hi, Coile.
You do recall correctly as I do now. A Supermanesque hero I think.
Hyperion Star sounds great to me. Hyperion Flame, Hyperion Torch or Hyperion Storm too. That's assuming others like the Hyperion part of the name though.
Thoughts? -
The hero's name should have a certain weight as it must sum up someone who inspired others to follow his path. Perhaps a name from mythology, even from a creation myth as this would fit thematically with the creation of our supergroup.
I do like the name Hyperion, as since I suggested The Hyperion Legacy for the SG name it just sounds right. But I'm open to all ideas.
If your in game tonight Chove find me on global at @Romanov - but not during Dragon's Den. -
Sounds like a plan. I look forward to reading it.
And welcome Aero_, hope you decide to join us.
So, so far we have a blaster and a controller. I'll wait to see what other people are doing before making a final decision on whether to play a controller or scrapper. -
Hmmm, I saw three Paladins in that exact spot a couple of weeks ago. They're plotting something, I tell you.
-
So far I know who my character(s) is and why he was in the hospital but have kept the incident itself vague until we agreed upon what actually happened.
I favour the hero being brought into the ER critically injured, either overcome by an unknown science origin weapon or infected in such away that his powers have overloaded, affecting the environment around him. These effects could damage the building itself or just infect people. I think the majority of the people in the ER should die as a result, hence the memorial, but that others (us) should appear to be unaffected. During these events, our characters would become inspired in their own way to carry on the work of the hero.
As an introduction one of us could write a news report on the events. This would outline what happened externally, while leaving everyone free to weave in their own story.
We will have to come up with an acceptable name for the hero. What do people think about our supergroup bearing his name, for example if he was called Hyperion Storm or Steel Justice we could be called The Hyperion Legacy or The Justice Legacy. -
I've created two characters, which I've parked in Outbreak. Ipso Facto is a mind/kin controller and Bastinado is a katanna/sr scrapper. I have outline backgrounds for both of them and will decide which one to play when we agree on a time.
Tomorrow is ok for me, but I guess we need to know everyone who wants to be there can be there. Looking back at the thread, there could be as many as eight people.
And, yes, I assumed Union too. Also, my character will be in costume and have a hero name in line with Gorbaz's idea that they suit up for the first time when they first meet. -
What if rather than a funeral it was a memorial service, one year on from the emergency room incident outlined in the Coiles science origin, in honour of the fallen hero and any other casualties.
The emergency room in question could be the one in Outbreak. During the service the gathered survivors become aware of the problem with the infected.
During the last year, each has become aware that they have developed certain powers following the incident. How these powers have developed, the extent to which they are welcomed or mastered, and how they intend to use them, are a matter for each individual player. However, at that moment they all decide to use their powers to tackle the infected threat to Outbreak. Once the threat has been tackled, the characters can discuss what path to take.
I think we should name the fallen hero. We may even decide that the future SGs name, colours and symbol honour this person as the next generation of heroes fight to fulfil his/her legacy.
I think whatever we go with we need to make some decisions to take this from being an idea on the forum to an in-game experience.
Finally, do people know what AT they want to play? It would be nice to have a balanced team, although any combination is workable. Im leaning towards a katanna/sr scrapper or mind/kin controller. -
I enjoyed last night's session with Aufeis and Lady.
It produced one laugh out loud moment when we tried to manufacture a situation in which Aufeis was to kill a lone troll. Unfortunately, the trolls hadn't read the script. -
As has been said, Darkest Night is one of the most useful powers in the Dark Miasma set and you should factor it in if you can. Tar Patch is a take it or leave it one for me, and Ive never found Black Hole worthwhile.
As for Leadership, Id perhaps go for Manoeuvres over Vengeance as the latter does not work on your pets (because theyre dead too).
Although the Mastermind is arguably one of the few archetypes not to demand stamina, you will be running between three and five toggles so endurance could be an issue. Perhaps swap the Concealment pool for Fitness. -
I like your origin ideas very much Coile. I especially like the way that they create a common origin and reason for becoming heroes while leaving each individual player freedom when creating their own character. I particularly like the mutation and science origins. So, if it was a democracy that would be where I cast my vote.
-
I'd probably be up for this. I'm always keen to meet new people to team with and like the idea of having set nights for certain characters.
I have one hero slot left on union, I guess it would be on this server?
A common origin would be fun. Perhaps something as simple as six random people on a train when a nuclear bomb was detonated. That would enable us to rp becoming heroes and learning how to use our powers, while giving carte blanche on who are characters are. -
I'm not sure of the reason either. If you're not happy with the name or powersets, then, yes, start over. If it's the fusion of Egyptian chic with CoT coture, then maybe save up for a costume change. Either way, you'll soon get back to level 11 if you do restart.

Ahoy hoy,
Not sure if I'm missed any sessions or if there haven't been any. Are there any plans to meet up for more villainous fun?
I probably won't be playing Brangus over the double xp weekend as levelling ain't an issue with him, but I'm up for most nights next week. -
Once we are ready to leave Pork Oakes for Cap, we could search the new zone for the Crey lab. As Brangus seems to have the clearest recollection of life before he was experimented on, parhaps he could show the others where the lab is. We could take on any Crey patrols and roleplay finding clues etc.
"Mooooooooo" -
I'm also of the don't slot brutes for damage opinion. The build I have gone for with my em/inv brute is one that just keeps going from mob to mob, builds up the fury and hits everything he tries to hit. For that reason, so far, I have slotted his attacks with 2 acc, 1 end red and one recharge. Fury builds up rapidly and gives the damage you need.

Romanov's zombies are called Iron Dragon and Dire Wolf (grave knights), Rasputin (lich), Hammer, Sickle and Medved (zombies), and Valentin (ghost)
He's Russian btw. -
I'll try and get on this evening, I enjoyed the last session.
I was thinking, in terms of roleplay in this group are we talking about doing missions in character or will we do non-mission based roleplay too?
Also, there is a secret Crey lab in one of the zones, Cap I think, with cages and such. Maybe we could incorporate that into our story.
