  1. NOTHING else in the game brings The Power Of Purple to a team like a Warshade.

  3. I've been playing my warshade (Ms Terry) through BAF runs all day (MoBAF badge, yay!).

What I bring to the team/league is ... whatever the team/league needs. During the Prisoner Phase, I just wind up Orbiting Death and Inky Aspect and stun (Minion) Prisoners even before they spawn out the door. This then makes things easier on my teammates to mow them down before they can run (or stumble away at running speed). Let me guard a door where someone is laying down Caltrops and we're golden!
  4. This sounds an awful lot like the "Follow doesn't ever close to Melee Range because it'll stop just short of Melee Range" when Flying/Hovering. Hmmm...
  5. Can it be? Have the Devs finally found a reason to take Greater Ice Sword ... for its 9 ft Gauntlet radius? o.O;

Oh, who am I kidding ... there's never a good combat based reason for taking Greater Ice Sword ...
  6. Clockwork vs IDF vs Seer vs Warworks

I presume that these iPets aren't all identical in terms of buffs, performance, etc. ... but there's absolutely no way to know that for sure based on the information that Paragon Studios has given us (which isn't so much "bare bones" as much as "calcium deprived powdered mixtures"). It would be really nice to know what the various iPets actually *DO* for you in better detail ... so as to be able to make an educated choice based on merits (as opposed to just pure Fashion Sense).

  8. Mind Control Tier 9 = Mass Comedy

Earth Control, as has been said many times, is a very *obvious* control set. When you do something, "the earth moves" (thanks to your subwoofer) and your screen is covered with crumbly bits. Everything that Earth/* does is very flashy, with lots of graphical feedback.

Mind Control isn't like that at all. In fact, the "flashiest" think that Mind Control does is put purple bubbles on heads when it confuses hostiles. And even that isn't always that obvious a thing to do. Mind Control is very subtle in its graphics (to the point of being TOO subtle!) ... but never think that just because it doesn't make the camera shake every time you do something it is somehow lacking in power. Mind Control has an amazing selection of powers, pretty much all of which are worthwhile "out of the box" which can be made superlative with slotting.

I haven't tried */Storm or */Radiation on anything yet, but I have tried */Trick Arrow ... both on a Controller (Grav/TA) and on a Mastermind (Ninja/TA) ... and let me tell you, it's nothing to write home about. For complementing "hard control" powers, Trick Arrow is remarkably weak. Sure it's got Ice Arrow, but Ice Arrow has a ridiculously long animation time (so as to let you "admire" the frosty arrowhead, I suppose) and a pathetically short duration coupled with a really long recharge time. You practically have to 6-slot Ice Arrow as soon as you can, just to bring it up to par! Aside from Entangling Arrow (single target Immobilize) and EMP Arrow (AoE Hold) ... that's pretty much *IT* for hard control support from */TA. Worst of all, Trick Arrow is really, at heart, a Team Support powerset, meaning it's far more valuable to a team than it is to a soloist ... much like how things work out for Empathy (for example). Teams can leverage Trick Arrow's debuffs (such as they are) much more efficiently than a soloist can.

Does a Tri-Form Warshade played almost exclusively in Human Form, and a Quad-form Peacebringer played almost exclusively in Human Form ... neither with any Defenses above single digits ... qualify for your little test? Because if so, I've done it more than once ... *and* can argue that Kheldians make for inferior "scrappers" to real scrappers.

    Oh yeah ... that's right.
    There isn't any.

Resistance and Regeneration always get a free pass whenever the difficulty gets upped.
  14. I'm NOT looking forward to trying to do the new content with my Ninja/Trick/Soul Tankermind. I suspect I'm going to have to do exactly what I had to on the Apex TF ... which is to abandon the pets as unworkable and simply become a Raptor Packing poor man's Debuffer, since without my ninjas, that's all I can do.

In contrast, I find Frost the least skippable, since it's a pretty healthy portion of your AoE damage throughput. It's also possible to slot Range into the power, increasing its reach out to 14-15 ft ... which also happens to be approximately your native jump height with inherent hurdle. Doing "hop-shots" where you jump straight up, so as to point the cone DOWN onto your target turns Frost into a PBAoE-ish power that stands a much better chance of hitting the target cap and thus getting that much more efficient at turning time and endurance into damage throughput.

    Bio:
A former fashion model for women's undergarments, Leggs was forcibly abducted and involuntarily indoctrinated into the Soldier Spider training program after a well meaning but misguided underling partially overheard a heated (and presumably intoxicated) argument between Dr. Aeon and Lord Recluse over the "ideal characteristics" of a perfect Crab Spider candidate. The results were as disastrous as they were predictable (when sober).

Leggs lost her identity and her former personality in her struggle for survival.

The well meaning but sadly mistaken underling however lost their reputation and their life, as a warning to all others who might dare eavesdrop on Dr. Aeon in his lab when "discussing" private matters with Lord Recluse.

Dunno. I'm not the sort of player who goes around looking for bragging rights of being able to solo +4/x8. Heck, most of my characters are *still* set for +0/x0 simply because I never adjust my rep settings.

This makes them excessively squishy in melee combat, especially since they cannot partake of any of the Global Set Bonuses of their Mastermind. -Redlynne

That is completely ridonculous. That's a base designed to frustrate, as opposed to facilitate.

As for what's a good base design? I offer the Screenshot Tour link in my sig below as a modest effort towards that goal. Just be advised that the Spring Knights Base no longer exists in the configuration shown in that Screenshot Tour, as there has been an expansion of the base plot and several of the rooms not only needed to be renovated to "fit" the new map, but some of them underwent wholesale urban renewal ... and are consequently still under (re)construction.

Function First ... but don't forget Form, or let Form be an afterthought.

I really like the take you have on this and I am going to be trying it out as soon as possible.
I find it a lot simpler to "auto-pilot" my Ninjas by putting them into Bodyguard Mode and leaving them in it. I then go about deliberately drawing aggro onto myself, whether solo or teamed (6-slot Perfect Zinger in Provoke helps a LOT with this!). Often times I'll simply open with an AoE TA attack (take your pick) followed by Provoke. The hostiles attack me, which then "triggers" my Ninjas into Retribution Mode so *they* attack ... but I'm still in Bodyguard Mode, and all the aggro is still on ME. That means that any damage that gets through my decently high Defenses gets shared out through Bodyguard, so it's like I've got 75% Resistances on me (2 of 8 shares of damage) and I can withstand way more of a beating than any of my Ninjas can individually.

After that, all I have to do is Hold/Immobilize/Kite while maintaining aggro on myself and the Ninjas just mop the floor with whatever is attacking ME. And I've got Aid Other and Aid Self to spare me resummons or needing to Rest. The whole package winds up being a "firing on all cylinders" sort of combo.
