I haven't run a successful one yet! Team always ends up with 6 people right at the end and becomes impossible (or at least really, really difficult).

    [/ QUOTE ]
I've had one success and one non-success.

I don't say defeat, because we weren't really. We just couldn't pull off that last one because our main debuffer decided to first:
    - Leave for half an hour to go eat
    - Return and stick around for half an hour to help and then finally say "I'm out" and leave.

So without a good constant debuffing (aside from me), we just couldn't take down Ghost Widow. It was a stalemate though.

Oh and Trick, *points to sig*

    From the linked article:
    [ QUOTE ]
So the player cap in The Hive and The Abyss has been lowered to 50 players.

    [/ QUOTE ]

SG/VGs allow more than 50 members.

And since it's an open zone, and not instanced, it's certainly first-come/first-serve.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I don't see this as much of an issue:
    From the linked article:
    [ QUOTE ]
... there's no longer a minimum time period before Hamidon will spawn again...

    [/ QUOTE ]
Missed out? OK, let's run it again! A set of well-oiled groups (which I assume these would be as they're all SG Mates and reasonably skilled enough that they're all 45+) can easily mow through the requisite DE spawns needed to spawn Hami.

After that, it'll probably be a quick fight and that's all she wrote.

Aren't tyhose just Tech Sleek, though?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope, they look like an entirely different 3D model. The arms look new, too. And the wings! I want the wings!

    [/ QUOTE ]
Arms look like the crey tank arms which currently aren't arvailable desptite having access to the Chest, Legs, and Boot patterns. Hopefully we'll get the helmets eventually too.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The arms are either the Steampunk or Tech under the Robot Arms 2 setting. I can't tell from the angle of the shot, though I'm leaning toward them being Tech.

I can't place the gloves though. Look a bit like the Tech Sleek ones, but I just can't tell for sure with all the Inventicube's glow.

I believe it's been confirmed that both his boots and gloves are inventable costume pieces

    No.

    Currently confirmed Costume Inventions:

This thread HAD to be started by someone who either a) joined POST ED, or b) wasn't active here until POST ED.

    [/ QUOTE ]
His Reg date reads 9/09/05, which makes it about a week after ED hit. Of course, Reg dates are notoriously inaccurate...

On the subject of ED though:

Did ED hurt? Yeah. I have bittersweet memories of pre-ED gameplay.

Was it bad? No. ED was not bad for us. And with Inventions coming, ED was, and is, necessary.

I will say that I was very disappointed in the handling of ED. Not that it was a global readjustment (not quite a nerf because everything changed with it). I was unhappy with how releasing it was done: in secret and basically asking the CoV Beta'ers to proofread the announcement so that everyone else could swallow it easier. That was not particularly good at all.

Even with that black mark, I'll say it again to the Devs: Thank you. Rocks and all, this game has been (and continues to be) fun for me.
  6. I keep thinking of that old story (urban legend?) where States sic'ed Kronos on a mean team.

No, States doesn't need to jab back at people here... he's got your number in-game though.

I'll go with LadyMage's example though:

States and Co., you've all given me 3 years of fun. There were rough spots, sure. And I've had experiences in this game I wasn't pleased with, but on the whole? I love it here.

Thank you, from the bottom of my little gamer heart.

Oh - and I'd love to do a giant mech game. Love it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'm kind of surprised there isn't an MMO based on 'mechs yet. An entire genre of anime is based on giant mechs - I'd think there'd be a huge market for a Battletech, Robotech, or other 'mech-based MMO...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Exteel

    [/ QUOTE ]
Except Exteel isn't really an MMO... more of an FPS with MMO flavoring.

And Jack, if you do a Mech/Mecha MMO, I promise that I will take back every nasty thing I've ever said about you and the rest of the Devs. EVER!
  8. From a production stand point, it's sheer beauty. Absolutely wonderful camera movement and the editing was very nice.

But I'm going to have to agree with Infinite and the squirrel. The Statesman fight was... lacking. All that he did was be a punching bag and make a little thunder to no effect. It didn't come off that he was a credible threat to the villains. He wasn't dangerous, wasn't what we're kinda expecting the "legendary" Statesman to be.

