In fact, you should be able to use a button next to the order in the order list in your Amazon user profile to request return authorization automatically.

You can certainly get IO set recipes in a lot of places, can't you? In the interest of helping people who want to slot out their characters but don't have a gazillion Inf, I've written up a mini-guide suggesting some of the best ways people can obtain set IO recipes by grinding for them rather than paying for them.
R_M's Guide to Obtaining Invention Set Recipes Outside the Auction House -
Signed. It would be really nice when crafting up IOs for badges or for characters to be able to sit in the base, snag the salvage from the market, craft, and put into storage without having to zone.

You know you can read the mission text even if you're not the team leader by clicking the red starburst in the navigation tab's mission name display, right? Even lets you read the text from contacts that have been talked to by other people.

Quote:Isn't the anti-zombie shotgun a 75-use weapon? There's a 20-use regular shotgun handed out as a Mayhem/Safeguard Mission arms deal glowie, but the anti-undead one has considerably more charges.I understand this but other Free-to-Plays don't sell items that are one use other than rezes and such. You won't find 20 use weapons.
(And it's not just useful during zombie invasions, either. It also has full effectiveness on Banished Pantheon, Circle of Thorns demons, Tsoo Ancestor Spirits, and Croatoa/Ghost Ship ghosts, just like the ghost-slaying axe.) -
I realize this is a slightly old thread, but better to resurrect an old (and short) one than to start a new one.
I think that given the tech the devs have developed that allows non-tradeable items, they should go ahead and make the Kora max-size again, but untradeable. (And any insps you combine them into, such as rezzes, similarly untradeable.) That would let people who want to run the missions for the goodies do so, but prevent them from being able to pass them off to others--they have to use them themselves.
I think it's a great compromise idea. -
Quote:I tend to slot two Acc SOs, or their equivalent, in powers I don't set-slot. But that's because I like fighting +2/+3 mobs regularly (heck, when you start out in Incarnate, before you get your first level shift, you'll be facing +4s.), and I seem to recall doing the calculations some time ago that if I wanted to cap my chance to hit against +4s I needed two. I suppose that if they changed things over some of the time I've been away I could be wrong, of course.Sure, on occasion if you are chasing certain set bonuses, you may have to concede that one or two aspects of your power may not be enhanced quite as much as you'd like (three accuracy SO's is overkill in the first place. you generally don't need more than one, and if anything is debuffing you to the point that a third becomes necessary, that's where you use insps instead.) but you can generally keep important values where you need them. For damage sets you'd have to TRY to not get a total of around +100% after ED, seriously, almost everything includes at least some damage.
(I've never really seen the point in Focused Accuracy or the Alpha slot that gives accuracy bonuses. Anybody in his right mind should have slotted that well enough before ever getting those powers available!) -
Quote:You can have more than one set of anything except Purples. (Though some sets do have enhancements in them that you can't use more than one of on a single character, such as the Numina's Convalescence regen/recovery bonus IO.) In practice, it's probably not worth it to have more than five sets of a single thing on a given character, since that means the sixth set won't get any of its set bonuses at all.Thank you all for the VERY useful replies! This does clear it up for me a good bit.
To be clear on something...you can use most IO stes more than once on the same toon? I know there are "unique" ones that says you cant....
And thats where the rule of 5 comes in? You cant have more than 5 bonuses on a single aspect?
The rule of 5 is that you can't have more than five set bonuses of a particular "size" effective on a character. The weird thing is that this doesn't go by percentage number, but by descriptor: for example, you can only have five effective bonuses of the "HUGE" size, but not all HUGE bonuses are going to be the same percentage. (I have a character who I set up with five "HUGE" 3.5% Defense bonuses and one 1.75% Defense bonus...but it turned out that the 1.75% one didn't register on my character because it was called "HUGE" too.)
You can find out more about this at ParagonWiki.
Essentially, as I've said, the big benefit to IOs comes from set bonus stacking. One other side benefit is that a lot of IO sets, such as Obliteration, come with a "Chance of <type> damage" proc. Whenever that proc fires off, it kicks in a very decent chunk of bonus damage to your power, which means it's even more effective, on average, than the amount of damage encapsulated in the IOs would suggest.
Play around with Mids, and watch the way the "Totals" go when you fill out your build with IO sets. Bear in mind that it's no longer all that hard to acquire even the orange rare sets anymore if you're willing to grind a bit to buy them with Astral Merits, Reward Merits, or Alignment Merits. (Purples can even be ground for with Alignment or Empyreans, though those can take substantially longer.) And remember you can slot out with cheaper yellows to tide you over until you can afford the costly reds.
Good luck! -
The thing you're not taking into account here is set bonuses and IO stacking. You never want to use just one IO set. You need to be thinking about hitting the "rule of 5" cap. Often the benefits you gain from stacking multiple IO sets can more than offset what you lose on any individual power by swapping its enhancements for IOs.
Some IO combinations (I don't have the time to look them up right now) offer you a buff to damage, accuracy, or recharge rate. Say that some set offers a 7% buff to damage. If you slot five of those, then that's the equivalent of an extra SO in damage enhancement--damage enhancement that doesn't trip Enhancement Diversification, by the way--applied across all of your powers. Same for accuracy, recharge rate, etc.
What you need to do is plan your build with Mids, put in the enhancement sets, and see what the totals are. You might be surprised how effective some of these changes can be. Also, consider slotting IO sets at level 30, so that you keep all those set bonuses when you exemp all the way down to level 27. Just a thought. -
And also, when you add up the in-store costs on all the items, you end up with a fairly decent savings over buying them all separately. Just the temp powers are a buck each. Then you get five self-rezes and five dam/acc Inspirations...

Note that if you pay for the Cedega subscription-based WINE service, you should be able to play CoH under Linux as-is pretty easily.

