  1. If you're fighting from range, S/L doesn't protect you from everything that Ranged does. But it does protect you from some ranged AoEs. In general, it will protect you from less than ranged defense does. If you're mixing melee and ranged fighting, S/L covers you from a lot that Ranged doesn't. It's impossible to say which is best for ALL situations though. There's too many variables.
  2. It depends on how you play. If you're keeping the enemies at range, go Ranged defense. If you get in the thick of it, go S/L. If you do a bit of both, S/L is usually better too.

    There is no universally right answer to that question though.
  3. Right now, if you get V Merits off a Lt or higher enemy, you get two or more merits, and one pop-up from each. If you get drops from multiple enemies close together, it can create a lot of screen spam. Can we get this changed so that it says "You got 2/3 units of Vanguard Merits" like it does for Reward Merits, and just flash the pop-up once?

    That's also crazy. I'd put it at 10%, but I'd expect 5% to be a more reasonable expectation.

    It seems that it would involve geometry, rather than particles, to look right, which could present some tricky technical issues. But it's still an idea the FX team would like to look into. Thanks for sharing!

    This is "I want some awesome Patron Power that isn't Gloom/Shadow Meld/Scorpion Shield but is just as awesome, but can only be obtained from the blue side, while Gloom/Shadow Meld/Scorpion Shield are still only available red side".

    Not sure if it's the same thing, but sometimes when I turn on Ninja Run while moving, I stay in the normal run animation, especially when I'm experiencing high network latency. Turning, strafing, jumping, or just stopping and moving again all fix it. In all cases, it's because I'm going into a new animation, so the server is re-sending the command to start a new animation.

    This is an issue with your computer and/or connection. It never happens to me, and my computer sucks.

    If you're not using your invention/salvage drops, then you should be selling them. Even if you just vendor them, they should provide plenty to slot your characters without help. It always works for me.

    For recipes, this is true, with the exception of when you (for example) get a Karma (level 10-30) from a level 31 foe; then it's going to be max level for the recipe. Likewise, if you get a Luck of the Gambler (25-50) from a level 24 foe, it will be 25. TO/DO/SOs have a bit of randomization to them. I wouldn't complain if they evened it out a bit though. They seem to drop underlevel FAR more often than over.

    Temp powers were added to the same drop pool as costume recipes. They have no effect on the drop rate of Invention Recipes. The drop rate of the costume/temp pool was increased when temp powers were added, making them show up more often, but this is NOT at the expense of other drops. They do make your inventory fill a bit faster, but if that really bothers you, delete them.

    The drop rate wasn't changed. And Rare means Rare. Why should Rare recipes be common?

    If you set your difficulty to +0, then the BASE difficulty is +0. All missions (except ones on outdoors maps) have a random chance for enemies to spawn a level higher than the base difficulty. In addition, missions can be "frontloaded" or "backloaded" meaning that the enemies at the front can be up to 2 levels higher (in frontloads) or lower (in backloads) in the front of the mission, and up to 2 levels lower (in frontloads) or higher (in backloads) than the base difficulty. This is working as intended. If you want to keep the enemies +0 at most, only do outdoors missions, or set your difficulty to -1 - That IS why they added it, after all.

    No. Just like Lord Recluse, Statesman is a TF/SF contact, and would therefore be ineligible. Signature NPCs who have no purpose would be the perfect choices: Spark Blade (The Katana/Gun pool would be taken by a lot of people, I imagine), Rose Thorn, Flower Knight, Coyote (Give him somewhere to hang out outside the new tutorial), Back Alley Brawler (Again, move him outside the tutorial)... There's probably others that could be used as well.

    As far as the "becoming their sidekick" part goes... Did you forget the part where you betray them, beat them up, and TAKE their power?

    EDIT: And to differentiate the Hero ones from the Villain, a new term, like "Tutor" or "Mentor" should replace "Patron".

    Find someone with City Traveler that took Fly at level 6, get them to exemplar to level 4, check their flyspeed.

    Alternatively, roll a Peacebringer and level it to 4; their inherent flight power is an exact clone of Fly.
  13. I'd rather see APPs left open to all, and a group of Hero Patrons added, unlockable only by Hero Alignments. If you want ALL your epic pools opened, you'd have to run an arc on each side.

  17. Before I started collecting Accolades and Incarnate Powers, my Dark/Willpower brute could stand in the middle of a +1/x8 group of Rikti while I went to make a sandwich, and still be at full when I came back.

    Of course, Dark is NOT the best choice for farming, as has been mentioned before, and Willpower adds nothing to your kill speed, since it has no damage buffs or attacks. If you have an AoE heavy primary, /WP might be worth looking at.

    However, if your primary focus for this character is going to be Rikti, I'm going to echo the /Electric Armor suggestions. Fire/ is probably your best bet for a primary, though Elec/ would work too, and be a better thematic pairing. Claws and Super Strength can pump out some impressive AoE damage, but drones, heavies and any Lts and Bosses that use Swords and/or Psi attacks will have noticeable S/L resist.

    If you do go with /Elec, remember to pick up a Steadfast Protection Knockback Protection - If I remember correctly, /Elec's KB protection is in Grounded, and Grounded only works when you're on the ground. That means that if you jump to reposition or are standing on sloped cave floors (which are common in Rikti maps), you'll lose your KB protection.

    I doubt that would be the solution. If so, how would the system decide if the email was intended for "@Someguy" or "@Some Guy"?

    Well, we're not sure exactly what's happening to the AE buildings in Atlas and Mercy during the revamp, but I'm pretty sure the one in Galaxy is going away in i21.

    Then again, so is the rest of Galaxy. :P

    I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to matter. If you DO have certificates to claim, do so (don't waste your vouchers!), and if it lets you send the mail afterwards, make sure to /bug it.
