  1. I've never levelled a widow high enough to even get the forced respec before, so I have no idea if this planned build is reasonable or not. My intention was to get a better-than-softcapped build, enough recharge to double stack Follow Up (The Widow version does stack with itself, right? Mids' doesn't give it the slider that the Claws version gets), and as much +Damage as possible, while keeping the build from getting insanely expensive. I should be able to purchase all the LotG +Recharges and the Uniques in Health using merits by the time I hit 50, and the rest should be fairly affordable; if not now, then definitely when the markets merge.

Did I miss anything vital? Any tweaks needed? Thanks in advance for any advice.

  2. If you're specifying 45-50 because you want to keep your powers, remember that you will have all your powers at 45 in the 40-45 range. You will lose any set bonuses that come from non-Purles IOs over level 47, but you will still have all the powers.

OK, let me rephrase that: The most useful is Pain Tolerance. Rikti monkey is indeed awesome.

Stop complaining. I would kill to get a copy of Secondary Mutation that gave nothing but Pain Tolerance. I'm sure someone will disagree, but I consider that the best mutation by far.

It really isn't the end of the world, and those -kb IOs are very easy to get if you level from 1-15 in AE and roll bronzes. Even if you don't they're not expensive.
But I bet you had a hell of a time getting those -kb IOs in the pre-IO era that Blue mentioned. And while you may not find getting knocked back a big deal, others do. I myself am a member of both camps - I don't care if my ranged characters get KBed, but it'll be a cold day in hell before I let my melee toons get thrown around like that.
  6. No.

Because the system used with the brokers didn't work with the flashback system.

And to answer your next question, yes they want to add them. No, they haven't said if or when it will happen.

And I've seen a troller solo all three Paladins in the park together (without separating them). Ill/Storm, I think it was.
  8. If brutes aren't the redside winner, then they're tied for first. I often take a new brute for a stroll through the snake patch north of Fort Darwin, get to 4, Train up so that I've got a couple powers from both primary and secondary (and Ninja Run), and walk to the Port Oakes ferry, killing everything in my path. It usually takes me a half hour or so, and I get there around level 7 or 8. If I were to concentrate on levelling, I could probably get to level 10 in about the same time. Under an hour for sure.

I've done basically the same thing with Scrappers, Stalkers and Blasters, and I suspect most Tankers, Corruptors, Dominators and Masterminds could do it as well. Controllers and Defenders, and the Epic Archtypes should be able to do it too, but might need a player who's more comfortable with those ATs than I am.

    Ninja Run?

    Maybe more..
Ninja Run is flagged as an exclusive toggle in both the Run and Jump groups. Anything that detoggles Super Speed and/or Super Jump also detoggles Ninja Run. This includes Rooted and Granite. Which sucks, because I would probably play Stone Armor again if I could be in that pose in Granite form. It also gets detoggled and greyed out whenever you shapeshift into a form that doesn't allow human form powers (Nova, Dwarf and Rikti Monkey).

    Quote:
Flight, the Jump Pack and the various Jetpack powers do not detoggle Ninja Run either.
Flight powers that "drift" when you stop moving (like Flight) lose the drift, and stop on a dime if Ninja Run (or any other power that gives mid-jump movement control, like Combat Jumping or Super Jump) is turned on at the same time.
  10. All of my characters use Ninja Run from level 4 until I take a travel power, which is often much later than 14 now, and is often complely skippable, since I have the Jump Pack from GvE and I always have a Raptor Pack, so it's fairly easy to get anywhere I need to.

I use the Fortune buff regularly when I'm teamed, and I'll be using the Secondary Mutation pretty much whenever it's up. Any buff is useful, even if it doesn't do much, and the chance to turn into a monkey only bothers me in one way: It's so low, that I've yet to see it happen to myself, or anyone else.

The Pocket D and Mission transporters are nifty, and I use them semifregularly, but I don't think I'd really miss them if I lost them. And Self Destructon? I remove it from my bar as soon as I create a new character. I can't remember the last time I used it. Oh, wait - I used it a couple months ago, right before deleting a character, in front of the noobie I had just dumped 25 million on. The "Holy crap what was that?" just before my logout timer ended was GREAT.

For costume parts, The helmet and mask parts from the Cyborg and Ninja packs, the gloves from the Cyborg pack, the Baron boots and jacket, the robes from the Ninja pack and random parts from the Valkyrie pack get the most use from me. I'd use the Wedding Pack more often, but I don't make female characters often, and I like the female parts of that pack better than the male ones. Same for the Witch parts from the Arcane pack. I'll probably use stuff from the mutant pack a fair amount too, I used to use Bio-Organic on a few characters; I'll probably replace at least some with the new skins.

