1. I know I'm a little late for the party but if this is still going on I'd love to get in on this
2. The information is most definitely still valid. As far as I understand this guide is to help out the people who are constantly asking the question "How deep should I be in debt?" and "Does CitiGroup accept credit applications from super heroes?"

This guide did a fantastic job of explaining the numbers but probably could have gone a lot more in depth in the explanation of it. The idea behind ED or Enhancement Diversification was to stop people from six slotting one type of enhancement for PvP, or six slotting for perma hasten or perma anything for that matter. ED causes a diminished return which causes enhancements beyond a certain amount to work at a slightly lower percentage. An SO Damage enhance at the same level as the character works at 33.3%, two work at 66.6%, but 3 work at 94.93%.

Now a level 50 Damage IO enhances a power by 42.4%, and two enhances a power by 83.32% which means it's being hit by ED on the second enhancement. To get as close as possible to an even level SO percentage which will work better then a level 50 IO you should slot level 25 (32.0%) or level 30 (34.8%). It's more cost effective in the long run because you can also buy the common IO recipes from the terminals in the universities.

As for slotting sets, like was said earlier it's a little more tricky because you have global effects off of most of the sets. So I would suggest grabbing Mid's Hero Designer and playing around with it, IMHO Mid's Designer has the best interface and is extremely user friendly.
3. While a certain one word post would have been sufficient in my opinion in answer to this current turn of events, I will actually give reason to my disagreement.

Firstly, I have been known to several times give a single worded answer to a thread. Such single word answers would be "yes", "no", "/signed", and the ever popular "/unsigned" (hadn't heard of /jranger before or that could have been fun too). The reason for this is not to pad my thread count as you can plainly see, no no no, the reason for this is because I either arrived at a thread a little late and all my opinions were already discussed at great length or the question proposed only requires a single answer. As someone else stated, I was taught to be concise and to the point unless an explanation is asked for.

Secondly, someone says something and you want to show this person your appreciation for a slight bit of humor, again with what I've been taught a simple "lol" will suffice. And "lol" is already self explanitory. It means you just laughed at something that you thought was funny, is there really a reason to post "lol that's funny"? That's just pointless and redundant, which is completely unneeded. And unneeded stuff should also be on the mod's little "watch list".

Lastly, if I feel I should justify any post with a one word answer it usually means that I don't feel I have to give an explanation. If I didn't feel like explaining or felt that an explanation is warranted I won't give one. But if I'm in the topic then I'm usually going to give my opinion as it somehow caught my attention.

I feel it is completely unfair and almost to the point of being rediculous to dictate to us how to post in the forums. That's not to say that flamer's and trolls should be allowed to go around an cause trouble. By all mines moderate the hell out of them. But they are usually easier to find and therefore easier to moderate. But I stand by my opinion that unless a post is a complete disreguard of proper etiquette it is completely rude to tell us we are in the wrong for our one word posts.
4. Not sure if this was mentioned yet but isn't "Arnold Decker" the name of Harrison Fords character in Bladrunner? So people from the future are also being contaminated?

WTF is going on? *curls into a ball in the corner murmuring doom*
5. I don't know if these have been covered recently but if not here we go:

Currently if your base owes rent you are locked out. I'm the highest ranked in the SG and it locks me out unless I go pay it. Luckily I only forgot once. That being said you don't actually have to visit anyone to pay the rent. It's only past due if you don't have enough. Once you get enough you then have to go see the sg/vg guys and pay in person. Converting inf to prestige can be done by anyone who has over 1 mill inf. Just go to the sg guy and he'll ask if you'd like to convert, should be the first option if you have enough. Crafted base items will be fully deleted; this means no it won't go back to the person who crafted it, no it won't bring back the salvage used but it will refund the prestige used to place it. While working in SG mode from 1 to 10 your inf gain is the same as it always was, from 11 to 24 you take a small hit, and from 25 to 34 you take the biggest drop until 35 where you make no more inf and all prestige in the smallest amounts with 121 being the most I've earned off of one kill (+5 elite boss). I think I covered most of what I saw as changes that were made.
6. You know... come to think about it you can actually learn leadership skills in a game like CoH. Think about team management, you've put together your team, and all seems to go well until the first team wipe. Someone starts getting unruly so you talk to them, they're still mouthing off so you fire him. His friend starts acting up, you try talking to him with the same results so you fire him. You immediately find two replacements and continue on.

Supergroup management could equal corporate or statewide management. The reason I say statewide is you've got the DoT (Department of Transportation), or the TP rooms, the Healthcare department or med-bays, the workshops which could be loosely connected to R&D or even some trades. Then it really all boils down to micromanagement and leadership; who's going to edit the base, who's going to recruit, who are the leaders? All in all you have to wonder what the dev's thoughts really were when they had the idea of SG's and bases.
7. Name: Just Heroes

Motto: "If you could be a hero for just one day."

