Can't go wrong with a Toshiba.
Just an FYI, Tosiiba's require only Kingston memory you cannot use any other type. Also, download the tech user guide manual and turn off the feature called "zooming utility". It will make your life miserable.
Toshiba's are the best computers for the money once you turn that off.
This is a good computer, the video doesn't make a huge difference in this game. I have another laptop computer or "mobile workstation", an HP 8740w. I paid 20k for it. It has a 2GB nvidia Quadro video and 32GB of RAM. With CoH, I still have all the same problems I had on my $298 emachines laptop. $699 is a good balance. Ultramode is marketing in my humble opinion but you'll get it with this. -

When do EU players come online? Peak times are evenings, weekends, holiday periods and also during in-game events such as DXP. You won't see many of us around otherwise because... there just aren't many of us. Hope that answers your questions.

The last OFFICIAL player meet (held in 2008 at the Omega Sektor which is now closed down) only drew around 300 people tops over the (4 day) weekend, and not all of them were english... there were also regular customers of the venue as well that get included into the figure.
Hell, of course we could do just nothing and have NO events at all, full stop... especially as the Brighton office is now not game orientated, and instead marketing/sales based.
Unlike you guys in the US where you DO have several events a year where you can go and meet the dev's... even community staff... we have nothing to look forward to, even though there is an NCsoft office in the UK.
If anything, just view this as an "open" Server meet... but with an EU slant. (Although which server of Union and Defiant would it be? Hard to say as we have people from BOTH sides going)
And please dont belittle us. Yes, we *know* that the venue is small, but seeing as *most* venues as well that *I* looked at required a £500 deposit, before we could even *book* the venue for the weekend; its something that we (the organisers) just cannot afford right now, and we didnt want to force people to pay up NOW (waaaay waaay in advance) for it either.
The event is open to all. Hell, you are welcome over and join us. The more the merrier I say.
I appreciate you taking the time to comment about the EU.
First, let me answer a few of your questions. Residentx10 and Resident_EU are the same person. Some times I'm in the Uk too...it depends on the EPL play :-)
Second, I don't really care about the EU whether it's small or large. I can tell when I play but other than that I could care less. I joined the EU servers to get different play, it's been frustrating but I'm think I'll get over the hump in mid march.
Third, I didn't realize the EU was left alone. When I play I noticed you guys get cossie codes(which we don't get in the NA) so I thought everything was in order/balanced.
Forth, cybercafe's have never really taken off here in the US except in the large cities. I don't mean to sound like I'm negative but I was mainly curious about the event. The EU is big place, so when I saw the notice I wondered how you could all fit in a cybercafe. Also, do most users in the EU visit a cybercafe to play CoH? This would answer another question I've wondered about since I joined. When does everyone come online? I saw a lot during double xp weekend but I have not seen many since then. -

Bigger venues would be far to much outside of budget with all the other costs rolled in (e.g. Hotel costs for the weekend, Travel costs and the cost of eatting out) People can't afford to spend alot at the moment with the economic crysis. That is one of the reasons why not many of our mainland Europe friends are attending this year. Remember they wouldn't just be hopping the state border they would be coming from another country.

I run coh NA and EU from 3 different computers. Can you talk more about the authorization? Will this apply to EU accounts too?
Edit. I don't think this is a big deal. I get one-time auth that allows me to add the computer. -

Contact Ncsoft by the helpdesk or by phone. Phone will get things resolved really quick. I didn't have problems this time buying but I have had them in the past. I was told by a tech once that if you buy from different locations that will flag the account.

1. I bought the animal pack. I looked at some of it but is there an animation to "morph" from one costume to another?
2. How are you guys getting front shots of your alts in the photos? I know some are from the character creator. -

The third build is for whatever you wanna do with it, honestly. It was given to all players to allow for an alternative, non-Incarnate-dependent build without screwing up a player's already existing two builds, but it doesn't mean you HAVE to use that build when you SK down.
When I SK down, I just use my primary build that has the Alpha slot. It doesn't work, but I'm used to how the power management goes with that build, so it's easy for me to adjust. 'sides, I don't have the funds to work up another purp build.
With IOs, I know the bonus works still but I'm not sure about the powers.
With Enhancements, I know they will be useless at the lower level. -

You only have one slot, the Alpha Slot. The cooldown is for how often you can change what is in it. What it *does* is add Enhancement to all your powers.
For example, if you slot the bottom-most ability in the red tree, Musculature Boost, that gives you 33% Damage, 1/6 of which ignores ED. In other words, all your powers that can slot Damage get an additional 27.5% Damage on top of what you have slotted in them, ED is applied, and then they all get a 5.5% Damage boost on top of that. This bonus will persist as long as you have the Musculature Boost slotted.
As you go higher up in the tree, you'll find abilities that enhance more than one aspect of your powers at a time, and ignore ED to a higher degree. So your best bet is to see which Enhancement will benefit you the most, and try to craft one of the topmost abilities from that tree. If you just want the Level Shift, craft at least one Rare (the ones in the middle row that has four slots), slot that, and you're good. -

Our two runs were 56 mins and 49 mins, I think? A few of us did another two runs tonight, and I slept thru the last one... woke up to Tax from J-Force walking around me in RWZ...
The two runs were riddled with bad luck. One player quit accidentally, another had nasty instability, we got bugged on the Rider mish, forcing a team rebuild... -

That is the construction page. Think of it like an IO. The page you are looking at shows you the recipe. If you crafted all 9 you still get zero benefit until you equip one. If the one you have equipped gives a level shift, you will be shifted. You can only have 1 alpha equipped at a time, so only a +1 shift.
Crafting any more than 1 just gives you options (although two of the rare and needed as ingredients for the very rare). -
Ancillary PP and Patron Powers we can change, right? You are probably right. I feel better. I made some bad choices during I19. I experimented and some of the powers I selected were horrible.
