I'll be leaving the game soon (for personal and financial reasons). My subscription ends on the first of January. I'm not sure how long it will be before I get to playing regularly again, so I figured I'd make one last Mission arc and post it up.
Arc Number: 476588
Creator: Rock Crag
Story: An ambitious former Arachnos Soldier attempts to gain power by stealing a specific device. It is your job to stop him.
It's probably not very good, but I wanted to make a story about one of my characters and I figured this was a good time to do it. Unfortunately, we are not yet allowed to make Soldier of Arachnos type custom enemies, so I had to take a few liberties. Hopefully if that's changed in the future, I'll be able to come back and make some of the needed changes to make it more interesting.
Anyway, hope you enjoy it. =) -
Quote:You sound a lot like my brother and several other people I've talked with. As with all over-hyped movies... people go in to the movie expecting for their minds to be blown away... and when it wasn't... they blame the movie for not going far enough.Just saw it yesterday. It wasn't bad. Good visuals and a workable if not impressive story. As mentioned above, I was a little disappointed that some of the action didn't ramp up any more than it did. Everything was used well, but none of it really pushed any envelopes.
Also like others, I felt a little gipped as far as Tron's role in the film. Even having heard others talk about it before hand, I still felt like there should have been more of a payoff with him. I suppose they were saving it for the sequel maybe.
The only thing that failed was the marketing department.
Although, I have to admit, the story definitely was lacking in complexity. It was pretty straight forward and had a few elements that it could have expanded upon, but everything else was adequate, IMHO. This movie did most of what it was meant to do: Introduce you to the new Tron world. Although... I would have liked to have seen more from the resistance programs. You really only get a small implication that there is an underground resistance against the totalitarian ruling of Clue (as shown in the night club scene when the damaged programs stood against the guards).
However, something tells me they did a wise thing in keeping the story relatively simple. Look at Chronicles of Riddick. It came after Pitch Black, a simple movie... and introduce a *lot* of new elements which, IMO, turned a lot of people off. It's a great movie and introduced a rich and interesting story but overwhelmed the audience with too much new information... so much to the point where immersion was lost. -
If it were me, I'd go with 1 2 and 6.
Being able to hit things is pretty important... and the difference is very noticeable when you do the Alpha Slot TFs like Apex and Tin Man. I died on an Apex run and went back into the mission. I attacked an enemy 5 times and all missed. Then I remembered to put Tactics back on and I was getting much better results. I was shocked at the difference it made.
And Wolf Spider Armor... that's my personal preference. I love being able to stack it with Crab Armor. If anything, you can just use it to drop that +3 defense bonus IO. -
I saw it in IMAX in 3D. I wasn't impressed with either, but I thought the movie was great... so I suppose that's all that matters.

Quote:This movie has visual style... where Bays movies are all just dull by comparison.Honestly, and I'm not a student of film or anything--but I don't see the difference between what Bay does and this movie.
As an artist, I full support anyone who seeks to make a movie that has a different visual flair than the others. I mean, come on... what movies can you compare it to other than 300 and Watchmen?
As for the term 'mindless explosion'.... come on. Can you really think of ANY explosion that had a lot of thought put into it? It's a friggen action movie, not Mythbusters.
Besides, from what I can tell... all the action happens inside their imagined world. Are you telling me a young girl who's been held captive for a significant period of time is going to imagine a scenario where all the explosions have purpose other than to just 'blow stuff up'? This chick is angry and frustrated. She wants to see stuff die in a fireball from hell! -
Quote:Actually, the form change customization is most likely only a coding issue, not graphics.
It's easy enough to change which graphical file is referenced in code to completely change the graphic players see, but the problem occurs when the code itself doesn't allow that very easily if at all.
They can change our costumes very easily, powers are now easily altered as long as there are options and eventually there will likely be an easy way to customize form powers.
It's just going to take time thinking of a way to do it either with the existing code or by redoing the necessary code.
It doesn't actually seem that hard to change the form power graphics from the position of someone open-minded and untainted by years of education and training to do things a certain way and no other way.
Just look at my idea above for an example.
They could just replace the form power with a new power that accomplishes the same thing in a different more flexible way, unless the power sets themselves are locked which would need fixing itself.
Edit:
Replacing the power could even be handled similar to how Inherent Fitness is handled. People would be grandfathered in until they respec.
Interesting.... but your idea still presents the original problem: Having to recreate quite a few aspects of the models, animations, and effects. If not all of them. -
Heh, fair enough. At least you're being civil about it. And thanks for pointing out the hypocrisy in my argument.
