Quote:Dag-nabbit! I knew I was doing something wrong!Manoa speaks truly. If you are Justice, you are family. All are welcome, even our adopted children like infallible, Grazel, and Angel Red.
I'm saddened that I didn't realize you were there. I was looking forward to meeting you. I don't think I've gotten the chance in previous years.
It's a crime Pope & TJ weren't able to put their heads together on how best to appreciate Miss Liberty's costume! I'm afraid I may have been stifling the man's creativity! -

Maaan... this is a tough crowd to follow...
*hands Trixie a patheticly wrapped in newspaper birthday greeting*
Happy Birthday!
Hope you have a wonderful celebration! -
Quote:This is interpreting info I got from TJ second-hand, but his question was how his card (the 4850 HD 1MB) would handle all the settings at max settings, so I'd figure since it sounds like your card is the same, it'll work with all of them, just not necessarily at max settings. This makes me happy. Wondering exactly how many of the new settings will work with my HD4850. I can already maintain 60+ FPS with max settings on my rig so I'm guessing I should be able to handle ultra mode without taking a real noticeable hit.
Or does not running everything at max settings not count as "work with?" -
Quote:I can't speak for anyone else, but I know I didn't. Sorry. Best I can do is suggest you PM Dark Watcher aka Vince D'Amelio (Lead Programmer). No guarantee you'll get a response, but he was the source for everything I found out about Ultra-mode being ATI compatible. I went to Jimmy "the IT Guy" to find out the specific card used in the demo machine & then totally forgot to ask anything else about the demo machine so... shows how much you can rely on me for tech info!Very nice! I was a bit disappointed in watching the video keynote that no one had asked about the tech behind Ultra mode, but you've allayed much of my concern regarding the graphics update.
Did you or anyone else manage to pin them down on SLI, Eyefinity, Hydra, and/or Nvidia 3D (glasses) compatibility? I would guess that the target platform was DirectX 9 clean code such that the Mac port would be smooth as possible and to ensure Windows XP was still a viable platform for CoX.
Were there any questions regarding the PhysX code or is that going to be ported over to OpenCL/Cuda/Havoc/DirectCompute?
Did anyone ask about anti-aliasing on the Mac port?
I'm asking here cuz I'm too lazy to find the main thread. :P -

Quote:I mentioned this in the HeroCon updates thread, but I figure this is a good place to bring it up too! There's no need to hope the AMD/ATi issues will get fixed for Ultra-mode, the system running the Ultra-mode demos was sporting two AMD/ATi 4870X2 cards! Jimmy the IT guy says they're overkill, but since AMD was providing them to help make sure the demo ran flawlessly, he wasn't going to complain! I also asked Vince D'Amelio if there were going to be efforts to resolve the ATi issues or if users were SOL due to legacy code. That was when I found out the demo was run on a system with ATi cards.Looks like Ultra mode announced at Hero Con is going to change a lot of things and hopefully fix the ongoing ATi issues.
Youtube
(Actually, I guess that doesn't directly address the concerns with regard to non-Ultra-mode game settings. Nor does the info that Paragon is working closely with AMD & NVidia to ensure neither system is at a display disadvantage, as presumably that would be geared to the new graphics features.) *shrugs* sorry... didn't think to ask about that.
Also, I found out from TJ that Vince had told him that his AMD/ATi 4850HD 1MB would run all but a few or the Ultra-mode features at maxed out settings. I think he also said the next step up would handle features at maxed out settings. One presumes "handles" means it runs in something other than pathetic frame-rates. -

Belated Birthday Wishes!
Hope you enjoyed your celebration as much as I did HeroCon! -

It's the stabbing that Kat does. It makes the ground nice & fertile!

Quote:Thanks for pointing this out Manoa. Though...Quick reminder as everyone preps for HeroCon...the dinner will be at the Buca in Campbell (located at 1875 South Bascom Ave, Campbell for those who need to print maps or input into their GPSs).
The list of locations also has a location in the Oakridge Mall in San Jose...this is NOT the location that you want.
(I wanted to post this to be on the safe side, as I didn't read the first post closely and didn't see the address in the post that RG has been updating. I was thinking it was the SJ location this whole time...and I know of at least one other person who thought the same).
TR;DR - Reminder, go to the Buca in Campbell, not San Jose.
I kinda thought the Where in the post would be the obvious place to find that info!(That's the 1st post of MY page 3. YMMV)
I went back & checked the OP too & found that's the one that doesn't have the address, but I instead, point out the steps to go to the site for the Campbell location.
I think you might've just been excited about the Con & had San Jose on the brain. Well... and both those posts were pretty TL;DR -

No need to apologize, real life happens.
What's important this weekend, is that we get to see you come up for air. And eat. And drink. (You've already got a spot saved for you. Being old, I forget if that's because you responded to my PM or if it's because Talia had your back AGAIN!!!)
Glad to hear you finished your degree, I foresee a celebratory drink or bacon waffle in your future. Though... given what I recall about you & mornings... it may need to be a lunch-time bacon waffle!

