  1. You've paid for 3 months.
    You've played for 2.
Where is this third token supposed to be coming from?
  2. Electric Armor can shrug off pretty much any Smashing, Lethal or Energy damage thrown at it, so any large outdoors map with S/L/E enemies will work for you.

The groups for you to look for are Rikti, Freaks, and Council Empire.

There's a few outdoors Rikti missions in the RWZ story arcs. Most of them have Vanguard Soldiers and Turrets kill-stealing from you. The one that takes place on the burning forest map is nice for farming, but it's really easy to accidentally complete. Alternately, you can just run repeatable Borea missions.

Unai Kemen is a farmer's best friend. He offers several missions on big outdoors maps with a variety of enemy groups. Quite early on, he'll give you three missions in a row to click glowies; one is Banished Pantheon, one is Family, one is Council Empire. The BP are too debuff heavy for serious farming. High-level Family have had their XP and Inf rewards nerfed, but their drops are still normal, as far as I know. The Council Empire are perfect for most farmers, and since it takes 20 glowie clicks, it's near impossible to accidentally finish.

Unai also has a few large Freak maps, but most of those have had timers added, and top level Freaks have also had their XP/Inf values reduced. Like the Family, they should still have normal drop rates.

If you're redside, you could try Liberate TV, but it's mostly Fire Armor that farms that, because they've got the fastest, biggest self heal (other than dark, but you don't want to use an accuracy-based heal against a bunch of Nemesis with 6 layers of Vengeance on 'em :P ).

The other major farm is Harvey Maylor's demon farm, but that's almost pure fire damage; you don't want to farm that on an Elec tank.
  3. I've just skimmed the thread, so forgive me if anyone else has brought this up.

I don't take godmodes with a crash that flatlines me. The Shield and Willpower godmodes are OK, but completely draining my end bar and dropping my toggles isn't, in my opinion. Especially if I'm supposed to be tanking for a group.

I can't think of a time where I've needed a godmode on any Tank, Brute or Scrapper more than once an hour, so the 25 minute recharge on Demonic is plenty for me. Even better, I can pick it up at 25 and it doesn't cost me a power pick. And if I've got global recharge, it's available even more often. Archmage is a little trickier to pick up, but provides the same benefits.

tl;dr: Skip your Godmode, go badging instead.

  5. Eviscerate is the reason I don't play Claws. It's so good I can't bring myself to skip it, but I hate the stupid animation so much that I can't convince myself to take the power. So I end up just not playing the set at all.

Only Swipe and Follow Up do less damage than Shockwave. Yes, Shockwave is an AoE, but so are Spin and Eviscerate, and they both do more damage at lower tiers. It's ranged, but so is Focus, and it does more damage too. And to top it all off, it does Knockback instead of Knockdown, which really annoys some players. Overall, it's just not very impressive as a Tier 9.

I'd suspect that the complaints you've heard are about Shockwave; most players aren't as conncerned about Eviscerate's animation as I am, and there is NO other reason to complain about it.
  6. Most procs check once per target when slotted in AoEs, regardless of whether the proc affects the target or the caster - that's why people put the Force Feedback proc in AoEs; you get more uptime, even though it doesn't stack.

This makes me wonder: Does GSFC slotted in an AoE like Tactics check per target? If so, it would be a huge benefit to pet classes, and to people who teamed frequently. And if it does check per target, does it stack?

Six Accolades and four Day Jobs on each side require you to fully switch over before they're granted. There might be a couple more, but not many. Most of the side-specific ones have their names changed for the opposite side - for example, you get "Positron's Betrayer", not "Positron's Ally" - but the badges still award for every Task Force.

If you're one of those people who only care for badges that have powers or rewards attached to them, that's not much consolation. But if you're a badge hunter, you can add quite a few without ever completely switching sides.

The incentive to the "grey" alignments is the ability to cross over - you can join teams on either side (including regular missions) and do virtually any content in the game as a Rogue or Vigilante (though you can't lead all the content). The penalty is a restriction to "regular" merits and a weaker alignment power.

The incentive to the "pure" alignments is access to Hero Merits and a better alignment power, and the penalty is being locked out of half of the game.

Personally, I keep half or less of my characters "pure"; I don't need to farm the heck out of Alignment Merits on every character, especially when I can get anything they earn through other sources, usually without a time gate. In my opinion, it's the pure alignments that need incentivising.

The Steadfast Protection: Knockback Protection (which is probably the one Bill was talking about) is so cheap that you can't even buy it with Hero Merits, and can be slotted in any of your resistance powers (and as Fire Armor, you've got a few). It's 75 Reward Merits, which should be fairly easy to come up with. Do 2 Task Forces or a half dozen story arcs, and you should have enough merits. Or just buy one on the market. The level 30 version should be dirt cheap, and the level 10 version (which is the better option if you exemplar a lot) should be 50 million at most. Then again, Double XP could be throwing things out of whack at the moment.

And if Steadfast isn't the one Bill meant, then he'd be talking about the Karma: Knockback Protection, which functions identically, but goes in Defense powers, like Combat Jumping or Weave.

And if you find that the market cost is just too high for you, PM me your global name, and I'll email you a level 10 Steadfast - I have a ton of spares in my base.

    Haunt perma?

