I like how you slipped your vehicle request in there again.

A few points about adding vehicles to the game vs existing travel powers.

-A level 1 character has to turn off Sprint while in school zones; otherwise they'll be ticketed for speeding.
-Without Swift, enhancements or set bonuses, Fly (the slowest travel power) is faster that (real world) city speeds.
-Without Swift, enhancements or set bonuses, Super Speed is faster than highway speeds.
-With Swift and enhancements, a Super Speeder can reach the movement cap - which is faster than the average speed on the Autobahn.

Most vehicles would go slower than the travel powers we already have in the game. Do you really want a car, when you can get out and run faster than the car goes?

Ones that should be able to go faster than existing travel powers, like high-end motorcycles or racing cars, or jet planes, wouldn't be able to reach their real-world speeds; the speed cap is there because that's the fastest the server can reliably feed data to the client - go much faster and you'll run past buildings before they have a chance to come into existence.

Then there's the animation issues, but I'm not going into that.

Recently, I rolled a Fire/Willpower Scrapper, and he sped through the content like there was no tomorrow. Now, like Smurphy, I would like to slow down his leveling a bit by level pacting him to a worthy bidder, and make some money at the same time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So you have a mid-level character that you want to pact?

Or you're rolling a new toon of the same type and starting over?

I ask because if he's over level 5, he CANNOT enter into a level pact.

Exactly, a slice of pizza and 2 energy for about $10 = ripoff

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Fix'd.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I work at a gas station. Our enerys drinks are only a few cents more than grocery store prices.

    250 mL Red Bull: $2.66
    473 mL Monster: $3.50
    477 mL Rockstar: $3.77
    710 mL Rockstar: $4.92

That means that, at our prices, and depending on what he was buying, that slice of pizza was somewhere between $4.68 and $0.16

I wouldn't call 2 energy drinks and a slice of pizza a unilateral ripoff.
  4. The GMs aren't allowed to do anything with MA missions. Only dev created content. Someone on the forums had a runin with an (english speaking) GM while on an MA mission and was told that they can't do anything except explain how to quit the mission, and send feedback to the author.

They can't even do the "Pull the NPC out of the wall" trick if it's MA.

Don't ask me why, but apparently, that's the way it is.
  5. Some of us don't care about "Fair Market Value".

I, personally, list all my common recipes and salvage, and uncommon salvage at 1, because I want the sale now for the badge progress. The profit off tying up the slots over the sell now price is negligible.

    But thanks anyways.
  6. No, you shouldn't do that. But one of my scrappers has a second build for soloing Posi and Synapse, and he gets a few extra set bonuses by slotting low level sets in powers he never has access to while using that build.
  7. For Mires, yes, but a Dark Melee brute would feel the SMASH from that....

It will check once per target - that's just the way procs work. The question should be: Is it flagged "Doesn't stack from same caster" or not?

All we know for sure is, we can have blue and pink fire emps... >.>

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm pretty sure I could roll a blue and pink fire/emp right now. :P
  9. And for all those people that hate "Kill all"s and wil never ever EVER EVER EV-ER run them, remember that "Clear out the last room" is a subset of "Defeat all", and shows up on the objectives lists as "Contains Defeat all", just like "Defeat boss" and "Defeat boss and spawn" (or whatever it's called) both show up as "Contains Boss".

Certain attacks in the game diminish based on distance, so it stands to reason that it might be possible to have the aura diminish as the distance from the user increases.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't believe that there are any attacks in game that have diminished damage based on range. It's technically possible (creating nested cones), but I don't believe it's ever actually been done.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Lightning Rod does more damage at the center compared to the edges. At least, that is popular opinion. I haven't verified this myself.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Popular opinion would be wrong. Lightning rod creates a single effect with a specific area and deals the same amount of damage to everything within that range. As it stands, there are no attacks in game that deal varying degrees of damage based on distance from origin.