Quote:Well, I'm 2 days early, but since I can't predict the future, I figured I'd post this since I am unsure if he will get it ON his birthday:
Arc ID: 339668
<3 you. Hope you have a good one. And I hope you enjoy the pumpkin cream pie I make for you! :3

Quote:Is it bad that I'm so prepared to expect people to only be negative about the devs or the game that when someone says nice job I assume it's meant sarcastically...?
Anyway yes! I like the new Halloween event! Great fun.Quote:My exact reaction to reading the title of this thread..."Oh great, what now?"
"Awesome!" Anything else seems insulting. -
Quote:There's a first post!?!Wait, the first post on the first page is hard for you to find?? You know, you can always click on the [<<First] button on the lower right hand corner of the thread if you're having trouble finding it.
And a first page!?!
My memory doesn't go back that far...
For some reason page three stuck with me. Maybe I keep hoping to find what's usually on some other page 3 instead...
Stop picking on me you Mean ol' Cat Lady!!! *bawls* -
Quote:I think we'll have to ban you from the meals. You might pop a staple from being so engorged.Staples. At least one drain may still be in place, although it's unclear whether it will be removed beforehand or not. Right now it has a metal clamp on it, and they are looking at the output from the other one to see if it can be removed.
Yeah, it was the big surgery, no laprascope for me. Haven't really had much pain luckily, except when I try to get up from laying down flat and that's mostly resolved now that I'm at home and able to sleep in my recliner again. It was mostly the raising and twisting at the same time that was getting to me.
10 pound weight lifting limit won't come close to being touched if I can help it. Luggage has wheels, I'll just be paying/begging for the lifting help. I'm carrying nothing on the plane but me, so no worries about the overhead bin and will be checking my luggage at the curb (if it's available in Austin) or having one of the Continental people lift it when I check in if my sister doesn't insist on coming in that far with me just to handle the luggage (very possible).
I'll have fun with the security anyway, with the extra metal it may take me longer to get in and out. Unless they accept the note from the doctor and do one check on me then wave me through the other lines.
When I mess things up, I do it big. My biggest worry Friday was that I was going to knock myself out of the trip. Yeah, I know that shouldn't have been my biggest concern at the time, but it was anyway.
I gotta get a life.
Seriously though, as much as I'd hate to see you miss the trip, I also don't want to see you injure yourself by overexerting too soon. Take it easy & be safe. -
Quote:Ker-added!I hope it's not too late to add me to the dinner list. That Rival MMORPG has monopolized my attention for the past month and a half. (Which showed me that I really needed a break from COH)I forgot to inquire about about the Justice dinner and submit my AE arc for the contest
. But I'll have my car with me. I can (theoretically) take 4 others (if everyone exhales).
Hmmm... need to keep working on those sound effects... that's just not up to spec...
FYI the list I'm adding to is page 3 if you're using the default display settings. I'm using it because it's at the top of the page for me & thus easy to find.

Quote:I'll be staying in some condo in Sacto the night before and catching my 2-hour drive about noon-ish on Friday.

Wha?
Mean ol' Cat Lady rubs it in!
I took the day off, so theoretically could sleep in and be well rested. Instead I agreed to give plasma in Mountain View at 9:00am Pacific time. Maaan... my life is hard isn't it? -
Quote:If you can get your registration, LMT signup & Wentworth's shopping done before heading out for dinner Friday, then there will be less reason to rush back Saturday.I don't know how blasphemous this is, but would a lunch trip be a better idea? They probably wouldn't be as busy then, and we'd know the con schedule at that point. If we end up dropping 20 people on them at once, even if we were seated right away, I'd expect it to take a while just to cook everything. I'm perfectly fine with early mornings, but if the goal time to be back at the hotel is 9 AM, then I don't see being seated at 8 as being enough time. (Even if we were able to be seated then.)
Y'know... whoever's planning this Con's details MUST be a villain! 'Cause the schedule is murder on our extra-curricular activites! So ebil! -
Quote:I'm going to call them tonight after work, like I said...telling them to expect us between 7:45 and 8:00 sounds about right for travel time, correct?
How would I know? I'm never awake at that time of day on the weekends!
Probably. When I used to play paintball, I did get up that early and the streets were pretty clear. If everyone's ready to go & in the cars at 7:30am, then 7:45 doesn't sound out of the realm of posibility. 8:00 should be a slam-dunk. Now getting tables at those times... let's hope your phone call can work some magic! -
Quote:Heh.I'll third the "not seeing it happen" part, too. 7:30am is seriously asking a lot of me, as I am not an early riser. Usually, if I'm looking at 7:30am, it's because I haven't been to bed yet.
Please note that while I have a hard time seeing getting people ready to go prior to 7:30AM (Prolly through sleep encrusted eyes) I will be there & ready to go if that's the time agreed upon. It's all about the motivation!
Bacon waffles? Justice crew? Consider me motivated. I may be asking for the Mountain Dew though... :P -
Quote:Dry ice shipping is incredibly expensive cause it's considered a hazerdous material (for good reason). An improperly packaged dryice container can cause an explosion.......Fedex wouldn't ship for Temple University for a few years due to a package containing HIV infected blood being packaged wrong and blowing up in their truck. So yeah..... usually around $70 min for dryice shipping
Explains why Schaub's doesn't want the headache!
