"Last time I held off on an attack on humans, about a billion people were killed."

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Oh...", Isabel trailed off, slightly stunned by that little announcement. "I guess that explains the prejudice against humans, at least..." Idly she had to wonder if that was half a billion innocent civilians, opposing military troops or a little of both. Killing enemy troops in a war was after all far different from slaughtering noncombatants.

    [ QUOTE ]
Have been hearing tales of far too many worlds conquered 'for own good' by powerful idiots. Or exploding while powerful idiots attempted conquest 'for own good'.

    [/ QUOTE ]

"He's got a point there", Isabel mused. "You don't even need to look at other worlds, a good half or more of the villains and other assorted crazies in Paragon think they're doing things for the greater good. Look at Doc Vahz, for example. He thinks he's trying to cure all diseases or some such. Admirable goal, wouldn't you think? And I won't even get started on Malta."

    ------------

    [ QUOTE ]
"Hello." she told Valerie neutrally, "Please to come with me..."

    [/ QUOTE ]

To say that Valerie was surprised would be an understatement. She hadn't thought that anyone had seen her, but apparently they were more crafty than they looked. She mentally kicked herself for being so careless even as she rolled over, her weapon coming up and discharging an EMP grenade in Sydonia's direction. Given what she knew of cyborgs she knew it wouldn't stop this one permanently, but with luck it'd disable her for long enough that Valerie could make a run for it with a decent chance of success.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
"...aside from the humans?" she replied thoughtfully, honestly attempting to recall another reason for the law, "No. At least...I don't think there is. We've got a big volcano, but that's about-"

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Something to look into, perhaps", Pax replied, before the dragon stopped mid-sentence and took off. Pax followed with all due haste, stopping to watch as Sarah produced something she vaguely remembered, but had never seen out of its bag before. "Nice toy", she commented, not bothering to ask what it did since by all appearances she was about to get a demonstration of exactly what it did anyway.
  3. Most people, both ingame and here on the forums, will put out of character chat in brackets, or something unique to identify it as such. That's where most would put their 'Lvl 6 Warshade LFT' and such. As for rules, mostly the same as applies anywhere else in the game. Don't be a jerk to other people, use a little common sense, etc.

Channels can be either, depending on what you need or on the team you're with. Most pickup groups tend to be out of character. Again, most people will note OOC chat as being such in some way, especially when talking to other RPers.

As for MA, I've seen it done both ways. Tends to vary depending on the situation, mostly.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
    "Can you understand that...?"

    [/ QUOTE ]

"More or less", Pax replied, nodding. "Though we still don't understand why you're so secretive to begin with. Do you have some kind of ancient and extremely powerful something to protect or some such?"

She grinned. "And we'll find your island eventually. Don't worry, we won't tell anyone though. You secret's all safe with us."

    Ch?teau Rouge

Down the street a little from the Chateau, a door opened. A fairly common occurance in any city, but the woman who stepped out through it was anything but common. If the short pair of horns sprouting from her forehead and the deep, almost blood red hair didn't give enough of a clue, the sleeveless black trenchcoat topped with (probably excessively) spiked shoulderlads and the tight pants, flared at the bottom and with a golden tribal pattern down each side, should be more than enough to convince anyone that this was someone more than average.

"Hardcase is gonna owe me double for that one...", she muttered angrily to herself. "Place was massive." Continuing to mutter angrily to herself she stalked off down the street, stopping in front of the Chateau. "A bar, huh? Hmm, might as well." Shrugging, she pushed the door open and went in.

"Hmm. Nice place", she commented, looking around before wandering over to the bar. But her intent to grab something to drink was shoved aside by her overhearing a certain Scorpion Mercenary asking about fees. "Hiring for something, are you?", she asked, looking over to them.

    Villain OOC

More like I got busy with studying for the tests I have on Wednesday. I'll try to fit in posts somewhere.

    Anyway.... SHEEP STRIKE!

    Villain OOC

Not originally, but that's what it seems to have become. And on that note: *flings an explosive and possibly also radioactive sheep at Devious*

    Villain OOC

*Hands Grey two reds, just to be difficult* Great, first villains in the hero thread and now heroes in the villain thread. What's wrong with having one thread for both anyway?

