  1. Looks great. Now the only question is... where the HELL do I get my scrappy little fuzzykins?!
  2. Three of the four "support" ATs share powersets. The ones that don't share everything (trollers and MMs) don't share different things than do fenders and corruptors, the other two support ATs. Controllers don't get dark miasma, and masterminds don't get radiation emission as I recall.

The "best" debuff AT is from a raw numeric standpoint the defender, as they get higher AT mods to the debuff portions of the powers they pick. MMs, trollers, and corruptors all share slightly lower AT mods to debuffs, but bring other qualities to compensate for it. Controllers get containment (double damage to mezzed targets), corruptors have higher baseline damage than defenders and get attacks earlier, and masterminds have their own entire teams to lay on the damage and roflstomp hard targets.

In my experience the added debuff values defenders get aren't usually outweighed by the benefits the other three ATs bring with their toolkits. By and large you don't need the extra (20%? I forget) debuff value when say... a controller can solo a giant monster with their weaker but still quite powerful debuffs. You don't need that extra bit of debuff when a mastermind's army of pets can aoe violate packs and packs of mobs or bring a lot of power on a single hard target.

All that aside, the classic most loved debuff sets are radiation emission and dark miasma, as both debuff regen, tohit, defense, and damage resistance. Both get combat rezzes (dark's is the best in the game and also does -regen/tohit/etc.) and control powers (fearsome stare is love, and choking cloud is an easy +rech from the basilisk's gaze 4-slot set). Dark gets a slight edge as it has a perma out of box (except for MMs) pet that also uses debuffs and the crazy strong dark heal, while rad can turn dead teammates into nuclear bombs.

Ultimately it's up to you which support/debuff AT you play, but for my money I'd suggest a radiation controller (illusion suggested primary) or a dark miasma MM (I'd suggest demons or bots, as both hit hard but demons also bring MORE debuffs in the personal attacks and the pets).
  3. Well on my level 50 demon/dark MM I have two whip attacks. The cone one, and the single target ranged one (not lash, the 20' one). I find them handy for their additional debuffs coupled to the damage they inflict, so it's less "do I have two okay attacks" and more "do I have two more debuffs to spread." From that perspective they're quite nice.

    Getting Older...

The Freakshow line was my favorite. Since you KNOW deep down they do that during their downtime.

Another factor is that science fiction largely reflects the dreams and hopes of its intended audience. 30-40 years ago, space was this big mysterious place full of potential. It was the return of the great open West, a place where a person with a vision and the will to see it done could shape the world(s) as he saw fit. We still thought big and grand and focused on things Out There, where we could expand to fill the... space.

These days the focus has become more intimate and down to Earth. The dreams of the people revolve around technology, not the kind that plants a flag on another world, but the kind you use to make your drab real less drab (and often less real). It's less about claiming a new home for yourself than it is about repainting your prison cell a nominally less bleak shade of gray.

I'm a little drunk right now (shh!) so this isn't exactly a complete thought, but it'll do until tomorrow when I'm in full possession of my faculties and can elaborate more verbosely. The basic idea is that we don't dream big anymore, so our fiction has shrunk accordingly.
  6. It's already been done. At least three times.
  7. Sounds like a mighty fine change, assuming it's proliferated to all versions of placate, including VEAT ones.
  8. Oh hell yes. This would be great. /signed.

The general rule for Chain and "Patch" type powers (along with a few others) is that Offensive PROCs will be fine (chance for damage, mez or debuff) but chance to give the Caster a buff / heal won't work as expected.
Ah, that'd explain it then. I only ever checked it with stuff like the chance for +rech.
  11. As I recall procs only check to fire on the first target of chain powers.
  12. Night widows pretty much always run endurance heavy. Their attacks are fast animating, and with the +rech for perma mind link are up very often. My widow is 50 and can easily burn through her entire bar in prolonged fights. Some battles (lethal resistant AVs, Rommy in the ITF) sometimes needs to pop Elude purely for the end recovery.

