  1. So THIS is why everyone suddenly posting the same journal with all the CoHers :P
  2. That happens to me some times, at least it did on my work computer, where Photoshop/Painter/anythign just wouldn't read the pressure from the tablet, so I had to restart the program, or restart the compy. Kinda pesky. :P
  3. Yes that's absolutely normal :P

With a tablet you have to sometimes adjust the pressure sensitivitys, change brushsizes OFTEN, etc. Zooming in helps and use long broad strokes, but yeah it's generally gonna pick up your 'shakey hand' a bit more than you're used to on paper.

Try just warming up on freehand sketches, instead of trying to precisely ink over scanned pencil work. For digital inking, I am a fan of using Farlow's tutorial's method (www.farlowstudios.com), which uses the pen and path functions in Photoshop, for nice smooth lines.

I only use tablet for sketching, and when I'm coloring, doing the shading etc, when I want a more 'organic' feeling. For things that require absolute precision, mouse works better for me, setting the paths and having it trace the line.

Of course you can always ink by hand, scan it, and THEN color it digitally, give that a try : )
  4. In times of war it is sometimes necessary to make sacrifices.

    *sob*

Yeah guess the ones i did were horrible and sorah is professionalish. :-/
  7. I didn't! I was up there on business, and they let us leave earlier than expected so we went home :P We'll meet up again another time
  8. Didn't know! Happy birthday Roxy!
  9. Oh :P LOL

Yeah another time PB! I'm sure I'll be up there again sometime or there will be some event down here soon! :P
  10. DeviantArt *IS* Myspace for Artists! :P
    And less annoying spam :P
  11. What about inking my pencils? :P hehe j/k :P none of mine are that good yet :P

Looking forward to seeing the results!
  12. Don't forget my jutey! :P
  13. I started with a Graphire 4 4x6, and it was pleasant to work with, but the drawable area was a little small for me i think. I recently obtained an Intuos 6x9, and it was LOADS different and BETTER! I liked the larger 'drawing' area as it more closely mimiced a sketchpad. The little 4x6 wasn't much bigger than a post-it, so was a little harder for me to work with.

Just my thoughts! I don't think I'd go to a 9x12, that might be a little too big :P
  14. Ah ha but your lack of comment IS a comment! I caught you in your web! :P
  15. Yeah totally :P I love collecting art, and what's the point of getting art if you're not going to share it? I love sharing it and showing off other people's awesome abilities and being jealous that I am not at that level yet :P

So thanks to the artists, the art collectors, and the art appreciators!
  16. NSFW you say? No way, you don't have NSFW piccys! *my world is shattered!*
  17. "Register with Juggertha and he won't smush ya!"

    Hey that rhymes. :P

*starts a new Civil War series. Pro-reg, anti-reg, and Juggy*

    *sides with Juggy*
  18. Really, I'm sure there's any of a dozen people that would HAPPILY volunteer to work and manage the 'fan art' section of the COH pages. FOR FREE!! I know I would! Of course I understand that's probably not even possible and all the legal ramifcations and all that... but LH? Perhaps you can pass that on to the higher ups? Just need someone with a bit of web-saavy, a little knowledge of code, a good appreciation of fan art and a good contact person for the community.

What? Okay yes I know I was just pimping myself there but I know just about anyone here who would be willing to do this would totally jump on it.

But yeah. It does have that 'outsourced' feel. I know from previous board admins the thoughts even having 'official' forums isn't well liked, rather just have 'Affliate' fan-sites and let other people admin them, and just post there from time to time with dev and community type posts. It kinda stinks because it decentralizes the community, no one knows 'where' to go exactly to find something.

If I was totally new and had no knowledge, and wanted to see fan art, my first step would be the Official coh.com site. I wouldn't even give C-G a secondary glance really, since it's not an 'official' site, just an affiliate.

    But that's just my thoughts.

And that's why we went to DA. It's well organized, and we can generate our own 'community' feel there. Kinda grass-rootsy, but there it is. I don't get that 'sense' over on C-G.

And if there is no sense of community, that area will not survive very well. I've seen it happen so many times.
  19. OMG!!

I am very glad you are okay too! My goodness, count your lucky stars!

*bigbig hugs* if there's anything I or we can do for you let us know k! Thinking of you!
  20. Do not piss off the large angry man. :P
BTW Which side would Juggy have been on? :P
    *hides*

How do I add a freinds window to my DA page? I wanna seem popular!!

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Read the whole thread :P

If you want just that 'Friends' section, you have to subscribe. Or, you can paste icons into a journal entry and kinda do it that way as well.
  22. Personally, one of the things I like most about Deviant Art, and not to say that Curse should do things 'exactly like DA' but to highlight some of the features that has drawn most of there, is the 'Blog' type atmosphere that is present. The ability to 'watch' other artists whenever they submit a journal or art pieces, a 'scrap' section that is just hubbub that artists don't want going into their 'for display' gallery. The ability to link back to other artists very easily (i.e. their DA Icon's and such).

Little 'community' features like that really help to build a community. If it's just a screenshot dump, it probably wouldn't be any more useful than something like Photobucket set to public viewing. It would be relegated to a sig link for someone to click on when they want some references or something.

With DA and the journal and gallery and friends features, it becomes more 'alive'. A 'MySpace' for artists, if you will. As much as I just shuddered saying that :P

Oh and it must be SUPER easy to use. Especially for people who don't know any HTML or how to code, but with advanced features for those who DO know how to code.

That's just my thoughts for now, I'm sure I'll add more later.
  23. Deviant ID (subscriber feature) is just where you can put a picture of yourself, or whatever, and list some stats or whatever about your self. If you want. :P

The 'stamps' are simply deviations that people link to using the :thumb######: code in their journal entries. They're just like little mini images that show support for whatever.