*Fires mind control ray at the heroes in question*

    Villain OOC

I was under the impression that either Devious or Wolffe was doing it.

Edit: *is obliterated in a giant nuclear fireball* ................ *gets back up* Huh. Yay for awakens.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
"Like Vlasta said: very different standards." Wolfgang replied to Isabel, getting back up out of the chair, "If we got upset over such things, we'd have to be going crazy at all the destructive stuff from your world...especially since it's not under your control."

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Exactly. It's not. Not like here where the central authority of the planet is the one aiming the highly destructive hardware at us. With no significant opposition to them using it, from what I've seen", Isabel replied, feeling the need to point out that difference.

"And as for those Malta guys, I would go so far as to gaurantee they won't still have that portal tech in less than half an hour. An hour tops, depending on who Portal Corp gets to retrieve it. After all, there's a reason why they're always having to steal more. And yes I know, don't get my started on Portal Corp's security or rather their apparent lack thereof. I'm not claiming our world is perfect, in fact it's very far from it, but we're still not fond of staring down the barrels of loaded guns regardless of who's holding them."

    [ QUOTE ]
The armored man gave a nod and handed the Tsaigon a touchpad, which Vlasta in turn casually extended to the heroes in an offer to have a look at it, "This one is sitting on a rooftop with a rifle. Has not done much, so we are not sure: one of yours? Should we pick her up?"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Valerie had indeed not done much. There wasn't much she could do, apart from keep an eye on the building her sister was being held in and dodge the occasional patrol. Those watching might have noticed that the cloaking field she was under didn't seem to be coming entirely from the cloaking device. Rather, a good portion of it seemed to be coming from her directly, using some sort of energetic aura to bend light around herself and thus render herself invisible.

She didn't seem aware she was doing it, though, and it wasn't entirely impenetreble by any means. Far harder to detect than the average cloaking field, for sure, but still no real obstacle for the sophisticated scanning hardware being used. If anyone cared to run the appropriate tests, one might notice that the energies involved in forming her stealth field seemed to be of the same kind as what Isabel was so fond of throwing around.

    -----------

Back in the office, Isabel looked at the screen for a bit, debating whether to tell them or not. Not doing so would likely make them simply kill that girl, and for some reason Isabel found herself not wanting them to do that. Thus...

"Yeah, we've seen her before. She was with those rebels we hooked up with. Seemed to know me somehow, kept staring at me when she thought I couldn't see.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
The Tsaiv didn't answer. Sentient beings - pah! Humans were dregs, barely qualified to be called sentient. The boy was evidence enough. More than likely, some other humans had done something to him, or his mother, or whatever, but she was sure humans were the cause. They always were. Always bickering, always fighting, always warring...ugh, why was she even still here?!

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Geeze, who pissed in your cereal this morning?", Pax asked irritably before the two got out of hearing range, the Tsaiv's persistenly sour mood getting on the Kheldian's nerves. Since the kid seemed to want to follow them, Pax decided she may as well tag along as well. "Mind if we join you?", she asked as she flew up beside them, like Slagg very obviously adressing Sarah with the question rather than Zuzana.
  12. If we ever get power customisation, I would like wand and staff costume pieces and the ability to set powers to come from those instead of hands. Would completely negate the need for this powerset.

Admittedly, might be hard to do though. But I still want the option for my character to use her Blackwand for more than just the veteran power.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
It's just a problem of anchor points, I've heard.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Specifically, players don't have the required attachment point to hook a jetpack onto. And yes, we do have the crab packs. However, ever looked at one of those on a female character? It's not actually attached to their back at all, rather it hovers a good half a foot out from it. Similarly, it'll become embedded in the back of a huge character. (Least I think it does, I know the various temp travel packs do but I don't think I've ever looked closely at a huge spider sans uniform) Also, they don't scale very well.
  14. For what it's worth, my usual method of using it on high speed teams is take a running jump and hit it in midair, so that the heal goes off just as I land near the person who needs healing.

The only buff it needs is for the heal range on the MM version to be the same as the corruptor and defender versions.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
"You really need to take a very big 'chill pill', as a friend of mine says."

