If everything had gone to plan the "new updater" should have been downloaded automaticly and replaced your old one. There was nothing you had to manually do.

Because you've changed the updater you may have to allow it access on your firewall program. That might be stopping the connect.

If it's not that, then contact support. They'll be quick today as it's a high priority known issue.

I've just Team viewed a couple of friends as they were having problems. Renaming the updater to .exe is what causes the updater to stick at connecting.

Also noticed that Vista 64bit allows the download to desktop without issue yet 32bit didn't. Seems there's a more than one problem.

I'm on Vista and my updater updated fine. I've not had to change anything.


If after following both "fixes" you still can't get it working, go to your CoH folder location then delete every copy of the updater (EU, US .prv etc) as well as the CityofHeroes.exe.

Then download a new Updater from Here (This is the EU version) Save it to desktop then run it. Point it to your current CoH folder and let it do it's thing.

That should then be back to normal.

Yeah the power picks are fine. Can't really go wrong with a PD build as a lot of it is personal preference.

Unless of course you build one without Soothing Aura, then you've gone really wrong.

Speculation here but... An updater update could mean a EU/US server list merge.

There was something mentioned a while back that they would have to change the updater to allow that to happen.

If it was the thermal paste, it's easy enough to fix. You just need some new thermal paste, a cold system and something like cotton buds to remove any old paste remaining.

Was the computer a self build or a store bought one?

The reason i ask is that you said your processor starts off at 72 C which is pretty darn high. Leads me to think it's missing the correct amount of thermal paste between processor and heat sink.

If it was due to the fan not working i'd expect the CPU to be almost instantly 100 C and auto shut down to stop damage to the chip, rather than a gradual increase.

I've had 3 patrons on mine at some point. Leviathan was handy for hiber so i could have Leadership instead of Concealment, obviously Soul for PB and Soul storm (which was pretty lolzy at times) And i'm currently running mace for web.

All 3 have helped at some point but i do prefer having Mace (without FA) as i smile a little bit more every time someone rages because they're grounded. It's also a really effective way to escape if you're quick.

I would normally pick up perception without a second thought but because i'm stubborn, the build is tight and i can't fit it in. Plus, it's not essential if you are truly only playing the buffing role.

You know you're going be the target so you don't really need to see folk as they'll be behind you anyway.

If the second account is just stood at the door while you're farming try /stopinactivedisplay 1

It keeps the account logged in but stops the game from consuming any real resources. If you have the second account on follow though, the max fps will be better.

I'll just add that it does sound like a heat issue but it doesn't have to just be GPU related.

The processor could be overheating and throttling back for example.

It's the other way around unfortunately.

You both get your free 15 days game time AFTER the returning friend has applied the code then purchased 30 days game time.

Also, last time i did this, the 30 days paid for game time had to be spent before the 15 days were added. I don't know if that was a bug or an intended "feature" but i was happy with the free time regardless. (was subbing an expired second account)

It is just because of the new SSK system and as Necro said, you can only redeem the tickets if you are at your current level.

You don't need to log out however, just leave team or have the star passed to you and wait 30 seconds (the standard time for most things to adjust) and you'll be able to spend as normal.

I don't know my numbers off hand but i will say that the zone is terrible for performance.

It's probably because all the villain detail is still rendered even when invisible.

So don't worry about your PC needing an upgrade, it's plenty good enough for CoX

Yes Defiant and Onion are "English" servers but that just means the localisation, not what should be spoken.

I'm sure they have got their own channel but that will never stop broadcast lol. Besides, i have fun "translating" what they say

I've had both those issues on vista 32bit.

Both problems are driver based, as updating/changing the drivers to older/newer ones will alternately fix the problems but i'm always left with one. Mostly the screen freeze after i've tabbed out.

It seems so far, it's just one of those little things we have to put up with. It's not a generic problem for all but i know a fair few people with the same issues but with different OS's etc so i don't expect a fix.