By my understanding, the way Haunt works is that it summons the two pets near the target, and grants the target an autopower that gives it a REALLY strong taunt aura that only affects the Haunts. If the target dies, the pets are free to roam about attacking whatever they notice. If they have no targets, they follow their summoner until they find one or expire.

The pets are rather fragile. They aren't meant to last any long duration, though if you've got a buffing secondary, you can probably ensure that they survive their entire duration.

Haunts aren't meant to be your permanent pet. Like other pets earend at similar levels (Carrion Creepers, Phantom Army, etc), they have a set duration, but can be made permanent with a fair amount of work. The benefit to Haunt is that since the duration and recharge are so short, three recharge SOs will drop their recharge to 1:45, giving them 1 minute up, 45 seconds down. If the duration were doubled, the recharge likely would be too. You'd get 2 minutes up, followed by 1:30 down - the same ratio, but twice as much continuous time without a pet. And if they were killed 15 seconds after I summoned them, I'd rather wait 1:30 than 3:15 to resummon.
It's fairly unlikely that their duration would be extended without adjusting the recharge. Doing so would make it possible to not only perma them, but to overlap the summons on SOs alone, which doesn't seem to be the devs' intention. The same is true of shortening the base recharge.

Once you get to 32, you'll have a permanent pet to follow you from one fight to another. He kinda sucks right now, but that's entirely due to an AI glitch that is apparently already fixed, and just waiting for the next patch to go Live. Dev comments suggest that the patch will be live in a week or two.
  13. The only power in that combination that is better on a Brute is True Grit, because +HP powers have a greater effect on the higher base HP.

As others have said, Shield Charge and Against All Odds are better for the Scrapper.

    Epics are another consideration.

Weapon Mastery might thematically fit the combo, so that's a point for the scrapper. The Fire Epics are nearly identical, so don't really favor either side. Likewise, Body and Energy Mastery are almost identical, but in this case, I prefer the brute. I like Superior Conditioning much more that Conserve Power.

For Patron Pools, I can't see anything in Mace that's good enough to warrant the double redraw of the Mace and Sword.
Mu Mastery has nothing special for Scrappers, but brutes get an AoE Immobilize.
Leviathan Mastery gives three cones that work nicely with brutes' Fury mechanic, and the debuffs and knockdown in Arctic Breath are amazing. Taking that many non-sword attacks is asking for a LOT of redraw though s it's up to you if this is worth it. Scrapper Leviathan gives Hibernate, which can be very handy as a panic button.
Soul gives Brutes Gloom, Dark Obliteration, and Darkest Night. I'd say DN is worth taking, but I'm not sure about the other two. Again, redraw is the potential issue. Scrappers get Shadow Meld, which creates an interesting slotting opportunity. Instead of focusing on set bonuses to softcap yourself, you can slot for recharge bonuses instead. It's fairly easy to get Shadow Meld to a 30 second or shorter recharge, and getting that much recharge lets you use your best attacks more often, too. Shadow Meld to softcap, Shield Charge in, Whirling Sword and Sweep to clear most of the mob. By the time SM wears off, most of the group should be clear, and you can survive on the lower defense, and SM should be recharged for the next group. Alternately, you can build to softcap, and use SM to be at the Incarnate softcap about half the time.

In general, I'd suggest Scrapper, like the others, but Brute should be damn good too.

  15. There's several PnP superhero games out there. While none that I know of specifically play like City of Heroes, I think that a lot of the missing elements are more important to MMOs, and not so necessary in PnP games, where a living GM can make on-the-fly judgement calls.

For me, I just play Heroes Unlimited.

As to say that we cannot use every keys as chord because of hardware limitation on some keyboard is a poor argument. We should neither have ultra mode when some GPU are unable to use it.
Ah, but it isn't a limitation on some keyboards. It's a limitation on every keyboard, except the top end gaming keyboards that are specifically designed to NOT have that limitation.

To use your example, making that change would be much like adding Ultra Mode, but only people with the top 1% of video cards on the market would be able to use it.
  20. My understanding is that the devs COULD enable drag-and-drop gifting for F2Ps, but if they did, it would enable ALL gifting, not just inspirations, and they don't want to enable that. Most likely, this to limit the use of F2P accounts as mules for RMT jerks s even though they wouldn't be able to mule cash, they could still mule valueables like purple recipes/enhancements if this were enabled.

  22. Just because I'm infused with the essence of the Netherworld doesn't mean that I'm oozing darkity-darkness all over the place.
Just because my body is so hot that I'm resistant to heat and even burn those that get close doesn't mean that I'm on fire.
Just because my body stores a high electrical charge doesn't mean that I'm arcing all over the place.
If my Stone tank is already made out of rock, why do I need to stick more rocks to myself to be protected?

If I do want to have one of those effects, I may want to only run one or two of the graphical effects - when a dark or fire armor character turns on all their auras, you can't see any of them clearly, let alone the character underneath.

And, honestly, a lot of the VFX on the old powersets look like crap. Instead of asking them to waste artist time on redoing all the auras, why not have them just add a "No FX" option and let me use Omega or Bio-Plasma, instead of being awash in 8-year-old graphics that don't even look like fire?

I agree with the OP's suggestion 100%. There's no reason to be forced into the graphics on most of the toggles in the elemenntal sets (Icicles from Ice armor being the only one I can think of that should be kept), and several reasons to allow us to turn them off if we want to.
