  1. Eminem - Without Me

This song reminds me of you.
  2. A guildie of mine on WoW (yeah yeah, I know, I know) is in the Beta testing and really likes it - travel powers at level 6, and there are about 12 of them. Zone wide PvP for those that are into it, and lots of customizable powers.

Personally, after waiting til level 10+ for travel powers here, and higher than that in World of Walking, I'm interested enough to want to try it if I can.

I am going to link some songs here, because they're going to be my theme songs tonight, and if you are on TS w me, you will more than likely hear them blaring in the background or... depending on how full of tasty adult beverages I get, hear me singing them. Loudly and offkey.

    Dust Galaxy - Limitless
Nickodemus featuring The Real Deal - Sun Children (hippity-hoppy)
Ancient Astronauts featuring Raashan Ahmad - Risin' High (hippity-hoppy)

I am intruiged by the Bakon, mainly because it means I could have a Caesar without clam juice and it'd still be tasty. There's something about the thought of juicing them that just gives me the collywobbles.

I am both interested, and disgusted by the thought of this.

  9. I don't really like the look of them at all... thanks for the info on getting rid of people's sigs though. I liked the option on the old board where it was just text - no graphic banners, etc.

Maybe it'll just take some time to get used to.
  10. Please!

    Sun Children - Nickodemus
    Come To Me - Koop
    Risin High - Ancient Astronauts
Everything You've Done Wrong - Sloan
I Will Give You Everything - The Skydiggers

Any of those, and I thank you

  11. I went through all the pages, and recompiled the list of posted global channels, along with a little snippet of info with each one, if available.

Here's the new list of global channels for Protector:

Jello Shooters (More of a basic chat channel)
TF and Badge (Looking for task force and badge assistance? Check here!)
Protector Watch (mainly used for rare spawning monsters, occasional task force)
Villain Badges (looking for badges or giant monsters on villains? Go here.)
    Badge Squad (mainly Villain badges)
Protector Vigilance! For announcing Giant Monsters, badge hunting and task forces!
Paragon Watch should also be listed. The channel is for Badges/TFs/SFs & Giant Monsters.
Protector Badge (form teams, Badge missions, Monster Events, Taskforce/Strikeforce recruiting)
Paragon Interlink (A multi-server channel for badges, task forces, teams, hammi raids, and more.)
Badgipedia (all badges from Monster Sightings all the way to Invention badge help can be talked and discussed here)
Badge Covenant (Fun chat, monster/badgefarm/SFand TF teams.) (primary vill. but heroes are MORE than welcome also)

  12. Any other new channels out there?

I'd suggest making a speical, carefully modded sub-section for the over-sensitive ones, and leave the normal people to carry on as before.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why? I really am just curious as to what is so hard about watching what is said a little bit, not taking away from the fun and occasional thread-jacking but the attacks mostly, what is so hard about that?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I find it interesting that people with a genuine concern over this are being called over sensitive. Just because some of us can't manage to post over 4000 times in one month doesn't mean our opinions are any less valid than yours, so do us the favour of not insulting us just because you don't agree with how we feel. I'm pretty sure we haven't done it to you.

A lot of the attitudes shown in this thread towards people with valid concerns is exactly why this has to happen.

    -River.
  14. It’s not that I have decided that I ‘resent’ the banter. Protector is fun and some of the banter is fun too. It’s that the banter shows up everywhere, in almost every thread. By putting people on ignore, it doesn’t solve the problem at all – instead you get pages of ‘You are ignoring this user’ and the occasional post which might be something you’re looking for scattered occasionally in between.

Like Ex said, some people only have a few minutes each day to read the boards and don’t have time to filter out non-related stuff. Best example I could give… there was a post by someone who was looking to get to level 40 quickly. That thread is 4 pages, maybe 5 pages long now, and only 2, maybe 3 people have given him a straight answer to his question (and before the finger-pointing even begins, yes, I was included in the jacking). Were you that person, do you think you’d want to wade through all those pages trying to find the answer to your question? How is that fair to the OP? I think there was another thread where someone wanted information about Protector PvPing on the server – and bless her heart I think Cierra was the one who answered - but if memory serves, someone ‘chastised’ her jokingly for giving that answer because it was in the middle of a well played jack. Again, how is this fair to the OP when they’re trying to get answers to their questions? No OP should have to specifically ask that their thread not be jacked. It should be implicitly understood that it shouldn't be.

I am trying really, really hard to see everyone’s point of view on this, I really am, but for me it just keeps coming back to the fact that we have 2 threads that are devoted to threadjacks and banter (and one of them was even given to us by one of the Mods themselves!). Why isn’t this enough for us?

With regards to other servers not getting smacked, well, maybe other servers haven’t thought to ask the mods for assistance, or don’t care enough about their server to try. I don’t know, and I don’t give a crap about the other servers and their problems. I care about OURS. But it’s also not fair to the mods to suggest anything other than impartiality when dealing with us. Players asked for help, and they came. As well, frankly, if there WASN’T a problem, Ex wouldn’t be here trying to get us to talk about it, and come up with a solution everyone can try to agree on.

