  1. Psi blast had a bug after i13 came out that caused one of its attacks to do unresisted damage. It took a while to get fixed, and in the meantime, many Psi blasters were made and used. It still hits hard, but not as hard as some sets (like Sonic). One big advantage it has is in Will Domination. That attack hits like a truck AND accepts the placate proc from the purple sleep set.

If someone insulted you, then it's that person who insulted you. Insulting PvP'ers because you have a problem with someone is terribly short-sighted and ignorant. Trying to give advice after showing that you A) don't know what you're talking about and B) like to screw around with people looking for help does very little to make you look better than the "rude" PvP'ers you love to demonize.

The OP has been given some ideas from myself and others experienced in PvP with stalkers. If they'd like to, they are free to ask in the PvP guides and Arena sections to verify what we've said with other PvP'ers.

It's absolutely not overpowered when you consider the sets, and you have to consider the sets... to compare sets... and then claim 'overpowered', lol.

Rage simply allows SS to do damage on par with competing sets - without it, it's clearly sub-par. With rage, its a top damaging set, but to achieve this, you have to use an entire power, and slot it, just to do damage similar to that of competing sets like SM, that don't have to use the extra power and slots. Now the to hit bonus is great, but SS definitely pays for it with an end crash, 10 seconds of uselessness every couple of minutes and a defense penalty every couple of minutes.

Then people complain about footstomp, and yeah, it's a great power, but it SHOULD be, because it's SS's only aoe power and it's the sets tier 9 power. Remove footstomp from SS and the set is pretty damn lackluster, with a bunch of pitiful single target attacks with little to no damage mitigation.

The bottom line is, SS is fine as-is. It's a popular set that many players/customers LOVE. If it aint broke, don't fix it. This game would be a HELL of a lot better if the devs focused on fixing things players didn't like, or sets that players/customers didn't play (by improving them and making them more attractive) rather than nerfing and messing with sets and powers their customers clearly enjoy, as evidenced by their popularity.

  4. Jacob's Ladder isn't that great, in my opinion. Between AS, Thunderstrike, and Chain Induction, you should have all you need to get in, get a kill, and get out. Keep in mind, you'll need power slots for things like travel powers and fitness as well, so it can get a bit tight at times.
  5. You'll want to pick up Heightened Senses, Mind over Body, Indom. Will, and at least Stealth from the concealment pool. Also, look into getting a stealth IO for your travel power of choice at some point. With Hide, Stealth IO, and the concealment pool, most people will have a hard time seeing you before it's too late.
  6. If you're going regular enhancements, usually 3 damage/3 acc work for most attacks. Your self-heals should run 3 heal/3 recharge. If you look into getting into IO sets, look for sets that give recharge, damage, and accuracy bonuses. (though that is more costly and complicated, but entirely worth it)
  7. [ QUOTE ]

DR also wrecks KB slotting in KB powers (DR applies even to slotted enhancements - yes, even SOs - it's like ED 2.0). Only way to really not have to worry about DR at all is to go into a zone on a completely un-accoladed and unenhanced character.

This is what makes me wish they would just give us a way to take away the rediculous 40% resist to all in arena. . . playing no dr without it is rediculous

I had asked Castle on test recently if they had worked on adding a "no universal resists" option, and he said that it wasn't something they had not looked at.

    Which makes me sad.

As far as PvP goes, just stay out of it. PvPers and rude and intolerable, and MMO PvP is all about excessive metagaming and is a huge gank fest. Unless you are an OMG SUPAR SERIAL PVPER you'll just end up being cannon fodder to some guy with 10 billion inf worth of IOs who cares about little more than getting rep, even if he got it from someone who was clearly outgunned and outnumbered. If you want to play against enemy players, play a First Person Shooter or something, TF2 is a good choice if you enjoy rock/paper/scissors gameplay.

Oh wow, great job there taking stuff out of context from logs that are well over a year old that I don't even have because I don't bother to even use the logging feature but once in a blue moon.

Heck, even if I did I wouldn't have backed them up during my regular reformats because I don't have weird sociopathic preoccupations. So yeah, way to go showing a potential PvP recruit just what kind of people participate in your little world, he's going to feel awfully great knowing people like you keep logs on everyone. Bravo, bravo.

But in all seriousness, I'm both a little amused and a little creeped out you have logs on me and you knew just where and what to find. What did I say that was so jarring you felt the need to find and stock up ammunition against me? Or do you REALLY keep logs on everyone?