However, I feel like I have to take issue with you saying this and my experiences are like apples and oranges. Yes, they aren't exactly the same... but both are round... and I was really only making that comparison with one aspect in mind: The fact that both are visual effects.
The problem with you bringing up your buddies is that very few things are set in stone in programming. All they have to do to change something is go into the text, change or add a few parts of code (granted, it's not a simple process... I've worked with programmers and I know how utterly insane it can get) and re-save.
Okay so... what am I trying to get at? Well... It's not always that easy when it comes to visual effects. And since I'm fairly certain the game isn't completely done in code... I'm pretty sure I can go with my experience on this one. For example: In Photoshop there are aspects that can be changed freely/dynamically... and things that are set in stone once completed and saved. Lets say you apply a filter to an image you created. Once you save it and close out of that file, you can't un-filter it. Doesn't matter if it still has layers, it doesn't matter what format you save it as. Once it's done... it's done. You'd have to recreate the image all over again. I imagine the devs ran into something similar with Kheldians. Or, hell, that may even be the case for all the powers... it's just that the others were much easier to re-do.
Anyway... I do tend to agree that it doesn't hurt to ask. Unfortunately, that really only applies to individuals. Since so many people have asked about this... over... and over again... it does tend to get rather annoying and, thus, results in an onslaught of negativity and wall-o-text responses. -
Quote:Here's the thing... Unless you're some kind of insider and used to work with NCSoft on the game... you have no real knowledge as to how these things are set up. So... making an assumption based on outside observations doesn't hold up all that well.Shrug,
Seems simple enough to color the forms, if they can do it with Power Surge and such.. I don't see how the leap is that difficult to coloring Kheld forms.
Don't feel bad, it happens to everyone. It's so easy to watch things from a distance and make judgments as to how things can be done. However... speaking from personal experience... 99% of the time you won't have all the information. It's entirely possible that, because the effects from the Kheldian class were done differently... that they aren't as easy to convert into dynamically colored powers.
Sorry if it seems like I'm going on a bit of a rant here. I'm a graphic artist... and I can't tell you how irritated I get when people try to tell me how to use Photoshop. -
Quote:You make it sound as if the Devs are protecting these aspects of the game for personal reasons. From what I can tell, this just isn't the case. Or rather... there are different reasons for it.it seems as though anything that comes from game lore: VEATS, HEATS, and Patron Powers, seems to be off limits for now in terms of power customization. bane maces, huntsman rifles and widow claws can be customized, but thats more weapon customization than power customization.
next up for customization is power pools and epic pools.
VEATS are pretty much as customizable as they can get (for now). You can change their claws, rifles and maces. Since almost every power is an extension of those weapons... Boom. You have (partial) power customization. Granted... I would like to be able to customize things like Fortitude or Serum... but in this case... the work it would take to change them would out-weigh the satisfaction of completion.
HEATS, from what I understand, are just too difficult to change at the moment. Every power has their effects 'baked in' as it were and would almost certainly require a re-do just to be able to give us a minor perk. Not only that, but the models for their transformations would also have to be redone so that they can be changed as well... otherwise you'd have powers colored all kinds of different ways... but with a Warshade Lobster Mode that's still a dark purple.
Patron Powers... those are like all the other pool powers in the game. You can't customize those either. As for why... I have no clue. I can only imagine it has something to do with you're ability to respec out of them that would cause things to go haywire. -
You cut that string! Cut it now! -
Quote:- Zatana to shows up and enchants Clark's glasses so that nobody will realize that he's Superman. At this point I'm guessing that
- Slade banished to the Phantom zone took with him a piece of the 'darkness' which will possess someone powerful there, such as one of Zod's lieutenants. They will escape to be the 'Darkseid' level foe Clark knocks out in one punch in the series finale.
- All the problems with people guessing Clark's identity will be erased when the 'darkness' is defeated, as nobody will remember anything that happened while they were influenced by it. Thus the vigilante registration act, etc, will cease to exist and only the heroes will remember what happened.
I find the second to be the more likely of my two guesses, but I'm not counting the first guess out.
On a side note: I think the first idea is interesting... but... instead of it being one of Zods LTs, it's the real Darkseid. Or rather... what will become Darkseid after his smokey-ness joins that particular body. -
I'll be watching this thread like a hawk.... because, oddly enough, I have the exact same situation as you... only mine isn't 50 yet. I just got done trying to create a build for him in Mids with the focus being survival. I have 22% defense on ranged and AoE with 41% smashing and lethal resists. I've got Hasten and I was considering the recharge Alpha.... but I'm not sure how effective that would be VS building for pure recharge.
