    1. The character of Lt. Jameson in mission 1 - you said that this character should be male? I am just curious if whether the character is male or female makes any difference.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, it's a male name. It kinda looks like you were useing it as a last name but every Jameson I know it's their first name and they're all male.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I have to say, I have never met anyone that had Jameson as a first name, but there are many people that have it for a last name. Are you perhaps thinking of the name James? Which shortens into Jim or Jimmy or Jamey.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Technically they could all be the same name. All you have to do is remove 2 letters to turn Jameson into James.

At any rate, I do know at least one person who's name is most definiatly Jameson, and I should be seeing him shortly sence his mom is giveing me a ride to work in about 10 min. (he's a year old and his mom is an actress, currently playing the part of Patty Andrews in "Sisters of Swing" which I work back stage for.)

I am appalled! How dare you shame this game with your non-comic-geekness? Three words: John Jonah Jameson.

lol I wasn't even thinking about Spider-man. I'm use to him just being JJ.

    2. "Hero Reinforcements" (ie. Captain Amazing) runs away when rescued in mission 1 - Yes, he does run off, but this is due to him being wounded and heading to the infirmary. His dialogue when you find him says that he got hurt. The mission contact does say that "other heroes are responding" when you first speak to him and accept the mission. Captain Amazing is not intended to be an ally for the mission itself, as there is a reason for him to run off after you save him (beyond being wounded). His reasoning fits into what transpires in the 3rd mission and more importantly, the mission complete clue of mission 5. I'm curious if you read the clue or it did not make sense?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Maybe I should pay closer attention to the dialog.

Hellions and custom Lt's here and there. End is an EB. Tried to make it solo and duo friendly. My first arc so looking for feedback. Chapt 2 is out there as well so you can just look for Curse Foretold and it will get both of em.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm working on this one. I got to the point where I ran out of Patrol XP, got debt, and decided it was time to log off for the night.

Need more variety in the powers for the Hellions Changed. When they're all Lt.s useing Flaming Aura they do crazy amounts of DMG. The main guy at the end of the mission was actully alot easier to kill because of this. Allso verry borring to kill the same guy repeatedly which is why I sugested adding more of a varity of guys into the group rather than just toneing them down. Maybe do both, not sure. I think the only reason they were so hard is because of stacking 3 or more Fire Auras.

    Creator Global/Forum Name: @Jade-Star
    Difficulty Level: Medium

Synopsis: During a Rikti assault on Paragon City, a legendary hero goes missing. You must team up with Turbo Starr and unravel a mystery that may have deadly ramifications for Paragon City!

I'd appreciate feedback on this arc. I want to make sure the clues and dialogue are understandable, so any comments on maps/story parts is appreciated!

When you play it, pay close attention to the clues and character dialogue, as well as what transpires throughout the story. It is intended as a prologue to a much larger story that will be continued in future arcs.

I hope you will find it fun. It has a little bit of everything, and not everything is what it seems

Feedback is appreciated and feel free to PM me with questions or comments.

    Thanks!

When you say the minions are overpowered, what do you mean? It might be that you're being debuffed by the actual Lieutenants, it's a lot easier if you kill them first. I've found the minions to be almost too easy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

When I first came into the mission there were ONLY Minions at the door. I didn't see any Lt. till I got further into it. What I mean by them being over powered is that the minions at the front of the mission seemed to be just as hard to kill as the Lt.s in the back. The Lt.s seem fine to me, just like any standard Lt. just the minions seemed more powerfull like they should be Lt.s allso.

    [ QUOTE ]
What do you mean bugged..? I'll change as needed if I know what I have to change.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't think it's anything you did. This isn't the first time I've noticed this problem with defeat all missions. Some mob ends up either not spawning or spawns off the map where they're unreachable and the mission never ends despite haveing an empty map.
  6. I'm going to say this one more time as clearly as possible...

    [ QUOTE ]
Exactly. It could happen. Produce your degree in game design and programming and then prove that you work for Paragon Studios and I'll agree with you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    That's irrelivant.

