Quote:There are shout-outs for teams on Jello Shooters too, but I wouldn't join unless you can handle bawdy talkThanks guys. I joined both Protector Watch and Vigilance today and it paid off when I got in on a Positron TF. By the end we were down to 3 but we still got it done in 2:02, definitely the fastest I've ever run it. Cool.
I also got in on a Jurassik hunt but that was a random invite afaik. Lots of fun to be had on Protector today. -
Quote:To me, mud pots would only work if your name was PigPen and you hung around with Schroeder, Lucy, Linus and Charlie Brown.Well Nylonus is the closest personification of me that I have created. And I have always been happy with his choice of powers.... Fire/Fire/Fire blaster.
The closest alt would have to be my Stone/Ice tank Flash-back. I am just not too sure I would like to see how mud pots translate into real life. -

Quote:I was thinking of contacting one of the movie theaters here and seeing if they wanted to do an old-school 80s-early 90s movie fest over the course of a month or two - like a Sunday matinee, or somethingBetter Off Dead and One Crazy Summer are 2 of the funniest movies from the 80s...
on a side note, if you have fond memories of certain movies from your childhood, it might not be wise to watch them again. i did this recently with the Neverending Story, and damn, is that movie bad...
The movies would be ones like Princess Bride, Better Off Dead, One Crazy Summer, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Lost Boys, The Last Starfighter, etc...
I think people my age would pay to go see those movies in the theatre again! It'd be a blast! -
Quote:And of course Clash of the Titans
These are not great movies, with great dialogue. But they filled my young imagination with awe and wonder.
Duuuudddeeee, they are remakingClash of the Titans. 2010 cannot come fast enough, for this looks awesome!
Also, I forgot Excaliber. -
We just have the 1 beagle - he's almost 8. We keep looking to see if there are any around, but there are not a lot of beagles around here. I would enjoy a second dog a lot, but I don't think that our youngest cat would enjoy it too much - we got her from the SPCA and she's a little skittery still to expose her to a new dog. She's scared enough of Sully as it is!
When I saw the pic, I thought you had taken a pic of my dog -
I almost forgot:
Gotcha!
My dad and I love the cafe scene - I'll have a Pernod. Avikdilou. -
Quote:this.sounds pretty good, stale. However, i'm a bit concerned that we might be over-complicating things. I think there is a large portion of new players that would be happy to have folks available to help them, but will shy away from anything that is too formal or complex.
Why not simplify things, and stick to having a mentor/student sg available for those that want to go that route, along with a global channel? Keep the mentor/student relationship informal. Drop any mention of 'contracts'. This way, students can feel free to access any of the mentors as a resource at any time, when they have questions or need help. -
Trailer Park Boys: The Movie
Ricky: Do you want to take it to F***town Lahey? Cause that's where this is headed: Downtown F***town!
Parts of this was filmed down the street from my house -
Burn It To The Ground, Nickleback.
You're a boy and I'm a girl
But you know you can lean on me
And I don't have no fear
I'll take on any man here
Who says that's not the way it should be
I stand in front of you
I'll take the force of the blow. -
From the Adventures of Robin Hood:
Lady Fitzswalter: Why, you speak treason!
Robin Hood: Fluently.
Such an awesome, awesome movie. -
Quote:Sadly, The Dark Crystal doesn't translate well into watching it today. It's nowhere near as good as I remember.Ooooh, I forgot the Dark Crytal... LOVED that movie! And red dawn... TOO MANY CHOICES!
I forgot about these ones...