-
Yeah, that's why I try to avoid using it as an opener when facing smaller baddies. And if a Boss I'm lookin at gets smoked, I can usually find a stray minion to one-shot with it. It's probably not as effective for teamplay... but man... I do love one-shotting things. lol.
-
Agreed. It's definitely worth getting regardless of the lack of crit. It's a great addition to your attack chain.

Quote:Entertainment. It lacks entertainment....not thrilled about Haven returning, something about that show just feels lacking.
There are no compelling characters, the story seems to be episodically driven with an over-laying plot that's as dull as it is vague... all hidden under the excuse of trying to present a mysterious town to it's audience.
I literally laughed out loud when I first heard them mention 'The Troubles'. That was the moment I lost what little interest I had left in the show. How give something so serious with such a... poorly thought out name? The Troubles? Sounds like a childs fake disease like Kooties. Actually... I suppose it could also be a cheesy 50s sitcom family. -
Listen to the jumbled talking just before it cuts to Iron Man in the beginning of the clip. Someone distinctively says "Let go of my codpiece, don't touch my nipple."
-
I have yet to see any movie in this series... and I don't intend to start now.
I would have been more interested in the pairing otherwise. -
I actually think that looks really cool. But attaching the Superman name to it is just a God-awful idea.
-
I'm just going to throw Inception out there... since I didn't see anyone else mention it.
And also, even though I haven't seen it yet.... I hear Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is very good on Blu-ray. -
Hey, you got your Black Ops in my Tricky.
No, you got your Tricky in my Black Ops.
Wait a minute...
*chomp*
OH GOD IT BURNS!
--------------------------------------
SSX is not SSX without it's colorful stages and stylish characters. I hope, for everyones sake, that this is only to show some sort of freestyle downhill segment and that they'll come out with another trailer that shows something more familiar. -
Quote:A valid point. My main Storm/Elec Defender has a team-focused build with fairly decent IO sets (even a purple Hold set in Tesla Cage). I haven't respecced her since I19, she still has Fitness as a power pool and the Rech/Heal Alpha Boost on top. I played both the new TFs and didn't feel at all inconvenienced.
Quote:Situational awareness and the ability to learn new tactics on the fly were far more valuable than 5% more recharge or 8% more damage in my attacks.
Quote:There are players who enjoy playing the market for the best IOs and putting together builds that squeeze out every last % of numerical advantage. The third build is for those players, so they don't have to abandon one of their existing builds to get the maximum efficiency from the Alpha slot. For everyone else, ignoring the third build is a perfectly viable option. -
Quote:Blasphemy! I should strike you down where you stand!Has a visual flair. However I don't think that alone, or the fact Summer Glau is in it, will make it succeed any better than the majority of original superhero shows of the past such as M.A.N.T.I.S. or Exo-man.
I'll watch it. From what I've seen... at the very least.... it looks somewhat interesting.
Besides, it also has Keith David in it. And I'm hoping he is allowed to keep some of his zen-like awesomeness from Pitch Black. -
Considering the fact that I can think of at least 3 entire TV stations dedicated solely to 'celebrity' gossip and rumor-mill.... I agree. It doesn't matter who they are... if they were good looking, are good looking, or are rich... they'll get TV coverage. It's part of why I hate this country sometimes. The constant celebrity obsession makes me want to punch random people.

Quote:A fair point. Granted, one could argue that you have to use it in order to get the maximum effectiveness of your Alpha enabled character while exemplared... as was pointed out in the original post. But hey.... semantics, right?Just because you have a tool at your disposal doesn't mean you have to use it. Why are we complaining about this again?
I suppose it just feels like the Devs don't have a very good grasp on how difficult it is for the average player to make a good character build.
"Hey, lets put in a few changes that will force every player to re-IO all their characters using our ridiculously clumsy and time-consuming respec system."
For Christs sake, that system was meant for DOs and SOs, a readily available enhancement. But now that IOs are considered the *standard* method... could we at least have extra enhancement trays so we could save more than 10 friggen enhancements per respec.
Then again... this could be the manifestation of a recently realized regret (stemming from a poor financial situation which forces me to choose between having the time to play this game regularly and having the money to be able to play it at all) at how casual players continue to get screwed over... simply because they have less time to play.
I've also got a cold and it's late.... I'll probably be less grouchy in the morning.
