Is that actually a stated fact anywhere in CoH lore?
Note: That's a serious question. Aurora Borealis, Vanessa DeVore, Sister Psyche, Penny Yin, Katie Douglas, Fortunatas and Seers greatly outnumber... Malaise, Psimon Omega and a handful of the Awakened (Is that it? I can't think of any other male psi-users). But is that just a writer tendency, or is Psychic ability somehow tied to gender? -
Quote:The only place I said anything about "constantly missing" was in your little psychotic imagination. If you have to put words into my mouth to refute what I'm saying, don't bother arguing. You've lost and you know it.Quote:Except, you know, you have a maximum 95% chance to hit no matter what and the RNG can be streaky on that 5% sometimes.....
Technically, you CAN miss multiple times in a row with a 95% hit chance, but only if you're mixing in attacks with a lower chance. If ALL your attacks have a 95% chance, then the streak you mentioned IS impossible. -
Play First Ward. Apparently, there ARE male Seers in the Network. Why don't we see them in the original Praetoria zones? No idea.

Quote:Actually, if you have a 95% chance to hit, you can NEVER miss twice in a row.True fact: Miss streaks NEVER happen with capped acc and +tohit!
Except, you know, you have a maximum 95% chance to hit no matter what and the RNG can be streaky on that 5% sometimes.....
And because AoEs roll attacks against enemies one at a time, NOT simultaneously, if you use an AoE with a 95% hit chance (That's total hit chance, not base Accuracy) against 2 or more opponents, you're guaranteed to hit at least one of them. That's why, when I need momentum and keep missing, I start spamming AoEs. Even if I'm heavily Accuracy or ToHit debuffed, I'll force Streak Breaker to kick in faster. -
Quote:You don't need an unslotter, you can also use a respec, which many Vets have an excess of. You could even switch to an alt build and slot new ATOs there, catalyze them, and then unslot or respec them out. Once they're removed, VIPs can use converters to switch them to other sets for their other characters. Unfortunately, Converters ARE VIP-only, so conversion isn't an option for Premiums. There is a workaround for having more than 6 catalyst on a toon albeit it is a headache and can only work in certain situations. You can use catalyst on a set you slotted than unslot that set and send it to yourself via email. Problem with this it needs unslotter and can only be used on same AT.
-
As I said above, Dark Astoria is Incarnate Content, and is open to everyone. The missions are VIP only, but anyone can go in and fight the Incarnate Foes there, even a level 1 on a completely free account. Catalysts DO drop off the enemies there, though I'm not sure if they'll drop for non-VIPs. You'd have to kill a LOT before you could safely hazard a guess.
-
You realize that this thread is a funny joke, and the other is a vitriolic complaint, right? The two threads aren't really the same thing.
-
Well, they only drop in Incarnate content, so the only place a non-VIP could get them is street-sweeping in DA - They can't get into missions or trials that drop them.
I thought I read that they were a VIP only drop, but I may have confused them with Converters, which definitely ARE VIP-only. -

Quote:You might find yourself happy with the Hybrid slot, then. There's no enemy-affecting powers in it, but from what little I've read about it, it sounds like it's intended to be an Incarnate take on the Leadership pool.I'd be all for an incarnate slot dedicated to auras. Damage auras, taunt auras, -tohit auras, mez auras. Perhaps ally auras as well (i.e. +regen, +recov). Would be fun.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a later slot with enemy-affecting debuff, mez and/or damage auras, but that isn't on the table yet, nor in anything in Beta so far. -
I'm gonna tell you a secret. You ready?
The RNG hates everybody. It's designed that way.
Anyone who makes their fortune off the RNG - Be it farming for drops, making random rolls, converting enhancements, or anything else - doesn't do it by being lucky. Even if you have a stroke of luck and your first Alignment Merit roll is a Numi Unique, a Miracle Unique and three LotG +Rech, that's not enough to "have it made" unless all you ever slot is SOs and Common IOs, and only a fool would expect every roll following it to be as good.
Those of us who make it off the randoms don't do it by being lucky, we do it by being stubborn. By trying over and over again until it goes right. Of course, a little research to find the best odds helps, but even when everything's as good as it's going to get, the odds are still stacked against us.
Think of it this way: If you were to play the lottery, would you have a better chance to win if you had one ticket, or if you had 100 tickets? Every bad guy you punch, every Merit you roll a recipe on, and every converter you use is a lottery ticket. The more tickets you have, the more likely you are to win. Yeah, you might lose. But, unlike real life, you can afford to try repeatedly and fail - No matter how many bad guys you punch, there's always at least one more. -
Fixed. Taking away Synapse's blasts would be wrong, and NPCs aren't required to have pairings that are valid for PCs.