    [ QUOTE ]
    However, that ISN'T "common knowledge".

    [/ QUOTE ]

Is common knowlage to anyone that is currently playing the game. Everything I said was based apon the current game mechanics.

    [ QUOTE ]
For all we know we MIGHT be able to have a sniper rifle for the snipe attack and not for the others. Nobody knows yet,

    [/ QUOTE ]

We do know that is not possible. Where have you been? Weapon Customization came out like 4 updates ago.

I'm not saying they can't change the current system all I'm saying is we don't know they're going to and it's quite a stretch to belive they would. Hence here it is again, EVERYTHING I SAID IS BASED ON COMMON KNOWLAGE OF THE CURRENT GAME MECHANICS.

    [ QUOTE ]
and I for one am looking forward to the expanded info we were promised next month. Who knows what might be in there? Nobody but Paragon Studio employees. So in the mean time I'm more than happy to enjoy the thought of having my blue-fired Will-O-Wisp dominator and if power customization turns out to be even more elaborate then whoopie. If not, then who cares? I can still have blue fire. Quit over-stepping your bounds.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And again, I never said anything that only Paragon Studios employees should know, only what everyone who plays the current game should know.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
... you guys make me nervous. But after extensively testing it myself, I've finally decided to post this arc which I've been working on for quite awhile now.

    Arc Name:Pest Control
    Arc ID: 220938
    Faction: Villainous
    Recommended Level: 35-50
    Playtime: 120+ minutes

There is an AV at the end, which I suspect might be the low point of the Arc if she is fought as an AV. I haven't fought her as an AV yet, but I suspect she'll be extremely hard if not impossible. She's difficult but doable as an EB in my experience. Feedback on this in particular would be great.

    [/ QUOTE ]

First mission: Maybe this was intential but there were no Arachnoids in the first mission as the title sugested.

The minions seem rather over powered. They should be easier to kill than the Lt.s but I feel like they're all Lt.s.

Second Mission appears to be buged. I've noticed this in alot of Delete all missions.

I think Power Customization will only be the ability to change the color of powers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Fix'd. You don't know for a fact so stop stating it as a fact. Likely as that point of view may be, unless you work for Paragon you have no way of being certain.

We'll have more info next month so just suck it up and wait. We'll see how it pans out then.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Actually, his entire post was stated as if he knew for a fact things about PC that no one outside of Paragon Studios can actually know. Your criticism should be leveled at that entire post, not just the line you selected.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I only stated what everyone should allready know because it was all based on facts that allready exsist within the game.

Someone talked about being able to customize individual powers. Well can you have a sniper rifle ONLY for your snipe attack and use a different riffle for all your other powers? No you can't.

They allso asked about changeing the animation of powers. So far the only way you can do that is by the fly pose emotes so it's most likely that's the only way to change any power animations.

Now by proscess of elimination what else is left to customize? Color.

So I never really said anything that wasn't public knowlage.
  9. Why would we be given the ability to change powers individually?

It would be for the entire power set and resricted to a costume slot just like weapon customization.

As for changing animations, the only way to do that is to put in emotes for the new animations as with the fly pose emotes.

Power Customization will only be the ability to change the color of powers.

I said that it would release simultaneously, not after. Not in so many words given, but that's regardless.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry, I never said you did but I reread my post and realized I unintentionally implyed that you did.

My post was segmented into 3 parts and only the second part was directed spicifically at you. The 3rd part to it wasn't really directed at either of you but was just added for the general readers who weren't around for the launch of CoV and therefore aren't sure how exspansions work in relation to the regular updates, allthough I didn't really make that clear. Sorry for the confusion and I've changed my previous post.

