  1. tbh team with one mm above level 12 and double assault pays for itself imo.

I should have put a team 30% dmg buff tyvm but I was being lazy.

That's like 3/4 forge for everyone. WANT.

Sod the presence of other veats tbh.
  2. I still think double assault is worth it. 30% dmg buff? I'll take that ta. No one needs tactics in pve anyway Or pvp since it's broken atm and situational when it isn't.

You'd think someone would have demanded a server merge/split, complained strenuously about how they can't earn Double XP whilst PvP'ing

    Cause they broked it :<

It might well be the rumoured heal suppression and diminishing returns arena rollback option. *prays*

Won't be all fixed but it's a start lol
  6. [ QUOTE ]

Its a good start, but this is the kind of thing you expect to see on a test centre not on live.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I say that pretty much everytime i13 comes up. VvH parity was coming with the epic equalization, but apart from that the changes all seem negative to me, but maybe that's cause I band them all together in my mind.

I just feel like if they had movement suppression, diminishing returns and healing suppression in pve then no one would play, so what makes it good in pvp?
  7. Rollback so I can start pvping again plox tbh

If you're gonna go crazy with changes at least go gradual so that they can be tested individually.

Just seen the thread, I already have one at level 15 in a level pact with a warshade (I think the idea being that we help each other through mediocre levels by soloing), and if any posse-ing is being done I'll probably turn up one day. I'd like to do an all PPD Rikti Warzone raid. That's be frikkin sweet.
  9. I agree it's an interesting idea. Maybe putting it in place of the fourth power? So that anyone can get Placate but you have to take 3 powers to use it.
  10. ^dis

If they wanna waste their money that's fine by me, more market money for those who use it properly lol
  11. Good IO builds are part of the skillset imo. You can easily get servicable builds for little cost if you ever pve.

If you wanna pick up + play pvp go on a GW PvP server or just play CS:S
  12. Arena is awesome as it allows you to gauge your abilities against your peers in a definable way.

Now it has selectable maps... fap.

  14. Difficulty and effort are not factors for me.

Win or lose I could have fun before. Epic suppression + diminishing returns = epicly suppressed + diminished fun tbh

It just feels like the unique fun aspect of PvP has gone, but it's not like me whining will make any difference, it will still get translated to me being overpowered before or some [censored]...

Still, a forum is for conveying opinions and you can count mine conveyed.

  18. Once and for all....

IF THERE REALLY WAS AN "I WIN" BUTTON, YOU'D BE USING IT TOO

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN "I WIN" BUTTON

...except for the special dev's power.

Also, if it's not their skill, then what is it that makes the best better than others with exactly the same build? Backhanders to the GMs?

And I'll say it once again, travel powers are the only thing that make CoX PvP fun.

As for the whole "imbalanced" thing... what's to stop you from making exactly the same or similiar character to "the best" and then beating them if it's 95% AT and they have no skill? I would agree with this argument if people were allowed only one toon per server, but they are not. They are allowed at least 8, which in my opinion leaves room for a couple of PvP toons easily.

You might want to PvP with your concept toon but I'm afraid just like most things in life, it doesn't work like that and it shouldn't. Certain things are better at certain jobs than others, but this does not make them worse, infact it makes it better. It adds a diversity to this game which allows for people to have multiple versions of the same AT, e.g. an ice blaster and an archery blaster, with an actual point, rather than just having different FX. Ice Blast has better single target damage/activation whereas archery has quite devastating aoe damage (albeit sometimes resisted).
This diversification is allowed in PvE, I don't get why it shouldn't allowed in PvP.

I'd hate it if team tactics were reduced to AT rather than powersets, as this would oversimplify team pvp and turn it more in to RPS than I would like.

But then again most people with arrogant and uninformed views on PvP will ignore these words and simply cry out "OMG X IS OVERPOWERED BUT I WANT TO WIN IT WITH MY AR/TRAPS RP TOON AT LEVEL 12 WITH NO ENHANCEMENTS" because they got hit in the face once by someone who knows what they are doing in a PvP zone.

    imho

EDIT: [censored] knows I might just be speaking out of my [censored] anyway... it's late.

    PvP Tank?

Note to non-PvP community: All the PvPers I know who prefer arena to zonal (basically everyone I consider a proper PvPer) act in a much friendlier way than what the above post may imply as being the norm.

I see now why all the PvErs think that PvP is a very cold environment if the zonal community act like this.

    ....sheeesh.

I completely understand and im not trying to be confrontational, but that is YOUR choice not to do that, i suppose what im trying to get at is that everyone is on the same playing field when they start to play this game, the people that excell in different areas of the game do so because they put in the time and effort, be it rolling certain power sets earning the relevant IO's needed and creating multiple characters for that one scenario.