Dual Blades is not, from what I've heard, the best choice for PVP. And I'm not sure I'd recommend it with Fiery Aura; the long animations will prevent you from hitting Healing Flames when you need it, and that could kill you.

my main focus will be pvp, so i have a few questions regarding grant invisibility and its usefulness in a pvp environment.
Most forms of stealth suppress when you attack, or get hit. This one is no exception. Also, most serious PVPers get as much +Perception as they can, so they can see stalkers. GI gives far less stealth, so it won't even help in PVP.

    Quote:
first off, the tooltip is a bit confusing. it states you can grant it to "a targeted teammate," doesn't mention if it is usable on the caster. is it possible to put grant invisibility on yourself?
You can't target yourself. That means that a targeted ally buff can't be used on self.

    Quote:
secondly, if it is castable on yourself, how effective is it in pvp? in other games being kited is a huge problem for melee classes. this talent seems like it would be incredibly useful for any melee class looking to pvp.
    It's not.

PVP in this game is a lot different from other games. It's also a lot different from the PVE game. My suggestion is to find someone else and go hang out in the Arena for a couple hours so you can get the feel for PVP.
  12. So, you're saying that you'd like to do a Doctor Quaterfield Task Force on a character that uses Super Speed, with the TF set to "No Temp Powers", meaning that you don't get to use a Jet Pack?

The term "raid healer" is pretty close to meaningless here. We only have two raids (for now. Rumor mill suggests that Going Rogue has new endgame content which may include raids) - The Hamidon Raid, and the Rikti Raid.

I can't say much about the Hami Raid, since I've never done one, but a healer there would be part of a team focused on a specific task, and would watch their team only. This is probably closest to what you're used to.

On the Rikti Raid, you take (up to) 50 people to the Rikti War Zone, break the pylons that maintain the shield over the downed mothership, then hop on top of it and kill hundreds of invading alien scum, plant bombs, and even fight a giant alien general.

Instead of raiding, like in WoW, we have Task Forces and Strike Forces. These are available at most levels, and can be done even if you're "too high level", thanks to the Sidekicking System. TFs are done by a single team, usually in 2-3 hours, though there are quicker and slower ones. In most cases, these are like WoW's instances, though they send you to several locations, rather than remaining centralized.

i picked corrupter (dark blast/dark maisma). it has everything i love about caster classes. high damage output, some healing, and immobilizers. sounds like a lot of fun. i love playing the 'bad guy' so even the names are awesome for what i'm looking for.
A good choice. Dark/Dark is quite good, both as a corruptor and as a defender. If you decide to head over to the hero side, I'd recommend trying an Illusion/Radiation controller. Good damage and utility powers, a heal, a great team buff, and some of the best debuffs in the game make this set shine just off common enhancements. With sets added, I've seen some become godly, doing crazy things like soloing Giant Monsters.

Fulmens (@Boltcutter in-game) has run a similar service in the past. I suggest sending him a message to see if he still does before shipping him the Inf. I can vouch for him - he's honest in all trades he's done.

Or you can wait until mid-August and send it to yourself.

There are fewer people redside, so there's fewer things generated. Since there's less stuff generated, there's less on the market. Since there's less on the market, many people are more likely to hoard their good stuff, since they don't know if they can get it back later, resulting in less going onto the market. See where this is going? I don't think that this chang will break the hoarding mentality, since it happens on both sides. But it might at least encourage more movement of assets, and that would be a good thing.

People on trials can use AE, but they can't use the consoles, meaning that someone else has to start the team, select the arc, etc for them. The trial would still earn tickets, but I don't know if the other parts of AE would talk to them, or tell them to go away.
  17. You have to be level 10+ (or is it 7+, because you can get items 3 levels higher than yourself) to use the Ticket and Merit vendors. Gain a couple levels, and they'll talk to you.

EDIT: It doesn't matter if you have Architect Edition. However, if you're on a trial, you may be restricted from rolling tickets - I'm not sure.
  18. Rikti Drones, and a couple other critter types, ignore your Stealth value, going on their perception and range to you only. The only way to stealth past them is to hit them with a -perception power, like Smoke Bomb.
  19. And they changed it back ages ago. There've been a few threads in this section in the last couple months about it.

EDIT: This is one of those threads.
  20. I might be able to help you with that. I'll check.

Nope. No spare LotG's redside. Sorry.
  21. Scorpio_ is correct.

If you hit the target cap (10 targets), it's a 65% chance of at least one firing. If it does trigger, your recharge should be high enough that you can stomp again at least once, possibly twice, before it wears off. This means that you should be able to keep it on you most of the time, as long as the enemies keep coming, and you have endurance left.

One thing I've noticed about the new market interface: If you have 10 stacks of bids and/or sales, and some of the items in each stack buy/sell, but not the others, you now have 20 slots used! If this takes you over the max number of slots that you are allowed, it lists you at the max, and you must claim enough items or inf to clear the extra slots before you can list new items or bids.

Under the old system, partially filled bids or sales remained part of the original stack. I liked that way better.
  25. If you have a friend in North America, and they agree, you can use them as the shipping address, and have them either email you the code, or ship you the box, depending on your preference.
