  1. Just as a warning: There's a small bug in the NPC AI code that makes Infernal (and a few others) act in a strange way.

The non-Praetorian version of Infernal summons demons Himself, rather than having a portal that does it. These demons are on a long timer and automatically despawn something like 8 minutes after they are summoned. NPCs that summon pets aggro on you if you kill one of their pets, even if they aren't currently aggroed. When a demon despawns, if you had dealt even one point of damage to it, it generates the message "You have defeated Demon", even if you aren't close enough to see the message. This means that when the demons despawn, he probably aggros on you.

I've heard stories of people fighting Infernal, dying, going to the hospital, skipping Infernal, and then (because of what I mentioned above) he aggros while you're halfway across the map from him, and he doesn't catch up until you're in the middle of fighting a different group, or worse - Lilitu.

Moral of the story: If you don't want to fight Infernal, don't throw even one punch at him. He will hunt you down and kill you if you don't finish the job.

On the other side of the argument, this version of Infernal is part of the <Vindicators> faction, and so are all the pets he summons. That means that every one of them you kill gets you credit towards Hero Slayer, which is part of one of the villain accolades. If you can survive a prolonged fight with him, you can finish off your badge by sparring with him until he summons enough demons.

And I'm going to answer without reading any of the rest of the thread, probably repeating what several others have said.

-Primarily a support character, I like teaming way more than soloing, however...
-Able to solo decently for getting through cape/costume/tips/etc when I have to
Controller or Mastermind. Both have the means to keep themselves alive solo (control and/or pets). So do defenders and corruptors.

    Quote:
-Has some sort of stealth so I can explore those high level zones I have never quite made it to
Illusion control has two different options.

    -Can heal myself
    Radiation Emission does that.

    Quote:
-Does NOT include buffs that have to be continuously reapplied to team members one at a time (Force Field, Thermal, etc.)
Radiation Emission has no targeted ally buffs, except the rez.

I'm thinking I should probably go with Defender or Mastermind. Controllers are amazing support and are WAY fun, but I have yet to be able to solo one... like at all, and it drives me crazy when all I want is my cape. Maybe Dark or Storm for the stealth? I dunno. Any suggestions?
Illusion has two good attacks plus Phantom Army fairly early, and Rad's debuffs, buffs and heal keep you upright. You can use an Invisibility power and let the pets do all your fighting, if you're patient, or jump in and help them out. And when you get your Phantasm, things get even better.

Even though you stated you don't want a troller, your list of wants screamed "ILL/RAD TROLLER!"
  3. Did you run the Patron arc on your Bane? As I said above, Soldiers (including Banes) only get access to Patron Pools. There are no Ancillary Pools for them.
  4. The Achilles Heel proc doesn't actually debuff the enemy; it gives the enemy a short-duration autopower that makes it debuff itself. So it doesn't matter if the attack comes from you, your pet, your teammate, or some guy running past on the street, the debuff always comes from the same target: The enemy that's getting debuffed.

Tanker Bruising is a different power, therefore it will stack with the Achilles Heel proc. However, I believe that Bruising uses the same mechanic as the proc does, meaning that multiple tanks Bruising the same target will not debuff it into oblivion.

My Rogue characters have had no problem running the Patron Arcs. Are you a Rogue (a Villain with access to Paragon City), or a Vigilante (a Hero with access to the Rogue Isles)?

If your character was originally a Hero, and has only shifted alignment once, then you are a Vigilante, and must shift at least one more time (to Villain) before the Patron Arcs become available.

Also, you cannot get the arcs by talking directly to the Patrons. First, you must speak to Arbiter Rein, who is standing on the steps outside Lord Recluse's tower. He'll give you a mission to go read about the Patrons, then he'll let you choose one as a contact. Only after doing this will they speak to you, and even then, only the one you picked.

That depends. If your character is one of the five basic Villain ATs (Brute, Corruptor, Dominator, Mastermind, Stalker), then you should get access to APPs (Hero Epic Pools) automatically when you select your level 41 or higher powers.

If your character is a Widow or Soldier (ie, one of the Villain Epic Archetypes), then you do not get access to APPs, only PPPs. And just like any other character, you have to run the arc to get access to PPPs.
  7. You could always open the window you want to scale, then use the slider in the options menu to resize everything, then adjust any windows that need it back to their old values.

Horrible work-around, I know, but it works.
  8. No, you can enter the club (or rather, an instanced version of it) during his arc. Ashley is the contact that gets you access to the Club, and, as already said, she offers the mission at 30.

There's no real need to enter the Club before then, really, as all it does is give you access to Cimerora (which is gated at 35), a few badges, a store (which only offers 35+ SOs), and a way between Paragon and the Isles (which is offered via the Submariner, RWZ, and Pocket D at earlier levels).

    EDIT: Type slower, Dechs.
  9. There may be laws against you selling it, or even renting it, but it's perfectly legal for you to charge people for watching you use it.

