I think the question is a little more difficult to answer than just saying an AT. One has to look at the tanker being used, first. Then you can determine the AT (or AT's) that would work with that tank.
Let's say you've decided to roll a Stone/Ice tank. Congratulations, you've created an unkillable block of aggro management. Unfortunately, you won't kill jack once you enter Granite, and won't be nigh unkillable if you don't (unless you IO very well). So your best pairing would be anything with Kinetics attached. So you can use a Defender, Corruptor or Controller. Add fire to the Kinetics, and you've got a fair amount of damage from the two of you to make leveling a bearable pace.
Now, let's go the other way. You have a Fire/Fire tank. Mobs melt away faster than that Nazi dude in Raiders of the Lost Ark. But you're a bit squishy (as tanks go). So anything that can provide any mitigation will be good. Defenders, Controllers, Corruptors, Dominators, and Master Minds can offer decent amounts of those.
So tell us what tank you're gonna roll (or which combos you thought if rolling) and you may get some better answers. All in all, though, you should have fun with the duo. -
Quote:Thanks for the answer!Don't use the uninstaller!
It removes the registry entries for the Live Client as well as the Test and Beta clients. (Which can be fixed by pretending to reinstall the Live client, backing out of the complete install, and, now that the registry entries have been reset, running the updater.)
Just delete the Beta directory and the shortcut icons.
If you have a 'registry cleaning' program that finds and deletes orphaned registry itesm, run that afterwards. -

Got a little behind on my readings, so I read 4 and 5 both. I noticed one little thing on Season 4, though:
Quote:In season 6 we learn that Jacob's touch can keep someone from dying/committing suicide. Being a candidate alone will not do the job. As far as we know, Michael was never touched. But this could have been done outside the story we see.Michael He could not kill himself and Tom Friendly (the Other who took Walt) said it was because the Island was not through with him yet. We learn in Season 6 candidates cannot kill themselves, so perhaps his suicide prevention was due to his candidacy at one time.
Also, you mention that dreams could have been MiB influencing people, but would you rule out the possibility of the island being the influence of these dreams?
Can't wait to see your Season 6 post! -
Did some searching, and I haven't been able to find a solid answer on this, so I thought this would be the place to ask:
Do we have a way for uninstalling the GR Beta client? Something better than just deleting the folder? -

I'm just going to touch up on AR's observations and add a couple of my own.
This isn't really a good power to skip. While you may want to be really durable (nothing wrong with that), you won't be doing much to help the team move forward if you're gimping your damage. I'd pick this up.
Quote:2. You're including full sets of some sets (Eradication, Scirocco's Dervish, Touch
of Death) that have positional defense bonus, when Ice is a typed defense set.
You are getting a fair bit of positional defense, but that will apply only to fire,
cold attacks which don't have s/l/e/ne components (very rare attacks).
Quote:3. Energy Absorption could be better slotted with mix of EndMod and Def (try
to max out Def, Rech, EndMod)
Quote:4. Having the knockdown proc in Quick Strike will make it convert to knockback
when the proc fires, as Quick Strike already has a chance for 0.7 Kb (which
already turns to knockback vs. lower-level foes)
Quote:5. The Numina global would be better in Health, but it appears you want the full
set for the ranged def bonus
Some things not pointed out, are that you've over slotted CE and WI. Neither needs more than one endurance reduction. Having the taunt in CE is a preference issue, but I don't consider it needed. CE does well all on it's own.
I'd consider dropping Permafrost to make room for Power Siphon. You can 5 slot Hoarfrost with Doctor Wounds and use the 6th slot for the Steadfast Defense IO. Yes, being a meat shield helps the team, but being a meat shield and helping kill foes faster helps the team even more, and improves overall enjoyment for you and the team. -
Well, I was waiting for this to sell before mentioning it, but it seems to have finally gone through. I was able to place an Apocs: Chance for Neg up before anyone else could bid or sell one after the reboot. I kept hearing to aim high, so I placed it at 250 million. Previously, it had enjoyed a two month stay at 200 with no bites. Well, logged in tonight to see that it went for 300! Woot!
So it may be moving a little slow right now, but just have a little more patience.
*still waiting for that Soulbound Dam/End to go through.... -
Quote:Always a good read, but I would contend that the ash ring was only meant to keep Smokey out. Not to hold him in. When Ilana and her crew head to the cabin, it is only after seeing that the ring is broken that they become more cautious. Also, Smokey (if he was kept there) would have only been kept there a short time (compared to Smokey's life-span). The cabin was built by Horace and would have been used by him up until the Purge. I think the ring was there to assure Richard that, when he was in the cabin, it was only Jacob who was there, and not the Man-in-Black.I believe the Man in Black was trapped there for a while, but some time before Oceanic 815 crashed on the Island, he escaped.
This assumes that Richard would use the cabin to meet Jacob, since the trip to the statue was a long one to take. -
So are we using a very loose definition of the word "better?" Not one of those theories made any sense with regards to the show at the time they were thought up. They seem to have focused on one aspect of the show and ignored the rest of the continuity. That, or they came out of left field completely.
-
The emblem/cloak clasp gets a "hmmm." But the illustration makes the emblem look like a large medallion sitting on his chest, rather than part of the costume. Feels a little out of place.

I've been wanting to scream this bit of info in the tanker forums for the past couple of weeks. I'm glad everyone gets to know about it now!
-
Woot! Free Transfers!
Does this have a cap, like the last time you guys did this? Or is this an unlimited amount of transfers since the offer is only for a week? -
This, but I would change it to include the Mako triple as well, and just have the one PZ proc. Also, with the change to Brawl being a zero end power, you could place one acc and then proc the hell out of it. You'd probably get more out of a proc on brawl than you would three slotting it for damage.

