And foo! you could at least show the colored version I did! -
Oh yea? Show me some examples :P
Oh and she doesn't have elf ears either :P -
Well yes that's partially true Derek.
But draw REAL things that are in front of you. not pictures of things. But it also means every day objects. The coke can next you. Your computer mouse. Your bed. The whole bedroom. Your sleeping pet dog. Whatever, it doesn't matter. Just DRAW it.
You can't make an accurate 2D representation of a 2D Photograph. Real life has depth and meaning, a photograph by it's very nature does NOT. It may simulate depth but it is not 'true' depth. Also camera flashes screw up most lighting. :P
So just draw stuff sitting around. A paperclip. A Pencil. Anything, everything. Stare at it very carefully. Figure out where the highlights are, where the shadows are, where the reflections are, where there middle values are, and so forth.
It helps a zillion deal. -
Oooh he's right, no claws! *rips up the piece of paper i was working on* NO ART FOR YOU!
-
yes listen to them, absorb, learn, then do your own thing later :P but you will have better foundation that way and will still do things 'correctly'.
-
I have a couple tattoo ideas, but I just don't know if I'm brave enough to get them done, OR if I can find a good enough tattoo artist to actually do them. :-/
-
Wait Foo, when do you draw in the Nude? Don't you get cold?
-
Psst. Also if you notice when you click on a pic, there is that line there that says 'Link to a friend', just copy paste that and there ya go.

Particle man, particle man, doin the things that a particle can! Is he a dot, or is he a speck, nobody knows, particle man!

Oh yeah i know Sohaju. Right now i just go along with what he says for the assignments, knowing full well that when i do my own work I can do whatever the heck i want!
-
Are those all artists running from TA, Alex?
-
Huh. really.
I bet my professor would hate those. He'd want us to do everything the manual old fashioned way. :P -
Battery powered... eraser?! How the heck does that work?
-
You were hoping that their skirts were going to flip up at some point so you could get a peek at their unmentionables. :P
What? you know it's true! -
I'd comment, but I'm currently picking my jaw off the floor.
Great job graver. Seriously. It's amazing. I want one! -
I use the mechanical pencils eraser that is on the end. It's very very tiny, and is the same rubber eraser material as my big rectangle rubber eraser. You can also use the big rectancle rubber eraser too, just use an X-acto knife or razor blade of some kind to cut it into a 'wedge' point, and use that to erase small fine details as well.
Another tip, get you one of those 'Erasing shields'. Basically it's a small piece of metal the size of a credit card, and has various holes and shapes cut into it, you lay it down on the paper and hold it still, and then erase inside the hole. You can get VERY fine edges and such with that.
I'll get you links to example screenies later when I get to work.Or heck I"ll take a pic of MY materials with my phone :P