Quote:1- /t @Person Forming the BAF, I'm in the middle of a Flashback right now, and can't join the League. I'm entering the queue, please leave a spot open for me.You are not totally correct. Sure, you can play the semantics game if you like. The player is stuck indeed. If they choose to do that baf - they have lost all the progress that they made in the flashback arc. Sounds stuck to me.
2- Enter the queue.
3- Join the BAF when it starts.
4- Finish the trial.
5- Get barfed out of the trial back into your flashback (having lost progress on the mission you were in when the BAF started, but not your place in the story arc).
Where's the problem? -
Quote:I'm fairly certain that this is why we don't have asymmetrical stuff.Just as a public service announcement, performance is never EVER the deciding factor of what the devs will or will not do. The resources in question are development resources, not technical resources.
With symmetrical pieces, you just create half, then click a button, and the computer mirrors it into the other side. Do a little clean up, and it's finished.
With asymmetrical pieces, the artist has to model the entire thing by hand. This results in roughly double the work being needed.
I would love to see each shoulder option given "Both", "Right Only" and "Left Only" options. This should, theoretically, take a fairly small amount of work (though the menus would need to be tweaked to avoid a HUGE bloat on the list). Adding truly asymmetrical pieces (like the Gladiator shoulder) is likely to be an infrequent occurence. -
Brawl is not a Brute power, therefore it does not accept Brute ATOs (nor any other ATOs). Neither do attacks out of Power Pools, like Boxing, Kick, or Air Superiority.
-
The Brute's Fury proc is a special case: it procs per activation, not per target. That means that (unlike other PPM procs), it doesn't make any difference if the slotted power is Single Target or AoE.
Damage auras will check every 10 seconds. I'm not sure if damage auras use the power's actual recharge or 10 seconds to calculate the chance of triggering. Which it uses would determine if it's a good idea to put it there.
The best place to put it is in the longest base recharge power that you use frequently. I think it still has to hit something before it checks the proc, so slotting it in an AoE is theoretically better - you're less likely to miss everything in an AoE that you are to miss a single target. However, if you've got a high chance to hit, the point will become moot.
Regardless of whether you're using the regular or purple version, I'd try to get it in a 10-12 second recharge power. That way, it has a very high (if not guaranteed) chance to proc, and you'll be able to use the power frequently, even without crazy recharge. Putting it in a faster power will have the chance to get a lucky streak that spikes your Fury WAY up, but it also lowers the proc chance, increasing the possibility of getting a long dry spell of no successful procs. -
Quote:Melee cones take PBAoE sets*.So, do the two cones in Staff fighting both take cone sets, or does one of them take PBAOE?
Ranged cones take Targeted AoE sets.
There is no such thing as a "cone set"**.
*Some narrow melee cones (like Stalker Head Splitter) have used Melee sets, but I think this is an error, and all occurences I can think of have been fixed.
**Befofe IOs were added, there used to be a "Cone Range" SO, but that was folded into the standard Range SO ages ago. Since then, there haven't been any cone-specific enhancements. -
Quote:As I told you last time you replied with "Look at my spreadsheet", that's not a helpful answer, since I can't open it on the device I use to browse the forums.Yes. If you were to look at my sig and click on the link that says 'spreadsheets' in it, it says in the Converter column it works on all Set Enhancements,
Quote:even Boosted and Catalyzed. -
OK, obviously, converters work on regular Set IOs. They also work on ATOs.
I'm assuming they son't work on TO/DO/SO and common IOs, nor on the "Going Rogue pre-order enhancements" (Might of the Empire, et al.)
What about Hami-Os and the like? Again, I'd assume not, but being able to do an "Out of Set" conversion on them kind of makes sense to me.
The real reason for this post though: SBEs. Can I (for example), buy four sets of Kinetic Combat and do in-set conversions on the procs until I end up with five four-piece sets? Can I buy an uncommon defense set and do category conversions until I have 6 LotG wrecharge?
Has anyone tested converters on stuff other than what we know they work for? -
I don't have any math to tell you that the proc (any version) will pale in comparison to the EndMod enhancement.
The EndMod enhancement will boost the recovery of the power for its full duration. The proc will give ONE CHANCE to get 10 Endurance at the time of casting. Even a -3 TO will enhance the power enough that it will add more than 10 End of recovery over the 2 minute duration, and the enhancement is guaranteed, while the proc is not.
The proc is better in Stamina because Stamina activates on you repeatedly, and the proc has a chance to fire once per activation (subject to a maximum of once per 10 seconds). Speed Boost, on the other hand, only activates once per casting. The only way it would even possibly become worthwhile to slot the proc would be if you were literally doing nothing but casting Speed Boost every time it recharged, and that would be a foolish waste of both your Endurance and your time that could be spent using other powers. -
