Egregore quickly recovered from his laughter and proceeded. "Not at the moment. I was hoping you'd reply in German so my systems could run a few algorithms and update my speech center. But, here we are talking in English."

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Heh, if that's all it takes then I'm happy to switch to the language I'm not so amusingly bad at", the soldier replied in German. Noticing the plasma rifle appearing in the cyborg's hand her grip tightened slightly on her own weapon. If he attacked he'd have more bullets than flesh in his chest before he could get a single shot off, but she wasn't going to shoot first.

    [ QUOTE ]
"Now to fully answer your question from before...I am from Primal Earth. Axis forces and some others I didn't recognize came through a portal. Several heroes along with myself got caught up in the ensuing fight, and suddenly the portal blows up. Next thing I know I'm here. I wouldn't know if any of the others survived or got caught in the blast."

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Hmm, I didn't know that portals could do that...", the soldier answered. "Though I'm hardly an expert on portals."

    ---------------

    [ QUOTE ]
"Sounds coming from that way." he said, jerking a thumb down one of the side tunnels. "Some speech English." he added.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Isabel stopped dead in midair as the flaming comet she now recognised as being the tanker shot past her not once but three times. She had to wonder how he managed to move that fast. But that was forgotten as he pointed toward where the sound was coming from, as she took off in that direction. If they were speaking English then maybe they were more heroes, or at least friendly.
  2. In RP threads I've seen it done both ways, the game lore isn't specific on much at all regarding Kheldians so players are free to make up more or less what they want. In the end, it comes down to how you want to do it really.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
The very second she raised her hand in the preliminaries of an attack, the Swordsman blasted towards her, swinging his blade widely.

    [/ QUOTE ]

((It's worth noting that Isabel isn't there anymore, she's down in the sewers with Cham's and doodaa's characters. Sorry we moved on without you.))
  4. [ QUOTE ]
"Oh, thank Joule. You speak English. I'm from Primal Earth, and I-"

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Not very well", the soldier replied, cautiously coming out to where the cyborg could see he, though her rifle was still pointed squarely at his chest. "I guess you realised that already", she added as she heard him laughing. Tempting as it was to shoot him just for that, she didn't. "Do you speak German?", she asked hopefully, not really wanting to keep amusing him with her horrible accent.

    --------------

Isabel looked around as probably the last thing she'd expected to hear in an Axis Amerika sewer found its way to her ears. "You guys hear that?", she asked the others before listening some more, trying to work out which direction it was coming from. After a moment she flew off down the tunnel, not looking to see if the others were following or not.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
    "Caught in ridiculous teleport-explosion also?"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Isabel didn't respond for a moment, hovering flat against the roof in an effort to remain unseen until she worked out if he was friend or foe. From what he said though it was fairly obvious that he'd been caught in the portal the same as she had, so the logical assumption was he was a friend. Thus, after the aforementioned moment she dropped down beside him. "Yeah, I'm as stranded here as you are." The other man that showed up just as she spoke she recognised, and gave a small wave as he spoke to the fiery guy.

    ----------

The female soldier looked around as what sounded like an explosion echoed through the sewers, followed by faint voices she couldn't make out. She was about to request permission to go and search for them when the cyborg spoke, drawing her attention back to him.

    [ QUOTE ]
"Speak up some you crazy Germans, I can't understand a thing you're saying."

    [/ QUOTE ]

What language is that? English? That settled it, this guy must be from somewhere else. She knew the ŠZBV cyborgs never talked to their targets, just killed them. So this guy either was from Primal Earth or some third party she was unaware of. She tried to remember as much as she could of the English she'd learned back in school before speaking. "Who are you, and where did you come from?", she yelled back to the cyborg. Her pronunciation was off at times and her accent was horrible, but it was understandable at least.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
You do realize Egregore just threw a knife into the gunman's scope? It would be ridiculously easy to mistake it for an actual attack.

    [/ QUOTE ]

((She's meaning something more than just defending himself from being shot, which is what she assumed it was since the knife went into the gun rather than into the guy holding it.))
  7. "Don't they usually attack on sight? It obviously knows we're here, so why's it just sitting there?", one of the other grey-uniformed soldiers spoke up in German, a slight trembling in her voice betraying the repressed desire to turn and run like hell, even though she knew she'd never outrun it. She swung round to check behind them, half expecting to see another cyborg coming up behind them to take advantage of the distraction, but there was nothing.

