    Chillax? Seriously?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Eh, maybe he's /Ice Melee.
  2. No worries -- I realized when the reboots weren't connecting me that I wasn't going on this particular outing.

The machine has worked fine ever since, of course. :P Glad to hear you guys had a great TF! I'll catch another one, I'm sure.
  3. I feel like my green "auto power" circle isn't working reliably on many of my characters, but I can't figure out what's going on. I'll control-click to put it on a power and the power doesn't start. O manually click the power ansd it starts but doesn't auto-start the next cycle. Then later I notice it seems to be working -- maybe after I zone?

Is anyone else having this? What is known about it? Fix coming?
  4. Well, I'm surprised. No one was expecting the (Vanished) Inquisition!

Pull up a Comfy Chair™ and the Tanker folks will try to bring you up to speed.

(to add something on-topic, let me say that Inv/SS is a very strong and well-rounded build these days, and has benefitted from several recent changes. You won't be unhappy.)

Unfortunately, she suffers the same fate of all defensive sets: vulnerability to debuffs

    [/ QUOTE ]

A well-built SR is 95% resistant to defense debuffs. The problem mine has with debuffs is that some (I'm loking at you, Possessed Scientists!) nocs have debuffing attacks that are flagged as non-resistable. Not many of them, and since the player PVE and PVP versions of these attacks ARE resistable, I wonder if it's a bug. It's very very rare though -- in general, I can go afk in a crowd on the Cimerororan walls, for example, and so far have never come close to dying. I just run a few percentage points over 45% and the debuff resistance eats up the debuffs.

    For 'best' name..?

Hmm. It's a three-way contest with me. I think Tempus Fugitive, my time-travelling Warshade takes simply by virtue of being the oldest (the others are Fortunata Cookie, my... er, Fortunata , and Archimedes' Lever, my Grav/Kin Controller)

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Dude, these are great!
  7. It's true!

Because there isn't a state named Rhode Island.

    Not yet, anyway.

Behold the lovely State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations!

Or so the state is formally named, at least until legislation to shorten it clears the state house.

    Weird, huh?
  8. I guess I'm unfamiliar with this whole issue. If I recall correctly, Shadow Maul and its cousin, Sands of Mu, look like they're limited to 5 targets in City of Data; I've never hit more than 5 myself -- nor met anyone in-game who expected more than 5. "Oooh, all five hit!" is sometimes bragged in team chat.

I also have missed any references (outside of Shadow Maul discussions) to an upcoming fix/change/nerf to cones, either Dark Melee only or to all cones gamewide.

Can you direct me to the discussion of said change?

On the other hand, I took Kick specifically because of the issue with redraw in Mace. Boxing works too, of course, and is a handy place to slot two Stupefy's for a recovery bonus.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I may well be mistaken, but I thought the pool attacks force redraw period (unlike Brawl). However, Brawl sometimes animates as a foot attack for weapon users (I see this with my archers especially), which may cause confusion.

Are you sure the mace stays out when you use the actual Kick power?

Well, how do these two alternatives comnpare:

4 level 35 Kinetic Combats, 1 level 50 Mako quad, 1 lvl 50 End red common for 39% Acc, 95% damage, 95% end and 59% recharge

4 level 35 Kinetic Combats, 1 level 50 Mako quad, 1 Hecatomb proc for 39% Acc, 95% damage, 59% end and 59% recharge -- and the proc.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What about 4 KC, hecatomb proc and triple for the 4% recov set bonus.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, the triple is Acc/Dmg/Rch. The acc is probably not critical with Invincibility and enhanced Rage to-hit bonuses. I'd like to have more, but probably won't need it. The recharge is of questionable benefit as it has such quick recharge already, and I have 41% from the KC set and 35% or so globally.

But end reduction would do me some good on my most-commonly-spammed attack.

How about if I substitute the Dmg/End Hecatomb for the triple?

That gives me 22.9% Acc, ~100% damage, 74% end and 41% recharge -- plus the Hecatomb proc, plus that 4% recovery set bonus.

Yeah, that might be the ticket.
  11. I dunno; the attraction of Shield/Dark seems to be that you can get multiple damage bonuses. I feel more attracted to making a Scrapper if I'm looking for big damage numbers.

But I'm inexperienced with Shields on either AT. How's the feel (fun, tough enough?) of Shields as a Tanker set?
  12. Sailboat

    Leveling sucks.

