I destroy the person below me with a thousand words of poetry.
-
I haven't noticed, but maybe because my brute is Axe/Shield. Personally, I love the idle stance with both drawn on my character, helps with the whole foreboding look deal.
-
Oh how could I have forgotten, I'd like to also thank them for extending their intelligence gathering resources past just keeping track of me. I don't know what I would do without you being able to tell how many other masks are in our section of the isles. It helps to know what your competition is going to be like.
-
People who refuse me naming my power Crystal Dragon Jesus Form or Rain of Cats and Dogs stand in the way of freedom of expression! Not to mention, those who do not know what my power of Capitulation of the Seven Heavenly Demon Chain does at first glance on my character's info power tab lack the necessary IQ to team and bask in the glory of my Umbral Glow of A Thousand Pains.
-
-I would like to thank the citizens of the Etoile Isles for faithfully following me when I am kidnapping them. You don't know how many problems we avoid by not having to knock you unconscious, especially citizens such as yourselves that are immune to any form of damage.
-I would like to thank you for not tattle telling Longbow of my whereabouts. Despite your ability to know everything that I've done, no matter how secluded, recent, and far away it happened from you, you know how to keep a secret.
-Words cannot describe my gratitude for not making an impenetrable wall when I rob your banks. You show me time and time again that you can push me with the most minimal of force when you scatter when I arrive, but yet, never stand in my way to block me.
-Again with the secrecy, not sharing your know-how on being invulnerable to harm with Longbow, Wyvern, the Legacy Chain, Vindicators, or Freedom Phalanx.
I thank you, from the very bottom of my rotten heart. -
No, characters that can solo groups spawned for 8 are mostly outliers. Example (only on test, I don't do "fillers" on live), my level 40 Zombie/TA Mastermind cannot solo a group of Carnival of Shadows spawned for 8, but my level 35 Robotics/Storm Summoning can solo the same group. Regardless, a farm arc spawned for 8 soloed will still give vastly superior rewards than a story arc spawned for 8, because the farm arc was made specifically for that, while the story arc was not. While i16 remains on test, a story arc on live will give appropriate rewards for the risks it presents.
-
Quote:Then the analogy of someone going to a horror movie expecting a comedy is dead on. Otherwise, you would simply skip it for the next farm arc you could find. Going to a story focused arc and expecting farm rewards is absurd. If I ran it spawned for 8, and gave me significantly less rewards than the next MArc, yes I would give it a low star rating.
Edit:
Also, the intention of AE is being nerfed to hell. As is, I think the reward/risk ratio is skewed to much to the risk. An all boss ambush should not be worth less than a mixture of minions/lts/bosses. It will just cause people to hand pick minions, lt's, and bosses that all have attacks against the characters strengths instead of just bosses, yet an all boss mob that has strength in everything you might be weak against gives significantly less xp and can face plant an entire team.
I would one star anything that was that hard that gave no reward, and move on to a new MArc. -
Quote:So let's say you pull up a random MArc, you see in the description it has a well thought-out plot description, custom enemies, tags that focus entirely on story. It's obvious it won't have the rewards of a farm. Would you still give it a low star rating? It still gives the correct rewards according to the intention of AE.Classic strawman. Going to see a horror movie and expecting comedy has nothing to do with running an arc and expecting a reasonable reward for running it.
In one you don't expect to see something, in the other you do.
Something more reasonable is going to see a Comedy expecting to see Comedy, but it's horror. A great example of this is Archnophobia. It's actually listed as a Comedy, but it's all horror.
Likewise, if I play a game, I expect rewards through my actions. If those rewards aren't what I'm expecting, then it's low on my rating.
I expect correct rewards through every mission, no exception. -
I just want to say that it's great that your doing this. Villain-side community needs to grow a little bit. Granted, AE dealt a heavy blow to both sides.