Thinking about it some more, a faint possibility occured to her. Given that there had been a mission to Primal Earth, and from what they'd heard at least some people had gotten through, maybe this cyborg wasn't from their dimension at all? Of course if it was from Primal Earth it'd probably consider them just as much an enemy as the others, so she kept her thoughts to herself since it made no difference really. Though she did keep watching their backs just in case, never hurt to be too careful.

    ---------------

"Well, I dunno about you guys but I'm getting out of sight before someone finds us", Isabel informed the others before flying off in search of the nearest sewer entrance or manhole. As much as she hated the sewers they were a good place to hide, the Rikti had proven that. It didn't take her long to spot one either, not like they were uncommon in a big city.

Landing beside it she tried to pull it open, but a combination of a significant amount of rust and her own relative lack of physical strength rendered her incapable of opening the manhole with conventional means. Fortunately she had unconventional means at her disposal, just had to hope the noise didn't attract unwelcome attention. She was about to blast it when a flash of what looked like flames shot past her, but when she turned to look there was nothing there. After hesitating a moment longer she decided it had been a trick of her imagination and threw a small energy blast to blow the grate open before jumping down into the sewers.

For those that go into the next day already, don't go far and pay attention to who is still in "last night".

    [/ QUOTE ]

I wasn't going to post until everyone had posted dreams but Todd's post was just too good an opportunity to pass up. I'll hold off for now until people catch up - hence why I was asking who hadn't posted yet.

    The Two Six: OOC

So, how many people have yet to post dreams? Averick of course because he's away, and also Zeta, Kasoh and Crimson I think. Is that all or have I missed someone?
  10. [ QUOTE ]
"You see where that girl, the sword guy, or that borg go?" continued the blaster.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As if on cue Isabel appeared at the end of the alleyway, apparently having the same idea they'd had about taking cover. Noticing the others she reflexively raised a hand to blast them before realising who they were and that they were on her side. Lowering them again she apologised. "Sorry. Any of you guys know what happened, other than the obvious fact that we're in another dimension?"

"Ah and in case any of you care I'm Isabel Matthews, AKA Portable Apocalypse. I don't care which you call me", she added before moving closer and taking a seat on a vacant crate.

((Khell, would you mind terribly if I put a character in there with Toy? Thought I should ask first.))

    The Two Six: OOC

Re: my latest post, page 21 - Feel free to have Abbie's screaming wake your characters up if you want, it's probably loud enough.

Also, jumping on the 'Averick is a goober' bandwagon.
  12. "Oooohh.... and that's what I get for being too close to an exploding portal", Isabel muttered to herself, rolling off the crate she'd landed on. She then came fully awake again as she realised she'd rolled onto thin air, just moments before hitting the ground with a soft thump. "Note to self: wake up before moving", she commented, pulling herself back up and rubbing the leftover spots from the portal out of her eyes so she could take a look around.

The first thing she noticed of course were the banners. "Now I'm damn sure those weren't there before. And wasn't it daytime? How long was I out?" Then she realised - the portal. She hadn't been 'out' at all, she just wasn't on Earth anymore. At least, not her Earth. She and the others were presumably in another dimension - one where the 5th had been significantly more than the minor annoyance they'd been back home, judging by the banners. Wait, didn't we get invaded by alternate dimension 5th a few years back? Axis America I think they called that one, maybe this is the same place?

One thing however she was certain of. She needed to get off this street before the the 5th showed up. With that in mind she retreated around the side of the building into the nearest alleyway, hiding from any patrols that might come along the street behind a convenient stack of crates.
  13. ((No I understood fine, I'm just taking a short break from being obsessive. Yeah, I know how unlikely that sounds.))
  14. [ QUOTE ]
But before the last could pass out completely, he managed to bring his TRV-150 to bear one more time and loose a rocket from the launcher's maw.

    It headed for the portal...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Isabel knew she likely wouldn't be able to do it, but she had to try. She flung a single blast after the rocket, but as she'd expected it fell short. The rocket continued through the portal unhindered. Grumbling quietly to herself, she dropped back to the ground and went from soldier to unconscious soldier, restraining them all such that they wouldn't be able to bolt for the portal the moment they came to.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
    Death by snoo-snoo!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

There are certainly worse ways to go.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
The ones garbed in cobalt blue were busy running and shooting at a flying metahuman that was taking them down one at a time from range, even as they bolted for the portal.

