Quote:Rikti Invasion (first phase): Run around like a chicken with its head cut off. When you see a bomb, destroy it.I have participated in a few zone wide events (ex. Ritki envasion). I feel lost in what to do and where to go. I want to contribute, but frankly have no clue what to do. Please help.
Rikti invasion (second phase) and Zombie invasion: Get in the middle of the pile of people and kill stuff as fast as you can.
Praetorian events: Follow the instructions on the pop-ups.
Deadly Invasion: Wipe out all the monsters around all the banners before the timer runs out, then break the banners. When all the banners are broken, kill the Monster that spawns. -
Quote:Heal resistance (and regeneration debuffs) say "Hi!"The one thing that untyped, nonpositional damage can't beat? Being healed.
Granted, I can't think of anything other than Hamidon that applies Heal resistance (unless that's how heal decay in PVP works), but it still exists, and could be added to other things. -
I play exclusively on Victory. If I wanted a high population server, I'd play on Freedom or Virtue.
I am a "mostly soloist", but that doesn't mean than I refuse to team, or that teams are hard to find when I try to form or get on one. Yes, it can be harder to form a team for less popular content, but oh well - it can still be done.
The last time I logged into Freedom, the popular areas were throngs of bodies that I couldn't have picked out a specific person in the crowd were I inclined to. It was like there was a BAF or two forming at EACH Wentworths rep. On my server, there's few crowds, and a few times a day, someone runs past me who I recognize, usually prompting a quick "Hi" via a tell or global channel. There's less people there, but far more friends, because I can actually get to know people, rather than being inundated by dozens - if not hundreds - of strangers.
I don't have to know everyone on the server s hell, I don't have to know everyone on the team, and 9 times out of 10, I don't. But I enjoy playing with people I know a hell of a lot more than endless strangers because I can never find anyone I know.
tl;dr: You can merge my server when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.
There are solutions though! You can move those characters onto more populated servers. You get one free server transfer every month once Freedom goes live, and if you want you can spend your Point stipend on more if you want to get it done faster.
On top of that, don't forget that they're opening a new VIP server specifically for the people who want to get AWAY from all the free players. That suggests that they're expecting a population spike with Freedom. Maybe you won't NEED to move to find the population you desire. -
I'm looking at a bit of a strange idea for the slotting of a DP/Kin corruptor, and hoping someone could tell me if it's a horrible idea or not.
Basically, I'd be 6-slotting five attacks with Kinetic Crash for the +7.5% Recharge bonus, and picking up as many other recharge bonuses as possible. If I can fit in 5 Kin Crash, 5 LotG +rech, and 5 5% set bonuses, that's 100% recharge before adding in Purples, Hasten, or Siphon Speed.
By using elemental ammo, the powers won't ever cause knockback, so the huge KB enhancements won't matter, and Fulcrum Shift should keep me damage capped, so the low Damage Enhancement values should be fine too.
My biggest concern is survival - I'm fairly certain that FS alerts enemies, so if I stealth into a group, FS and nuke, I'm going to eat an alpha between those. On top of that, since the damage is a DoT, I might take additional damage. So I have some questions:
-Will Fulcrum Shift's -damage apply before they can attack me?
-Will the +def from Hail of Bullets kick in before they can attack if I queue it while FS is animating? (I'm guessing not)
-Does HoB Scourge like Rains do? (ie, if they're at full when I start, will later DoTs Scourge as enemy HP drops?)
-I doubt I'll be able to slot for many defense bonuses if I'm focusing on +rech. Will CJ + Weave + Maneuvers + Stealth + Steadfast + Gaussian's provide enough def to "probably" survive the Alphas I'd take? I can't use Mids' right now, so I'm guessing that's about 20-ish def total. Do Corruptors have access to Scorpion Shield?
-Is there anything blatantly obvious (or not so obvious) that I'm missing that would make or break this idea?
Thanks for the help. -
Quote:Not true. It will roll to proc every time the power is used, even if the power can't cause knockback (for example, if it's in a Dual Pistols attack and elemental ammunition is in use, the power will have a 0% chance of knockdown. The proc will still roll, and will work if it rolls low enough.).Also a bit more useful in powers that are guaranteed to kb, as opposed to those that have a chance to do so, since the chance for +rech is dependent on the power actually inflicting kb, even if the target is itself resistant to the kb on its own.
I suspect you're thinking of the rule that governs how procs function in pets. If you were to slot this proc in a pet, and the pet used an attack with no KB attached, the proc wouldn't even roll. (It wouldn't have any effect if it did fire, since pets are immune to +recharge, but that's irrelevant to this example. Just getting that out of the way before someone "corrects" me.) -

