I have no idea if it does or not; I didn't check. But as others have said, if you can slot it, the proc will give the heal to the caster (ie, the pet). And since the pet is flagged as an invalid target, the proc will do nothing at all.

Just remember that if you take the threads, you lose the chance at a bunch of free Hero Merits - the first time reward is ONCE per arc, not once per reward per arc. So if Threads and Hero Merits are both of value to you, think carefully before deciding.

Thanks for the link. So the limit on MoG is actually 48.5 seconds. That is the most defining power of /regen, right? Someone described /regen to me as getting MoG up as much as possible, and using your other stuff to survive in between. Or are there other strategies for /regen that focus less on +Recharge?
You will NEVER reach the recharge cap solo. Also, the more recharge you have, the less benefit you get from adding more. To get even close to that, you'd be slotting for so much recharge that you'd gimp your build by neglecting more important things.

  5. It was fixed quite some time ago, IIRC.
  6. I'm hoping that they use the same tech that they just added to the DA arcs to give you an extra reward for running all the SSAs in a single story. Since the arcs are already on a weekly timer instead of the daily one that DA uses, I'm not sure exactly how they'd time it, but I'd still like to see something extra for running the whole arc.

Not quite any. Certain missions are flagged as "not auto-completable" to stop people from cheating on badges and/or failable missions.

  9. Remember that the token isn't awarded at the end of the month, but at the end of every 30 day period as a VIP.

If you got free time under any of the old, pre-Freedom promotions (like the 10 day trial, or the 15 day bonus from the refer-a-friend program), it moves the day that your reward token is rewarded on.

If a player started playing after Freedom went live, then the token should always arrive on the last day of the subscription. But for some people (I'm one of them), it shows up a bit off because of the effects of bonus game time.
  10. I always build for concept first. If that means skipping certain powers, or taking weaker ones when a better option is available, I will. Once I've met my conceptual requirements, I'll min/max the build as much as possible.

If there are certain things that I can't do within concept, that truly gimp the character, I usually won't play the character. But a minor loss in power to stay within concept is totally acceptable.

And I've found that an even faster way to get that first level out of the way is to go beat up literally two groups of Hellions. In the quick-spawning area where Matthew first sends you. Sometimes I get the mission from him first, sometimes I go straight there without ever talking to the contact. I'm crazy that way.
Pre-i21, I always did the tutorial. Post-i21, I never do, though I did a few times. I hate the giant Shivan. I want the badge credit from normal Shivans (Like Memphis Bill said, they don't count). And "Sure, Blue Spectrum, you can leech my powers or kicking people in the face and lighting myself on fire to save yourself... Wait, how does that work?"

There have been several times that I've gone to the Hellion infestation and street hunted for 5 minutes to get to level 4, gone and trained, then went to the similar Vahzilok area to get to level 6-8, depending on how long I feel like fighting. In the same 10 minutes in the tutorial, I get to level 2. That was before they fixed the bug that caused level 1 enemies to give 25% more XP than level 2s, but my times haven't changed that much.

And the voiceovers in the tutorial are horrible.

    Want to trade

While I can infer what you mean from your previous post, your last one isn't really clear if you want the former and have the latter items, or have the former and want the latter. Since people aren't consistent with their phrasing, it's best to clearly state what you have and what you want, otherwise, you may eend up with people who want the same stuff that you want, offering you the things you already have.
  13. How do the Trial badges work? I've never really pay attention, so all I know is I get some extra salvage occasionally; I don't know if certain rarities are tied to certain badges, or if it's completely random.

If earning the badges gets me a few extra uncommon or better salvage, then I'm all for it. If it's just going to get me more commons (or a roll on the end of arc table, which is mostly commons), then no thanks, I get more than I can use of those already.

Stuff that you HAVE to defeat in order to progress, but gives no reward, is frustrating. But this statement is at least a bit of an exaggeration.

My scrapper can drop the tentacles in about 15 seconds each. Granted, he's +3, but I don't have any other characters that far into the DA story, so I don't know how a +0 would fare. But I can't imagine that it's going to be orders of magnitude different unless you're playing a SO-only defender with no debuffs and only your T1 attack.

