1+ rep from Carl Rove Man is the equivalent of 50-rep from the rest of the unwashed masses.

I read it in a magazine.

I hate seeing it with 'We need a HEALER.' Apparently, most teams simply cannot function without green numbers over their heads! Granted, attitudes like this mean that if I ever want to get River on an AE PLing team I can with almost no effort, but it's mind numbingly boring. There are so many other great powersets out there for defending - and *gasp* some of them don't even have a heal!

I sent you a forum email but I'll re-tell it here - check the forums for defenders. There are lots of empathy guides that detail what each power does, when you get it, how to use it, who to use it on (fortitude for example), and all the other little details that make up the powers. There might be a guide for emp/nrg but I am not sure.

Get familiar with those forums - if you have any questions, there are lots and lots of knowledgeable players who can help you out with answers. Just ignore the ones that snark at you for asking a question.
  5. Heh if I -rep'd people I didn't like, I'd be at it all frickin day. Why bother. It's silly.

Indeed. It's one power - it doesn't make or break the player. If someone doesn't have a rez you can always work around it. Just like if someone doesn't have fly and wants to do Shadow Shard tfs. You adapt and make it work. You're certainly entitited to your opinion just as I am. If someone doesn't have it, you make due.

I've seen empaths without Rez too - it's not a huge deal to me - why? I carry awakens.

Empaths without fort or CM - that bothers me. Empaths with the medicine pool... that causes much gnashing of teeth.

Teams that wait for not a defender, but a HEALER drive me insane. I personally find that having a 'healer' on the team makes for reckless play, and people expect the 'healer' to be able to save the team from themselves. I find debt is a wonderful teaching tool.

I'll rock your aura then refuse to adapt.
  9. I'm pretty sure everyone has been on a team with someone they didn't know (or someone they did know) that was constantly doing something that irritated them as a player.

Anyone who knows me knows I hate knockback, and it drives me crazy when emps (or rads) rock the aura non-stop through a mission, even when the team isn't fighting. Of course, these people think they're the b357 h3470rz evah!

Please don't use names, but I am curious - what in-game playstyle, or powers really drive you crazy?

    1) Rockin the aura
    2) knockback used in a nice tightly debuffed group of mobs

    Defender: Dark/dark (ME)

There's my dream team. I don't know a LOT about other sets other than defenders and controllers, but I THINK that puts together a team that would be perfect for me. Why?
    1) NO KNOCKBACK. You have no idea how much I hate knockback.
    2) Plenty of debuffy goodness like -acc, -regen, -resistance, -defense
    3) Lots of soft holds (slows galore, stuns and immobs)
    4) Lots of aoe damage coming from the blaster, defender, and troller, all made better by the previously mentioned debuffy goodness.

Pretty much any combination of people who make me laugh, or I make laugh and who know how to play their class makes me happy on a team. I can't pick just 4 other people - there are too many!

Clarification: Sooner, is this for my own personal dream team that I am ON, or just a team I'd love to see?

But, River... watch Dirty Dancing. It's worth seeing. And it would be a nice tribute.
I've seen enough of it in bits and pieces to know that I wouldn't like it, sorry
  13. I was a little saddened to read this: Patrick Swayze dies of cancer.

While I never saw Dirty Dancing (not my type of movie), or Roadhouse, and I never liked Ghost, I DID like Red Dawn, and The Outsiders.

    Rest in Peace.

I was working at a call center here - for AT&T mobile. At that time, the center was set up for inbound calls from the East Coast area (ie: Boston, New York to DC); if you called customer care, you got us. We got calls from everywhere asking why they couldn't get through to the New York.

    Mark III translation:
I like bacon, but today I tried something new with it. I was going to make vanilla french toast, but discovered I didn't have enough bread, and I had already made the mix. I figured, since it's egg, I might as well try it scrambled. It was quite good, but I suspect it's an aquired taast. I think I'll do it again tommorow.
Take that bread, spread cream cheese and cherry, blueberry,or strawberry jam on it and make a sandwich. Dip that sandwich in the egg with cinnamon and vanilla mixture. Make french toast as normal. Add syrup.

Feed that to your significant other, and you shall get whatever you want. Whatever you want. Why? Because you just made your sweetie cherry cheesecake French toast, that's why.

Can I get an AMEN! Major T?!

    Bacon

Sadly, there's no bacon involved in this, but I had to brag since it was so good...

I took a boneless pork loin roast and seared it in a frying pan til all the sides were nice and caramely brown and golden. Then I smeared it all over with a paste of fresh rosemary from my garden, garlic and kosher salt. I put it in a roasting pan and poured some dry white wine over it. I covered it, and put it in a 350 oven for about 45 min. I removed the roast to rest (tented in foil of course!) and added a tbsp of butter (butter makes it better!) to the leftover wine, rosemary and garlic mixture in the pan. Then I added some dijon mustard and whisked it all together and drizzled it over the (now) sliced pork.

It was fabulous. Absolutely amazing. I don't think bacon could have added to the awesomeness.

Hmm. I can't connect to the game.

I was able to get to the login screen earlier, entered my password and then I got that login error message, check firewalls, etc. I closed it out, then tried again and now my updater won't connect.

    Any ideas?

Tried again and was able to get to the login screen - here's the message I get:
The game client was unable to connect to the login server. This may be due to a local network issue such as a firewall block, or may be because the login server is down for maintenance. Please check your network settings and try again, or check http://www.cityofheroes.com/servers/index.html for current server status.

Servers are up according to the website.

Yeah, I knew they had lowered it, I just didn't know to what, and was too lazy to find out

But my lower toons could have one if I wanted, since I have a fairly well geared out toon that only ever does dailies. 20 gold is about 2, maybe 3 dailies, then mail myself the gold and voila! Mount.

Sure would be nice to be able to mail things between characters here, like say... influence.