    [ QUOTE ]
Kinda, but now they can also take Health without Swift/Hurdle, etc. That's pretty cool in my book since I'm always tight on power picks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I thought it was just travel pools, not all the pools. Am I wrong about that?
  13. Well, how do these two alternatives comnpare:

4 level 35 Kinetic Combats, 1 level 50 Mako quad, 1 lvl 50 End red common for 39% Acc, 95% damage, 95% end and 59% recharge

  14. I'll hog a reserve slot too. My wife likes to think of things for me to do on the weekend, but if she doesn't, I'll be there. Probably Ironclad, 49 Inv/SS Tanker.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
My Ice Controller is an Ice/Storm, so instead of Shiver, I used Snow Storm for my ranged slow. I agree that having both a melee slow/confuse and a ranged slow makes an Ice Controller more effective. If I didn't have Snow Storm available, I would probably include Shiver in my build.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Right. Many guides were written for the Ice/Storm combo, which has three area slows (Arctic Air, Snowstorm, Shiver). Non-Storm builds won't have quite so much overkill in the slow department and might see a lot of advice from people used to thinking about Storm as if it always went with Ice.

I agree that a second slow is great. In the case of Ice/Storm, Snowstorm is my choice because (in some ways) it's a *better* slow than Shiver. In particular, both AA and SS are auto-hit toggles -- put them up and they affect everything in their radii without missing, and they don't take any more mouseclick time or animation time, they just run steady. Also, after casting, each will slow any newcomers to their radius, unlike Shiver, which will be recharging.

I agree that non-Storms should seriously consider Shiver to go with AA.
  16. A fun combination visually is Grav/Strom Controller. Propel provides endless hilarity beaning enemies with the world's largest (and fastest-moving) yard sale, and Lift is like doing ranged wedgies on everyone. Then the storm powers just look awesome and they work really well too, as long as you're not panicked by knockback.

    MA/SD Questions

SS won't cut it for Cap? At least SS can Hurl a flat object; you could do worse than pretend he's hurling the shield.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
I am thinking that Ice/War mace may be fun to play with all the knock downs..and a couple of AoEs thrown in. I am thinking about rolling up a frozen cave man style character

    TF "Must Haves"?

    [ QUOTE ]
It's becoming increasingly more aggravating to get into a TF PUG lately. Seems there are becomine more and more "must have" builds - and if you dont have that build - no need to apply. Is this game turning into Guild Wars?

    You "must have":
    - A stone tanker
    - A Kin
    - A Rad
    - A Cold Fender
etc., etc., the list goes on.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In my experience, the only thing that's required to get invited to a PUG TF is that I be logged in. I get invites from random strangers pretty frequently while I don't have a teaming flag set and I'm shopping or selling or whatever.

When forming a TF, I personally never look for a "healer," although I do like to throw in Controllers and Defenders if I can find them without holding things up.

I like trying different team mixes, makes things more interesting.

Tomorrow night. Folks will start forming up in the Hive around 9:15 or so....scheduled to start at 9:30 EST. I will start clearing DE as soon as we have the numbers we need to succeed.

the Six Hundred Million Influence Man!
    Fixed that for ya!

Well, maybe we're not going to make him THAT much better.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
In 45 minute they can earn a lowbie 10,000 tickets and level them from level 1 to level 32. Personally I think I'd be happy to pay the brute for the leveling service, but it seems like the consensus is that this is OUTRAGEOUS!!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

So they missed something in the AE nerfs? Isn't this specifically what they want to shut down?

Can you go into specific detail on how to replicate this?
  24. [ QUOTE ]
and we can help make your build better.

    Buy Vet Rewards?

    [ QUOTE ]
Sry this has probably been discussed a million times,(I've only read the forums and achieved 24 month badge) but what about buying vet rewards NOT badges or clothing just powers. I've read from the devs that its a reward for loyalty, and rightly so, but im not asking for respect from noobs only a black wand or pet.

P.S. if I buy 3 yrs worth of game time, do i get awarded vet powers?

thank for reading and responces if any

    [/ QUOTE ]

Inquiries from new players about paying for vet rewards are pretty routine. What makes this one novel is this part: "what about buying vet rewards NOT badges or clothing just powers." Basically "not the boring parts, just the good stuff." Yet it's presented as if that makes it less likely to bother veteran players. "Don't worry, I only want to take the best part, you can have the trash."