Ex could have just swooped in, locked every thread, and told us all to smarten up and pointed menacingly to the forum posting guidelines, and said ‘Obey them or Else!’ but she didn’t. She asked for rational conversation in an attempt to get us to come together to solve the problem. Seems to me she thinks Protector is worth working on to get back on track. Let’s all cut the accusations, mud flinging and crap and try to work together and get this issue solved.

    -River
  15. Who is to decide which thread is important or not?
The OP. It's important to them(the OP), otherwise they wouldn't have posted it.

Having people say they don't threadjack important threads is belittling to someone who does get their thread jacked, because you're basically saying that their issue isn't important.

    -River
  16. Ex,

Thank you for this. Hopefully we’ll have some meaningful discussions regarding this touchy subject.

First though…. You said ‘…and I am staring at 20 pages of removed posts from the 'Protector forum goers have fun here' thread.’ I think a lot of Protector is also wondering why there 20 pages removed as well. I know why the second set of posts were removed, but what was so bad about the first original batch which were removed? Quite a few people were a little perplexed about that; perhaps if knew why, it might help ease some minds.. I mean you did give us that thread specifically to have fun in. What was it that caused it to get it edited so heavily?

In response to your questions for Protectorites:

    1) Threadjacking. Touchy subject, yes. And a lengthy answer is forthcoming. Have I done it? Yes. Have I done it recently? Yes, and I will be the first to admit it as to not be accused of hypocrisy. Nearly all of the regular forum posters do it do one degree or another on various threads throughout the Protector forum, and that’s the problem. Why I like the Stalker Report and the Have Fun Here thread (though mainly the Stalker Report) is that it gives a home to the nearly endless running string of IMs amongst certain groups, and puts them in a nice little thread that I can ignore and never venture into, thereby bypassing a lot of the problem. But sometimes it doesn’t and they spill over into other threads. It’s irritating as heck to come back from work, or being out and see 40+ posts on a board, and have 97% of them be pretty much 1 line instant messages between forumites, with maybe 1 - 2 posts on topic within. Imagine please, that you’re not part of that little clique that does it – that’s a lot of stuff you really don’t want to have to read to filter through. I don’t want to have to pan for gold each time I use the forums… sift, sift, sift for one nugget of information.

    2) Tolerance…I can tolerate a little threadjacking. It’s good, it can be fun, and it keeps us amused and friendly. However, it has gotten out of hand lately, and I don’t mind saying I was disgusted when the ‘Facts About Protectorites’ had to be closed because people refused to stop threadjacking it, even when asked. People need to respect the fact that some of the forum readers want to read threads that stay on topic, and don’t want to have to wade through 20 + posts of hugs, giggles, smiles and one line text messages every day.

People say they don’t threadjack threads that are important – who are we to deem what’s important and what’s not? We can’t determine which threads are important and which aren’t unless we’re the creator of that thread..

I don’t envy you your job, Ex. The discussion here will be interesting, but any results will be short lived. I think Dirt said it best when she mentioned something about KEEPING the right to post here. Some people get their post count up past the 1000 mark in under a month, and yet contribute nothing meaningful to any conversations. Some people post 4-5 times a day, and threadjack occasionally. Some people don’t even play on Protector and just hang around. How do you decide which is worse? How do you deal with it? I don’t envy you at all.

    Thanks,

    -River
  17. The info at the start of it (how to cut lag) is still useful. It'd be nice to keep this thread just because it'll show what it USED to be like for newcomers! See how EASY it used to be?!

*waves cane* Back in my day....

  18. Isn't there a channel on Test that's Protector based, and if so, what's it called?

  19. [ QUOTE ]
Are any of these channels used for finding teams?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Good question. I never thought of it, because to me I always use my friends list/SG list, or use the broadcast channel in the level appropriate zone; otherwise you run the risk of having to weed out the level 8s looking to team with you when you're 43

    -River
  20. [ QUOTE ]
4 of these channels serve basically the same purpose: to get badges. Whether its for hero or villain side, or monsters, tfs, or whatever all 4 are for the same thing, to get badges.

Since we can only be in 5 global channels at once that means that if someone wants to be in a 6th one they are going to drop out of one the badge channels, lowering the amount of resources availible to us on an already low population server.

Seems to me that the best thing to do would be to simply have one Protector badge channel and do away with all these others that divide up the badge hunting community.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No one's saying you should subscribe to all 4 or 5, or 145. Some have lots of people listening, others don't. Pick the one you like the best. That's what we all do.

Im new to the server. so dont tear my face off. but can someone fill me in on who Cimarron is?

How dose 1 go about joining these channels
    ?

    [/ QUOTE ]

To join, right click on your chat window, and select 'Join Channel'. In the box that appears, you're going to put the name of the channel, but I can't remember if you use an @ symbol in front of it like you would if you were adding someone to your global list or not - it should tell you when you go to join.

Then, go to a tab, right click on it, and edit tab -- add the selected channel to your tab, and away you go!

    Happy chatting!

    -River
  23. You don't have to have both channels -- are they in tabs? and if so are the tabs seperate? You may want to check (right click, edit) each tab and see what's IN each one. It sounds like if it IS tabs, you have both in each one, or the same one in both.

If that doesn't help, you may need to give some more information.

    Hope that helps,

    -River
