Even though I crashed within the first minute of starting, I was able to get back on and had a blast! I see you caught a picture of me in my Conan O'Brien suit (6th from the right). lol. I wish the Stealth proc would have worn off. Can't see him real well.

Quote:*shrugs*Ah, yes, how could I forget Romans and Vahzilok! Romans, who I most certainly never farm on the wall, all appearances to the contrary; whose vulnerability to endurance drain, which switches off their mez resist toggles, I couldn't possibly exploit. And Vahzilok, which of course /EA and /Inv have typed toxic defense against.
You're absolutely right, sir. In this here modern game we have, /Elec needs this buff just to compete. I am totally serious here! Stop laughing!
ITF's have been brutal to my brute. I'm probably not the best player in this game, so it could be all on my build creating skills or active defenses. I jump into a mob, I sap their energy, but there is usually too many of them and even their basic attacks cut me down before I have a chance to completely take their end and destroy their mez protection. And, God forbid I get a decent heal to protect myself. Aide Self doesn't exactly work when you have a constant stream of damage come'n your way.
In anycase, I'm more concerned for early level development for Elec. It's been a long time since I first leveled up my ElA brute, but I remember having a significantly more difficult time than other brutes. I often had to yield the alpha position on teams to another brute or even an MM simply because I wasn't able to handle it. I remember the mid 30's being the toughest... and considering what level the heal will be hitting (36, I think?) it seems about right.
In any case, I don't know why people are actually arguing against this change. It only makes the set better and I can hardly imagine it making the set any stronger than what WP already is. -
Quote:I fixed that for ya.Oh, certainly not! Electric Armor is exactly like having nothing at all. This buff is the least that could be done for it. Why, it's weak as a kitten! I can't tell you how many times I've cast envious glances at my friends' /EA and /Inv brutes and chewed my nails in frustration as they waltzed through Romans, Vahzilok, and other various other enemies that don't only do Energy damage without as much as a scratch. End my suffering, devs! Do not leave me trammeled into the dust!
(Was that too much? I never know...) -
Quote:Wow, I didn't even see this until now. Sorry, I got the term PBAoE confused for just AoE. No need to explain the different types (as i already know them). I just got mixed up.No. PBAoE = Point Blank AoE. There are a few PBAoEs that require targets. Thunder Strike is one. Most don't.
Volcanic Gasses is not a PBAoE, it is a drop, an object you summon and place on the battlefield. Footstomp, Lightning Field, Hand Clap, these are PBAoEs.
Fireball is a Ranged or Targetted AoE. There is no such term as a Targetted PBAoE, although Thunder Strike does kind of fit that description. -
It really feels like Electric Armor should get Regen above all other types of mitigation. If the devs don't feel comfortable giving ElA more Resists, then give it Regen. Mostly because it prevents the devs from giving Brutes another Heal ability, allows them to improve the set without having to create another power outright, and (more importantly) seems to go with the theme of the set. Especially if that regen is put in Grounded. Or, hell, change Conserve Power into a +regen. Brutes don't get Regen as a set, and a clickie +Regen would be an absolutely unique solution for the archetype. Granted... not so much for Scrappers.... but still. I think it's a solution that warrants investigation.

Quick Reply.
Just adding in my 2 cents.
While I can understand the OP's curiosity of how well he/she could do against Rommie and his furrie trio, it sounds like the Tank was new to this game (the first sign was that he/she was a Stone Tank without TP [I assume he/she didn't have TP as you said he/she moved slowly]. Second sign was that he/she went after some random minions instead of drawing the attention of the AVs. This shows he/she probably hadn't dealt with AVs before and didn't know their threat level/power). In all fairness, he/she probably thought A. The OP actually could take down the AVs since he/she handled everything else in stride; And B. Thought kicking was an easier and faster method of saying 'I wanted to tank Rommie' than taking the time to type it out while in the middle of battle.
In any case, both parties acted understandably and instead of posting your thoughts here.... it probably would have been better to send a tell later to talk it out. -
Quote:Well, to be fair.... things like Fireball do need targets. Technically they are PBAoEs, but also need targets. Also known as Targeted PBAoEs.Doesn't make sense.
PBAoEs DON'T need targets.
When you are Blinded you can use PBAoEs to attack foes you can't see.
You are right about some PBAoEs, though. I was in RV the other day with my Earth controller. I had killed a spider in the area earlier and noticed one of the broken parts moved. I dropped Volcanic Gasses and literally smoked a Stalker out of hiding. No targeting needed. -
I'm told the best way to toughen up Elec Armor is to get as much IO defense bonuses as possible. It's also good to get Tough and Weave... as well as Aide Self. But until then... it'll be a very grindy experience.
*raises a glass of rootbeer* Here's hoping they try to make Elec Armor more survivable for i16. -

What will probably happen is Tankers and Scrappers will get a self heal in place of Conserve Power. Villians will still be stuck with Conserve Power.... like licking a poopsickle.