There have been a number of write-ups using existing mechanics (as demonstrated by how Gauntlet is incorporated) in order to achieve a similar effect, but, as of yet, there are no attacks that actually take advantage of this.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Lightning Rod summons a pet that does three pulses of damage, one of which has a much smaller radius than the other two. It's kind of like a dark/dark defender using Torrent, Tenebrious Tentacles, and Sands of Mu in rapid succession (except that it's PBAoE instead of cone) - The first two will hit everything the Mu hits, but the Mu can't reach everything the first two did.
  11. You can slot two full sets of Ragnarok in a single character, by putting one in each build. But only one would provide bonuses at a time.

If he actually had two full sets in one build (or even two copies of a single enhancement from the set), then something was bugged.
  12. Sorry for the threadjack, but:

    [ QUOTE ]
Note: Most of the set IOs in my build, to get the numbers above, are L33 (so I can exemp down to L30 and I lose nearly nothing in the way of defenses). A couple of them are slightly higher, as I'd lose the set bonuses when I lost the power.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, you wouldn't. You would lose special effects that are triggered by the power's activation (damage procs, Numina unique effect, Performance Shifter proc, etc), but you don't lose set bonuses until you exemplar more than three levels below the level of the IO, regardless of where or when it was slotted.

For example, my blaster with a level 10 Steadfast -KB is NOT knocked around on a Citadel Task Force - even though the IO is in his epic armor toggle. I've tested other set bonuses as well, and you do keep them when the power is unavailable, as long as the IOs are no more than three levels above you.
  13. QR

When Willpower first came out, people noticed this behavior in RttC and asked about it. Castle's answer basically amounted to: When an auto power or toggle counts a number of targets to provide a buff, it can either stack for a fraction of a second, or completely fall off for a fraction of a second.

I think they made the right choice.
  14. I try to keep my PvE out of your PvP, you keep your PvP out of my PvE.

That said, Castle said he wanted minigames, like "Capture the Flag" added to the arena. Change "Flag" to "Loot" and that sounds like what you're asking for.

Plus, it would be a better game if it were designed for PvP from day 1, than just PvP tacked onto a PvE mission.

I don't know, I question how horrible this "bug" is when nowadays we have rikti drones exploding ten times and creating a metric crapton of debris all over the landscape, and no one is doing anything about that...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nothing, except the patch on Test that fixed it, that's probably going live on Tuesday so we don't suffer through Rikti Explosion Weekend instead of Rikti Invasion weekend.
  17. There's lots of tricks that let you surpass the cap.

You can hand it to alts.
You can place bids on items that don't exist (There's a lot of 1 bil bids on level 53 taunt and sleep sets, last I checked)
You can place stacks of low bids on things that you probably won't buy that low, and profit from if you do (someone recently posted that he used a stack of 55 mil bids on LotG +recharge to store a half billion - and ended up way ahead)

Or you could buy stuff that you need, or will need in the future (purples, PVP IOs, Uniques, etc) and stash them in the base.

Seriously, there's no need to have over 2 billion Inf. Use it, or give it to someone who needs it.

If you don't like it sitting there, bid 2 billion on a Luck Charm, then vendor it. :P

Edit: I hadn't looked at the picture, and assumed it was just a "I hit 2 bil" picture. I see now that you are storing inf. My other point still stands though: Spend it. It doesn't do you any good just sitting there.

    Few questions

A continuation off the assumption in my previous post:

Especially at low levels, Power Thrust is your best friend, and you're forced to take it if you are Energy Manipulation. Any enemy you hit with it is affected by a very strong knockback. In most cases, enemies' melee attacks are far stronger than their ranged ones. By using Power Thrust on your enemies, you can prevent them from using those hard-hitting attacks. Your Energy Blasts have the same effect, but it's weaker, and not guaranteed with each hit.

If I'm wrong about your powers, you still probably have something that keeps enemies away from you. This is key, since low level blasters have no passive defenses (defense and resistance) and instead rely on active defense (Using secondary effects like holds, immobilizes, or knockback to prevent incoming attacks).

Finally, be careful how many enemies you aggro (draw the ttention of). Asa blaster, it's easy to aggro multiple groups at once. It's much harder to survive large groups though. Practice pulling - Shooting a single enemy and then backing up or rounding a corner to break line of sight. This caues a single enemy or small group to come to you rather than an entire large group. This will serve you well, even at level 50, though it will be needed far less often at that level.

