Just FYI: The Performance Shifter proc is only going to work if you're high enough level to keep the power it's slotted in, too.
-
Slow won't change the amount of time between the damage pulses breaking the fear. It will reduce the distance they can run if they try to get out of the damage patch (though obviously not as much as the immob will), but their powers will probably all recharge in between breaks in the fear whether they're slowed or not.
If you were to stack another effect on top of the fear, I'd pick Immob. -
Quote:I'm only singling you out because you posted, I would ask this question of anyone else who said the same thing:While I don't technically use SOs (I use the standard IOs so that I don't end up with diminished and/or red enhancements as I level), none of my characters have any IO sets or set bonuses.
Do you ever use Set IOs? For example, do you stick a Karma: Knockback Protection in Combat Jumping or Hover on a blaster? Do you put Luck of the Gambler: Defense/Increased Global Recharge in characters with a lot of defense powers? Do you mix up a few dual- or triple-aspect IOs in a power to get the better enhancement value in fewer slots than SOs (or even common IOs) provide?
I ask this because my girlfriend plays the game, but - like you - isn't interested in putting in the amount of work necessary to max out a build. However, she will look at a Devastation: Damage/Recharge and think "I need more Damage and Recharge slotted in my Executioner's Shot. Let's slot that!" Likewise, she will pick up globals like the KB protection one, when she knows that it's something that will benefit her.
It's a matter of personal perspective, I know, but I don't see any difference between your attitude and hers, but I see a pretty big difference between how the two of you actually play and slot. -
Quote:-I can't afford a subscription, and only have access to SOs.Why would you want to gimp yourself with SOs in the first place?
-I don't have a big enough bankroll for IOs.
-IOs confuse me.
-This character isn't a major enough undertaking to waste the time, effort and resources to make a top-end build for.
And numerous other reasons. "SOs only" does not automatically equate to "gimp", and not everyone needs or wants a top tier build for every character they make.
Edit: Hi Bill! Out of curiosity, how much would it cost to slot a 500 million to 2 billion Inf build on each and every one of your characters? I think the answer to that would illustrate my last point perfectly. -
This is correct, except that fear can only be broken once every 8 or 10 seconds, no matter how many times they are hit.
-
When the damage from the trops interrupts the fear, they'll try to get off the damage patch untill the fear kicks in again. If they can't move, they'll take an attack instead. If they can't move, and have no targets in range of any attacks they have recharged, then they'll sit there and do nothing until the fear reapplies.

Quote:The option does nothing. I just switched myself to a white name three times, and every time I came back to this thread, my name was still gold. White = Free/Premium, Gold = VIP.Interesting. No, it looks like all VIPs were swapped over to gold by default, but there is an option to turn off the gold. So it's the other way around (and most folks seem too lazy to do anything).
Quote:(Occasionally freebies will see themselves as gold name, which allows them to post in non-access places, when the account server doesn't sync up correctly to the forum.)
Quote:EDIT: Best way to see if VIP or free/preem: click their name and see if you can PM them. Only VIPs can get PMs.
Quote:Guys, take a look at the original date of this thread. This thread was massively necro'd.
But not for long. Mod 13 should be here to shut things down in a few hours. -
I went Premium shortly after Freedom launched, and at that time, my purchased insps were being reduced to the largest I could take. Now that you mention it, I recall the patch note for the fix that prevented you from buying things you didn't have the Tier reward for. As a random guess, I'm going to say that you getting the Large insps must have been an attempted fix that happened somewhere between the two. Or maybe a bug, since I think the removal from the vendors was more than "a few weeks ago".

Quote:When a full quarter of my screen is full of Big Red Text, it actually DOES impact my play - It's SO focus-grabbing that I can't look away, particularly when it's constantly scrolling past.Lighten up, people. It couldn't possibly interfere with your playstyle THAT much.
Some way to limit it to one window would be nice - I don't need to see it EVERYWHERE. -
Free players are limited in what inspirations they can get from drops - including merit rolls. Large Insps don't become available until T8 is complete; they will be reduced to Medium if T4 or higher or small in less than T4.

