Okay, apparently arcs that enter the Hall of Fame can lose that rating due to down-votes (I'm now back in the Hall of Fame, but probably not for long). I have the extra publishing slot so long as the arc remains in the Hall of Fame, but once it's voted out, I lose the extra slot.
Edit: And I can confirm that "anything over 4" is definitely not the case.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wait you're losing you're HoF status after attaining it due to additional votes? Are we sure this isn't a bug? I would bug that..something seems off about having a 4th slot, that then vanishes after you rightfully earned it..really bug it and see what happens. -
I remember when a Mind dom from the European boards, came and posted this method a few years ago. Everyone laughed and said it wasn't possible and that she (or he?) was making it up. The dom boards have come a long way since then! Thanks for posting this...also who do we talk to get this posted in the Guides section for Dominators?

Not to mention the fact it only has four attacks,...
[/ QUOTE ]
From the looks of it, if you're going to slot the needed powers, there is really only room for 4-5 attacks. In regards to aidself, is it really that good in PvP these days, I decided to go for Phase Shift instead..
The biggest problem I'm running into is coming up with an attack chain that will let me take down an opponent quickly. I can slow people down to a crawl, debuff the helll outta most AT's. But doing enough damage, is proving to be a challenge. -
[ QUOTE ]
the build is ridiculously tight. that's why you don't see it much.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks for the advice, and yah I noticed the tightness of the power choices, as I work on my PvP secondary build. Any suggestions for power pool picks? -
I've been searching for information about PvP'ng as a Bane Spider but can't find much of anything. I mostly looking for general build advice, power pick suggestions ,and strategy. Thanks in advance for your courteous responses.

Magic based?
Will we finally get full body robes and hoods? Some part of me wants to get the rune temporary power from Croatoa.
Were are the details about the mission teleporter and the Valkyre costume
[/ QUOTE ]
SexyJay mentioned at the last HeroCon that Robes for player characters is really hard to do on the current game engine. All the Robed (or full length-skirt) NPC's we see in the game are basically cylinders, without real legs. There was some more technical stuff mentioned, but I can't remember it all..maybe Jay will pop buy and clarify.
That being said...I'm super excited about the possibility of Magic based expansion pack. -
Great Idea overall..and I really like using Hero Corps more. The one thing that sort of bugs me is how Hero Corps sort of vanishes in the late game story line. It seems like they would be more involved in the goings on in Paragon and the Rouge Isles.

10 second count-down, and you die every time you use it...
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, gameplay advantage. If you play a tank, it's trivially easy to go into a large group, pop a red or two and maybe a yellow, and dole out a sweet purchased Nova to your enemies, probably defeating most of them, and making it really easy for the rest of the team to mop up. Pop a wakie, or even better, have someone with Resuscitate or Resurrect on hand, and you're good to go.

PHEAR MY L33T CYBORG POWERS, ALL YOU WARBERG CRETINS!!!
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, we're all impressed by your sarcasm, but I don't think it will be quite as funny when $15 a month just plain isn't enough to play any more.
[/ QUOTE ]
You've got to be kidding me. People are upset by a subpar travel power, that's only being offered as an appeasement and a nuke that takes an 1hr to recharge. These booster packs just have little perks in them with a few emotes thrown in. Nothing game breaking...or anything that would make one toon"better to play than another".
I don't get the "doom" and "panic" reaction, especially when it's over nothing. -