Leaders: Artica Crystal, Bakalakadaka (MIA due to moving), Omega Alpha, Xavier Rennfield

Player Type: Variety, cause when it comes right down to it we're all "Just Heroes."

Role-Play?: Not really, but a few of our members are more then willing to join in. I myself actively rp on Virtue.

Membership Level: 1 - 50

Supergroup Colors: Medium Dark Blue (12th row, 5th column), Light Grey (1st row, 7th column)

Normal Time of Gameplay: You shouldn't have any problems finding some of us on at all hours, a couple of us run with people in completely opposite ends of the Earth so we're used to odd hours.

Other Information: We're a couple of mil short of being in the top 100 sg's. We've also recently renivated and have a mostly mixed theme of tech and arcane styles. Two inspiration bins, an Auto-Doc, three invention tables, two personal salvage storage units, a large meeting room, Supercomputer, mission computer (for when they fix the CoP trial), an "arcane relaxation room", a "techie relaxation room", and two tp rooms with 15 most commonly used beacons up (the "purple" room is for the lower zones ranging from 1 - 30 and the "green" room is for the higher zones ranging from 30+). And though we'll take anyone we'll also boot the trouble maker's. People bent on making other's lives miserable by verbally decimating another's build, or the "bad" PvPer's that either think they own everthing or are sore loser's because of "spamming" will not be tolerated. If you are found to be one of these types of people or another one not listed you will be booted without hesitation and an e-mail sent to the other leader's not to reinvite you.

Recruiting?: We are always recruiting.

Website: Just Heroes Web Page though I haven't had much time to work on it.

One last note to people reading this: If you find that someone from Just Heroes is acting up (i.e. being rude, starting arguments, trash talking other peoples builds, etc.) please let one of the leader's know and PM me with the chat so that we can take care of it. We DO NOT tolerate ignorant behavior.
8. Huh... anyone have any advice on an archery/IM blaster. So far the first six levels are awesome, just wanted some other opinions on later powers.
9. Ok crazy

I know not everyone is thrilled with the minimal content of I10, but a lot of you have to stop and think. Nothing about this is really doom, and this could be a better issue when viewed long term then just the release to live and a few weeks after word. Here are some points to keep in mind when going back and reading what's in I10 to make sure you didn't miss anything:

<ul type="square">[*]Minimal new content allows for quickly fixing bugs on test for a cleaner release.[*]Minimal content allows devs to focus on pre-existing bugs instead of having to focus on new gamebreaking bugs[*]As far as new Powersets go, we know they're coming just not when. Patience is a virtue that's never let me down at least[*]New AT's are coming, just don't know when but if memory serves they "were" villain Khelds. May be wrong on this one though.
The -----&gt;&gt;&gt;GENERAL&lt;&lt;&lt;-----
population agrees on the following
1. COV needs more SFs
2. PPPs need buffed/re-worked.
3. Both sides need new sets/ATs
4. IOP trial needs fixed

[/ QUOTE ]

To be completely honest I laugh at most people who call doom before they've had a chance to test new content. A friend of mine told me about when ED was in the works how everyone said that it would destroy the game. Doesn't look like it has. People jump the gun way to much before testing. How in any of the content is something supposed to be doom. Rikti are invading again to try and finish up what they started. Wouldn't surprise me if the next issue Hero1 comes back a corrupt and evil man and joins with Recluse to take over Paragon, there could be a SF given out by Hero1 himself that takes you into the heart of Paragon to fight the Freedom Phalanx and Statesman in answer to the STF. Look further then just the issue at hand and think about what it could mean in the long run instead of calling doom right away.
10. Makes me wonder if the new rikti are going to be given new powers or if they're going to have the same energy weapons, swords, and mind control the rest of them have.

I mean seriously, from a developmental end it doesn't sound like they are adding anything new mechanic or structure wise, just rendering a few new models, reskinning a zone, and adding in a couple recipies.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ok here are my thoughts. 1) Not every issue needs to have new mechanics or structures. Hell not even I9 really brought out a new mechanic, it just added to an invention system that was already in play and that invention system was for bases. 2) You can never get rid of all bugs in an MMO game. There is always going to be something wrong going on between system and server and if you try and fix it it could cause problems for another system that never had the problem. 3) Don't you think that a light update would leave room for more time spent to fix bugs. Now that I think about it I'm actually glad that that's all that's being released in this issue. Leave the level cap where it is, give them time to work on the new powersets that people voted on, quit whining about them not adding in what you're proposing. You aren't the only one who pays for this game and you aren't ruler of the world. I for one don't want vehicles or a higher level cap, I'm now very happy with this new issue; thank you complainer.
12. [ QUOTE ]
Heroes already had the crash site, villains are now able to enter it after it's been changed, and you see that as new hero content?

