  1. The only way to prevent this is to set the leadership expiration to max (45 days, I believe) and then make sure to log in at least once every 45 days. Or else kick everyone out of the group who is not an alt or a trusted friend. No way to get it back unless the current leader agrees.

Even before they instituted the Super Leader (the "red star" leader), super group leaders were subject to losing their leadership status for prolonged inactivity. This is nothing new. I took over a group in this fashion (over a year later, and the original leader has still never come back). It's a good thing, too, because I would never have been able to get the base accessible again if leadership hadn't passed to me (permission to pay rent was set to leader only). It's this kind of situation that made this feature necessary.

I noticed that too but didn't even consider it a bug, I thought it was intentional. I hope they do change that, my eyes aren't what they used to be.

Also, while we're on the subject of bugs, maybe someone can answer this: one of my SS characters had foot stomp set to ground punch under power customization. Now it's set back to the foot stomp animation, and when I tried to change it back, the option was no longer there. Is this a bug, or did they remove the option for some reason? Hardly a critical issue, but I loved the ground punch animation, especially for that particular character, and it'd be cool if I got it back.

You may be right, but I traveled to and from Cimerora several times in the weeks prior to I17, including just two days before the release and never got stuck. The day of the release, I got stuck both ways everytime. I also saw another player there who was also stuck in the floor, and started seeing references to this glitch on the board--I hadn't seen either before I17. So if this bug was around before, it seems to have become more common.

I'm sure the Devs will resolve this and the other issues quickly. They always do a good job in my opinion. Unfortunately, as good as they are, bugs do happen. Just because some people don't experience them doesn't mean they don't exist (prior releases, I never experienced any bugs, but that didn't mean I discredited or disrepected those who claimed they encountered them)
  4. I agree that this issue seems a bit buggy. Fortunately I haven't experienced any of the major problems that some people have reported, but I've noticed a host of small things. I got hit with the above mentioned Cimerora glitch (both when entering & exiting) and the /stuck command wouldn't get me free. On one of my characters, my power customization choices were reset to default and I had to pay at the tailor to get them set back to what I had before (ok, didn't really pay, I have tailor tokens on that character). A friend that I played with was on hide and couldn't get unhidden even after he verified that all his settings were to not hidden (it persisted even after he changed characters).

I'm not trying to be a complainer, Ultra Mode is great, the new missions are fun, demon summoning is cool, and I love the feature that pinpoints the last mobs on the map for you. But I'd be lying if I said I couldn't see the OP's point. This is the first issue where I've run into any bugs at all, let alone multiple bugs on the first day. Hopefully they'll iron everything out in short order.

I had the same problem, both traveling into Cimerora and traveling back to the Midnighters Club. /stuck did not get me free in either case. (not the first time /stuck hasn't worked for me). Fotunately I was able to teleport away with a black market teleporter.
  6. I was on Justice hanging around Atlas Park last night between 4-7 pm pst. Talk about your ghost towns. Luckily, I was somehow able to defeat dozens of arch villains and giant monsters all by myself.

    Seriously?

As already stated, the event only took place in certain zones (Atlas, Talos Island, Cap Au Diable). Made it easier to find the action, but also easier to avoid for those who did not want to participate. I only encountered the lag in the zones where the event was taking place, and only when I got near the action.

Although the lag was annoying, it was no worse than I've encountered during massive Rikti invasions. And just as those invasions are fun and worth the lag for me, so was the anniversary event.
  8. I have to say, yesterday's 6th anniversary event was pretty cool. My favorite was the group of Jack in Irons standing atop the capital dome in a ring around the flag. I had never fought him before, and yesterday I got to help take down more than half a dozen in 5-10 minutes time.

Last year, during the 5th Anniversary event, I just ran from zone to zone without ever finding anything at all happening. This year it was easy to find arch villains and giant monsters aplenty. I think it was a great idea to limit the event to a few announced zones. Made it easy to zero in on where the action was.

    Bravo.