Oh, and for the record, I love Stalkers since the PvE buff, I'm now on my 3rd one, at least if you don't count the ones I deleted pre-buff. They are now as survivable as Scrappers when played correctly and can put out solid burst and DPS. And Issue 15 is bringing some PvE Dom buffs, looks like I may have to revisit some abandoned concepts.

So... ...what is Issue 15 doing for you PvPers? Bet you got some cool buffs, rrrrriiiiigggght...?

In any case, I have a level 43 EM/Willpower Stalker, so I know what the crap I'm talking about. He soloed Johnny Sonata as an AV with the help of purples and the Willpower Self Res.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hey, you're the one insulting a group of people without provocation, not me. If they want to read the full log that those excerpts were taken from, they can do so here.

And keeping logs on everyone? No, just the people who show they have no idea what they're talking about. It's less of a "hey, keep tabs on that guy" and more of a "wow, look at what that idiot was saying in /help".

And get back to us when you solo some REAL AV's. Taking the weakest example and saying "lookit me!" doesn't do much for your credibility.
  10. Pick those up in order that they open. For a secondary, I'd say it depends on what type of PvP you want to get into. For zones, you can do well on most secondaries with enough practice. /WP, /Regen, and /Nin all have their up sides. For arena, I'd probably go with /WP.
  11. Grab AS, BU, Placate, and Thunderstrike.

    The rest is on you.
  12. I didn't care for my Elec/SR brute until about mid-30's when I completely redid her outfit. Then I couldn't stop playing her.
  13. For WP, you'll want to try and fit in most everything, except for the rez. HPT won't need that much slotting, since with Accolades, you'll be capped with its base values. I'd recommend building for recharge, then damage and acc. You want your heal up as often as you can get it.

  15. To answer what you're doing wrong, I'd say the timing of your placate. It isn't that hard to placate an enemy just after they attack so that they're affected. In other situations, you can close to melee, attack and put the AI in the "melee" mode of attacking, then hop away and placate while they make the shift to pursue.

Can you get rid of placate and not be gimp? Sure, but you still won't be as effective as you could be.
  16. Well, for PvP, WP is the current hotness. Defense isn't that hot to begin with, and DR stops people from building it up to usable levels, so EA lost a lot of what it had going for it. WP gives some decent resists, easy to cap HP, resistance to effects like repel (great for stormies and FF's), and perception.
  17. Reiraku

    HTTT Reunion?

Pfft, I was running /Energy in HTTT before it was cool.
  18. WP is the arena set of choice. It offers a strong heal, resistance to effects like repel, has perception, easily capped HP, and is very sturdy. Regen could rival it in one on one situations most of the time, but is still lacking a few things /WP has.
  19. What type of PvP?

Not that it matters too much. While /nin isn't bad for zone PvP, /WP is probably the best all around for what you're looking for
  20. Reiraku

    Tanker Offense?

Because these devs didn't make the claim you're attributing to them. And the one dev that made the claim did so quite a few years ago, proceeded to increase Tanker damage by a sizable amount, then left the project around the same time many of the current devs came on to the project.
  21. I've done EM/Nin, Nin/Nin, Spine/SR, Elec/SR, Elec/Nin all to 50. Between all of those, my Nin/Nin was probably the most fun to play. It was a loose build, good damage, and had style along with great synergy. /SR builds are tighter, but also easier to soft-cap with fewer IO's, if that's what you want to do.

Well then, Im gonna skip this other ignorant reply and just talk back with you Reiraku.

Ok you talk about perception. Im decently IO'ed out in every power. You talk about perception but then a stalker can be standing right next to me in Hide and I never see him. Till he lets loose his Strike that is. You said Invisibilty is 1000. then how are they able to see me from 10 feet much less 10000 feet. Something still isnt adding up.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because even though Invisibility gives 1000 stealth, your non-stalker caps at 571 stealth. So that stalker only needs 71 more perception to see you. For the record, /SR, /Nin, /WP, and /DA all have perception boosting powers. On top of that, Tactics from the Leadership pool also gives perception. Each one of these powers is more than enough to see a non-stalker AT at capped stealth.

Since stalkers have a much higher stealth cap, they could run just Invisibility and get the full benefit of the 1000 stealth it offers. Getting to the perception cap is much harder than getting to the stealth cap is for non-stalker AT's.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Invisibility gives 611.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah, good catch. I was thinking of it in concert with Cloaking Device/other invis powers that offer 389. Either way, over the stealth cap for most AT's.