That said, I'd still love to see any other vids you made further on down the line.

I'm looking forward to the Avilans! Maybe that means that somewhere along the lines they might add ATs for the other travel powers. Teleporting and super speed could be some awesome combat. Just a thought.

[/ QUOTE ] Avilians are scrapped. Instead we'r gettinf WINGS for every AT in the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]
That's not a very good assumption. Mainly because wings are different from an Epic Archetype. Also, there hasn't been any announcements regaurding the Avilans' cancellation. Unless the devs says so, it's not true - just a reminder for everyone.

Another thing to ponder upon is that everyone thinks the Avilans were cancelled just because the wings are coming. Well, hasn't anyone ever taken into consideration that the reason the devs are giving everyone wings is because they don't want wings to be limited to an EAT (so people won't complain "why do I have to be an Avilan?!#$!")?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Exactly.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    To quickly touch on this:

On September 1, I PMed Castle, Positron and Statesman with the same comments and questions. The basic question was, "Have Avilans been scrapped now that wings are coming out?"

A read-reciept was requested on each one.

On September 5, Castle read it and replied: "I cannot comment on this."

On September 15, Positron read it and did not reply.

To date, Statesman has not read it.

I didn't wade through this whole set sorry, scanned a few pages.
Is JUST Defender Trick arrow getting pluses, or the shared Defender/blaster set also getting some love?

    [/ QUOTE ]
As per _Castle_'s original post, Archery will be getting a slight buff:

    [ QUOTE ]
    3) Archery: Fistful of Arrows, Rain of Arrows and Ranged Shot animations shortened.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is assumed to affect all versions of Archery, so yes, Blasters will benefit as well. And this is of course along with the previously stated End Reduction for the early Archery attacks as well.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Where does the term "hammer space" come from? I understand the gist but I've never heard that expression before.
    -mb

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Anime.

In various anime series, a female character would smash a fellow character (usually male) with a large hammer for doing something wrong/foolish/etc. The hammer is comically large and therefore could not be hidden on the female (usually petite) character's body.

Therefore, it's said that the hammer is stored in an other-dimensional space when not in use. This space is commonly refered to as "hammer space"
  12. Just did a quick timing session on the few powers I do have that don't have any Rech enhancements:

Flash Arrow - 15 Second recharge
Entangling Arrow - 18 Second duration/4 Second recharge
Ice Arrow - 18 Second recharge
  13. [ QUOTE ]
    Entangling Arrow
Effects: Immobilize, -fly (long description mentions that it halts jumping as well)
    Area: Single target
    Duration: 5 seconds
    Recharge: 19 seconds

    [/ QUOTE ]
I think this needs to be corrected.

I don't know the exact values, but I know I can perma-Immob an even con with Entangling Arrow which has no Enhancements at all (it did have an Immob TO, but that went red at least 2 levels ago).
  14. A few things that might need looking at as well include:
    - Flash Arrow: the ToHit debuff seems remarkably low and is non-stackable. Was this power intended only to serve as a Perception debuff with a hit check?

    - Entangling Arrow: it hits the target, but the Immobilize doesn't take effect for a brief moment.

    - Glue Arrow: the recharge on this is horrendously long.

    - Ice Arrow: the activation animation ends with a short pause. Could this possibly be shaved off?

Now, those are the only big ones I can think of since I've only got limited experience with the set, but that there's some love coming down the pipe makes my TA/A Defender shout with glee.
  15. I believe it's a known bug... or at least it should be since it's been happening for at least 1-1.5 months now.

  17. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
    ...yet another unkept promise.
The Devs haven't said boo about getting Community Representatives for Archetypes other than Stalkers. Oh, and before you mention that _Castle_ picked up the Defender issues--he dumped them a few weeks later.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I did? Funny, I still read them every day.
Oh, and I'm going to look at Blasters now that I've gone through the consolidated Defenders bug list. You guys got one?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think it can now be said that while _Castle_ started as the Stalker Rep, he has now graduated to the Global AT Rep.

Or it at least seems that way.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Actually, the issue (per Castle's post in the training room section) is that the +perception on Tactics is modified by the same percentage as the accuracy. In other words, Defenders with Tactics are going to be far better at seeing Stalkers than Scrappers with Tactics will be at seeing Stalkers.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Correct.