Starting a new character and getting the feel for the game again, and then going back to your old characters is definitely a good option.
Paragon wiki ( http://paragonwiki.com ) is your resource for pretty much everything you need to know. If you have specific questions that you can't find the answer to, feel free to ask here on the forums. We have lots of friendly people fighting over who gets to help the newbie first. :P
Edit: Welcome back! -
This makes me sad, but from your earlier comment, I had suspected that was going to be the case. Thanks for answering, I've asked others several times, and never even gotten a "No", let alone a reason, before you.

Quote:Well.... maybe a BIT like that. But I don't use iStuff, so that's pretty much useless to me. WinMo or Android only for me.You mean like this? http://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/meek-...386290218?mt=8
Edit: After following that link, that looks like a pretty nice app. Put that on an OS I use and I'll be fired faster than you can say "Freem!" -
KO Blow and Seismic Smash are both mag 4 (according to City of Data), so two Chars and a punch is Mag 10, and two punches plus a Char is Mag 11. Two of each is mag 14. So beating mag 10 protection is easy - if there's no mez resist to screw things up.

Quote:Uniques are limited to one EACH per build. You can slot as many Unique Enhancements as you want, as long as you don't slot more than one per build. If you are using multiple builds on a character, you can slot the same Unique in each build; each build is essentially a different character, so they ignore the enhancements slotted in the inactive build(s).Ok, I am thoroughly confused about how these uniques can be slotted.
Let me preface by saying I'm getting back into CoH after about 7 years hiatus....before IO's were available....among many other things, lol.
I've also read pages and pages and pages about the market, enhancements, etc.
After reading through this thread, among others, I hear repeatedly that these uniques can only be slotted ONE per character.
reference: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/ATO
Then I read here: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Command_of_the_Mastermind
that says more than one can be slotted into a power.
I actually have 3 of these in my MM, one for each summon.
So, I'm confused about what can and cannot be slotted more than once.
I'm just confused period, haha.
Thanks in advance.
Some enhancements are grouped up so that you can only have one from each group. Currently, there are two places this happens:
-All stealth enhancements (Celerity, Unbounded Leap, Freebird, and ... I forget the name of the teleport one). You can only slot one of the four at a time.
-ATOs. Each regular ATO is grouped with the Superior ATO of the same name. Note that the regular ans Superior versions are two different sets, so if you have 3 regular and 3 Superior slotted, you don't get the full set bonuses from either; instead, you get the 2- and 3-piece set bonuses from each set. Some people prefer this, as it allows them to double up on the low-tier bonuses (I'm looking at you, S/L defense for brutes).
Hopefully that wasn't too much all at once. Welcome back to the game. -
Quote:Without knowing anything about your build, I have no idea how relevant any of this info is:I have finally perfected my build for my brute, and while I can drop an AV in just a cpl of minutes, I have decided to start soloing some TF's.
One of my fave TFs is the LgtF. My question is, with Hami, how does someone with no holds tackle Hami? Is there a temp power? Or should I just avoid this particular TF?
-If your primary is Super Strength or Stone Melee, you have a Hold already (or you should! Shame on you if you skipped KO Blow or Seismic Smash!). At least three Epics I can think of have a Hold to stack with that: Block of Ice in Arctic, Fossilize in Stone, and Char in Fire. With enough recharge, you could probably hold a green Mito. If you aren't SS or SM, it's very unlikely that you'll be able to hold a mito.
-The Blue mitos have capped melee and AoE defense. That means that you can't rely on a ranged AoE in your epic against them. My scrapper can solo a Blue with Ring of Fire and Fire Blast, so a brute probably could too. If you're SS or SM, you can take Hurl instead of Ring of Fire, giving you better ranged damage.
-Because of the two things above, Soul Mastery - which is usually considered the best Epic for Brutes - isn't very good for soloing LGTF; Fire is probably your best choice. And even then, it won't be enough unless paired with the right primary.
Now I'm curious about how feasible this is. Anyone know how much Hold you need to stack to take down a Green mito?
EDIT:
I wish there was a mobile version of Mids'. Then again, if there was, I'd probably never do any work while at work ever again.
Pulling some numbers from City of Data, it looks like slotting KO Blow, Seismic Smash or Char with 3 level 50 common Hold and Recharge, and adding about 100% global recharge gets any one of those holds to the point where you can triple stack it. That's enough for Mag 12 off KOB or SS, and Mag 9 off Char, or Mag 21 if you combine one of the melee holds with Char. That slotting will demolish your endurance bar in about 30 seconds before adding toggles or other attacks, but I wouldn't actually slot like that anyways.
Slotting 5 pieces of a good set into a melee hold and Char should give reasonable enhancement to everything but the Hold; the sixth slot can take a level 50 common IO. With reasonable global recharge, you should be able to maintain double stacked holds (Mag 14), with occasional triple stacked spikes.
It seems like it should be possible, unless that Hold Protection is really high. -