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Oh no you don't", Isabel muttered to herself as the soldiers below ran for the portal. She kicked it up a notch to make absolutely sure they didn't get there, flinging all kinds of highly dangerous energy towards them while simultaniously dodging around the streams of return fire as best she could and forcing herself to not scream when one or two hit her. Thankfully they didn't hit anything vital.

    [ QUOTE ]
Unfortunately, the Mercs were in the dead middle of everyone at this point, fleeing at haste, and chances were, this would get in someone's way.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not so much they got in her way, as much as she got in theirs. A stray energy blast blew a fairly decent hole in the ground right in front of the two fleeing mercs, showering them both with debris as well as placing a signicifant obstacle in their current path.
  17. Isabel might not have been a military type, but she'd fought more than enough Council to know a grenade when she saw one. Or saw three, rather. She mentally kicked herself for not expecting something like this, and for dropping the shield when she did. Grenades, you see, do not typically have a particularly long fuse and thus it was unlikely that she would have the five seconds or so she needed before she was capable of putting up the shield again.

Thus, the only option became to run, or rather fly, like hell. And fly she did, straight backwards away from the grenades. But not fast enough or far enough, and as the first of them went off the blast wave knocked her out of the sky to land in a cloud of dust and muttered curses on the next rooftop over. "Fine then, overkill it is", she said to herself as she pulled herself back up and took to the air again. Dropping over the side of the building, she flew in a rather erratic path towards the soldiers to make it as difficult as possible for them to shoot her before she was close enough to shoot back. The moment she was in range she let fly with a barrage of energy bolts, some small and some not so small.
  18. Possible yes, but you do run the risk of being genericed since as I understand it most 40k characters are copyrighted or some such.
  19. I'm so happy I don't have the patience to go through that site for all my characters.
  20. Isabel's eyes widened as she saw one of the soldiers she was aiming at point a gun back at her. Coming up with a plan in the half second of time she had to do so, she redirected the energy of the blast she was charging up into a different outlet. The same personal forcefield that had protected her from the helicopter crash shimmered back into life, and she breathed a small sigh of relief as the man's shot impacted harmlessly on the shield.

Sadly for all its defensive power the shield limited her offensive options somewhat as she couldn't attack through it. "I hate fighting people who are actually competent", she muttered angrily to herself as she retreated back out of their line of sight, the shield dissipating as she did so. Assuming they hadn't moved since she saw them since they had been under fire from other sources as well, she lobbed an explosive blast towards them. Curving around in midair as gravity took effect, it fell to explode hopefully somewhere near the soldiers.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
((Yeah, maybe a description of her as more than 'a girl' would be nice then. Also, quick note: the gray guys are the ones running for the portal; not the blue ones. Also, they're on the street, not in a warehouse. ))

    [/ QUOTE ]

((Well I did say she was off duty, the logical assumption would be that she isn't in costume. But yeah sure, more complete information.

Hero Name: Portable Apocalypse (Just because she hasn't been trying to explode stuff so far doesn't mean she can't.)
    Real Name: Isabel
    Archetype: Blaster
    Primary: Energy Blast
    Secondary: Energy Manipulation
    Epic: Force Mastery
    Travel: Flight
And descriptions I'm not good with, but I can make pretty pictures for you to look at.

Also, edited my last for misunderstood information.))

    [ QUOTE ]
They both 'ported, leaving nothing but a large cloud of green haze from the gas canister behind.

    [/ QUOTE ]

With the last remaining soldier apparently saved, Isabel was left with only the advancing tank to worry about. Seeing another hero trying to shoot the treads she joined in, sending a focused pulse of energy towards the vehicle's left side. Depending on exactly how sturdy the treads and relatively thing armor covering them were the tank would be left with a sizable hole where its left tread used to be, and would likely start driving in circles.

She didn't stick around to see what happened though, as there were still a half dozen or so blue-uniformed men firing automatic weapons nearby and she had no intention of getting shot today. Leaping into the air she flew up to land on the edge of a nearby rooftop before taking careful aim at the soldiers and charging up a sniper blast.
  22. ((It's not so much misunderstood power, it's that as a hero she's not going to outright kill someone without at least giving them a chance to surrender or some such. Also might be worth noting she's not in costume - today was meant to be her day off so she's just in casual clothes.))