I know the DEVS are not going to give us a release date but can they tell us the order of items coming out? Is i16 next or will it be Rogue?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sources point to: "They're the same thing"

i.e. Going Rogue will be released as the expansion for purchase of the full game with Praetoria and side-switching abilities and all the nifty stuff, and when it's release i16 will go live to give people access to all of the stuff that the playerbase at large needs for the game to continue functioning, like the new powersets that people will be running around with, the ability to process rogue characters in new settings, any new missions that take place on primal earth, that sort of stuff. You'll have to buy Going Rogue to take advantage of everything, but i16 will have some nice goodies for everyone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

First quote, the next update is I15 and it will be out LONG before going Rouge allthough I personally don't see anything of interest with the I15.

Second Quote, what sources? I thought that was just random speculation?

Not spicifically directed at anyone inparticular, I think it's possible I16 will be out before Going Rouge but definatly not after. CoV launched simultaniously with one of the Updates to the game and Going Rouge will do the same thing but I don't know for sure that I16 will be the Going Rouge update.

They were designed as last-chance military weapons to be used when your enemy charges at you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, that would be the bayonet (spelling) that you're describing there. It's a blade about the size of a knife that attaches to the end of a riffle.

    -=edit=-

I didn't read ahead before I posted but it seems psdguy has confirmed this for me.

Depending on the gun and the shooter the range will verry but under no sercumstances is a loaded gun ever a melee weapon.

Guns no matter what are designed to SHOOT targets from a DISTANCE. Any gun that has to be brought into melee range to use shouldn't even be manufactured because that completly defeats the purpos of haveing a gun in the first place.

You shouldn't need to look this up to know this, it's common sence. Guns are ranged weapons, it's that simple.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I know. There is no place for humor in a MMORPG based on super heroes genre from the comic book.

I have never seen comedy in comic books, ever.

I guess getting bullets shot at your feet is kind of funny - until it's done to you.

Oh, I guess you've been hit in the face with a pistol barrel and found it to be a complete laugh as well.

    Satire, comedy, serious medicine?

Stand back and take a look. You might just see what what want to see even if your eyes are open. Judgment clouded by preconception. The world is what we make it more often than we might think.

    [/ QUOTE ]

OK let me rephraise, That sugestion is built entirely to make fun of people who sugested Pistols as a Melee set. Hence my comment about it's not a real sugestion. Geared twards humor was refering to the fact it's makeing fun of anyone who thinks that is a real sugestion not that the sugestion in itself was funny.

  15. [ QUOTE ]
You need to take into account that pistols and rifles are two very different types of weapons:

Rifles have long barrels and use large charges of powder in their cartridges. Because of the greater power behind the bullet and more spin imparted by the long barrel, a rifle can be accurate up to a kilometer +

Pistols have short barrels and use heavier bullets with less powder in the cartridge. eyesight and targeting equipment can not overcome gravity. For all intents and purposes, a pistol is basically a melee weapon because it is only effective at close range.

    Look it up

    [/ QUOTE ]

That was taken into account but even still, Pistols are NOT Melee weapons.

You're post here is only half correct. Yes a riffle is more accurate than a pistol for all the reasons you listed but that does not by any means make it a melee weapon.

You can technically THROW a sword and there have been several comic book characters who have done exactly that but a sword is not a ranged weapon. Swords were not designed with the intent of throwing them. If you did so you'd be unarmed untill a time when you could retrieve your sword from wherever it landed so it would be verry stupid to throw a sword no matter how cool it allways looks when they do it in movies.

Same with pistols, they're designed for RANGE. Yeah you could shot from melee range but why have a gun if you're not going to use it's full range.

BTW Melee is game code for "POINT BLANK" range which for someone with a gun it only works to be standing that close if you can sneak up behind your target, (or anywhere for a Stalker) or if they're tied up and can't move otherwise all they have to do is take the gun from your hand.

Swords are great melee weapons with verry limited use at a range. Pistols are RANGED weapons with verry limited Melee use.

Maybe I missunderstood (sic) something in the last 2 posts...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    This.

Although we are incorrectly using range synonymously with accuracy. I think BigFish's point is that the range given for pistols in the Thugs MM powerset is unrealistic in that they wouldn't be terribly accurate at maximum ranges. My assertion is that characters, even powerless ones, do all kinds of wildly improbable things in comic books. Neither BigFish nor myself were suggesting that ranged weapons don't have range and it's kind of a stretch to get that out of what was written.