Quote:You mean like adding serious damage to Siphon Life? Because they did that. Now DM is one of the strongest Single Target sets around.Alright. This has gotten out of hand.
Dark Melee needs a serious boost.
Quote:back when I made my character years ago. He was a worth while tank.
Quote:Wasn't op'd wasn't unpowered. Now it's just sad. The accuracy of dark Melee is so unbalanced with out 3 or more yellows you don't hit crap. When I have trouble hitting another player 20 some of levels below me. Something is wrong. If I have issues hitting any NPC that is blue to me. Something is wrong. Seriously ncsoft. WTH have you guys don't to Dark Melee? -
Quote:I'll agree with you that the heal can be lack-luster in some situations where SOs are the only option for a player. Considering SO's are the balancing point in the game, they could tweak the heal to be better situated for that. But, if you're prepared with purple inspirations or have Weave/Combat Jumping going, then you should be able to get better heals off.I like the points you make. All but one. The heal in ED CAN do 50ish percent of your health bar IF you can survive in a crowd of 10 enemies long enough for it to activate. Pre-softcap that is not easily done with /EA. I read somewhere that it was meant to help when you're grouped facing large spawns. From my experience facing 3 or 4 enemies at a time, when i'm in need of some healing it feels meaningless. Granted, i'm looking at it the wrong way.
Anyway, my point was to qualify the circumstances required for it to do that kind of healing.
You give me hope Rylas
Glad I could inspire you! Find the best IO build for your brute, and I'm sure you'll unlock plenty of potential! -
Quote:Too many weaknesses? I think that's over stating it. Not having enough DDR, I can agree with. The rest? Nah.EA has issues. It simply has too many weaknesses for the utility of stealth (an ability anybody can easily acquire in the PvP zones as a temp power). A Defense Set with low DDR, PSI Hole, Hard to Cap Typed Defense, virtually meaningless heal in Energy Drain, Fury building is hurt by Stealth, no resist to end drain, hard to justify passives, ... Needs some love like /Elec got recently. I'd love to see a defense based Electric Armor that trades Lightning Field for Energy Cloak - nuf said.
Psi hole: So many sets have this hole, that it's pointless to single this out. Psi damage is also one of the lesser used powers by NPCs.
No resist to end drain and the "meaningless heal": Well, you have En Drain, which can be up in 30 secs. Being a defensive set, you should avoid most end draining shots (especially Energy based ones!!) so ED should be enough to compensate. Also, the heal in ED can get you up to 50%, hardly meaningless.
Fury issues: Use taunt. Stealth becomes meaningless after that. I have no issues getting Fury because of stealth.
Hard to Cap Defense: Here's a little template showing how EASY it is to soft cap EA to all but Psi. There's plenty of slots left for enhancement for your powers, too. This was a DM/EA build, but you could easily work it out for other primaries.

True, but Membranes currently range from 40-80 million a piece and are extremely low in stock and high on demand. There are faster, less expensive ways to get items to achieve the goal. Though, that way would get all the way to the ED cap.
-
I can confirm this. I have my DM/EA brute soft capped to all but Psi. He's hella-tough, and fun as all get out.
-
I've got soft-capped defense for all but Psi (yes, I soft-capped Neg.) on my DM/EA brute. With the AoE heal and Siphon Life, he became pretty darn tough. Also, he was hella-fun to play!

Quote:I think it's also safe to assume that not everyone is as forum savvy as the all-knowing, lacking-in-patience, Snow Globe. So when they ask a question, a reasonable one at that, in the Player Questions forum, they don't need to be reprimanded and beat over the head for asking a good question. It is safe to assume that any information that is official would be found in one of two places: The Developers Digest and The Community Digest.
It is also safe to assume that any release of official badge information will be posted to the Badges and Gladiators section of the forums almost as soon as it is revealed. -
I know letting out too many details at this point is a "no-no," but would it be possible to get some clarity on what the article was saying.
The writer mentions tip missions, will these drop for players in Paragon and the RI? He also mentions Praetoria allows players to do this more easily. So, does this mean there's contacts who allow you to switch sides rather than waiting for tip missions to drop? And what's the drop rate on this tips?
Cool vid! -
Quote:Well, if you're the kind who depends on outside buffs, sure. But why take up the defenders focus from your squishier teammates?although i do see the point in that, as a tank you would be receiving external defensive buffs more than others, having a higher base hp and regen may be more assistable as hoarfrost could be saved for emergencies as a large heal, unless you can get enough recharge to perm it, then yeah go for s/l first
I would second capping your S/L defense. But also the E/N as well. Both caps are easy to get. Then recharge. Why bother getting HP bonuses when Hoarfrost will cap you anyways? Especially if you get accolades, then HP bonuses become even less necessary. Defense and Recharge on an Ice/ are all that's needed.
Just make sure to frankenslot Energy Absorption to max out the end mod/def/rech abilities as much as you can. It's not hard to get those near the ED cap using that method. -
Quote:Maybe he/she asked because they were afraid they missed the details from a Q&A or some other announcement. No need to get in a bunch over it.Why do players ask questions they KNOW cannot be answered because of NDA? It happens every single closed beta. If someone knows, they cannot answer you. You'd be far better putting this question to the developers instead of asking other players who would risk not getting invited to another closed beta if they did answer.