[ QUOTE ]
Well, that's the other thing. I'm four years old in the game also, and I remember when we used to get all sorts of cool stuff like VEATs for free. Really! We got Kheldians for free, capes and auras for free, respecification trials, flypose emotes (among many, many others), at least three or four cool new costume pieces, the list goes on.
Yes, we still get some stuff for free, and thank goodness we do. But now, we're having to pay for a lot of the stuff that we also used to get for free, and that's even after they've rolled out in-game advertising to raise more money, the subscriber base is still quite large, and they're not having to split the take with Cryptic.
What are we getting for all of that extra money that we weren't getting before? I know I for one wish we could go back to the old days of not having to pay out the wazoo for everything, even if it means that we "only" get as much cool free stuff as we did back in the days when Arenas were free, the badge system was free, epic power pools were free, ...
[ QUOTE ]
I have no problem with paying for a "temp power" that frees up two powers (fly and hover). You may see it as a waste of money but I see it as adding two more damage dealing powers to my tanker.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thank you for exactly illustrating my point. I fully realize that there are probably some players who would delight in having the game turned into one in which in order to have the best characters, you have to pay the most money each month. I'm not one of them. This is exactly the kind of game that City of Heroes has rallied to not be in the past.
[/ QUOTE ]
Folks, was no one paying attention to ANYTHING Lighthouse said about this? The ONLY reason they offered this jetpack up on the store is that they got a ton of comments from people WANTING the one that was offered with the time cards. This is simply giving us what WE WANTED. This does NOT imply that there will never be a jetpack costume part. If you don't want to spend $4.99 to have a 30-day temp power at level 1, THEN DON'T. C'mon, it's only providing an ancillary benefit for about 14 levels (EARLY LEVELS!). I think I can stand the inconvenience. Sheesh.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thats exactly the problem. People don't read..and don't pay attention. It's much more fun to come up with half-cocked conspiracy theories.
If they really wanted to make money..they'd drop the flight packs from the mayhems..and the free ones u can earn over and over in Ourorborus. Which isn't going to happen. This means u can earn a Free jet-pack whenever you want.
C'mon guys. CoX has the most transparent managment of almost any business on the planet. There is no plot and certainly no conspiracy to screw anyone over. I like the idea of booster packs. They are inexpensive (one time fee of under $10, less than you'd spend on a movie). And a company is in the business of selling things for a profit. No profit, no business. No business..then say goodbye to CoX. -
[ QUOTE ]
Bought my Cyborg booster pack as planned.
While I'm sure the Devs may sell a few of the temporary jetpacks I'm not going to bite for that one. Had the Devs decided to make it a permanent costume item instead of a rentable flight power they would have had another $4.99 out of me instantly. I will always be willing to buy any permanent booster pack the Devs offer for this fine game. But something about toying with 'rentable' powers just rubs me the wrong way. Consider this a vote against that kind of scheme for the future...
[/ QUOTE ]
I honestly think they only offered it, because it was previously only available with the purchase of an in-game time card. There were complaints as some of those who purchased regular monthly subscriptions wanted the jet-pack too.
I can't imagine why anyone would throw a fit over the tepm jetpack when you can get one for free in a mayhem. But people did.
I really don't think the games management thinks these things will be a big seller. It seems more like tossing a bone out to those who felt slighted because they couldn't have the 30-day pack unless they bought a time-card they couldn't use. -
argh...why isnt it available yet. Must have..cyborg pack now.
-
buahahah...my plans for making a CoT themed villian are now complete. Self-Destruction here I come.
Oh yah..I'll make some cool bot's too. -
Backstory's I'd love to see....
The origin of the Skulls and the Petrovic brothers!
HeroCorps! I would love to see a really cool high lvl story arc with this group.
I'd like to the FBSA (Federal Bureau for Super-powered Affairs) a little more involved in things as well. -
The zone needs a GM to spawn in it occasionally...like a big cyclops or Minotaur.
-
hehee...keep everyone busy during closed BETA...smart..smart move.
-
Gang please be patient. I'm not ready to cry "Villains didn't get anything..." until I see the VEAT's. We have to try to not be so short sighted that we can only see whats right under our noses. If you read between the lines everything from Castles admission that Hero Epic Pools are overpowered, to this most recent announcement, it's obvious that balance has been on the devs mind.
The only logical and smart move would be to design VEAT's to have some of what CoV players have been asking for. The Aracnos NPC's are pretty Mez and Psi resistant. Fortunata's have a cool Mind-link power (and in many respect are psi blasters themselves). The Wolf-Spiders, shudder, have you tried to hold those guys?!?!?!
It only stands to reason the player versions of these will have even more powers. My prediction, the VEAT's will eclipse powers that heros get in this issue. I expect to see posts of ZOMG the Villain Epic AT's are too overpowered. -
All I can say if this is the new Blaster secondary, I can't WAIT to see what villains are getting for VEAT's........fingers crossed.
-
OOoh this is great..I hate shuffling around in the character creator looking for costume pieces!! I also like the real number feature, great addition for casual players, like myself who aren't so "math centric". Actually the in-game numbers we have right now helped me a ton in understanding what the heck forumites were talking about sometimes!!!