I was just wondering: can rogues or former villains, who have snagged the various accolade powers from redside earn the equivalent/same powers from the blueside accolades? i.e. if I have Invader, could I also earn the accolade of Task Force Commander and get that additional hit point bonus? Could I have two stolen Crey freeze guns, or Archmage-type defense bonuses?

I know that beggars can't be choosers, and I don't want to sound ungrateful—I think it's fantastic that ParagonWiki is available at all—but do you have any idea when write access will be restored for ParagonWiki? A guide I have posted is somewhat out of date in a couple of important respects and I've really been wanting to revise it for the last several days now. I've been trying to be patient, given the nature of the problems the sites have faced, but I'd really like to get that revision out of the way.

Can someone clarify how the procs on Reactive Interface work? I have the tier 4 that gives a 75% chance of a fire DoT and a 25% chance of a damage resist debuff.
Does that mean each time I fire a power off, it rolls once and if it gets a 1-75 it DoTs and 76-00 it debuffs? Or does it roll separately for each proc? -
I find that the NCSoft Launcher is only good for one launch of the game. If I try to launch it a second time, it doesn't quite fill in the "loading game" window on the screen and I finally have to kill it from Task Manager and re-run the CoH shortcut.
Not sure if it's related, but sometimes if I kill the NCSoft Launcher by right-clicking its icon and choosing exit, when I run CoH again I get the following unhandled exception. Would appreciate any possible technical advice.
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Quote:Unless, of course, he(?) goes with the Afterburner flight power. The way Afterburner works is that it removes the flight speed cap, so any flight speed enhancements slotted into the Fly power will have their full effect.Nowadays Fly is already capped at the max flight speed even without any slotting, so you're wasting a Hami-O there. If you want to put something in the default slot, stick in a regular endurance reduction.
By the way, it's also worth noting that you don't need to take Hover before Fly anymore, and you can now take Fly at level 4. -
I assume that's a limitation of the system, given that there are a lot of things you can't do while in an instanced map (be invited to a team, call contacts, access the auction house, etc.). Don't know that there's anything they could do about it without majorly changing the way the whole game works.
-
The LFG queue system has a couple of problems.
1) "Join an event already in progress" doesn't let you join events that have vacancies unless they've dropped below the minimum level necessary to play it. It should let you join events that have dropped below the maximum level allowed.
2) You can sit in the LFG queue all day while trials form left, right, and center if every trial fills completely before it starts. The way that Incarnate trials are formed by people hanging out in RWZ or Pocket D, inviting until they have two or three full teams, doesn't give those people waiting in the LFG queue any way to get in unless and until someone starts a not-quite-full trial and leaves it open for others to join.
Is there any way these issues could be addressed? -
Quote:Well, for starters I'd recommend ditching the concealment pool, at least beyond the basic Stealth power. Phase Shift got nerfed some time ago, and now has a maximum duration of 30 seconds before it kicks off again. It's not really worth the skill spend anymore.
Here's what I've got:
Thoughts/guidance? Is my strategy as antique as my enhancements?
Likewise, you no longer need to spend skill slots on the Fitness pool; it's inherent now. Perhaps you'd like to pick up Choking Cloud and the last couple powers from the psychic pool instead. I don't really have the time right now to go through and spec out a full build, but that's my top-of-head observation.
You're definitely going to want to pry out those hami-Os and six-slot specific powers to emplace IO sets that will help you. Attack sets are the most commonly slotted; for your ranged single-target you'll want to go with the rare set Positron's Blast if you can afford it; if not you'll get decent results with the uncommon set Detonation until you can afford Positron's Blast. For ranged AoE you'll probably want the rare set Obliteration (though it's pretty expensive and hard to find), with the uncommon set Thunderstrike filling in until you can get them.
And consider what level of IOs you want to slot. Lower level IOs have smaller per-Enhancement bonuses, but they provide their set bonuses across a broader range of powers. For example, if you have level 30 IO sets slotted, you'll get access to the set bonuses if you exemp all the way down to level 27. (In a lot of cases, if you're sure to slot multiples of IOs, you'll get set bonuses that make up for the weaker IO strength.) -
Quote:Might be more economical just to buy a couple dozen enhancement unslotters.Aside:
It's a bit pricey, but if you end up wanting to pull HOs out of your build during a respec, you can by global Enhancement Storage upgrades (10 slots each for $20, 2 upgrades available, 30 storage slots total per character). Might be pricey, but it's a permanent upgrade for all of your characters. Considering extra respec tokens are $10 per, it's not a bad option. -
Quote:You can only have five IO set bonuses of a particular size before further bonuses become ineffective. No worries. This information is all helpful. Now I just have to figure out this "Law of Fives" thing!
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Rule_of_Fives -
Being on a Mac is a bit of handicap when it comes to character design, yes. (Unless you can set up Boot Camp to dual-boot it or Parallels to run Windows apps?) Mids is EXTREMELY helpful.
That being said, some general-purpose advice: decide what effects you're going for and apply the "Rule of 5" to get a multiple of five times the best bonus you possibly can, and as many other different bonuses of that type you can fit in.
Don't be constrained to buying up orange sets. You can get a number of yellow sets quite cheaply on the market, and they're better than nothing until you can afford orange sets.
You'll probably want to invest in some Enhancement Unslotters from the market, unless you're willing to respec a total of four times to pull all those Hami-Os out ten at a time. After you do pull them out, I'd save them in supergroup base storage, if you have membership in a SG and can trust your SGmates not to pilfer. They can be valuable on the market, but they can also be valuable to you down the road if you end up slotting some of the fewer-than-6-Enhancements IO sets that leave room left over. (For instance, a Dmg/Acc Hami-O goes nicely with the 5-IO set Kinetic Combat.) -