    Attache

    [/ QUOTE ]

My thinking was back a few pages ago when someone sugested Pistols as a Melee powerset.

I get what you're saying about accuracy but that would be true for ALL ranged weapons not just pistols. However accuracy would change varring on how good the shooter's eye sight is, what kind of targeting equipment is attached to their spicific weapon, and so on.

The lasers with eye sights pistols would be far more accurate than the standard models in real life but in game the styal of pistol you're useing doesn't change a damn thing.

Personally I think the styal would be more inaccurate than distance issues.
  17. What are you talking about now?

Maybe I missunderstood something in the last 2 posts but the basic gist of it seemed to be that it's unrealistic for ranged weapons to have range?

So what, the bullets just drop mid air if they don't hit anything in melee range in whatever world you live in?
  18. [ QUOTE ]
For it to ring at a different price, it has to have a different UPC. For it to have a different UPC, it has to be a different item. What you will most frequently see at the front of a store are promotional/feature-laden versions of movies, while the less expensive, non-exclusive, feature-lite versions are kept with the bulk of the movies.

If the two things rang at different prices, they were not the same item. There's no magic tag that registers can use to tell what part of a store the same exact item came from.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They were the same item. Yes DvDs do tend to come out in different versions, some with more special features than others. This was not the case in that it was just two different versions of the same movie why do you think I went through so much trouple to enthisize that they were the same item?

As for the "magic tag" that tells what part of the store they came from, yes it is possible the same way they mark down items from their original price. What do you think thoughs price guns are for that they carrey around the store, they place new UPC stickers over the original ones.

All they would have to do is place a different UPC sticker on sertain DvD copies and then leave the rest of them with the standard price tags.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Now, we fast forward nearly a year later, when GvE came out. This was when they 'bundled' both games in one box, and also announced that you no longer needed to by 'both sides' but that only one game was needed, INCLUDING the original CoH or CoV releases. Any boxed Co* game gave you full access after this point.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope, this did not happen at the same time. GvE came out in stores LONG before the change so that you only needed one of the games to play both.

At the time GvE came out it was a special deal that allowed you to buy both games togeather for the price of one. This would give you both CoH and CoV without buying them sepreately because they were both sold in a box set not because the game was changed so you didn't have to.

At the time GvE first came out people who only had CoH would still only be able to play CoH and people who ONLY had CoV would still ONLY be able to play CoV. I'm preddy sure GvE came out only 2 or 3 months after CoV.

It was only some time within the last couple years that they announced anyone who still had not paid for both games could now have one for free.

To put it simply anyone who bought GvE still technically paid to play both games they just didn't buy them seperatly because they got the box set.

Anyone who had CoH at the time if they never bought CoV or the GvE could not play the villain side because they only had heroes.

For me, I had CoH allready and bought CoV when it first came out. I got my brother playing a couple months later when GvE first came out and to save him some money I got him to buy the GvE eddition rather than buying them seperatly like I did. He still bought both games, at a cheaper price but he did buy them.

Now if he started playing today and didn't even pay for one of the games, that's a little different than buying them both togeather.

Here's a comparison for ya. I'll use the Star Wars movies. You buy all 6 of the movies seperatly and probly spend about $20 per DvD. You find out later that a friend bought the box sets and got all 6 movies for $30. Then later both of you find other people who hadn't paid for all the movies were now being sent copies of all the movies they didn't allready own.

If you buy the movies seperatly you're not only spending money on the movies themselfs but allso on Gas to get to and from the store.

You buy the boxed sets, again, that's money out of your pocket to buy all 6 movies.

The last one, they wouldn't even need to go to the store to get the other 5 movies, they'd just have them without needing to do anything.

That's basically what they did with the game. All of the sudden everyone just had both games weather or not they actully took the time to go to the store, buy both games, and download both games.

