My response was to the claim that AAO was pulling so much aggro that the "tank wasn't tanking", which I read to imply that they weren't considering a tank for the third spot. I was just pointing out that the issue with the tank wasn't universal to all tanks.
-
Quote:WP has the weakest taunt aura. Shield has one of the strongest. In order for a WP tank to keep aggro with a Shield scrapper on the team, they need to use Taunt regularly; they can't rely on just gauntlet and their aura.Me and my brother used to have a nice trio with a friend. DM/SD Scrapper, Earth/Kin troller and WP/SS Tanker. But our tanker isnt playing anymore (or lets says he didnt came back for 7th anniversary with us) but another friend did.
We'r wondering what would be nice for him to play to fit with our scrapper and controllers. Our problem with the old trio was that we lacked defense on some AV or really badass mob groups and my AOO was generating so much aggro the tanker wasnt actually tanking the stuff.
However, if you still want a tank on the team, another shielder will hold aggro much better (since he'll have a higher threat level than the scrapper, plus will be adding additional taunt through gauntlet). The shield tank would also add another layer of Grant Cover, providing you some of that extra defense you asked for.
There are a few other tanks that should be able to hold aggro, even with the shield scrapper on the team. WP just isn't one of them. -
A simpler solution would be: if you want your enemy to fall asleep, stop lighting them on fire.

You really need to fix the Coercive Persuasion frame of that gif. My brain twitches every time it snaps up one pixel from all the others.
-
Just in case the bidders don't realize this, you might want to point out that you can only make one A-Merit purchase per day (unless those merits are spread out among different characters), which means that this transaction would take about 4 days to complete.

Most often when that sort of thing happens, the mission has a specific enemy that is scripted to spawn in a certain area (usually to provide dialogue). The scripted enemy will have a specific level range, but the mission will be available outside that range. When this happens, the enemy will spawn as close as possible to the actual level of the mission, but will usually end up a few levels too high or low.
A classic example is that in the Citadel TF, there are 2 or 3 Council Soldiers that are a type that spawn grey. Most people don't even notice them, because they collapse the instant any AoE is thrown, or a melee character with a damage aura runs in. -
Quote:They're not saying that Fireball critting is a bug, they're saying that, if Fireball gets a 100% crit chance from Hide, it's a bug. This is very odd because my friend told me his scrapper can critical with Fireball (which is written in the description). I thought Scrapper can't critical with Epic powers? This doesn't sound right because other epic sets can't critical like Throwing Stars.
Stalker should score critical with both Epic/Patron. I am not sure if it's just Fireball that is bugged or other Epic sets are "naturally" better so Fireball needs to critical to make up for it.
Stalker ST attacks get a 100% crit chance from Hide. AoEs are only supposed to get a 50% crit chance from Hide. -
That used to be true, but I'm pretty sure follow will get you into melee range, even when flying/hovering. That's part of why they changed melee attacks from a 5' range to 7'.