    Few questions

So, You're an energy blast/energy manipulation blaster with a magic origin?

(Note: Origin actually has very little effect on the game.)

i have been trying missions and it is SO HARD! i though this game was for little kids lol! should i just kill random mobs in atlas city to level up?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It'll get easier as you get used to it.

Each mission is offered to you at your level. That means enemies will spawn at the level you were when you accepted the mission, or one level higher, so you should be able to take on what's sent at you. At low levels, Street Sweeping (defeating random enemies on the streets) is a viable tactic, though boring for some.

Some ATs (Archetypes) have an easier time soloing than others. What are you playing? Please include your primary and secondary powersets, we can make some suggestions how to make things easier for you.

And finally, don't be afraid to try new ATs and powers! You have 12 slots on each server, so you can make a total of 132 characters, and even more if you choose to purchase extra slots! This game encourages Alt-ing (playing multiple characters, as opposed to one "main"), so feel free to try everything.

    Few questions

Except hunt missions (Defeat 10 Hellions, etc), every mission has a waypoint, if you're in the same zone as the mission.

When you select the mission off your list, there will be a zone name under the mission description. At you level it should be Atlas Park, Galaxy City, Kings Row, The Hollows or Perez Park.

If it's one of the first three, take the train (Marked on your map as a circled T) to the right zone. For the Hollows, take the train to Atlas (if you aren't there) and look for a red dot on your map on the east wall. For Perez Park (you shouldn't be being sent there, since it's minimum level is 7, but you may need it soon) look for a red dot on the west side of the Atlas map, or on the east side of the Galaxy map.

If you don't know how to open your map, press M. To close it, click the tiny red X in its corner, or press M again. Many people like to keep the map open all the time, but it gets in the way. To deal with that, click the little blue dot in the corner (it will turn black), and you can move it wherever you want by dragging the big blue bar, which can be at the top or bottom of the window (it moves itself so it's "out of the way").

Rereading your post, I see that you mention having a hard time finding mission objectives, so I might have misunderstood your question. There's one low level mission where you have to click an object (we call them "glowies", because they glow) that likes to hide behind crates and stuff. Turn your volume up - they make a distinct humming noise when you get close, and it gets louder as you get closer.

    And welcome to the game!

lol I met a newby 2 nights ago, had no vet badges .. him n his friend, they were leading a team of lvl 8-12s in kr n decided to go to sky for scanner missions, i didnt want to be the go here do this type so i followed along i had my lvl 10 blaster..

When in sky they spoke about seeing a detective for a scanner, mind you he had scanner in kr lol, so i sent a tell explaining nicely that once u have a scanner there is no need to see the det. in evry zone untill its bank time n he asks to see u... BTW he was a lvl 12 tank

    [/ QUOTE ]
I was under the impression you did need to see the detective once to "get the frequencies" for the zone. Is that incorrect?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You only need to talk to ONE detective ever, but what they say indicates that you need to talk to one in each zone. Damn liars.

    [/ QUOTE ]

think you guys misunderstood what i wrote..

The new guy was under the impression he had to see every det in evry zone, he already had the scanner from kr and then went to see the det in sky..

hope this clears it up lol no one lied, it just newby misunderstanding and being cocky n rude to someone tryin to help lol

    [/ QUOTE ]

I never said that you lied. I said that the detectives did. When you first get your radio, the detective says something about giving you the frequencies for this zone. Brokers have a similar comment. And every time you go to a zone for the first time, the detective/broker for that zone gets highlighted, and if you go talk to him, he says something about giving you the frequencies for this zone, implying that you can't use the scanner until you've talked to him.

I understood exactly what you were talkingabout. Because if you had said "blaster" instead of "tank" that newbie could have been me. The detectives do imply that you need to talk to them all. And they are damn liars.

  24. You are correct. But as you said, it's unenhancable, which means it still works the way I described - it's just how it gets there that's different.
  25. Really? I must have misread the few I got. Ignore me then.