Im just trying to make people understand why some of the PvP'ers are reacting the way they do, as would many PvE'ers would if there area of expertease was suddenly drastically changed. which we know for a fact it will be based of the PvP list castle posted.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh I understand. I'd be annoyed if I'd spent ages leveling the ultimate stud muffin as well. I've always just thought I shouldn't have to, having to grind in a game is normally a sign that something is wrong somewhere.
I hope they tweak the movement suppression though, I like the dogfighting feel I get from pvp in this game, even though I always take SJ.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, and this is the only issue i have with upcoming changes, i will adapt to what ever is thrown at me, but by adding the movement supression i feel it takes away the one unique aspect of CoX PvP and what i personally find so fun about playing it, take away this selling point and i cant help but feel it will ruin it for me.

EDIT: Of course, my opinion doesnt have any worth in the big scale of things

    [/ QUOTE ]

Exactly. The point is that things take longer to kill, and movement will seemingly be perma suppressed unless the zone is empty or you're a stalker.

The fast paced PvP of CoX is the only real draw above other games, as most RPGs follow the same format of picking particular powers/spells/moves and combining them with other buffs/enchantments/aides from other ATs. I just think that the travel suppression alone will make PvP a lot more dull. I could learn to be good again, nothing would stop me, except my own lack of enjoyment.

and to clarify I was being ironic about my subs, because I'm getting a bit bored of the game anyway and my sub lasts till february 09 when I probably won't renew. I did lol at FFM's response tho
  22. Any suppressed foe will be easily ASable by any half decent stalker. And in i13 it looks like people will be suppressed a lot of the time, but AS is getting nerfed, as is anything that does any sort of decent damage.

30 minute last man standing duels between 2 blasters ftl tbh.

    brb cancelling sub
  23. [ QUOTE ]
We already have worked hard. Fully pimped out our PvP toons and practised for many hours most nights.

Why should all that effort be taken away from us because other people can't be bothered to step up to the challenge?

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is exactly it. tbh would any of you 4 year vets keep playing if all your toons got deleted? I'm already on the ropes for renewing subs as it is, if this goes through, combined with the fact that the rest of the lads are at uni, I'd probably stop and look for another mmo the next time I have time to kill, and start totally afresh. My time in this game has been great, but I'm not excited by thes changes at all, and as such it is almost as if pvp (or the pvp I enjoy anyway) is being deleted, detracting from the game and my reasons to resubscribe. I want the game to thrive because for reasons I cba to get in to CoX has given me something to do with my somewhat broken existance, but I'm too poor to pay subs for games I won't play.

Travel powers is what makes CoH pvp great, and though I'm not sure how heavy the other changes are (not read thread tbh), the fact that everyone except stalkers will be pretty much perma suppressed, you may as well just go into arena with travel boosts turned off (for those of you who haven't tried this, it is about as dull as playing Guild Wars in PvE).

Also the 'noob-friendly' aspect of making everything more sturdy is a bit broke. Those who rise to the top of the food chain will be the only ones killing anything (even they will be doing it slowly), and any new players that venture into zones may as well not have any powers in their trays as they won't be able to make a dent in anything.

I'm also not a fan of the seemingly unilateral pvp damage type. Different resistances to different damage types than other people is what make rpgs fun. If everything in pve was just lethal dmg and lethal resistance I'd get bored in about 20 mins.

I'm not sure how pvp is so 'epicly balanced' on other games. People throw that term around and don't actually know what it means, most likely. I wouldn't be surprised if people started saying that CS' PvP was un balanced and needed a re-work tbh. It's not like purples are unobtainable, you don't have to go to a special NCSoft event to obtain them. You just have to put some work in. Just like anything in life, the more you put in the more you take out. It'd be unfair if the people who put all their life's effort into pvp ended up no better off than the average trial account user. IOs were designed to encourage people to subscribe long term, so that they could 'pimp' their characters, so don't be surprised if you come across the odd 'pimped' character every now and again. I suppose the point I'm trying to make is that options are open to everyone. Anyone can have a Fire/Nrg and anyone can potentially purple it. It's up to you to put the work in though.

    IMPORTANT BIT:
The main gap in PvP between 1st timers and vets is skill/experience. As X4 pointed out, all the free purples in the world (hooray for test anyone?), and the most experienced people ended up winning while the casuals and first timers ended up dropping out of the first two rounds, despite massing large numbers of those purpley things.

Also, I don't have a single purpled toon on live, and I get on fine. Experience and willingness to learn and improve are the only tools you need to thrive.

This dumbed and slowed down version of pseudo-pve seems less exciting than live commentary on a GCSE exam. lolwut
