"Support", or "buffer". Heals are a panic button. Buffs and debuffs make heals useless.

Not sure, but I doubt it. You could subscribe to the thread, and then when you click the "USER CP" button at the top of the page, you'll see all your subscribed threads with new activity. That's really the best you can do (that I know of).

You don't know what a "soft cap" is, do you?

The term "Soft Cap" is only used in this game in one place: Defense. When you reach the soft cap on defense, you can push your defense above that point, but it does you no good, because the limits on the formulae used make it so that anything above the soft cap does no good.

What you are asking for is that the cap be removed and that diminishing returns be applied to anything that goes above the 95% limit.

Think about that for a second. You just asked for the same diminishing returns mechanic that was added to PVP that pissed everyone off. You just asked for the same diminishing returns mechanic that was used in Enhancement Diversification. Are you sure this is a road that you want to walk down?

True, you're asking for diminishing returns that only kick in at the current cap, and that they be implemented in a way that extends the cap. But the people who hate diminishing returns as a game mechanic aren't going to care about that. They're just going to jump down your throat because they see you as advocating their most hated of mechanics, and that if it was implemented, it would open the door for the mechanic to be used everywhere else.

Personally, I think this request is pointless - 5% is not that often, we have the streak breaker to make sure that it doesn't completely screw us over, and if it were removed, the 5% guaranteed hit chance would have to be removed for balance reasons, making some enemies unhittable by certain characters.

I always solo, except when I want to do a TF. It really doesn't happen that often. As far as the "missed a box" thing goes, it's usually good for a laugh, and totally not worth the rage you're exhibiting. Games are meant for fun. If you're not having fun, it may be time for you to step back and figure out what you're doing wrong.
  7. Power rings, suits of armor, etc are not power sets. They're costume pieces and character concepts/origins. We have Iron Man style power armor in the game, many different variations. The game graphics aren't really detailed enough to show something as tiny as a ring, but how hard is it to add "His powers come from his ring!" into your character's bio? (Please be more creative than that)

As far as optic blasts, how would you get a full nine-power set out of "I shoot lasers out of my eyes"? It would be very boring, as most powers would be "I look at the guy and shoot lasers out of my eyes!" That's why it's a single power in a few different power sets, instead of a set of its own.

To my knowledge, no powerset has been shelved for copyright or trademark issues. If it were to happen, I think Claws would have to be the first to go, along with at least 10-20 other sets we already have.

the odd thing is the time difference. The Ritki battled their Battalion 100 years back. Why the delay here? One view, I suppose, is that the Oroboros folks managed to manipulate time enough to push back the kickoff by 100 years so far.
Prior to the First Rikti War, CoH Earth was basically on par (technilogically) with the real world. Most of the "super scientists" kept to themselves and didn't share their breakthroughs. Most of the really high-tech stuff we see in the game is adapted from salvaged Rikti technology. In other words, the Rikti were way more advanced than us, way earlier.

Possibly, the Rikti did something that attracted the attention of the Battalion, and provoked their invasion. Something that we weren't capable until a few years ago, when we started playing with Rikti tech.

1: Just an "oops" on the part of the Mids folks
2: Not really a taunt, but is instead just a way of showing the "look at me, I just whacked you" effect that you can get when you're playing without taunting toons.
I'm pretty sure that it's a limitation of Mids'. Each powerset that's available to multiple AT's (like Dark Melee, for example, which 4 ATs can take) is a separate entry in the database. I can't open Mids' at the moment, but I'm pretty sure that there's only one database entry for each pool power. Since the powers use damage/buff/whatever scalars, most effects can be automatically adjusted for AT modifiers. But if the effect is purely AT dependent; Mids' doesn't know how to add or subtract it for other ATs. Therefore, on a very few powers, there is extraneous data that only applies to a couple ATs.

This. There is absolutely nothing you can do to correct these people's behavior, and if you call them out on it, publicly or via /tells, and they later get genericed, it's quite possible that you'll be remembered and singled out for some kind of griefing.

Your only responsibility is to /petition these people. Do it anonymously and let the GMs deal with it. After all, that's what they get paid to do.

Regen taking Heal Self just doesn't have the same impact.
I just go buy a Med Kit recipe (assuming I haven't had one drop). You don't need a heal often enough to waste that many power picks and slots on.
  16. Twisted Reflections from Keith Nance

Available from levels 20 to 30. If you outlevel it, it's located in the Flashback list near the middle of the 25-29 list.