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Given that you have a considerable array of military hardware currently aimed at our world, I think we're perfectly entitled to be a least a little upset", Isabel pointed out. "And as for 'united races', are all races considered equal in that agreement? No offense, but I get the idea that this world wasn't exactly given the choice to join or not."

    [ QUOTE ]
He also waved a curt, low-key hello to Isabel, hiding halfway behind the Sovereign, though his reasons for either weren't very clear...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok... why was an alien she didn't know waving to her? Just when she thought this world couldn't get any weirder, suddenly people know her despite her never being here before.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
"P-Please...D-Don't hurt me," He said and was choked for a second by his tears.

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Don't worry, we won't hurt you", Pax replied. "And we won't let anyone else hurt you, either." She did wonder why he thought she might hurt him, thought on second though given the stories the others had told so far it probably wasn't that unreasonable assumption.

    [ QUOTE ]
The Tasiv only gave a huff, crossing her arms as she leaned against a tree with a disappointed look to the Kheldian - as if Pax had somehow caused Sarah's sudden deviation...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Pax calmly glared right back at her. "Don't look at us like that, it's not our fault Sarah actually cares about other sentient beings regardless of species." That the Tsaiv didn't, and that to not do so was bad, she left unsaid - but very much implied.

    [ QUOTE ]
"Now,I think we need to take this young boy back to the tavern. I know it's not a place for children, but at lest there I can order him some food and maybe some water to drink." she spoke mostly to the group, although she'd already decided she'd be going though with this plan whether anyone agreed to it or not.

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Sounds like a good idea to us", Pax replied, with a look to Sarah and Laz as if to ask if they wanted to come too.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
-Move DJ Zero around and change his costume one in a while.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Reminds me a little too much of spending a heap of time to find similar NPCs back in WoW (All those wasted hours searching for Rexxar... ) but in a small zone like the D that'd probably be ok. Plus if the contact marker could be made to point to his current location rather than the default then that'd solve that problem entirely. Dunno how hard that'd be though.

Alternately you could combine this with one of your other suggestions and have him actually be a DJ rather than just floating there looking stupid all day.
  18. Something I'd love to see in a CoH 2 if such ever gets made (And I would definitely buy it if it did, just saying ) but to change such a fundamental part of the game after five years would be a mistake in my opinion. There's just so much that'd have to be twisted around to work under the new system, that it'd be like making a new game. And if they're willing to go to that kind of effort, they might as well just start making CoH 2 instead and be done with it.
  19. You know, there's all this whining about lack of such places but still no one ever uses the Midnight Club for anything other than going through to get to Cimerora. Just saying.
  20. (( Not at all, doodaa. Nice to have you back on the forums with us, try to give a little warning before disappearing this time hmm?

Taking a few liberties with the kid's location (as in, close enough to hear), if that's not ok then tell me and I'll edit. ))

    [ QUOTE ]
"Thus they were all dubed demons." Mirravin tried to comfort her, but she didn't think this was very comforting news to anyone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Close enough as to make no difference, and still annoying", Pax answered, probably more irritated by the fact than frightened. After all, when one finds themselves combatting demons practically all the time, it does start to lose its shock value. "Anyway, if you want to 'get us all to gather properly' then we would suggest we follow them", she continued, gesturing at the departing dragon and Tsaiv. "Since we doubt they're going to turn around just because you ask-", she cut off, turning to look around at a noise she thought she heard - just in time to hear the thump of someone tripping over and collapsing.

"Is someone else out there?", she called, again lifting off the ground and flying off in that direction, energy trailing behind her as it always did with peacebringers. It didn't take long for her to come upon the source of the noise, a young and rather bedraggled child. "The hell happened to you, kid?", she asked as she landed at the edge of the small clearing created by the fallen tree he'd presumably tripped over, speaking in the concerned tone of someone who wants to help.
  21. I think the usual explanation for the different servers is something along the lines of alternate dimension.
  22. "Demons", Pax sighed quietly, mostly to herself. "Why is it we always seem to end up fighting demons. Really, would it be so hard to find something else to fight against?" Whoever that last question was directed at, it most likely wasn't anyone in the group. More likely she was asking the universe in general what she'd done to get stuck with demons all the time.