Tactics on a Defender will yield better +Perception than Tactics on a Controller.

Tactics on a Controller will yield better +Perception than Tactics on a Scrapper/Blaster/Tanker.

From Castle's example, a Scrapper with Tactics and IR Goggles will have an anti-Stealth range of about 700 yards. Unfortunately, Stalkers with Hide and Stealth will have a Stealth range of 900 yards.

Defenders with Tactics and IR Goggles have an anti-Stealth range of 930 yards. Thus, they will see Stalkers at the 30 yard mark and Scrappers will never see them (unless they add a third +Percep).
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Practiced Brawler is perma with 2 recharge SO's, if you have quickness or not. My mistake.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Only if the SOs are white or better.

If they're yellow, you'll have a gap of a couple of seconds. If you're PvPing, that gap can kill you, especially if you're hit with a few Slows.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Giving a reward for the beat down encourages bad behavior by those too motivated by gain to see that they are being total a$$e$ with their camping and griefing.

Take away bounty and much of the griefing goes away, too.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    I disagree.

As it stands, Bounty is only collectable on someone who has not been defeated for a set period of time. If you hit somebody who's just come out of the Hospital, you get nothing. This completely invalidates the notion of racking up large quantities of Bounty by just killing players coming out of the Hospital.

And as for griefing... it depends on what definition you're using. Repeatedly hitting the same person over and over and over? No incentive to do so as you'll probably only get Bounty for the first kill and none of the rest. Plus after you get your Most Wanted target, it changes to another player.

What this goes to is that there are incentives to being just AFK in the safe zone and doing nothing at all. People want the badges for being in the PvP Zone for X amount of time, but they don't want to PvP.

In situations like this, if I'm given a target that refuses to leave the safe zone, I'll ask them to either zone out and back in to clear my target, or just come out to fight real quick.

I would ask that ALL players who intend on just sitting around the Hospital to turn on the options to see opposition chat and grant ALL requests for zoning/target clearing.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
The fix is quite simple: improve drone Perception. They're there for a reason, and it isn't so that yabos with decent Stealth can sneak by for a quick gank of some poor sod that just got mediported.

    [/ QUOTE ]
A way for Drones to destroy Decoys from the Illusion power set should be looked at as well.

As it stands, a Cont can just send a swarm of Decoys in to tie the Drones up in firing at invincible targets. Once the Drones are busy doing that, practically anyone can waltz right in.
  22. I had already sent in an In-Game Petition about this sort of thing (Heroes sniping Villains in the Bloody Bay Hospital) and after a back and forth discussion of me trying to figure out if this was a violation of conduct and therefore called for the unmasking of the hero* (so to speak), it finally ended with a response that they're looking into it and will fix it "Soon."

    * = I refused to reveal the identity of the hero who was doing this until I had a clear answer of "Yes, this was a violation." I'm a firm believer of, "If it's a fair tactic, no harm should come of it." To note, I never got an answer on that.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
You'd think nullifiers would be a bit better considering they cost 450; turns out they're lt's that have burst, slug, buckshot, and M30 grenade.

    [/ QUOTE ]
They also have some sort of Sonic power to debuff other combatants. But, yes... they are rather lackluster for their price.
  24. First off, really sorry for the hassle all the villains had. They really should have made Breakout optional for the event.

That said, I LOVED this event.

I rolled up Snapperlight, a Sonic/Energy Blaster for it. Had tons of fun flying around. Yes, lag was bad, but really... it was going up to Siren's Call 20. It's to be expected.
Did a lot of air jousting with villains. Particularly Abby, a pretty mean ??/Rad Corruptor. I almost had her at first, but she had reinforcements that nailed my heroic butt to the ground.
After that, I hooked up with a team that was defending the gates... literally. The villains in my shard were camped out less than 100 yards from the hospital.

Got surprised by a few Stalkers, but far less than I would've guessed. One even failed to one-shot me with Assassin's Blow (? The MA Assassination).

Anyway, long story short, I managed to kill Abby a bit before closing time. All was well with the world.
  25. Best.

    Movie.

    Ever.

    Excellent work and happy birthday.