Weird.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ummm... I did say that heroes had it first. Not that it was new hero content.
13. I'm not sure what you're saying, "issue not even going to stay?" The issues that have been are still around and affect us every day. Respec trials, ED (enhancement diversification), Police Band missions. These things weren't around in the beginning. They might put Rikti in every zone for the "invasion" but no they might not stay there. However the invasion will still affect us. I also agree that you should get a toon to 50 asap so you can take part in the higher level content.

Though I don't like Carnies, I do like Freaks. It does sound like a great idea and something new. Nobody goes to the RCS any more so I can understand the want to bring interest in it back. I do like the co-op idea and it worked well for the Valentines day event, but not regular teaming. I don't know if i'll really partake in the content that's being provided unless the costume pieces are really cool looking.

And as said before it looks like just another issue towards Heroes. Yeah sure villains now get to go into the "Rikti Warzone" but heroes had it first so there's just a portal or transport connecting villains to it. The Abyss does sound fantastic and I've been told that it looks even better but I don't have a villain that high and nothings really pushing me toward getting there. The meta plot for vills became very boring very quickly. "Oh yes you did as you're told, you must be the chosen one!" "Say that to all the villains?" I11 needs to be about CoV or i'll just end up deleting all my vills.
15. Ok so what if we wanted to create a new guide. Do we post it to the PvP guides or the AT guides?
16. Deffinately an awesome idea, EX! Of course you do know that Necronomicon is coming to Tampa this October 5-7 which is also my b-day (the 7th). Hint Hint. Wink Wink. Work with me here!
17. Gotcha... just woken up at that point and wasn't thinking.
18. Where would he post it if not here. He did say that he is running a Vista system. And it's Vista telling him the program stopped responding. Where else then?
19. Malcolm - If your primary accounts have admin rights then you've already installed the drivers as an admin. You might try setting the game to run without compatability instead unless this hasn't worked for you in the past. Also check out BillZBubba's(?) Ati settings guide in his sig, I think he's posted in this thread so it shouldn't be to hard to find his guide. That might be able to help you as well.

gunness - If you could please post the DxDiag and Hijack This info, both are found in the sticky "Before you post." That would help greatly in identifying you're problem.

Btw guys I figured out my problem with the sound lag, it might help anyone else experiencing the same problem. Under the options for Graphics and Audio set your sound to "Compatibility" and 3D Sound off. I only get a slight amount of lag due to sound now and that's in the CH when everyones got their powers still going.
20. One thing you didn't mention was reinstalling the drivers, unless that's what you meant by reinstalling the card. Also I don't recall that ATI supports the 9800 under Vista, if I'm correct then you need to set CoH to run under XP SP2 until you upgrade your graphics card.
21. The Dell XPS 410 comes with these three video card options.

256MB PCI ExpressTM NVIDIA® GeForceTM 7300LE TurboCache6
256MB ATI Radeon X1300 Pro
256MB nVidia GeForce 7900 GS

It also comes with the Aegia PhysX card. So make sure you go to Aegia's website (the link is in the very bottom of of the info window of the updater) if that doesn't help try disabling the Physx card in your device manager.

Start Menu
Control Panel
Hardware and Sound
Device Manager (click yes on the prompt)

You should see it there probably listed under "Sound, video, and game adapters." After disabling it try updating your video drivers. If that doesn't help contact Dell Support, it may take some vicious coersion but eventually you'll get them to help you.

&lt;.&lt;
&gt;.&gt;
No I don't like Dell at all if you couldn't tell from that last line.
22. There are always going to be concerns because of the countless configurations of computers and which Vista edition you have. Not to mention the type of install was done. Being that you said you "bought" a Vista rig I'm sure it was an OEM clean install which is good. But there are a couple of things you can do to help make sure you cna thwart your system from running poorly.
<ul type="square">[*]Make sure you have no less then 1ghz of ram. 1.5 I recomend, 2 if your really paranoid[*]Make sure you aren't using onboard graphics. While some chipsets are OK for CoH/V, you solve a lot of problems early on by getting a GPU even if it's cheap[*]Same thing with the sound card. A sound card, a good sound card, will offload a lot of stress from the CPU same as a Video card will for graphics. The more stress you offload from the CPU the better
Remember that this is just a recomendation and not the end all be all of what to do but this is what was suggested to me when I first was thinking of getting Vista so now I pass it to everyone else who is thinking of getting Vista.
23. BTW... where are you guys finding all these switches?
24. First things first... have you gotten the latest drivers? My sister has the same chipset on her laptop and doesn't have any problems with it on recomended settings.

Secondly, run a full system scandisk and defrag. Then open up the CoH updater and "Verify all files." This might take a while so pop in a movie. This happened to me once and it turned out it was a corrupt .pigg file. And no there were no modifications done though how one was getting past the updater and being used in CoH is beyond me.

If none of these work go to your nearest CompUSA or Bestbuy and pick up an ATI Radeon 9800 or the nVidia GeForce 7950 (I believe these two are on par with each other graphics wise). This is all assuming it's a PC as well. If it's a laptop well then better luck to ya.