    [ QUOTE ]
Then there the whole language thing not all the elfin sounds translate.

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Pssh, at least your language can be spoken by people not of your species", Pax commented absently. "Try speaking the language of the Mefnanim and see how far you get."

    [ QUOTE ]
The Tornado nodded again as the two left the clearing, headed again into the woodwork proper. They hoped they'd managed to do so without anyone taking notice...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Pax spotted them leaving, but chose to remain silent on the matter. After all, if they wanted to leave then they were fully entitled to do so. Besides, she'd wager they wouldn't be too hard to find later if they turned out to be needed. The dragon after all did kinda stand out, even in her smaller more humanoid form. Thus nor did she at present choose to follow them, deciding that if there was a castle full of demons on the loose then it would probably pay to at least learn what the thing looked like and where it was so that she could avoid it. Or attack it, as necessary.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Bosses tell me there's somethin' here that needs put down, so they drop me off. Not the first time."

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Of course, they wouldn't tell you who exactly, we suppose", Pax said in an exasperated sort of tone. "No, that would be too logical. And for the record, we've been accused of being demons more than once. Monsters too, come to think of it. Doesn't mean we're either."

    [ QUOTE ]
I might be old but I don't care for the title grandmother.

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Hmm. Well, you can't have it both ways. You're either old or you're not", Pax commented, seemingly amused by the woman's apparently short temper. "...still, at least you're not a catgirl. Foxgirls are slightly less prolific, last we checked. And less annoying, usually." she placed particular emphasis on 'usually', as though she wasn't entirely sure she was right about that one anymore. "And you might want to just tell her, before she gets mad and pulls out that oversized gun of hers", she added almost as an afterthought.

    [ QUOTE ]
"But..." the Tornado found herself confused, "Her spying isn't...?"

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Incidentally, if we remember correctly we were spying on you too, the first time we met. Maybe you just attract creepy people or something."
  24. [ QUOTE ]
"Negative." Wolfgang slowly shook his head at Isabel's question regarding Rularuu, "Sounds like a bad case of intestinal infection..."

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Hah, if only he was", Isabel replied somewhat belatedly, having gotten distracted by a certain picture of a flying birthday cake on Teivos' desk and wondering what the point of such a thing was. "Actually, for all intents and purposes, he's a god. As in, 'consumes entire universes on a whim' sort of power. Admittedly he's probably the most extreme example and technically he doesn't reside in our universe but we've tangled with him a few times. Not always ending in our favor, I might add." For that one, she actually could provide personal experience if required as she'd spent a significant amount of time in the Shard. For all the dangers, flinging oneself from island to island via gravity geyser was still exhilarating. Especially if, as Isabel could, you had your own flight to catch yourself with in the all too common event that they missed.

    [ QUOTE ]
"Yes, that means I still do not believe you"

    [/ QUOTE ]

"But you're willing to at least check it out and confirm exactly which group has been lying to you, right." For his sake he'd better be. "Under the circumstances, probably as good as we're going to get. Though I still have to wonder why you believe them so easily but refuse to believe us..."
  25. [ QUOTE ]
"He's my term project." the Tornado elaborated with a proud smile. A moment later, her expression grew thoughtful, however, "...though it looks like two of him are missing. Ralf, where's the rest of you...?"

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Looks like a fairly standard hovering drone to us", Pax said, obviously unimpressed. "Though we do have to wonder, why did you name it Ralf? And what do you mean about it being your term project?"

    [ QUOTE ]
"Wait, are you feeling left out Pax? I'm not picky if that's what you think."

    [/ QUOTE ]

Pax didn't reply, but the small energy bolt she sent in his direction likely spoke for itself. It wasn't aimed directly at him and nor was it big enough to hurt even if it did, but it'd get her point across.

    [ QUOTE ]
"That's because most of them think their name too good for your ears. Elves can be real pricks most of their lives. This one here is one of the most laid back I've seen, a real work of art to say the least."

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Obviously you hang around the wrong kind of elves, then", Pax commented, chuckling a little. "Remind us to introduce you to Anlaar at some point." The fact that the elf in question and here/now were lightyears and possibly eons apart didn't seem to occur to her, nor would it likely bother her much if it did.