Of course at 50 she's got a lot more options to reduce that endurance burden than you do at sub-30 (bless you cardiac alpha slot!) but maybe the performance shifter +end proc and/or numina proc and miracle proc. It's a lot of inf but all three slotted (in addition to stamina) should help take the edge off the end woes a bit.
  13. Curse you all for getting most of my picks (and it's remarkable how many items named I own ) but I'll toss out these:

Some Facts Regarding the Late Arthur Germyn and his Family by H.P. Lovecraft. (short fiction)
The Man Who Folded Himself by an author whose name I forget. (novel)
Learning the World by another author whose name escapes me. (novel)
    Shoot 'em Up (film)
The Invasion from Within by Tsunami Bomb (song)
  14. Whenever Jay says something the best translation is usually "Duuude, I've been smoking crack for the last three days and am totally trippin' balls."
  15. Not presently it's not. The future may or may not add such a set, but presently the safe money's on "Don't count on it."

The sever doesn't really have any way to judge how long the second part takes since it's dependent on your hardware.

The only solution I can see would be that when you zone in you are phased (or otherwise invincible) until you move or attack but I'm sure if the devs implemented it someone would find a way to abuse it.

I think it goes without saying that I'm fine with the Apex door.
Just off the top of my head I can think of one major exploit to a phased/invulnerable until you move flag. Level 50 player and a pack of lowbies enter mission, the 50 goes off and murderizes every mob on the map, the lowbies stay and get rewards for literally zero risk. Since they're immune to all damage/status effects and whatnot they profit from the rewards disproportionately compared to someone who has to actually y'know, work (relatively speaking) for their loot and xp.

As to the OP, if he's really having such trouble with death on loading experiences, my suggestion is to upgrade his hardware. I rarely die on zoning into a mission (even an ambush/front loaded patrol one) on my pretty powerful desktop machine, but my third as powerful laptop I die every so often because my machine takes longer to process the loading than the game server does. This isn't a failing with the game, but with the equipment I use to access it.

PS: I'm also fine with the Apex door. I don't like the blue loldeath patches in concept or execution, but the door isn't a big deal.

    Vet Reward Idea

I think this is a very good idea for everyone.
  18. While I may not have always approved of changes made under your auspices (cough cough fury cough cough ) for the most part you've been pretty impressive as the lord and master of powers numbers. If the minions you leave behind aren't as good as you were then I swear I will track you down and unload a seltzer bottle in your face like an old slapstick comedy routine. Fair winds and many successes, Floyd.
  19. I've only fought her twice so far, both times on my kat/dark scrapper. First time she ate me for lunch by debuffing my resistance from 41-60% (fire/cold-smash/lethal) down well into the negatives and cut the crap out of me with icy swords.

I ended up rezzing three times against her before I won and finding out that she had that autohit -res/def power.

Second go round I bought a couple columns of orange and purple insps and earned a bunch more slaughtering snow men for drops. That time I hacked her up like a Christmas turkey and never even got below half health when I had capped res/def.
  20. Anything with a rich color palette and lots of small details looks good on blu ray. My personal favorite example is An American Werewolf in London. There's a scene near hte beginning where a woman in a pub is holding a teacup. The DVD version it looks like a wide red band on the cup, where in the blu ray you can see it's actually a rather intricate pattern that's a lot of celtic swirling.

That aside, Ghostbusters looks great on blu ray.
  21. Well for me TFs have by and large been a lot more fun since I19 dropped. I prefer kill-most-all style runs and with the shard drops now more and more people are running that way.
  22. If RL were mre like City, I'd be able to murder people on the way to work to cover my mortgage with no serious legal repercussions. Oh a man can dream... *sigh*
  23. That article makes me extremely leery if their idea of new and awesome is "yet more asinine scripted powers that laugh at connectivity and/or reaction time because we're such ******** we can't design stuff that's interesting without this kind of nonsense." Now I'm glad I skipped the beta.
  24. Surveillance is a single target debuff. Venom Grenade is the AoE -res power.