I haven't seen the Pocket D pop up in so long, I forgot it even existed. Doesn't it have a check box in the bottom that stops it from showing up again? And a setting in Options "Hide Cooperative zone dialog" or something like that? If you set that appropriately, and save your options to default, it'll load for each new character, and never show up again.
  18. This is where players as other players questions. The devs do not frequently read this section, or if they do, they don't respond othen.

Try posting in Jay's Costume Request Thread, or the Suggestions forum. Though if you choose the latter, you'll likely be sent to Jay's thread anyways.

As far as players answering your question, try this:
Choose "Tucked in" for the Lower Body category, set your pants to Cargo, choose Flat for boots, and Bare or Kung Fu for their texture.

Or roll a Female toon, they have a few shorts options.

    I appreciate your help!
You cannot use US and EU codes on the same account. If the account was created with a US code, you can only use US codes, not EU. The same is true in reverse.

A EU code can be used in the US - the region refers to where the servers you connect to are, not where you are. Of course, if you already have a US account, you can't use the EU code to upgrade, as I mentioned above; instead, it would create a second account (if it can create an account) or fail (if it's an add-on code, like a booster).

Overall I agree that we should mark out LFG button appropriately. I keep mine marked not looking. A play session does not go by when I do not receive at least one tell or blind invite from someone who is either rude or can't read. Now, I do not go on a rant as much as I used to, but if the same person hits me up multiple times, or I keep getting spammed, I switch to decline all invites.

The tool does work, but people need to learn how to use it.
Even worse, some can read, but refuse to believe what they read. I solo the vast majority of the time. I don't really enjoy PUGs, so I tend to keep my flag at the default and use Coalitions, friends and Global channels to form teams.

Quite a while back, I was working on a scrapper, solo in PI. Someone sent me a tell asking if I wanted to team. I politely decline and hop into my mission. I finish, start heading for whatever was next. En route, I get another tell from the same person. I politely decline again.

Before I can get to the next mission, I get another tell from the person, to which I respond "Look, I'm soloing today. No matter how many times you ask, I'm not interested in teaming." Each of these interactions was followed by a polite acknowledgement from him.

I come out of my mission when it finishes, and there's an invite screen up before I even finish zoning. I hit decline, and head to the next mission. Another winow pops up. I declin, and go to switch to "Decline all", and before I can, another pops up. I leave it there for a moment, change to Decline all, and set my search field to "No (name), I will not team with you."

After an hour of being harassed in Broadcast about "OK, I get it, you can remove the comment", I finally do.

Next time I zone out of my mission (still set to Decline all), I get a tell (guess who!) telling me to change my flag so they can invite me. I put him on ignore (before character and global ignore were merged, so it was just the one toon). I have no idea who it was, or if they're still on ignore.

It'd be cool, tough. But maybe a bit restrictive, especially if you're trying to use it under a low ceiling.
It can be done, if one specific check can be made.

We know that there's a check to see if you're close to the ground; it's used by several powers. If that flag can be used to see if you're not near the ground, use it on this hypothetical power. Then just make the power give a few seconds of high mag, unresistable -fly and -jump, and delay the damage so that it happens close to when you land. If it's possible, the damage should probably be dealt by a summoned entity like a Burn patch, which summons on the ground below you, just in case you're still technically airborne when it fires.

It probably wouldn't play nice if fired from extreme heights though.
  22. Boosters are totally different. They are applied via a serial code, like boxed sets are. Slots are assigned to individual servers, not the account as a whole.

That's an awesome idea! Then I can just edit a text file in my CoH directory and have 36 slots open on every server, and it won't cost me anything!

More seriously, though: I assume you mean Serverside. In that case, they already are. The store server, market server,AE server, the three server farms that hold the game "servers" are all part of "serverside".

Would you rather everything ran on one server, so that if they need to take th store down, then they had to take everything down? I think that one day of nobody getting to play the game at all would result in far more irate customers than one day of a few people being unable to roll a new character.
  24. Or... Maybe your account was active from Aug 15 to Nov 15 last year, earning you the Loyalty badge (and thus a Beta invite), but you just didn't get the email.

I have checked my email settings dozens of times, I am sure they're all correct, and yet I never get any email from NCSoft.

Except that one time I /petitioned because of a stuck enemy. I got him unstuck, completed the mission, and went to the website to cancel the support ticket. Next day I had a "How was our customer service?" survey waiting for me.
  25. Disclaimer: This may not work, or may not even do anything at all.

The beta download creates a shortcut to the installer that includes the switch -beta

Try doing the same thing you would do to create a test server install (however you do it on a Mac), but try replacing the word "test" in the shortcut with "beta".