You're probably right. It's no secret that the Devs have always hated Villains.
/e hopes to get a rise out a dev who is reading this thread but being silent. -
The amount of defense added would have to be fairly insignificant until it hits very low on the Health bar. If done wrong... I could see Elec becoming a crazy monster that's probably worse than WP.
"What? My health is going down? Oh, look at that!"
*wiff* *wiff-wiff*
"And my health is back up. Oh, it's going back down again."
*wiff wiff wiff-wiff-wiff wiff*
"And we're back. AV time." -
They really need to make a 'Master of ITF' badge. People certainly play it enough to warrant some kind of extra challenge for them. Ya know... make things interesting....

I just had idea. I think a fix to ElA can be provided in the form of an adjustment to Power Surge. From what I understand, the idea behind Brutes is that they have more difficulty in the early stages of leveling, but can eventually reach Tank-levels of protection later on.
So, I submit that Power Surge be changed into a Toggle, like Granite. It might not be as survivable as Granite, but it doesn't have to be. It's a more offensive form. I think that's an even trad-off for not getting a damage and movement penalty, like Granite gets. However, it WILL be like Granite in that it won't allow some/most of the other armors to be active along with it. The devs can decide if they want the Psionics hole or not by choosing if that armor can be active with Power Surge. Also, The endurance drain can be large than normal for Power Surge, if it looks like Power Surge will be too powerful. And to keep it similar, thematically, the 'crash' can happen when the power is de-toggled. This would still provide a penalty, but allow the player to control when and where it happens, resulting in a natural way to prevent your death (rather than having to rely on other players, inspirations or demonic aura to recover).
BTW: This is an aside to the idea of getting rid of CP. I think it's still a good idea to replace CP with another power. The Power Surge change was just another thought I had.
What do you think? -

As a pretty experience player, and I played my fair share of /Electrical Armor when I was soloing Arch Villains with my Brute with SS/Elec and EM/Elec when I made them FOTM...

'The AV Soloed Me'

Lol! That was brilliant. Seriously, well done.
Who was that guy, anyway? -
Miyabi speaks the truth. I was in an AE mission with some friends and the only brute we had was an Elec/Elec brute. She was 48 and we were facing pretty large groups of 50s. Poor girl had to activate Power Surge pretty regularly or she would pretty much die at every group we encountered. We had a single healer and a lot of MMs... and it still wasn't enough to keep her alive. IMO, Power Surge should only be a power for fighting AV and EB level threats..... but these groups were only LTs and under. The survivability of ElA NEEDS to be put into question. You can't have a set that's only good once it gets great IOs and a few key powers from other power pools. That's just not right.
-
I'm having trouble with my Necro Macros as well. I have petsayall sit and petsayall backflip. Everytime I use it, the graveknights and lich follow.... but my zombies just stand there and do nothing.
-
Yeah, I suppose the lag would be much worse if they didn't perform maintenance.
-
How annoying. I never get to play this game on week day mornings. Now that I can... I get denied anyway. >_>
-
I don't understand... I didn't see any thread or notification that said there was server maintenance. Is this a regular Monday morning ritual that I didn't know about?
-
I just tried logging on to the game and it won't let me log on at all. I get denied at the door.
-
IIRC, CP was originally in Mu Mastery... but they realized this would allow CP to be available twice on some builds and took it out.... Never did replace it with another power, either.
I seriously hope they don't do the same for Heroes. FIX ELEC ARMOR PLEASE. -

Well my ELA brute usually can tank, but I consider that's due to the fact she's Stone Melee. Fault is so full of win I started tanking on my early 20s. And the KD from the mallets too.
But I suspect she'd get wrecked on an ITF where the mobs have kb protection (haven't played her in like forever, she's 38).
[/ QUOTE ]
You are absolutely correct. I have Stone Melee on my Elec Armor brute as well. While he does hold his own with regular mobs (and laughs at rikti) he gets destroyed in ITF because of the KB/KD protection they have. Otherwise, it's usually the ranged damage that gets me. While every enemy in melee range is either end-less or on their butts, my 15% ranged defense is doing little to prevent me from getting pegged to death from a distance. -
Even in PvE, Elec Armor can only do so much. I didn't go with the traditional strategy of doing +def on all my IO bonuses... but I have some with some +regen thrown in. Even with the bonuses, it's difficult to Alpha for a team in most situations.
-
It's about time they started embracing farming instead of trying to stop it. Give it a specific place in the game and everyone is happy.
Oh yeah and 'Hooray claws for brutes!'. =) -
I really hope the Devs think to make some changes when they see that Heroes will be able to get 2 CPs with Elec Armor....
