. But this is the one I thought of when you asked for "regal."

Caveat: Issue 13 will significantly change some Invulnerability powers, especially the despised passives. You'll have to decide for yourself if those changes make the passives more worthwhile now, but be advised this guide is going to be obsolescent shortly.

Sure, but I'm talking about players who are not considering that -- players who just keep blasting away without looking up and thinking about the team.
Sailboat -
I have a tip for characters who are supporting a team, particularly (but not limited to) Defenders and Controllers. Getting an entire fallen superhero back into the fight is WAY MORE EFFECTIVE than any attack or buff you may have to cast.
I can't tell you how many times I've seen a key team member lie there dead, or slog three floors to find the team on a big map, while players with recall friend and/or rez powers use their Tier 1 and 2 blasts on bad guys -- and sometimes justify it "because the team was in trouble" or "no time to rez someone."
No matter how good you are, you do more for the team spending a few seconds adding an entire additional superhero to the fight and then go back to doing your thing.
This is not to be construed as a rant against Defenders blasting -- please use that secondary to your heart's content! But also please don't leave good Blasters and Scrappers face-down while you do. Leverge the power of your teammates! They'll help win the fight, and they'll appreciate not being bored while waiting for someone to notice they're dead.

Your deviant art page crashes Netscape every single time I try to load it.

The slotting looks pretty strange to me. Generally the reward for the third end reduction slot in a toggle is so small as to be negligible, and you should be saving the slot. I'd slot up the attacks more, and differently -- Midnight Grasp in particular I don't understand your slotting. Also I'd be interested in hearing your rationale for three-slotting Super Jump.

He could not prove to NCSoft that he was indeed the creator of said character and thusly owned the rights to permit usage, so he just never bothered to try and fight it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not saying your friend didn't own his character, but I do want to point out that it doesn not alweays follow that the "creator of said character ... thusly owned the rights". Creators own the copyright at creation (and can apply for trademark/service mark status) but creators can sell or assign those rights away, in which case they may no longer be entitled to use the character even though they created it. It might seem nonsensical at first, but that's what the purchaser of thre rights is paying for. If I sell my book to Random House, I am not supposed to also publish it privately and compete with Random House's sales.

If I don't want to roll a 13th character on a server at this time, why should I be forced to apply that slot?
[/ QUOTE ]
Purely guessing here, but I can think of a few administrative reasons for something like this. Maybe they want to get the extra slots assigned to servers permanently so they can have an idea of here the extra demand is and plan hardware accordingly, rather than have floating "potential" demand that could materialize on any server at player whim?
Not that that's a customer-pleasing marketing strategy, mind you; I'm just speculating as to their reasoning, which is probably administrative and not punitive.

Is there any way to view deviant art images in anything but tiny thumbnail size? This image like every other deviant art image is tiny for me, and doesn't change when I click on "full view", which only redraws the page in the same size. I even made a deviant art account of my own but I still can't zoom anything. You guys are talking like you can actually see the art, so I'm guessing some kind of Secret Knowledge(tm) must be involved. Induct me into your cult, oh unsquinting ones!