It's not even just money for the games but the time you spent upgradeing your account sence anyone who only had one version when they did that would not have to do anything or spend any extra money to get the other game, just log on as normal and hey look at that there it is, a game I never bought or loaded.

It's basically rewarding people for doing absolutly nothing.

Hell some of the special stuff that comes with special boxed sets are now becomming Veteran rewards like the Arachnos Helmets. Anyone who allready had the helmets would then get nothing for their vet reward and will of paid for the helmets they could of got for free. Pluse spending the time to upgrade their account for each helmet. (as I recall the helmets were originally store exsclusives that would require you to buy 4 different pre order CoV games from 4 different stores to get all 4 helmets. which I never did and I'm glad for it.)
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Sorry but after 4 years (approx) the expansion was not likely going to sell. I actually saw CoV at Big Lots for $5 recently. It's depreciation. I see your point but the real world does not work the way you would suggest.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actully it's supose to. There are faulse advertisement laws to prevent things like this from happening however I don't think they've ever been enforced.

If you say something just to sell a product and it's not true that's fause advertiseing and it is illegal.

Of course they could get around that law by saying that at the time what they said WAS true and that they hadn't intended to change that. This is what's known as a legal loop hole.

At any rate please tell me that CoH is on sale for $5 allso because of the fact you only need one of them to play both someone could buy that $5 CoV and still be able to play the game without getting CoH but if someone doesn't know that they could end up buying CoH insted not realizeing they're both exactly the same now.

That's another thing that bugs me, at my Wall-Mart there's useually a display stand in the front of the store with new movies on it, thoughs same movies are sold in the back of the store but for a cheaper price.

Yet another loop hole they can claim that you're paying for convienence which is how they sell bottled water. But is it really that much more convient to buy a DvD in the front of the store than in the back of the same store? I mean that just doesn't make any sence to me. I don't see any reason why anyone would buy the DvDs from there unless they came in spicifically for that movie and nothing else and I doubt that happens too offten.

What I think is that it's just a trap because that display stand is easier to see what movies are avalible off it before you get to the back of the store and once you have the DvD you want in hand you're not going to bother to look for it in the back.

I probly bought about 8 movies from that display stand before I noticed there was a price difference between there and the same movies in the back of the store. And the way I found out was that my dad some times goes a different direction when we first come in going to cloths first then to electronics while I went straight to electronics and we both grabed the same movie but I grabed from the display he grabed from the shelfs in the back and the one he grabed was about $10 cheaper.

I even asked the casheer about this and she gave me that convience crap, I allways head to the back of the store now.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Didn't they give the other game for free like 4 years later? Or almost 4 years? I really doubt you would have waited that long. Give me a break. You could have bought the other version for $10 when NCS gave you the other side for free. I call BS.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I really don't remember how long it was but it doesn't really matter. Either it should of been this way from the start meaning it would of been an free update insted of a paid expansion or it should still be the same as when CoV first came out, requireing both CoH and CoV to play both CoH and CoV.

Technically it could probly be considered faulse advertiseing because they told us it was required to buy the expansion in order to play it then they changed that so that now you didn't have to buy it.

Basically they made us belive that we needed to buy something that was going to be free. It's about as bad as bottled water companies but worse. At least with water you know you can get it for free before you buy it.

Hello, I beta tested COV but have not tried any of the expansions before.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There were no expansions before CoV, so it would be impossible for you to have done so. Kinda hard to try expansions that don't exsist.

    [ QUOTE ]
I did not create a second copy of COH. before I started the test proceedings...I, know, have to d/l a new copy of COH to play the normal game...correct?

    Cenobyte

    [/ QUOTE ]

You don't need to download a second copy of CoH all you needed to do was upgrade your exsisting account if you had one if not then you could still play the game without CoH but you would of only had access to the villain side of the game however that was recently changed (big kick in the butt to anyone who bought both versions to play both versions before this) so now you only need one version of the game to play both sides.