It's pretty obvious that Nova Praetoria occupies the same location on Praetorian Earth as Springfield does on Primal Earth.
-
Nova Fist does a massive hit of Unresistable damage. It's well over the tanker hit point cap, so it should kill anyone it hits. Thankfully, we have the "One Hit Code", which is a check in the combat system that caps any damage dealt to a Player at (their max HP - 1). This means that, if you're at full HP, no SINGLE hit will kill you, but anything that follows will. It also means that, since it checks against max HP, not current, if you're missing even one HP, you're dead when it hits. Attacks that deal their damage in multiple ticks have the One Hit Code applied on each tick, so they can actually one-shot someone at full health, if they hit hard enough.
Nova Fist only deals one tick of damage, so the one hit code saves you. The problem arises from the tons of potential attacks coming from the reinforcements - it's really easy to take one point of damage just before or just after the hit.
To the OP: I have no problem with Unresistable damage. I DO have a problem with UNAVOIDABLE damage. Hami and the Crystal Titan have cheating attacks that autohit, and deal special damage that bypasses resistances we can build for, but there's special inspirations we can use to avoid the damage. Toxic attacks (that we're unlikely to have high resistance to, if any) typically have attack vectors that Defense can help avoid. Nova Fist, Battle Maiiden's Lance, and War Walkers' Orbital Cannons have a warning to get out of the way. The damage in Keyes? Autohit, zone-wide, unresistable damage. You can't defend against it, you can't get out of the way, and there's no inspiration to prevent the damage. You can't stop it, you can only fix it after the fact. This, to me, is unreasonable. It shouldn't be possible to stop all incoming damage of every type, or even some damage of every type. But just as every type of protection should have an Achilles' Heel, every devastating attack should have an impenetrable barrier, even if it's hard to get, or impossible to maintain long-term. -
Quote:The softcap is ALWAYS 45% (except when dealing with enemies with +ToHit, which includes enemies higher level than you).If I read Mid's right, the unslotted defense it provides is 52%
If the defense soft cap for a blaster if 45%, then slotting PFF for defense is basically a waste?
PFF doesn't really benefit from enhancements. Defense only helps if you're dealing with +3 or higher enemies, since the value starts so high in the first place. And Endurance only helps if you're running multiple travel powers at the same time, since you can't do anything else with it running. The best thing to put in it is a Karma -KB or Luck of the Gambler +Recharge in it. Don't use Kismet +ToHit, since that IO functions like a proc, and therefore only benefits you while the power's in use, and +ToHit isn't helpful when you're Only Affecting Self. :P -
Synapse outright said that there is NO powerset proliferation coming for Dominators. They're getting new powers, but they haven't said what, or even dropped any hints.

You cannot recolor game channels, only Global Chat channels.
-
You can click the LFG button on your chat window and enter the queue, and wait for it to fill enough to start, or you can preform a league, and have the league leader enter the queue. If the league is bigger than the minimum, it will start immediately (with a small delay if it's an open trial). If the league is too small, you'll stay in the queue until enough others join. If the league is too big, you won't be allowed to queue up.

I thought it was Avatea? I'm pretty sure the forum change and post on how to change your forum name came before Zwilinger joined us. Though I suspect either could do it.

The timer on the "once per day" rewards is 20 hours. So theoretically, you could get as many as 6 of the Incarnate Salvage rewards in a 5 day period. Also, the timer is per TF - You can get one from ITF, one from LGTF, etc, etc, with the only possible overlap being STF/LRSF - I'm not sure if they count as the "same" TF for purposes of the Incarnate salvage. I can confirm that they count separately for Hami-Os and Merits, so I suspect it's the same with the Salvage.