Hearing the automatic fire and the body hitting the ground behind her, the girl turned around to see the pair of soldiers lying lifeless on the ground. "Am I the only one here who isn't aiming to kill people?", she asked absently before moving back towards the warehouse. "Fine, whatever. Just try to leave one alive at least so we can find out what's going on here, hmm?"

Following the retreating soldiers back towards the warehouse, she noted the cyborg looking guy taking one down. probably should stop them getting back through that portal and find out what they wanted here at least, she thought to herself, seeing grey soldiers making a run for the portal. To that end, she hurled another explosive blast in their general direction.
  23. ((So what happened to Plague? Gave up?))

    [ QUOTE ]
In Richard's extradimensional base, the screens in the ops center were pulsing brilliant light, showing Talos Island and, dimly visible in the shattered night, a small human figure in the midst if virtual drifts of stunned or dead bugs. The lights in the center and across the complex flashed 'Uh... hello? This could be important...'

    [/ QUOTE ]

Richard was muttering angrily to himself as he came back into the ops center, something about 'useless equipment'. Probably he meant the still flickering lights, but either way he stopped abruptly when he saw what the console was displaying. Leaving the question of why it was displaying that when it hadn't been when he left and no one had used it since then for later, he noted the location displayed on the map and hurried through to the workshop to see if Matrix's portal was still online. Thankfully it was, and stopped only to make sure he had his own portal device before running through.

Reappearing in Atlas Park, he took off towards the Skyway gate. Strangely, the police drones on either side of the gate were all still online, though they didn't appear to regard the bugs as a threat for whatever reason. Yet another question to answer later. Proceeding through Skyway City to the Talos gate he noted a couple of spots were the bugs seemed to be extremely numerous. Maybe they'd found survivors that hadn't been so lucky. Regardless, the silence was again broken only by his own footfalls as he jumped from building to building, not staying anywhere long enough for the bugs to notice.

Finally reaching Talos, he consulted his map to retrieve the location he'd written down earlier and headed in that direction. As he approached where the latest survivor should be, he began to see increasing numbers of dead or stunned bugs. Finally he saw the person he was here to collect, and aimed for them. Dropping out of the sky with an odd crunching sound as several bugs were crushed under his feet, he put one arm around the other person and leapt away again before the bugs could take them both. Bouncing off a wall before landing on the next building over, he headed for the nearest War Wall. He'd noticed the bugs tended to avoid them so they should be safe there for a while. Landing carefully on the edge of the structure he finally let go and turned to explain. "Sorry about that. They seem to avoid the Walls so we should be safe here for a while."
  24. The girl who had been attacking the soldiers inside swore loudly and colourfully as the battle suddenly came a little too close for her liking. Jumping back as stray automatic weapons fire very nearly hit her, she noted the hero getting thrown around and the two guys attacking him. "Two on one, now that's hardly fair", she commented absently before realising two things. Firstly that her little burst of swearing had probably alerted them to her presence if they hadn't been aware of her before, and secondly that automatic weapons tend to hurt and she should probably find cover before someone else got the bright idea of shooting at her.

Unfortunately, finding cover on an empty street is harder than it sounds. The nearest suitable obstacle was the tank, and under normal circumstances she'd never reach it before being torn to pieces by many small armor-piercing bullets. Good thing then that being a meta she had no reason to ever be in anything resembling normal circumstances. She flung a wave of energy across the ground towards the two soldiers, following it up with an explosive energy blast and hoping as she turned and ran for the tank that one or the other would knock both soldiers off their feet.
  25. The other hero didn't answer, so the girl shrugged and advanced towards the warehouse figuring she'd just shoot at anyone who shot at her. Standing at the edge of the door she poked her head out to take a look at what was going on inside. Fifth Column? What? Didn't those Council goons kick the crap out of them a while back? And who are those other guys in the blue uniforms? It made no sense to her why there would be Fifth Column soldiers in a Galaxy City warehouse, but one thing she did know was there was no way they were here to do anything good.

She was about to start flinging energy bolts at the soldiers when yet another explosion sounded behind her. She turned around just in time to see what might have been a car get crushed under the advancing tank. Hastily stepping aside as a flaming tire rolled past her she noted that the car's former driver and another hero who'd 'ported in seemed to have the tank situation under control for now, so she went back to her original plan and started blasting soldiers, retreating behind the cover of the door as needed to avoid being perforated by the inevitable return fire.