Wow, never realized Masterminds had more than twice the cooldown on their version of Dark Servant than Corruptors. Guess double the endurance for lower modifiers wasn't enough for Dark Miasma. Still won't stop me from rolling a Thugs/ or Merc/Dark... at some point in the not so close future.
-
-
I'm not all that interested in a /Trick Arrow Corruptor as I already have a Necromancy/TA Mastermind, but I am indeed rolling an Archery/Dark (possible /Storm) and hoping they fix Rain of Arrows before I get there. They should have plenty of time (should really be fixed before i16 goes live imo, along with the poorer TA values) as I'll also be playing a Dominator.
Only Rain of Arrows' numbers appear to have been ported over directly from Defenders, the rest of the powers seem to correctly use the Corruptor's modifiers. -
Quote:Actually, I think it's important to distinguish between pets, and "psuedo-pets". Jack Frost, Animate Stone, Fire Imps and so on are pets, they are distinct from the AT that summons them and have their own stats and abilities. Lighting Storm, Lightning Rod, Blizzard, Rain of Fire, Ignite, and powers such as that eminate from the caster, then thus should follow the AT modifiers when determining strength.
OTOH, pets do not get their master's Inherent. Controllers can do as much damage as Dominators when they get Containment, so their pets also do as much damage as Dominator pets, they just do it all the time.
Control and debuff effects of pets seems to be a separate issue. Dark Servant certainly seems to be a true pet (although he does no damage) yet he probably should have different debuffing abilities based on who summons him. I'm not really sure what the devs think on this matter, though.
Exactly why? Don't get me wrong, I understand that Dominator and Controller pets should do the same damage, but if that's true, the other true pet, Dark Servant, should retain the same debuffing values. Much like the Singularity, that is almost all control, does the same for both ATs that get him.
Edit: I don't have a /dark that high yet, does the Dark Servant despawn by itself after a set amount of time? -
Quote:Yep yep, my Dominator loves his new Illusion Control, oh wait...But the other ATs have all gotten new primariesproliferated to them too, and GR is a long way off. Nevertheless, I think MMs understand how much more labor-intensive MM primary sets are, which is why I do believe the request was for more secondaries.
I'd love to see cold and sonic myself. Run them through the FF rubric and be done with it. -
Cute, we can play this game.
Dominator >> Fire Control >> Fire Imps: Is using Controller version, should be higher damage.
Dominator >> Ice Control >> Jack Frost: Is using Controller version, should be higher damage.
Controller >> Plant Control >> Fly Trap: Is using Dominator version, should be lower damage.
Dominator >> Earth Control >> Animated Stone: Is using Controller version, should be higher damage.
Dominator >> Gravity Control >> Singularity: Is using Controller version, should be higher damage.
Stalker >> Electric Melee >> Lightning Rod: Is using Brute version, should be highger damage.
Corruptor >> Storm Summoning >> Lightning Storm: Is using Defender version, should be higher damage.
Corruptor >> Archery >> Rain of Arrows: Is using Defender version, should be higher damage.
Defender, Corruptor >> Assault Rifle >> Ignire: Both are using Blaster version, both need to be lowered their respective amounts.
Those are only a few that come to mind that I've checked. -
There's only so many Dominators, Widows, Soldiers, Brutes, Stalkers, Corruptors, and Masterminds one can create. But I've always dreamed of a Melee/(De)Buff with a god type tier 9 except instead of defense, buffs your damage, accuracy, recharge, recovery etc.

What people who are adamant about the AT modifiers don't seem to understand is that we were told that powers that create pseudo pets (and regular pets for that matter) were not affected by said modifiers. That's why a Dominator's Fire Imps do the same amount of damage as a Controller's despite the Dominator having higher damage modifiers. But for a more related example, let's take a look at a Brute's Lightning Rod and a Stalker's Lightning Rod. Because of AT modifiers, the Stalker's should do more damage, but it doesn't because the power creates a pseudo pet, causing both ATs to do the same damage with the same power (unenhanced, unbuffed).*
Because of said mechanic, it was believed that the Defender's traps would be the same as the Corruptor's. Because Traps is composed entirely of pseudo pets. But as it turns out, that's not the case. Which means a Corruptor's Traps should be doing more than their Mastermind counterpart.
Quote:This is not true, every power in every Mastermind's secondary sets costs more endurance and does less healing/buffing/debuffing than their Corruptor counterpart.MM traps may be over performing, but keep in mind the balance came from the increased endurance costs.
*I just checked the Tanker and Scrapper versions.... the Tanker does MORE damage with Lightning Rod than a *Stalker*. Obviously they fixed the problem with pseudo pets and I expect a Dominators pets to start doing more damage based on their enhanced damage modifier than their Controller counterparts.
For reference, this is how much damage Lightning Rod does based on AT at level 50 according to the Character Creator on test.
Brute: 133.46
Stalker: 133.46
Tanker: 141.47
Scrapper: 200.20
Edit: I am willing to see this as an oversight on the Devs' parts if they up the Stalker's Lightning Rod, the Dominator pets' damage, and the Corruptor's values on traps. Otherwise, well, you know what they say about Devs and villains.
Edit 2: Mysteriously... not all pseudo pet powers being proliferated are being affected by AT modifier. I'll give an example, again at level 50:
Defender's Rain of Arrows: 97.54
Corruptor's Rain of Arrows: 98.99
Odd because it seems that they would have simply been the same damage, but it's an anemic difference that won't be noticeable. -
The hamster reminded me of a classic Little Mermaid song that was remixed.

Quote:I spent quite a bit of time enjoying the CO open beta (for shame they aren't releasing with the ability to play villains, or I would have gotten it by the end of beta) and when I went to the Training Room, I kept pressing "t" to turn on my character's super jump, and when I realized I had to click on it, I clicked and held. Ahh, the joys of coming back from a (very short) hiatus.I've been playing WoW again recently.
Now I keep trying to loot the bodies of defeated Hellions and expect to get a mission where the contact asks me to bring them the head of the enemy boss.
Actually, now that I think about it, there's a couple of redside contacts whom I really could see asking for the severed head of their enemy. Angelo Vendetti for one... -
Hmmm... good topic, now let's see:
Elite Dreadnaught: A mish mash Religious Bruiser and Church Militant, quite a bit of Action Girl, Dual Wielding, and Lady of War.
Tempest Jester: Most definitively Chaotic Evil and Mad Artist. -
Of curing my altitis. I don't (didn't) play characters with repeated powersets, I have a Fire Blast Corruptor, I could never play another fire blast character. But now, with i16, I can color fire to fit many different themes. My electric attacks can truly be chaos magic as they were meant to be, leaving me with the choice to create another electric character who use electricity for another concept. One of the things keeping my altitis in check was the keeping to unique powersets. This will no longer be the case because to me, concept > gameplay. Damn you, I say.