But seriously, that's actually a great idea. For some reason, it doesn't seem like there's any obvious pointers in the game to clue new players in that "hey, there are trains in this game and that's how you get from zone to zone." Even the "yellow line" and "green line" on the map don't always spell out "train station" to many players (didn't for me). I remember running around on my first character when I noticed a train pass overhead and I followed the rails back to the source, thinking "there's got to be a better way to get around, and I bet this is it." Of course, if they directed you to take the tram right out of the tutorial, you'd know right from the start to look for tram stations to get around.

I guess, like finding the tunnels in Faultline, figuring out there's a tram system is one of the rites of passage of this game.

  12. When I logged out last night I saw the updater start, and I let it keep running as I went to bed. However when I checked the computer this morning, the download was only halfway done and it looked like all progress had stopped. In fact the updater window was blinking for some reason. I hit cancel figuring it was a glitch. Now I wish I had left it running to give it a chance to finish while I went to work.

You wouldn't want cookies baked by Rob Liefeld's grandmother. They are unprofessionally made and baked way out of proportion with real cookies. It's like the woman has never studied or even seen an actual cookie in her life.

Slow and steady wins this race.
This is the method I use, but it can be a problem on teams with relatively low
DPS. The ambushes follow one another rather quickly and do not wait until the last one is defeated. Last time I did this mission on a team, we didn't defeat the ambushes fast enough and were completely overwhelmed by enemies. (Solo, I've never had this problem, even on low damage toons)

    Ambushed!

Those Tuatha de Dannans should be banned for using an exploit.

Apparently ambushs can follow you places where enemies normally can't go. I recall hearing about an ambush following someone into a store once before, but in that instance the player reported that the enemies immediately exited as if they realized they weren't supposed to be there. This is the first I've heard of a player actually killed in a store by an ambush.

Ok, let me ask you this. Six years ago, when you were a new player, did you blow through the content then? Would you still be here 6 years later if you had?

I think it's understandable that long time veterans are going to want to power level some of their toons and blow past a lot of the familiar content. What I think the Devs worry about is new players coming in and being lured with exploits that allow them to do the same thing. They fear that noobies who hit level 50 in their first week are likely to get bored and stop playing, thinking that there's not much too this game. You already know differently, but many of them don't.

They have to do what make sense financially for the game. Sadly this means stepping on the toes of some loyal players. But then, if the game doesn't survive, there won't be a game to be loyal to anyway.

Actually, Marvel also had a patriotic character named simply "The Patriot," (appeared in the Invaders), so that would be problematic by itself.

You just have to be careful--simply making a patriotic themed character wouldn't get you genericized, but there have been so many such characters in comic history that you could easily make something similar purely by accident. I suggest googling all the names listed so far in this thread and just make sure your character doesn't look like any of them.

Most of the time, I don't think the Nazi Fish Farm is too terrible (although I find it surprisingly easy to sometimes overlook mobs in the pools). But I've come to despise that map because of one mission that uses it. It's the Vampyr Lab mission in Striga that Scythus mentions:

Usually you can take out the transformation chambers before they get a chance to spawn more than a single vampire, but there are always 2 or 3 close to the top of the stairs that begin spawning vampires before you can even see them. Not to mention there are already enemies and a mounted artillery gun waiting up there to attack you. By the time you fight your way past and get your first shot at those transformation chambers, you're facing a whole swarm of newly spawned vampires.

It's a bad combination of mission objective and map. And running that map on any mission gives me bad memories!

How to find good content in AE:

    1) Play Dev's Choice, Guest Author, and Hall of Fame arcs. This will not guarantee a great story everytime--I've played a few in those categories that I personally thought were stinkers. But on average you should run across much better content than you will by picking arcs at random. And it's unlikely any of them will turn out to be farms.

    2) Go to the AE forums and read the reviews on arcs. Not only will you get some good recommendations, you should get enough info on individual arcs to judge which ones suit your particular tastes.

    3) Make your own. This is player created content after all, and you're a player! Be part of the solution! If everyone dismisses AE as simply a power-leveling tool, then we really won't have any good content anymore.
  24. I 2nd this--I too have reused a name within a couple minutes or less of deleting it.