What is the most painful character I've ever attempted to level?
Quote:Hey! You're right! :PWarshade is the answer.
Almost irrespective of the question, now that I think about it.
To the OP - nobody can answer that question for you. What's fun for me, is not for other players. What's fun for you can't be answered by us. With the recent server list merge, you now have a minimum of 180 slots. Roll as many as you think would be interesting, and try them all out! -
Only gonna answer for the ones I've played.
Quote:The damage aura does help with your AOE, but it's still slow enough to notice a difference. I prefer the brute version of this combo: The quick ST attacks, plus taunt in the various auras to keep things attacking you rather than running, keeps your Fury high, which makes the damage aura do significantly more damage. When you get higher level, you can add gloom for a STRONG ST attack and Dark Obliteration for more AoE, and you still stay with your Dark theme. On top of that, at Incarnate levels, you can add Void Judgement for more Dark damage. Even though it would break theme, consider Pyronic Interface - the damage proc version in a damage aura is a nice bonus.DM/DA Maybe a very underused armor set and something I could make a concept around. Would death shroud give me enough extra damage to make me feel like Im moving a bit faster? There is something about the ability to add Absolute Amazement into Soul Transfer that just adds to the survivability of this combo.
Quote:BS/Inv I like katana and the debate on which is better, but BS has a nice balance and inv is well Inv.
Quote:Claws/Inv or WP (scrapper or Brute) I have a level 20 claws/inv already nice combo, but I got distracted with the real word and when I returned I just never moved forward, but that could change.
Quote:Some more babbling I cant get into shield unless its with a sword. Ive tried DM/SD a couple times, but for some reason I lose interest a concept gap for me.
Quote:So, the never ending question . Your opinions please?
Thanks in advance! -
When you set it for 14 days, it instantly boots everyone who hasn't logged in for more than 14 days. There's no need to wait. (EDIT: I recently read elsewhere that this is wrong. When you set it, it starts a 14 day timer (in this case), and at the end of the timer, boots everyone who didn't log in since the timer was started. From that point on, it boots anyone who passes the 14 day threshold. Changing the timer resets the counter, and it's people constantly messing with things that apparently causes the issue that I mentioned below)
However, I'm in a channel that's been capped for quite some time, and from what the channel mods have been told by GMs, it sounds like the command isn't working right now. If you get it to work, let us know. I'm sure the people who run that channel would like to know. -
Actually, you can carry 2 billion even. And if you were to list at 2,105,263,157 it would take 105,263,158 up front, then another 105,263,158 when it sold and you claimed it, meaning that you'd take 1,999,999,999 out on a successful sale.
Of course, since you can only hold 2 billion, you can only bid 2 billion, so the item would never sell. But 2 bill is OK. -
If anyone was watching the really long ustream at the right time, you might have caught Zwillinger and Ghost Falcon discussing this article. While doing so, one for them mentioned this statistic, and called it a "comma error" - there were supposed to be three more zeroes.
I was thinking about that this morning. If I were to pull together all my raw Inf (not counting the "value" of my stored IOs), I could probably safely say I'd have about 5.6 billion Inf. That means that I hold 1% of 1% of all the Inf in CoH.
That sounds like a paltry sum, but another way to look at is that, if there were only 10k subscribers, they'd all have the same amount of Inf as me. I've no idea how many subscribers there actually are, but I'm sure there's more than that, by a factor of 5 at least. And we've had at least two threads recently about people having 50 billion or more. And there's at least a few people out there with Smurphy levvels of wealth.
This has me wondering about the distribution of wealth in the game. If we gathered up all the marketeers, farmers, and other people who have over-the-cap levels of wealth, how much Inf is left for everyone else? What percentage of the playerbase are they? And do we have any way to know, or even make a reasonable guess as to what these numbers are? -

In the case of Account Name clashes, the EU account gets "EU" added to the beginning. Neither Account can be renamed.
All trial accounts have their Global Name changed to @Trial-XXXX. In the case of a clash between a US and EU Global Name, the EU account has its global renamed to the last character logged in before the change, with letters dropped from the end if a clash remains. These can be changed with the Global Rename token, by using "Change Chat Handle" in the in-game menu.
Sounds like you got the two mixed up a bit. -
Quote:Personally, I'd just add customization to Weapon Mastery. Have the player choose Thrown Weapons, Bow or Rifle. One choice affects all powers. Caltrops, Focused Accuracy (or is it Targeting Drone?), and Physical Perfection (for the Stalker version) remain unchanged. Web Grenade gets replaced with the equivalent from Trick Arrow or Assault Rifle. Shuriken gets replaced with Snap Shot or Burst. Expolding Shuriken gets replaced with Explosive Arrow or M30. If that doesn't work within the realms of power customization, just give all theree powers from all three "sets", and when you select any one, lock out all the attacks from the other two. Since all three are lethal damage, leave the stats for the attacks the same, regardless of which animation is used (ie, Snap Shot would not be faster than Shuriken, Burst would not have -def, etc). What I'd also like would be an archery pool for scrappers (maybe tankers and brutes as well) might be a bit specific, but it would go with the other weapon sets (and wouldn't require you to make any new animations)
(snip)
Archery mastery would be relatively simple: Just splice together a few archery powers and a few Trick Arrow ones:
Flash Arrow
Ice Arrow
Aimed Shot
Explosive Arrow
Acid Arrow
My thoughts on APPs/PPPs in general: To my knowledge, there are eight types of damage available to players: Smashing, Lethal, Fire, Cold, Energy, Negative, Psychic, and Toxic. Every AT should have at least one set that can deal each type of damage. If that damage type cannot be provided in at least one primary or secondary choice, it should be added for an Epic.
So all four melee ATs should get a Psy epic (possibly similar to the Psy attacks Aberrant Rectors get?), Tanks and Brutes should get Toxic, all melee except Tanks should get Ice Melee/Armor or an Ice epic, and so on for all ATs (with the possible exception of EATs). -
I didn't read the whole thread, so I'm not sure if this has been mentioned.
Quote:That's not exactly right.Random is random.
There are misconceptions about the reward system. I can't find the post at this moment, the devs have explained that the reward system works basically like this: If you sit on your hands, 10 threads, if you participate, then a you get a random reward.
There's TWO participation metrics: personal and league.
If your personal+league participation is below a certain amount, you get threads. If personal+league is above that threshold, you get a reward table. Yes, if the league is good enough, a doorsitter can be bumped up above the threshold and get a "real reward".
There are multiple reward tables, each with different odds of C/U/R/VR. Which table is used to offer you your reward is based solely off the league participation metric. That means that if you are more active, you are not increasing YOUR chance for a good reward - you're increasing EVERYONE'S chance.
Also note that - per dev confirmation - neither AoE, high damage, debuff nor mez directly increases your chances for a good reward.
However, all these, and other factors, increase your ability to quickly and successfully complete objectives, and a few players have commented that they typically see better rewards on fast, successful runs. This has not been confirmed by devs though - at this time, it is purely conjecture. -
Unlockable contacts (are supposed to) only show up in Oro if you've unlocked them. If you don't have Lorekeeper, it's a bug that he's even there.
If you DO have Lorekeeper, it's a bug that he's not offering any missions, but that seems the less likely scenario, since he worked properly for Katze. -
Hopefully this isn't the case, but: The announcement said "inactive accounts in good standing." If his account was banned, it won't be reactivated. A while ago, several people reported that their accounts had been permabanned (pending verification, which got them reactivated), because someone was trying to steal accounts. I'm pretty sure that banned accounts are marked in the Master Account, though, so if he can get that far in, he should be able to tell.
Something that's more likely, that I just thought of: Is he a EU player? If so, and his login was the same as a NA player's, then his login now has "EU" added to the beginning. -
Well, those were both bloody obvious. Thanks guys.

