Heck, even if you did allow self stacking, you'd still need to TRIPLE self stack it in order to Hold a +0 Minion without using Ice Arrow (or any other Hold power to augment).

Allow self stacking of the Hold, but do not allow slotting for Hold Enhancement, and it'll be fine. Edge cases of serious self stacking would still be "possible" ... but would be so much hassle to achieve that people would not bother with the effort.
  2. Irony of ironies ... I actually miss the Hero/Villain music of old during the character selection and creation screens than I do the bubble goo avatar model. I kinda wish we weren't always listening to the same Gold-side theme like we are now before getting logged into our characters, and instead rotated among the Blue, Gold, Red music themes so that we aren't confronted with Eternal Sameness of Theme Music.

Owing to the fact that mine is 50 ... and I went through a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get her there ... I didn't delete mine. Instead, I just simply "exiled" her to Exalted (or as I prefer to think of it, The Retirement Home).

Redlynne dates to Issue 2. She was my first character I rolled up on my first server (Virtue), my first Level 50 character, and still occupies the #1 character slot on Virtue for me. Redlynne walked the path of NO GET HITSU!! in Issues 2-5 ... back when 6-slotting with SOs was the best you could do (I had Hover 6-slotted with Fly enhancements back then!) and was almost always the last one standing whenever the (rest of the) team wiped. The costume you see above was made possible by Issue 4 (and it has certainly "endured" and worn better over time than the PvP introduced in that issue!).

I originally wanted the name of Redline ... or even Red Line ... but, needless to say, those were already taken on Virtue (in Issue 2 no less!) ... so I "settled" for the closest misspelling I could get to that didn't involve L33Tsp34k silliness.

I even managed to dig up a screenshot I took back in Issue 2 and posted at the Hero Dawn fotopages on 8 Dec 2004 (which are now really bad at serving up webpages and effectively defunct) ... so I copied the image to a "better" image site so you can see her in action as a "young" hero (at 640x480 full screen resolution!) ...

This will hurt you a lot more than me ...
As a bit of (extremely ancient!) game trivia, it wasn't until AFTER I'd finished playing for the day, and uploaded this screenshot, that I realized ... "Hey, these Fifth Column guys are like NINE FEET TALL!!" ... because Redlynne is only 5'0". The screencap makes it look I'm about to punch this gigantic Fifth Columnist somewhere ... painful ... when in fact the picture actually captures Redlynne "hauling back" to use either Thunder Kick or Storm Kick on this guy. (Also note the totally *crappy* boots I had to wear until we got Pants and Sneakers in Issue 4!).

    MA/SR Scrapper ... Issue 2 Vintage. That's me.

And as you can tell from my Forum Handle ... Redlynne is still my Main Identity, even after all of these years.
  6. My favorite SNAGdoll physics experiment so far has been blasting Arachnoids (which you see in SSA 3) into walls where they "stick" and hang like they've been velcroed there.

Some of the worst possible Ragdoll physics that is instantly recognizable and repeatable is the Heroside SSA 4, Mission 1 conclusion ... where Malaise "poofs" himself and crumples in a heap right before Sister Psyche whimpers that he's in her mind, and faceplants. Malaise just collapses exactly the way you'd expect a marionette with cut strings to slump down in a heap (without regard for joints or contortion limits). Watching his head do a 180 (or better yet, a 360!) turn on the ground with his legs folded up under him in anatomically impossible ways just goes to show how badly borked the ragdoll physics are in the current live release.

    Ninja/Trick is just ... DON'T.

On most TF/SF/iTrial teams, playing Ninja/Trick, you're going to be a Secondary with almost no Primary powerset operational. The problem is that Trick Arrow does little to nothing to help your Ninjas STAY ALIVE for very long ... meaning they just fold like pre-creased origami paper (on a humid day) as soon as they draw any aggro. Think "Blaster half life" and you'll have an idea of about how well they stand up to incoming fire (let alone STANDING IN FIRE!). Just about the only way to give them even a *semblance* of survivability is to go Tankermind and draw all the aggro onto yourself, while keeping the Ninjas in Bodyguard Mode to apply Retribution™ to anyone who attacks you.

The real problem is that the *ONLY* way to improve Ninja survivability (since you can't enhance them for better Defense by slotting, other than a Pet Set Proc) is to lean *very heavily* on your Secondary for damage mitigation. Force Field is undoubtedly "The Best" for this since it lets you give all your Ninjas the power of NO GET HITSU!! ... the value of which cannot be understated. A very close runner up would be Time Manipulation ... for its PBAoE Heal, the value of which (again) cannot be understated(!), and the Defense Buff and To Hit Debuff combination, along with the Recharge/Movement Debuffing potential. A lot of people look at Time Manipulation and feel like most of the Recharge Buffing will go to "waste" on a Mastermind, since Pets are unaffected by Recharge Buffing, but Time Manipulation does so much MORE than that the set really manages to redeem itself even when dealing with a Mastermind.

Traps and Dark will also work well with Ninjas, although in different ways and with different strengths and supporting different playstyles. Storm can also make for a very "interesting" combo with Ninjas, but makes for a very ... CHAOTIC ... playstyle that Ninjas are (ironically) well suited to take advantage of.

