I assume the text is just there to provide flavor, but it does seem to imply a direct in-game benefit. I can see where it would be misleading.
  2. I believe it unlocks a new custom weapon, namely the carnival mallet for the War Mace set. I have a toon I really want this for, but I'm not sure if I really want the headache of fighting all those illusionists to get it.

Not sure if there are any other benefits, but the wiki would have the info.

Edit: According to the wiki, you also unlock the strongman gladiator badge when you get this badge.
  3. Just a note, some of that info may be outdated now. The Freakshow, for one, were hit with an XP reduction a while back.

Yes, this. The mobs are level 31-33 (0r more?) even in the lowest section of the zone. Taking on hazard-zone sized spawns +1 to +3 your level can be tough when solo (at least it was for me when I tried it at level 30).

One of my fondest memories in this game was running into a level 30 in Crey's Folly who was having great difficulty completing his kills for the aura mission. I was on a level 40ish at the time and teamed with him so we could quickly blow through the mobs he needed. He was so happy to finally be able to get his aura, it was kind of touching.

That must have been even more awesome after power customization allowed you to color the stench cloud. Putrid brown or sickly green? So many delightful options.

Yeah, but after reading the responses and explanations from other members, the OP graciously acknowledged that getting genericized was completely justified. He seems to "get it" now, he doesn't really need to keep getting hit upside the head with it.

No, I'm afraid even consenting adults don't have the right to do whatever they want in public. This game's Terms of Service (as well as common courtesy) dictates that sexually explicit comments may not be made in public. I personally don't care if people ERP or not, that's their business, but it is appropriate to take that kind of thing private. As far as I know, the GMs don't police what happens in private in this game and only respond when behavior is reported by offended parties.

But I guess you realized this, as your later comments in this thread seem to acknowledge that ERP belongs in private.

I was going to say that doesn't make any sense because it wouldn't explain why you would occasioinally see people from the same faction. But then I realized I don't think I've EVER seen another player in Dark Astoria, so yeah.

He mentioned clues, which is what would make it a puzzle instead of merely a process of elimination. Although you would need some kind of penalty for making the wrong choice, else you could still just click randomly until you got it right.

Personally, I would welcome randomized puzzles as an occasional alternative to the usual smash and grab, but I'm not sure how well received they would be by the general population, or if it would be worth the time and effort of the Devs to create them. Also, I think they would have to be optional, possibly providing a bonus or short cut rather than being mandatory to mission completion, or I can see frustration and complaints resulting.

I've never witnessed it on the US servers either, actually.

  13. All my toons use the Vault Reserve almost as soon as they start picking up salvage. It's an extra place to store salvage for later use in crafting enhancements so I don't have to keep buying what I need from the market or waiting for new drops.

It is toon specific. There's a Vault Reserve building in a number of zones, and the location is marked on the in-game map. Paragonwiki should have a list of zones that have them.

    Game Masters

Most GM's are indeed quite aggressive, but it can be a rewarding experience to take them on nonetheless. Not only for the personal satisfaction, but also for the 2 merits and the badge.

I wanted to walk slowly over to the contact to return the mission, as if to simply say "The deed is done, I expect my payment up-front." But then I see the incredibly strange magazine model walk and it completely killed the mood.
There's your problem right there. BAB included a code in the walk power that causes your walk animation to become silly as punishment should you ever defeat his character in game. He's not going to let you walk proud after beating him to a pulp.
  16. Yeah, I was fighting a mob in St. Martial and out of nowhere a rubble joined the fray. But I figured it was left over from the Deadly Apocalypse that got lost trying to exit the zone, just like SpaceNut said. Maybe the rubbles in particular are glitched and have trouble leaving after the event?

Well, in all fairness, you're comparing to things that happen in zones designated for higher level characters. In fact, until very recently, low level characters couldn't even get into places like the RWZ and Dark Astoria, sidekicked or not. The Halloween event takes place in all zones, including lowbie zones. I don't think it's unreasonable for a player to expect to be able to handle an event happening in Atlas Park with a level 5 character.

I too have found ToTing solo with characters below level 20 to be rather deadly, especially where squishies are concerned. Those bosses are just a little too much for some characters to handle, and the boss/lieutenant combo that sometimes appears is instantly fatal for some. By no means have I let it ruin my enjoyment of the event, however; I've mostly stuck to my higher level characters, and tried the lowbies when I'm in the mood for a challenge. But I can sympathize with the OP's friend, who would not have higher level characters to use.

And yes, it's a once a year event, but new player would have no reason to think the rest of the game isn't just as frustrating. First impressions are key. If I jumped into a new game and didn't like what I saw the first day, I would not likely be inclined to give it a second chance.
  18. Another thing you might want to do at level 30 is unlock the stores in Brickstown and/or Founders Falls (I believe these have level 35 & 40 enhancements). Unlike previous stores, these need to be unlocked by doing missions. You should at least unlock the one for your origin, but may want to do them all. I'm not sure if I remember correctly, but I think doing a store mission may get you an introduction to a new level 30+ contact too.

    Slow-motion

I have also observed enemies running in slow motion recently--and not just ambushes. I've seen patrols doing it too.

Seems like it's only been the past month or less.
  20. It looked to me like the population dipped a bit this summer, but it was with the release of I16, well before double XP, that things seemed to pick up in a big way to me.

I also agree that the super side-kicking is one of the best features ever. Makes teaming with my friends much easier.

    Costume Codes

When I visited the NCsoft Booth at this year's San Diego Comic-con, I was given a card with a Knives of Artemis costume code on it. I kept meaning to activate it, but never got around to it. Obviously, you're far more interested in getting the costume than I am, so if you still need it, I can give you my code.

I'm not positive that what I have is the same thing you're looking for, but it sounds like it might be. Anyway, I won't be able to retrieve the card until tomorrow. Let me know if you're still interested.

Can't help with the PPD Hardsuit, sorry.
  22. Since I16 was released, the servers I've played on appear more populated than ever. Even when playing at odd hours, I seem to run into other players out in the open zones more often than I used to. And the Halloween event seems to have caused a further population spike.

Of course, this is based on casual observation, I have no hard numbers regarding actual population. But it continually surprises me how often lately players complain of "empty zones" when my experience has been the exact opposite.

If you and a friend are teaming often with a particular pair of toons, you may find it to your advantage to have different origins. That way, if you receive enhancements you can't use because of your origin, there's a chance your buddy can, and vice versa.
  24. Did you remember to water it?

On a serious note, the vault access in my base stopped responding a while back. I hadn't moved it or made any base changes. It did indicate that it was unpowered, but the base had power to spare and the upkeep was paid up. I ended up deleting it and then reinstalling it, at which point it worked fine.
