Patch Notes: The Rikti invasion failed to completely eradicate Paragon City. This has been corrected.
Also I think the game needs a "flourish" emote for pistols users so we can just stand around twirling our pistols forever. -
We almost had that prismatic pansy on the first go, but the problem was we didn't farm enough Ambrosia. Hell I didn't have any when we entered the Titan's chamber, and most people had one max.
Oh well, if it went off without a hitch it'd be boring!
Also that frickin' rainbow footstomp. Man, Fightin' the Titan is a rainbow of pain. -
I'll buy that. Then again it might hurt alting... Then again it would probably be too much of a hassle to constantly change one's AT, so it would be perfect for people like me who want to occasionally play an AT that they can't stand to level. Or maybe OH HELL I DUNNO I'M THINKING ABOUT IT TOO MUCH
So let's think about something else. IMAGINE IF YOU WILL, City of Heroes if Jack Emmert was still in charge.
Imagine looking for a group because that -3 mission full of Hellions is way too much for you to solo. You're a Scrapper, not Statesman.
For years you've asked for Shield Defense, and finally the dev team has.... not given it to you. Because it's impossible with the current technology. The year is 2043.
Several buffs are announced for.... Statesman. Players can go piss up a tree.
Several new costume pieces have been announced for players who prepurchased Star Trek Online.
What do you want to solo things for? That's not fun. I know fun. I make video games. You don't need to solo things to have fun. Shut up and join a team. NO I'LL KICK YOUR ***.
A set of alternate animations has been scrapped as it was revealed that players already have access to a high number of perfectly good animations already.
It turns out that enhancements actually allowed players to become stronger than intended. Enhancements have been removed.
Scrappers have been removed.
Blasters have had their range reduced as it was proving to be an unfair advantage against melee-centric mobs.
All villain groups now have access to Mask of Vitiation and also now it causes your character to just straight up drop dead.
Someone commented on how capes were pretty neat looking, so we've adjusted them accordingly. By adjusted I mean removed.
The population of the Freedom server exceeded expected parameters. All players on the Freedom server have been banned. -
Sounds like you had a Longbow Commissar spawn.

Respecs as they currently stand make no sense and fill me with rage. I'm talking about respec trials here.
"So Above Average Man, tell us about your trip into the Terra Volta Reactor."
"Well it was full of Rikti, but we beat them all up, so, yeah."
"And do you think the radiation has had any strange effects on your powers?"
"Oh, you know come to think of it, I started to feel a bit weird when I was talking to my friend Jack Wolfe the other day. We were having this conversation about powersets and slotting when I got really dizzy. Later on, I was taking down some Devouring Earth and like... Well I use a gun to fight, so I realized that my flamethrower wasn't working properly. But that's okay because now I can fire shotgun shells and grenades!"
"...So your gun mutated?"
"Yeah. Weird, huh? Oh, and I forgot how to be intimidating, but I did suddenly know how to use a high tech medical device. Weird city, huh?"
Yeah so anyway I think respecs should allow us to totally repick our powersets and not just rearrange powers. -
I came for the superheroes.
I stayed for the bikini_1 -
Generally, you should start using regular IOs when you hit 32. Regular meaning the ones that just enhance one aspect of your powers. You'll find those under the "other" tab in "recipes" on the market.
Craft level 35 IOs and slot them. They're better than SOs of the same level and you won't need to buy more since they don't expire as you level up.
When you hit 47/50, you can start on sets.
The exception to this rule comes for certain high-priced set IOs, such as the Luck of the Gambler (LotG) set IO that gives you a global bonus to your recharge. The earliest you can slot that is level 22, because the recipe exists from level 25 to 50. Of course, since it generally goes for 100-150 million influence, you might wanna just save up your reward merits and buy it on the market.
The reason it's a good idea to slot these IOs earlier is because if you exemplar/malefactor down, the bonus won't wear off unless your level dips below 3 levels of the IO. So if you have a level 25 LotG +Recharge, it'll be good anywhere from level 22-50. -
Last time I tried to stream things directly from my brain I ended up in the hospital and needed a lot of different transfusions.
I was in a mission a little while ago and I heard a Longbow Eagle say to a Mu Guardian, "Stop floating and fight like a man!" -
And then what? Keep them in a cell forever so 1) Washington can't rat you out for helping the Resistance, or 2) Cleopatra can't convince Marauder to set her free to she can try to kill you again?

You know, I'm going to go ahead and agree with you on some of these points. While I don't feel the overall art style of City of Heroes would mesh terribly well with the exaggerated bulkiness of the style you're describing (used by games that want to convey a sense of big badassedness, like Unreal Tournament), I think CoH could stand to use a little more bigness.
One thing I don't like is the way the character models scale when their size is increased. Hands and heads remain mostly the same, the rest of the body however balloons out to a degree that is, at least in my opinion, aesthetically hilarious. And also pretty ugly.
Now it's 5 AM and I haven't slept so none of this post is going to make any sense but here we go anyway, I would love it if "huge" meant "huge" and not "hormone problem." If you take a male bodytype and increase the body mass slider it looks terrible. Really terrible. I haven't actually seen anyone take the slider that far unless they're trying to intentionally make a bulbous monstrosity.