Just be aware that any powerset that relies on Debuffing as a major form of damage mitigation/control is going to have its effectiveness severely curtailed by AV Resistances, which is why Force Field (buffs) is one of the better pairings for Ninjas ... as opposed to Trick Arrow (debuffs).
  8. Caltrops: non-mobile target location AoE control power
    Triage Beacon: non-mobile buff "pet"
    Acid Mortar: non-mobile debuff "pet"
    Poison Trap: non-mobile debuff/control "pet"
Trip Mine: non-mobile "set and forget" delayed blast PBAoE

Web Grenade: ranged debuff/control attack power
Force Field Generator: mobile buff pet
Seeker Drones: mobile self-destructing attack pets
Detonator: make one of your Primary powerset pets self-destruct (for PBAoE damage)

    Kheldian Fashion

    Ms Terry

    Costume #1: The "Original" Costume
This look is essentially unchanged from the costume pieces that became available in Issue 4 (aside from maybe the Hair, I forget). Simple, yet sleek ... and amazingly enough, somewhat distinctive, since I almost NEVER see anyone else wearing this combination of costume elements. Pretty much everything about Ms Terry's fashion choices flows from this elegant beginning.

    Costume #2: Toga Party
This is my "when in Cimerora" costume for blending in with the natives. The part of this that I like the most is being able to make the One Shoulder Cape look like it's a part of the drapery of the toga such that it's REALLY HARD (even when you know where to look, and at what angle) to discern the "join" of the Toga Top and the Cape ... because they blend together almost seamlessly (pun unavoidable).

    Costume #3: Formal Wear
Found this combination with another character who had a different color scheme (white and darkest purple), and was kind of surprised to see how well it came out with black and purples (plural). Deluxe Wedding Tux, Witch Leather and Rocket Boots are the main requirements for this particular costume. Two fun things about this costume are the coattails of the Tuxedo flashing "Bat Butt" when jumping around () and watching the Rocket Boots "ignite" whenever teleporting in Human Form.

    Costume #4: Casual Beatdown
Sleeveless Biker Jacket, Witch Lace Top, Roman Pauldron Shoulders, Shorts and Baggy Socks Shoes. This is my other "let's go visit the Cimerorans" costume, which has more of a modern feeling to it than something strictly period. Tight in all the right places, and comfy where it needs to be, while being "timeless" enough to look good in pretty much any era.

Costume #5: Stand Back! I'm going to use SCIENCE!!!
Vanguard Tights (top and bottom), Resistance Gloves, Tech Wings, Rocket Boots, Ascension Shoulders and Belt (decorative, but not radiant). This is my "armored" look, for when I want more than just bubbles and smoke between me and whatever I'm devouring the souls of. Essentially a High Tech Power Armor costume look, that has everything a girl needs (and nothing she doesn't!). I also really like the "accidental muscularity" that Rocket Boots lend to the calf muscles on female characters.

Sonic synergizes with Demons' inherent Resistances and gives you Resistance Debuffing and some Mez Protection.

Poison doesn't really synergize with Demons, but it does let YOU do nasty things to hard targets.

Traps operates best wherever and whenever you can Stand And Stick to slug it out. Traps doesn't work all that well for a highly mobile Mastermind who is constantly running around (see: Steamroller Teams). Best way to think of Traps is as a sort of Portable Fort that you set up wherever you go, but which doesn't travel with you when you move.

Trick Arrow ... uh ... hmm. I've got a 50 Ninja/TA ... and I can't really think of anything GOOD to say about Trick Arrow in a PvE context. Trick Arrow ... underperforms ... at everything, except Oil Slick Arrow.

This is why, at the Player Summit, in the Powersets and Player Abilities Panel, I practically begged the Powers Team Devs to "swap around" which powers are required to combo up finishers for Dual Blades Stalkers, so as to *AVOID* requiring ANY of the following powers:
    • Assassin's Blades
    • Build Up
    • Placate
Still waiting to hear any sort of ... positive response ... to this request, although I'd kinda like for movement on this particular bit of gimptacular design with the Issue 22 revamp of the Stalker AT.

If you're sufficiently neurotic, you MIGHT be able to get away with building a SPIRAL staircase using florescent lamps, and "sheathing" the entire circular pillar/volume of space with those circular roundel wall lights arranged in a hexagonal pattern to make "walls" so as to get something that looks kinda, but not quite, like the elevators we see in Crey Lab Maps.

The item count would be ridiculous.
The precision required to exactly place that many objects at EXACTLY the right height, at EXACTLY the right rotation, so as to make a circular/tubular aggregate object would be madness inducing without a new UI element allowing us to EXACTLY CONTROL the x/y/z axes placement, along with the rotation, in a very finely controlled way.

    Good luck with that ...

Hey Zwillinger ... would it be possible for you say which quarter of the year you would LIKE to have the next Player Summit in? Being able to say "not in the first half of 2012" and the like would help a lot of people with advance planning (things like vacation time, and so on).

The answer to your question varies based on how big the Max HP and Regeneration Rate (and Level!) of your $Target is/are. This question does not resolve into a single "one size fits all" answer, but rather devolves into an algebraic formula (which Arcanaville might be interested in, but few others) that doesn't really answer the question you asked because of the Too Many Variables pre-condition.

Don't get me wrong. The Regeneration Debuff is *useful* to have ... but thinking of it in terms of damage equivalence and trying to solve the equation for DPS is pretty Bass Ackwards.

    <snippity>

There's a bit of a difference in Power Balancing between a Toggle and a Click ...
  23. Basically, the Awakened Conduits have a Click Power that amounts to "YOUR PRIMARY/SECONDARY IS *INVALID* AND WORTHLESS" to all Defense based protection schemes because ... well ... just because ...

If a player were doing this, it would be considered both Cheating *AND* Griefing. I mean, it's not as if Defense (alone) isn't the flimsiest protection scheme possible out of the alternatives or anythin- oh wait ... it is.
  24. Either Demon/Dark or Demon/Time if you're going to be going without Demons. For a totally wacky option, you might try Demon/Storm (or Robot/Storm or Ninja/Storm or Merc/Storm if you want a purely ranged Petless MM).