Speaking of which if they're going to do that again I want to know ahead of time because I'm not going to buy the going rogue expansion if they're going to pull that again, I'll just wait till I can side switch for free. If they're actully going to require you to buy it and CONTINUE to inforce that you need to buy the exspansion to play the expansion then I'll spend the money on it.

That pissed me off when CoH and CoV became avalible to everyone who didn't spend the money to buy both games seperately. (Good vs Evil edition exscluded from this. I'm only refering to accounts who ONLY have CoH or ONLY have CoV but can still play both.) I feel like I waisted money on a game I could of got for free at a later date and I would of waited for that later date had I known it was going to happen.

Also, the introduction of the dude with the dual pistols makes me think maybe we'll be getting a dual pistol scrapper like a few people asked for a long, LONG time ago in the forums.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Scrappers are strictly Melee characters, what are you planning on doing with a Dual Weild Scrapper, hitting people with your guns?

It's more likely that Dual Weild would be avalible for Blasters and Corrupters as a Primary Powerset and maybe Defenders as a Secondary.
  24. Currently in MA there is a selectible NPC group known as "Pets" which includes ALL of the Mastermind pets and for some reason a few random other NPCs who I feel shouldn't even be in that group.

On a side note I do feel that each Pet group should be seperated into it's own catigory. Necromancy, Robotics, Mercinary, Ninja, and Thugs. By seperating them it would allow a few more options for mission creator.

I myself have 5 different Masterminds and I kinda want to have their spicific missions filled with just their own pets not their pets and everyone else as well.

For some of my masterminds I could actully take away their ability to summon pets entirely and give them more powers that would still suit their character like replaceing Necromancy with Dark Blast on my Zombie/Dark Mastermind. I mean does he really need to summon Zombies if I can just fill his mission with zombies.

Other masterminds like Robotics and Thugs I would have to choose that power set so I could still have the same weapon but Mercinary and Ninjas is easily replaceable with Assault Riffle and Archery respectively.

Suposidly we'll be getting a dual pistols power set in the future and then it's just the Pulse rifle that won't be avalible without pets but in the mission creator I don't see the need to give every Archvillain I have their pet summoning abilitys if I could just have their missions filled with their spicific pets.

I was running through one of my story archs today, the second Mission has a group of Thugs attacking Portal Corp. and then an Archvillain come in who is a Thug/Poison Mastermind (actully should be Poison wasn't avalible at the time I made it so she has Pain Domination and I just haven't fixed it yet.) and I was thinking while I was doing that mission that I'd like to actully have it filled with her Thug Pets rather than the Hellions.

If this was done I would update alot of my missions to include the pets rather than the other NPC groups I used to replace them.

i wonder if the new universial enhament slots are different than normal, i mean can they take any io/enh ? so i can add a needed 4th set item for a set bonus, or will it be only special universial enhanments?

They will be different than normal, I'm sure. They will apply their effects to the character as a whole, somewhat like a set bonus, rather than to a particular individual power.

Quite a long time ago I made a related suggestion, that being that you could have special slots that would apply a secondary effect or damage type to your attacks. So, for example, you could have a Broadsword scrapper with a flaming blade, and the damage for all attacks would change from lethal to lethal/fire and maybe gain a small amount of DoT. I've no idea if this will be possible with these Universal Enhancements, of course, but I'm enjoying contemplating the possibilities.

You know, that's not a bad idea. It would be interesting to have enhancements that either went to protecting agenst or giveing you a sertain DMG type that you wouldn't normally have on your spicific character. However I don't think it would be possible.

I think the deves have allready said and I'm not sure why, but I read somewere that they can't add any auras to weapons without the weapon itself comming with the aura in the first place. What I mean is like the Warshade sword and sheild have that aura built into them rather than haveing to select it from the Auras menu and add it to your weapon.

At any rate, I'm kinda hopeing at some point in the future they can make a way to change your enhancements around without changeing all your powers.

There have been a few times when I've liked all my powers but not the way they were slotted and ended up useing respecs just to move enhancment slots around. I've actully done this with my Materminds sence I planed out all their powers from 1-50 before I even made them.