I think my fave from Princess Bride are these:
There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world. It would be a pity to damage yours.
and:
No. To the pain.
(and that entire scene!) -
This'll probably date a lot of us, but Sooner's thread for favourite movie quote has got me thinking about all my favourite movies from when I was younger.
I may rent all these one weekend and just veg on the couch with a truly heroic amount of popcorn and watch them all...
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Lost Boys (real vampires. They don't sparkle, and they're not 'vegetarians')
Stand By Me
Better off Dead
One Crazy Summer
Real Genius
Young Sherlock Holmes
Yellowbeard (Monty Python meets Cheech & Chong... oh yes) -

Quote:Oooohhhhh, that was low, T. Real low. We've know each other for so long
Your heart's been aching
But you're too shy to say it
Inside we both know what's been going on
We know the game and we're gonna play it
Rick Astley, Never Gonna Give You Up.
You can look but you can't touch it,
If you touch it I'ma start some drama,
You don't want no drama,
No, no drama, no, no, no, no drama -
I have a bunch of favourite lines...
Ghostbusters:Quote:Real Genius:Ray, when someone asks you if you're a god, you say "YES"!
Where do these stairs go? They go up!
Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!Quote:I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"
If you think that by threatening me you can get me to do what you want... Well, that's where you're right. But - and I am only saying that because I care - there's a lot of decaffeinated brands on the market that are just as tasty as the real thing.Quote:Hey, where the white women at? -
In jr and high school up here, every Christmas we adopted a family in need, and got a list of things like how many people in the family, sizes, what they needed, and a larger (though not huge) toy for the little ones. You should have seen the stuff we got for them, holy smokes.
Don't forget, you can help out any way you can - if you want to help out but money's tight, you can always volunteer your time (even though it'd take you away from here!!!). -
Quote:It's a holiday here, Arion. Rememberance Day in Canada. On a side-note, I completely despise and am sickened that most people don't get off for Veteran's Day. For example, MLK Day is nationally celebrated and we get off. I'm not downplaying the man or his accomplishments, but why in the hell should we get off work for the actions of ONE man and not all our past and present soldiers who have/are fighting for our freedom? <end rant>
-
Quote:Very appropriate.Oh, the wind, the wind is blowing,
through the graves the wind is blowing,
freedom soon will come;
then we'll come from the shadows.
It's The Partisian, by Leonard Cohen.
Everything is bleak.
It's the middle of the night.
You're all alone and
the dummies might be right.
You feel like a jerk. -
Quote:Thanksgiving (American) is in 15 days from today. I understand it's a huge holiday in America, and people take it very seriously. As well, with Child's Play, you often get gamers giving entire gaming SYSTEMS, like a PS3, or a PSP. Those may require budgeting to do so, if that's what you want to do - hence, the 'early' notice.Christmas is in December... that is when its season should be starting. No other holiday gets to start a full month (or more) before it happens.
It doesn't take much for a food bank - I always like to give a few non-perishables that the food banks don't often get to see, like pudding cake mixes, or something else that can be considered a treat for the little ones.
I almost forgot, if you don't want to give to food banks (which btw may be easier than you thought if your local grocery store has a donation bin for it!), or Child's Play, animal shelters sometimes get overlooked during Christmas. (This is where Sooner gives me a huge hug and a kiss!) Last year, I donated money to our local no kill shelter instead of buying a present for my grandmother. It's a good way to give a gift for people that don't need anything.
Goodness I'm coming off as preachy here, but it's for a great cause(s)! -
The Thanksgiving (American) and Christmas season is upon us.
If you can, don't forget to drop off a couple of cans of non-perishables at your local food bank, or a gift at a shelter for a child who may otherwise not get one.
As well, don't forget about CHILD'S PLAY CHARITY, by the boys from Penny-Arcade. For those of you not familiar with it, here's a little blurb from their website:
Quote:Gamers helping kids in sick hospitals. Awesome!Since 2003, over 100,000 gamers worldwide have banded together through Childs Play, a community based charity grown and nurtured from the game culture and industry. Over 5 million dollars in donations of toys, games, books and cash for sick kids in childrens hospitals across North America and the world have been collected since our inception. -

You'd have to know the song, because you can't google the lyrics
Quote:My time with you is so priceless
More than TV psychics could ever guess
More than people with no vertebraes
Twist and stretch themselves for words of praise
Limitless, by Dust Galaxy
I don't know what it is, but the lead singer (Rob Garza from Thievery Corporation) just does something for me.
Ok, here's a different one.
I've been making shows of trading blows just hoping no one knows
That I've been going through the motions, walking through the part
Nothing seems to penetrate my heart.