I've also always wanted to see CoH convey a difference in character sizes. While it's hilarious that a 4 foot female swings an axe with exactly the same amount of force as a seven foot gorilla, it also kind of.... well I'll just say "sucks" that their brawl also hits with the same kind of wimpy impact I'd expect from an angry child. And trust me, I know a lot about fighting children. Unfortunately the only real solution to this problem involves a ton of work for poor BAB.
Now here's the problem. The game you're describing, Darksiders, is an obvious parody of the overly-machismo and uses this nexaggerated style to help convey that. The art style of City of Heroes tries for the most part to retain a serious air. What you're describing might feel more at home in Champions Online, whose art style is purposefully cartoonish and things that are really big don't stand out as being stupid-looking. Because everything is stupid-looking. Champions Online sucks.
That said, I think it could work. Things that are impossibly big and unwieldy are a staple of superhero... stuff. -
Well this can totally be a step in the right direction.
Anyway I was wondering, is it possible to decline the 30-40 Hero Morality Mission so that Longbow DOES kill Dr. Quantum and we don't have to worry about the finheadded nancy boy anymore? -
You make a post about bigness and then worry about things being too big?
-
Quote:You clearly don't understand fun.You hunt greys and rely on a 6-minute, 24-second activation power to do it? Don't you have, like... AoEs? I suppose you could have brought in a level 50 Corruptor, but on the high chance that this is a Blaster, it seems like a rather poor way to hunt stuff, like taking a Regen Scrapper and using Self Destruct and Revive.
Although I could be wrong, given that your suggestion sounds like a lot of it.
In fact, brb -
Just missed with fearsome frickin' stare. What was that Rikti not paying attention?
-
Oh oh oh, I just thought of something that would be wicked sick.
Okay, now back when leaked screenshots of the Incarnate system were all the rage, I saw a screenshot where one of the incarnate slots would basically allow you to summon up a couple allies.
Now this is awesome, but the way I see it, it could be more awesome. How could it be more awesome? Custom allies. As in you design their looks yourself using the character creator. Yessir.
Powersets would be a different story, though. Just to avoid having really overpowered allies, you can only give them powersets used by existing villains. And not Kadabra Kill. Like you could summon up a bunch of paramilitary dudes that just happen to use Council/5th Column rifles or call in some weird ninja guys who just happen to act like Tsoo.
It'd be just like having your very own villain group!
Welp, back to idling on this Task F--... oh. Nevermind, I'm doing tip missions. -
I'm guessing that Heavy Troopers are supposed to look slightly different than they do now, such as having rocket pods on their shoulders and stuff.
I'm glad they don't though because if I see one more NPC that looks cooler than I ever could then I am going to weep tears of blood, then bottle those tears and mail them to the CoH art department, and they're gonna be like "what is this gatorade?" and then they'll open the bottle (or bottles) and be like "oh god, it smells coppery, is this...?" but they won't be able to finish their sentence because all of my sorrow and anguish will erupt from the bottles and melt them all Ark of the Covenant-style and when the Janitor arrives he'll probably quit on the spot after he's done vomiting, and then CoH won't have an art department and they'll have to kidnap one from a different game and it's likely they'll get CO's art team and then all future art stuff is gonna look stupid and have horse-faces. -
Do you eat Breakfast?
Loyalist: Consume the most important meal of the day and praise Emperor Cole for such delicious eggs.
Resistance: Bomb a hospital. -
If I could have everything be made of energy, and shoot energy, I would be very happy.
I would also be happy if the game would stop randomly deciding to fail at loading and force my connection to time out so that I have to quit to desktop and contact customer service to have my character ported to a zone where I can once again play them, but I assume they're working on the problem so I'll just keep thinking about Energy Weapon Assault. -
If by "make more sense" you mean "get a Yo-yo Assault powerset" then yeah, it would make a great deal more sense.
Speaking of powersets though I think they should give AR the same versatility that pistols has.
Like AR should totally get an AP round that does moderate damage on its own, but gains a damage boost based on the amount of lethal resistance the target has. That would be pretty awesome.
Also, Vanguard pistols. I think I said that before, possibly twice, but Vanguard pistols. -
Either a peerless marksman or a danger to himself and society.
Also, just thought I'd throw out the fact that if the CoH store had the option of letting us purchase a random costume code for $2 I wouldn't have any money left in my bank account. -
Eye lasers should really be autohit.
Unless you're crosseyed.
And if you have a lazy eye it should be an AoE.
And if you have ADD it should just hit a random target/bird/penny on the ground. -
Awh, everyone who posts in this thread is awesome except those two guys from earlier who I hate now <3
Say, does anyone else find the phrase "snap your fingers" painful to think about? -
-
You know what, I think that Traps/Devices dudes made in Praetoria should have custom doohickeys that reflect the shiny, smooth, polished nature of Praetorian technology.
And their T9 should deploy a War Walker.
And before you guys ask, yes I am on a Sister Psyche.