Does he have the Inf and patience to get Hami-Os off the market? They can provide a significant improvement over SOs, and work for all players, Free, Premium, or VIP.
-
At the Player Summit panel where the work on the costume set was first started, some of David's concept art included a little green blobby alien - like the brain slugs from Futurama - perched on the head (presumeably a hat), and on the shoulder (like the cat and panda shoulder pets). Sorry, I don't have a link. Those were OLD posts, and would take a fair amount of digging to locate.

Quote:Does this apply to textures* too? I'll double-check when I get home, but it seems to me that there's a couple textures - Blast and Straps, IIRC - that aren't mirrored from one side to the other.Just remember that the body is mirrored so whatever is one one side will be on the other ^_^
*It strikes me that "texture" might not be the right word. I'm referring to the selection under the Tights selection (or other part) which determines how Color 1 and Color 2 are applied to an otherwise plain costume piece.
The reason I ask this is that I've wanted one texture for tights forever, and it seems like it should be as simple as a costume piece can get. However, if the mirroring applies to textures as well, it explains why I can't have it.
As always, please forgive the horrible MS Paint edit.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned this yet: Whoever has the hostage, go to the mission exit, while the other gets out of line of sight and far enough away to lose the escort, then Recall Friend your teammate away from the NPC. Alternately, Assemble the Team will work in some cases, but in others, it picks up the NPC too. I don't know how to tell which NPCs ATT picks up short of trial and error. That new destiny with the League Teleport might work too. Again, I don't know how it handles the NPCs.
Of course, if neither of you have a teleport power, none of the above will work.
Another option is to have one person lead him to a cleared part of the map that's away from the door and then log out. THIS WILL NOT WORK if you are solo; someone has to stay logged in, and on the mission map to make sure the server doesn't reset the instance. When you log back in, you can enter the mission and catch up to your friend.
A similar method that works both solo or teamed is to die (Self Destruction is perfect for this, if you have it). As above, do it in a clear area, away from the mission door. When you get back from the Hospital, he'll be "lost", unless you get close enough to pick him back up. -
As mentioned above, if you use a Catalyst on an ATO, you can't put it on the market or trade it, but you can still email it to yourself (not to others), and you can still use converters on it.
Another thing to keep in mind is that on Beta, there's a new set of ATOs for each AT, presumeably for the next set of Super Boosters. When you use converters on ATOs on Beta, it's possible to switch between the new and old sets. It's worth holding your leftover ATOs until those packs come out, so you can get some new ATOs for a few converters, instead of shelling out more cash. -
Quote:The ones I'm familiar with NEVER function like debit cards - they function like credit cards, which are totally different. When a credit card is processed, it's one of two types of transactions: a purchase or a cash advance (technically, there's a third type - balance transfer - but that isn't done at the POS level). Cash advances can only be done at the bank or ATM level, and typically have a higher interest rate. Stores typically aren't supposed to do cash back on credit cards, because transactions they do are processed as purchases, not cash advances. That is not what I meant. Of course, you can't use them as an ATM card because they are not an ATM card, but how do you think the store you use them at gets the money?
Obviously, the card works like a debit card in certain situations.
I don't see why it would not let you "pay somebody" with the card, so long as they can process it like it needs to be processed, even if that somebody is you and your checking account receiving the money.
Anyway, it was just an idea that I don't think most people have even tried. The other ideas posted by others here work well though.
Prepaid credit cards are designed to automatically decline cash advance transactions, and that's how the card would be processed to "pay you into your chequing account". Doing it some other way to bypass that limitation would be credit fraud.
Again, I'm Canadian. Rules may be different in the US, but they are generally pretty close. -

This is correct. You have to be in the same state as the seller to be charged sales tax, since sales taxes are added at the state (or provincial) level. Because of how NC Soft is set up, last I heard there's two states where they charge sales tax on purchases. I can't remember which ones - but I know neither of them is in Canada. ;P