I was re-reading the thread and noticed this, and just realized how ridiculous a proposition this is.

Right now, the best deal you can get on points is the $100 dollar bundle. Anyone, VIP or not, can buy this and get $120 worth of points.

Under this suggestion, a Premium could spend $100 and get $120 worth of points. Or they could spend $15 to become VIP, getting $5 worth of points in the process, and then add the $100 and get $120 worth on top, totalling $125 worth of points for $115. BUT WAIT! Because they're VIP, everything is half price, so you've just given them $250 worth of buying power for $115! Yeah... not a good idea.

I have 30 A-Merits sitting on a character that I'd saved up to buy a Glad Armor Unique. I've had them for over a month, but haven't bought it yet because I'm still gathering up the rest of the IOs for the build. Looks like I may have accidentally saved myself a LOT of money.

  18. Or, you can just ignore the Assassin Focus, and smack something when Assassin Strike is recharged, knowing that even one stack of AF gets you a 33% crit chance, which is higher than your other attacks get.

    damage

Yeah, the "Low", "High", "Extreme", etc values date back to Mr. Emmerts "Number crunching makes the game not fun!" days. At one point, those descriptions were the only way (outside of third party apps and websites) to tell what a power did. If I remember correctly, recharge numbers were as obscure as the damage.

The vague descriptions being left intact (and even added to new powers) is just a throwback to that system, and I don't think anyone would really miss it if it was completely removed.

There are NO Tier-based unlocks for Epic Archetypes. EATs are (officially) unlocked ONLY by being a VIP or paying for their unlock. I say "officially" because there's a bug that unlocks them on some Premium accounts, however there is no guarantee that you will be affected by it, so until you know for sure, someone planning to drop to Premium should budget for EAT unlocks if they have EATs they want to retain access to.

What's the point in being alive, if you can't look GOOD doing it?

I take the round trip to unlock Scorpion shield on all my Heroic squishies. By planning ahead, it's easy to have your tips finished just as you get into level range for epics, and then you can switch back as you continue leveling.
  22. Do you use the forums a lot? You lose posting priveleges on them (except the four ALL ACCESS areas), and you lose all access to the Beta Forums s its like they don't even exist.

Other than that, everything's been rehashed to death.

What I don't get are the "VIPs are getting ripped off!" sentiment that a few people have expressed. I play a LOT. Probably more than the average player. 100 hours/month is a totally believable estimate. That means I pay $0.15/hour I'm playing the game. I've heard of some people who play 5 hours every day. That's $0.015/hour. If you are super mega casual and only play 1 hour a day, only on Saturday and Sunday, you're still not even paying $2.00/hour.

I don't know about anyone else, but when I was a kid, and I went to the arcade, I'd cram $5 or more per hour into those machines (holy crap! Was I really feeding them $20-50 every month?). As a teenager buying console and computer games, I'd drop $40-80 a month on new games - most of which are still sitting - uncompleted - on my shelves 10+ years later. Now, I pay $15 a month, and once every 3-4 months throw them an extra $50 for some extra points.

Now that I think about it, I *am* getting ripped off! All the other VIPs are getting a free shaft, and I've never received mine! That's it, I quit until I get personally shafted by each and every one of the devs!

Fixed, at least in part. All four can be found here, too.

And there are tons of other great books available for free via the Baen Free Library, and the BaenCD Archive at the Fifth Imperium.

And before anyone gets upset about piracy, the first link is part of the Baen website, and the second... well:

Baen's OK with them too. Those CD's that he's hosting the images of are meant for free distribution.

See that bit where I said the TEAM runs the last mission a couple of times?

Last night I was on a team of 3 doing Heather's arc. We were all going through the mission together, and each time we finished a mission, we all got credit for our own arcs. When we got to the last mission, it only completed the leader's mission (but we all got the first time reward table). Then after we exited the mission, we ALL turned around and went back in and did it again, completing MY copy of the mission. At the end, we ALL got the reward table (The first daily run). Then we went RIGHT BACK IN and did it for the third guy. And we got our second daily table off that.

So we're not being punished, we're not being forced to solo. In fact, we're being given extra missions to run, for more Incarnate XP progression, and we're getting our daily tables at an accelerated rate by teaming for the content.
