  1. That was the longest post I've ever seen that amounted to "I have no idea what I'm talking about".
  2. With those two and a reasonable amount of IO slotting, you can become a nigh-untouchable engine of destruction. MA may not be the best at anything in particular, but it's still far from a bad set in the single target department.
  3. Spines gets Impale at 18, which is very fun in every zone.

I used to PvP around abit for fun, but going into the zones such as siren's and RV I feel that only certain power sets will survive when leaving the base. Maybe it's just me, but I think to PvP you shouldn't *Need* to buy IO's. They should help, but not determine if you are able to pvp or not.
    Just sharing my thoughts.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They didn't determine if you could PvP or not before. I've seen people do some pretty impressive things with some otherwise bad sets.

The necessity of certain sets is a lot of the "myth" surrounding PvP.
  5. Honestly, I don't expect a complete rollback to i12 PvP. As much as I'd like to see it, I know better.

However, I would like to see more options added to the arena so that one can create an i12 environment, as far as mechanics go. Make it so that those of us that enjoyed THAT style of PvP can have it, and those that enjoy i13 PvP can have theirs too.

Who knows? Maybe some crazy alignment of the planets will happen and the two groups will cross-contaminate (for lack of a better term) and mix/match rules.
  6. It's a Rare recipe, you'll have to roll for one with either 20 reward merits at the vendor, buy it for a buttload more merits at the same vendor, or roll a gold recipe for 3000+ architect tickets.

It'll be a nice day when people regard individuals as just that instead of representatives of some larger group that they may be a part of.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sounds like you have a dream.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seriously. The only downside to my dream is that if I get shot, I won't be considered a martyr. I'll just respawn in the hospital.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
but it also doesn't help that noone offers anything up to them on reasonings for what the saw.

    [/ QUOTE ]

While other parts of your post were wrong, this part in particular stuck out.

The devs were invited MANY times to join test teams on vent for full explanations of what happens during a match.

I can remember a few years ago, I got into an argument with someone who said that scrappers getting elemental sets was never going to happen.

Scrappers got Fire in Issue 12.

I don't know if you're playing the game anymore, or if you even read the forums, but if you can see this (and you know who you are) I was right.

My personal favorite was when Tremere said that a group recall friend power was "never gonna happen" (said several times in the same thread, no less) and the next day, the 42 month vet reward was announced. The amount of backpedaling he did then was great.
  10. I'd rather see the "bad seed" elements get removed than to see an aspect of the game ruined for the good ones that loved it.
  11. You got something against the vertically challenged now?
  12. It'll be a nice day when people regard individuals as just that instead of representatives of some larger group that they may be a part of.
  13. Nothing stopped those people from bringing non-FotM builds into the zone and getting wins before.
  14. The most effective character you can make is the one you practice with in excess. A good player can make even the worst sets look good against a bad player with a FotM build. Find the character you enjoy playing and play them till you know how they operate to the utmost detail.
  15. Eh, it's nothing spectacular. It's not bad, but it's not great either.
  16. Flying? No, but it'll stop people from jumping for all of two seconds.

    Intro to PvP?

Eh, I think the zones would be a worse idea, due to the lack of control over one's circumstances therein. Even just by asking a few SG buddies that aren't normally into PvP, you can usually get them to try out a friendly match or two between fellow members. There's a lot less pressure that way, and often no hard feelings. (Which sadly, sometimes happens with zones, warranted or not).

As for watching an arena match, all you need to do is select the "Show All" option at an arena terminal (usually located at the top right of the arena menu). There, you'll see all the events currently in progress or pending for your server. As long as the participants didn't select the "No Observers" option, you should be able to select that even and hit "Observe Event", which is normally on the bottom right of the menu.

Either way, never ever ever ever EVER take anything anyone says in a PvP zone seriously. The sooner you can laugh off the most offensive broadcast and tells directed at you, the sooner you'll be able to kick back and enjoy PvP.

    Intro to PvP?

The best way to start PvP is with a few friendly faces in the arena. There, you will see what tends to work and what doesn't against various opponents. After that, I'd probably look to some of the more experienced PvP'ers/Team participants and see if you can watch/join in on some informal arena matches.
  19. The fear in DM won't do much in PvP anymore. Go either Spines or Elec Melee.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
The worst part is they don't actually have to connect to suppress you, just shooting AT you is enough to trigger it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't believe that's correct. If that's happening, it's almost certainly not working as intended.

(then again, the devs can't seem to make up their minds on suppression rules, so you might be right.)
  21. Unfortunately, that would do little to prevent a stalemate of movement. While every AT has access to ranged attacks, not every AT has them available at each zone level in the game.

A better way would be to remove suppression entirely save for when being hit by a melee attack. Melee AT's could close the gap between animation rooting and keep within range if their opponents aren't careful.
  22. If the attacker is a ranged damage dealing AT, they could attack a melee AT while maintaining a better scope of movement indefinitely. It'd be even easier to kite them without getting hit than it is now.