well at least it's obivous that you guys hate the villains now.
[/ QUOTE ]
You know after reading this entire thread, and several others, I have to say something:
Villains-only players are the biggest bunch of crybabies I have seen in ANY game forum. If the developers truly hated villains, they would not make sure that the issues had stuff that both "sides" could use. They don't need to.
They could stop all development of everything red side and devote 100% of their resources blue side, but they do not.
Worse, all these calls of "Devs hate CoV" come before a single player has seen Issue 12 as the game is still not even to the closed beta stage.
Whine moar.
The developers might not hate self proclaimed "CoV-Only" players, but after putting up with all the whining in the last 3-4 free issues, I would not blame them one bit.
[/ QUOTE ]Well said!!
[/ QUOTE ]
Many CoV people are upset, because CoH side got the best buffing powers CoV has to offer. In return, CoV got some ok sets, but nothing mind blowing. (FYI only 1 Villain AT gets access to power boost, dominator's, and they don't have access to ally-buffing powers...).
I want to hear what exclusive CoH players say after VEAT's debut. If the VEAT's are 1/2 as good as I think they will be....the same folks calling the CoV people "whiners' will be doing the whining and nerf-herding. I will happily remind them of posts like this... -
Please Posi, please tell us... Stone or Illusion Dominators?????
I"m dying here..dying I tell ya! -

Great another great thing my money has gone to develop that only less than 1% of the population get to use.
Thanks for nothing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, players who have been with the game for 48 months, have placed more money in the system then you have. By your own logic, they SHOULD get rewarded. The longer your put money in the cooler stuff you get. I don't get why people who played the game a short time think they should have access to the same rewards people whove been paying a fee for YEARS should get. Plus anyone who gets this reward has been a loyal COX customer since launch. That may be a small percentage, but its a very important and very loyal percentage. Considering the average MMORPG subscribers sticks around for only a year, four years is phenomenal. And yup I plan on playing for as long as the game is around.
[/ QUOTE ]
Um...No. The fact is that w/o the current subscriber base this game wouldn't even be here. Why shouldn't I recieve whatever everyone else gets. You don't really think subscribtions fees from those who played since day 1 and never took a break is enough to keep this game profitable.
So enjoy your 48th month rewad..but just remember it's all of the current subscribers who helped you get it.
[/ QUOTE ]
You have an April 4th, 2004 reg date, youre getting the reward and pretty soon it looks like. -
[ QUOTE ]
The buff part seems great.
But... I wish they were more "Comic bookish". Thematically I can't imagine any of my characters (who tend to silver age) having any of those as pets. (a few might use the drones). Fairies? Wisps? This isn't a Fantasy game. And Clock Work? Sure I get the easy part, the art was in the game already. But... how about something that thematically fits. Long Bow robot? Arachnos Drone? Maybe not. Anyway. JMTC. I for one care more about theme than numbers.
[/ QUOTE ]
The devs very clearly left two generic choices the Wisps and drones.
Wisps could be Energy, Magic or Psionic projections or even exotic alien life forms.
The Drones could be scientific gadgets built or acquired by your character.
Comic book characters often come across fantastic tech and creatures from myth and legend regardless of their own origin.