Quite a while ago (but I'm fairly certain it was after we switched to these forums), I found a button that showed me a list of everyone who had posted in the thread I was reading and how many times they'd posted in the thread. Clicking a name took you to their profile (as normal), and clicking the post count brought up a search for all their posts in the current thread. I've tried to find that button again, but it eludes me. Am I mistaken, and it was part of the old forums? And if it is part of the new ones, where the heck is it?
On a related note, when I "Search for more posts by this user" on a forum profile, there are links that go directly to that person's posts. However, when I use the advanced search tool to search for a username/phrase combo, I seem to only be able to go to the thread, not the specific post that triggered the search result. Am I doing something wrong, or is that a forum limitation? -
I have farming scrappers, and even a blaster that can farm (but only on specific maps). For a /Shield Scrapper, if you softcap your defenses, take Tough, slot as much resist as you can in Deflection and farm S/L, your HP will be more than enough.
Ultimately, all you need to do is drop their HP to 0 before they do the same to you. If you're killing fast enough, YOUR health should never be an issue. -
Quote:Preatorians that are still in Praetoria will be locked out. Praetorians that have left Praetoria and went to the "right" side for their AT will remain usable. Characters that aren't their "right" alignment (Praetorians that left on the opposite side, and anyone who's changed alignment - including Rogues and Vigilantes) will be locked out. Characters that switched alignments but went back to their native alignment will be accessible.Stuck in Praetoria. Any praetorian characters will be unplayable until you apply a valid Going Rogue expansion to that account. You might be able to play characters that started in Praetoria, villain ATs in Paragon, hero ATs in the Rogue Isles, Vigilantes, or Rogues, but I wouldn't count on it.
Quote:I also wouldn't count on keeping or using any Hero/Villain Alignment merits earned during this week either.
Quote:Any Demon Summoning or Dual Pistols characters will be unplayable until you apply a valid Going Rogue expansion to that account.
Quote:While you might have the costume parts beyond the reactivation week, you will lose them the instant you modify that costume at any tailor, unless you apply a valid Going Rogue expansion to that account.
One additional thing: Visiting Praetoria with Primal characters will not lock you out of those characters, even if you forget to get them out of Praetoria before the end of the reactivation week. Anyone who tries to load into a zone they're not allowed in gets bumped back to Atlas or Mercy, depending on alignment. -

Quote:Also, you can't get any temp powers at all from the shipments. If you do, the badge attempt automatically fails.the current way the lambda badges are set up is you have to run them with a fully enraged marauder 3x for all the badges
one run you have to get 10 acids and 0 grenades and not use any (cant get any drops from courtyard either)
another run you do the opposite of the above
another run you get all 10 of both and use none
as they are currently you cannot get all 3 of them in 1 run and you have to do 3 separate runs all with a fully enraged marauder (which IMO is honestly retarded and non-intuitive)