If you were to pick a melee AT, I'd go with Willpower. It's (in my opinion) the smoothest ride from 1 to 50, with no serious highs or lows.
For the ATs you mentioned, I'll repeat the Fire/Dark corruptor, and add that an Ice/Dark is almost as good - it has less damage, but more debuff, and even a hold or two, depending on the level you exemplar to.
For a controller (or dominator), Plant Control would be my go-to set. I'm not sure which secondary I'd choose, but I suspect Plant/Rad would work well. -
Quote:The Snaptooth mission available year round (by those who have unlocked it) is the Valentine's one. That one does NOT offer a rez temp power.iirc one of the options for beating up Snaptooth for the past 2 years was a rez power so try finding someone with the mishes still available
The Baby New Year mission from Father Time (located in the Ski Chalet during the Winter Event) is the mission that offers the temp rez power.
It just so happens that the Ski Chalet was opened at the end of DXP weekend and if I remember correctly, should be open for about another week. However, when they open the Ski Chalet in the off season, they don't always let you run the missions (sometimes it's just there for the ski slopes and the candy keeper). I haven't been in there this time around, so I don't know if Father Time's mission is available.
Even if it's not, you can buy Candy Canes from the market, and trade them in at the Candy Keeper for any of the Winter Badges, Costume parts and/or Temp Powers. -
Semantics and Nit-picks! :P
Quote:Case changes don't matter. "Roderick", "RoDeRiCk", "roderick" and "RODERICK" are all the same name.Names can have 20 letters/numbers/special characters, even if you don't include CaSe ChAnGeS, the number of possible combinations is staggeringly huge.
Quote:26 letters 10 digits 4 special characters, thats 40 unique identifiers per character slot.
20^40. Twenty to the power 40.
The first character must be alphanumeric. That reduces it to 36 x 40^19
If the first four characters are "The ", they get moved to the title field. This reduces it to (36 x 40^19) - (40^16).
Trailing spaces and consecutive spaces are not permitted. This is a far more complex formula.
Furthermore, this only determines the number of 20 character names. The base number, before eliminating invalid names, is 40^3 + 40^4 + 40^5 + ... + 40^19 + 40^20, or 1.1545 x 10^32.
Quote:It's a number so large, it is beyond reasonable expression. It is more than the number of stars in our galaxy (which is a mighty four hundred billion, or 400,000,000,000)
I think it's something like 1,099,511,627,776,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 possible combinations (not including case-changes, which bumps it up enormously)

Don't forget that you get one free transfer per month of VIP status, once Issue 21 goes live. So if you can wait a month or two, it'll be free.

Quote:Schedule A SOs give 33.3% each. ED starts to take effect at 70%. If you're dealing with over-level SOs, then yes, ED starts to hit you. But for simplicity's sake, I was using even-levels.Also Roderick
ED will affect the second SO - its almost negligible but it does exist - its just enought to go through the first threshold so gets reduced to about 98 or 99% effectiveness, the third one gets hit much more so - drops to about 93%, the 4th about 10% and after that you only get a couple of % -
However, if you use the /bindsave command, or click "Save Defaults" on your keybinds menu, it will create a default binds file that will be loaded onto every new character you make (it won't spread to existing characters unless you tell it to with /bindload or "Load Default", and that's a per-character change).
So if you've got characters who use special bind sets, be careful how you use your default bind settings! -
Quote:I missed this on my first read. I'm guilty of this one too, which is another reason I love Ninja Run - it gives me a visual cue that it's still running. I think that Super Jump has a visual effect, but it's masked by auras and powers and buffs and thirty million explosions going off beside you. Ninja Run drops you into a crouch between every attack, and flips you on every jump.(I'm bad at that. "No, I was sure I switched to CJ.... oh, hello SJ, why are you still running?")

Quote:Fire Assault/Invuln with Defiance. Load the attacks with Kinetic Combats and Thunderstrikes and the Resist powers with Aegis. Add Combat Jumping, Weave and a Steadfast Unique. If you're not softcapped to all but Psi, you're damn close, plus good resistance and a self heal. And if AT modifiers are attached to Inherent, as suggested above, both your ranged and melee damage are insanely high. If Endurance is a problem, add Brute Energy Mastery for Superior Conditioning and Physical Perfection (and another ranged attack AND another cone).Fire Blast with an armor. /shield would work for abuse purposes.
Not nearly as overpowered, but Dual Pistols/Super Reflexes would be damn fun.