    Brute primaries

Well, it's not a complete build, but this has over 3k HP with OwtS active, and 2414 hp (6 over the scrapper cap) when OwtS is down.

No it doesn't. DRR caps at 95%.

However, my SR brute with 46% def to all needs to take the alpha from a double spawn of def debuffing enemies to drop below 40% def, so the difference is negligible.
  13. No biggie, most of us are pretty easygoing.

*Ships Redeemer off to a home*

    Now, where was I... Right.

Both the "Search and post there" and "Don't necropost" rules apply here. There's no hard rule when the cutoff occurs. Generally, if there's an active thread on your topic (New posts in the last few days/on the first couple pages of the forum), post there. If the post is a couple months old, probably better to start a new thread. If there hasn't been a post in 3-4 months or more, best to let it rest.

There is an autopurge of old, inactive threads, but a thread has to lie dormant quite a while before it kicks in, and certain things (like having a post from a dev) can prevent it from autodeleting (see: threads with no new posts in 3 years, but a single post from Statesman on page 2 keeps it alive, though buried on page 83 of its forum, even though States is long gone).

You've got it backwards. Every tick of regen restores 5% hit points, and nothing can increase or decrease that. Recovery works the same, though I think the number's different. Regen/Recovery buffs and debuffs change the frequency of the ticks.
  15. Whoa, necropost.

No, you cannot get the badge by teaming. You MUST do your own Patron Arc.

  17. You've got it right, Werner. Before the change, a high level brute could easily sustain the 85% fury needed to stay on par with a scrapper. The problem with that model was that other brutes, tanks and scrappers (and other ATs, but to a lesser extent) seriously cut back the Fury generation a brute got from incoming attacks, making it so that none of the brutes on the team operated at full potential.

Under the new system, it's a lot easier to get up to a moderate level, even on an all-brute team, and a solo brute, or one that's not competing too much for aggro can often get near the same level of Fury as before.
  18. If you're a Willpower scrapper, the answer is Soul. Willpower's weakness is alpha strikes. Nearly softcapped def to all for 15 seconds, every 30-45 seconds mitigates that nicely.
  19. You do not lose progress when they run out. Just the opposite: they must run out before you can get more progress.
  20. You forgot to deduct the market fee, so that's more like 1675/ticket at 1 million/rare.

There are several rares that sell for 2 million, and some even spike to 3-4 million, so if you're careful with your pricing, and VERY patient, you could push that up to about 6700/ticket, assuming you didn't flood the market beyond the point of sustainability.

The best return is almost always going to be rolling in your favorite recipe pool, crafting, and waiting, even though that wasn't reflected in my earlier post, since I was going for quick data.

If someone's willing to go to the effort to farm the tickets, roll for them, and list the results on the market, I just can't fathom NOT taking the extra time to do a little research and crafting to increase your profits by an order of magnitude or more.
  21. Yes. Yes it does.

Your card and badge are in the mail.

    Congrats!
  22. No, the HOLIDAY WEEKEND is the 26th to the 28th. Issue will be released AFTER that.

    Quote:
Our goal is to release Issue 19: Alpha Strike! as soon as we can after the Thanksgiving Holidays (November 25th through November 28th).
I agree that it's a little unclear, but a simple glance at a calendar shows that the quoted dates are a Friday to a Monday, and comprise the holiday weekend. It also clearly states that I19 is after the holiday, "as soon as possible", not in a specific range of dates. It's entirely possible that we won't see I19 at all this month.
  23. Praetoria is to City of Villains what CoV was to CoH, graphics-wise. Expect things to be choppier than CoV by about the same amount as the performance hit you take going from Paragon to the Isles. If you don't notice a difference between the two, your performance decrease should be minimal. Even if you've just got onboard video, update your video card drivers to help improve performance.

Additional things can be done to help improve performance outside buying a new computer. If you have less than 2 gigs RAM, you'll lose a LOT in performance; adding RAM will help a lot. If you've already got 2 gigs or more, adding more won't help a lot. Defrag your hard drive. Make sure that you don't have any malware hidden on your computer. Shut down unneeded programs running in the background.

If you can run without GR, you can run with GR, especially outside Praetoria. And you get a fair amount to do outside Praetoria with GR: tips, new powersets, revamped arcs in Peregrine, new costumes, side-switching, and soon, the Alpha Slot and other Incarnate-related stuff.

tl;dr: I run on a 3 year old, very low-end computer that's probably similar spec to what you've got, and I run GR fine. Not great, and not Ultra Mode, but good enough.
  24. Last time I used one, it had a glitch where its icon would appear in your buff bar while the toggle was on, or in clicks, for a few seconds after using the power. If this is still happening, it's just a display error. As Nova said, it's always on (as long as you don't exemplar more than 3 levels below the level of the IO).
