Yeah, if we did do it for one of my characters it'd be 'portal storm messes with D teleporters, poof we came out a few hours later purely by accident' and for the other it'd be 'a few tedious hours of filling out registration forms later...'
Still rather we didn't though. Almost every time skip I've had in threads has resulted in the thread being dead within a month.
-
Since I'm not involved in that plot directly, I have no meaningful opinion on the matter. In my experience though, people hate time skips.

Quote:"You did, and that sounds like a plan to me... if only so I can get these off", Ildela answered, looking around. If this dimension was similar to the one she came from, then they'd need to go to City Hall which would be... "That way", she told the others with her, gesturing with both cuffed hands to the building in the distance. After making sure they understood, she headed in that direction around the base of the statue.
"Ildela... hope I pronounced that correctly? Please lead your extradimensional friends inside and have the three of you properly registered. I trust you will not try to remove your cuffs? I'll be right behind you, just going to make some calls."
----------
Quote:“sos lead on, Ildela, you’re a local I’m guessing, as you seem to know what who and where abouts here..is there a place a feller can clean up I am a bit dusty from all the travels and explosions and likes, they have clean water here?“
"But I'm getting sidetracked", she added after a moment's hesitation. "Should be able to clean yourself up in the bathrooms upstairs, there's clean water and everything. Hell, we could swing past Trina in the VIP lounge and get something a little less beaten up for you to wear, too." Just then, the elevator hit bottom and the doors slid smoothly open. Clearly it was in far better condition that the jury-rigged equivalents Ethan might be used to from his home dimension. Ildela on the other hand stepped into it with no care. -
Yeah, they look like similar technology but the models are distinctly different from other rikti weapons.

Regarding more than one person tossing grenades at once, I think it actually has a solution to that in place. More than once I've seen the message saying he's pacified again come up literally at the exact same time the message saying he's enraged does, and without me noticing the rather distinctive huge blue explosion around him that signifies a grenade landing. Now, unless people have some truly spectacular timing with that, and considering there's a significant delay between tossing the grenade and the message appearing that's highly improbable, I think it actually 'saves' the second grenade and applies it only when the first runs out. Only circumstantial evidence, but still.
Acids, though.... if I could reach through the internet and strangle people, the game would be down a few players by now. So many times, yelling and screaming in league chat for whoever has the acids to use them already... finally we give up and go kill the tube for more, possibly multiple times... once we FINALLY get all the portals down, some idiot pops up in league chat with 'hey I have two acids... what do I do with them?' or something similar. Missing it once, I could understand. But missing the whole league shouting at them for minutes on end, they'd have to either not have league chat in their tab (Note: It's put into the top tab of the main chat window by default) or deliberately be ignoring it. That or be too stupid to notice the words 'use', 'acid', 'on' and 'portals' in various combinations and realise the meaning.
Apologies for ranting. -
I saw at one point an illusionist with the decoys coloured to look like Longbow mobs and it actually made me do a double-take for a moment.

Quote:There would be only a brief moment of disorientation as he stepped through what was apparently not the solid wall of black that it appeared. He walked through into what looked like the entrance of an average warehouse. Average by Paragon standards anyway. The only sign of this being a nightclub was the music. Faint at this distance, but definitely the music of a nightclub. Behind him, he would see a familiar black wall in the doorway he just came from.
Out of pleasent options ethan stepped into the van and headed onward to this D place and a number of strong drinks, with any luck...
"And here I was starting to think you'd chickened out", Ildela commented with a grin from over where she was leaning against the opposite wall. "Welcome to the D. Or at least the entrance of it, the club itself is upstairs. Come on, I'll show you." She gestured to the only other exit to the immediate area, a corridor leading around a corner away from the doors. "It's the elevator at the end, the other doors lead to other parts of the city."
-----------
Ildela watched the dragon launch into the air at seemingly impossible speed. "I still don't understand how they do that...", she commented to herself before turning and following the police to whichever vehicle they cared to put her in. She offered no resistance, but her shield remained up. "For what it's worth, they're right about not being responsible. The one that did it flew off just before you arrived. Hell, one of your guys probably saw her if they were paying attention. Looks just like me, wears a trenchcoat. And they guy that actually fired the missile she used, she took with her."
Admittedly, most including her would consider calling down the full force of the law on another dimension's version of yourself to be somewhat reprehensible. But Ildela knew her other self was quite capable of defending herself and evading the law if need be. The rest, she had no idea about. So directing attention away from them and onto her other self made sense, from that point of view. Of course, these police hadn't shown much inclination to listen as yet. -
The bartenders in Pocket D sell insps, you should be able to sell at least some stuff to them if you need to.

Quote:This here is precisely the reason the mobs in trials have higher base tohit. A softcapped blaster wasn't originally intended when they added IOs. Nor was softcapped anything really but it's a little more of a problem when the AT whose main weakness is their lack of any defensive powers can reach the point where nothing can hit them. And it's too late to take the defence bonuses away from IOs without annoying a whole heap of people. (Myself included) Thus, they have to compensate for it another way.
Thanks... so I basically need around 13-14% extra S/L defense to keep my Blaster softcapped... -
(( Apologies for the slow, I've been lazy and also occupied with issue 20. ))
Ildela wasn't particularly surprised when Ethan rapidly developed a death grip on her arm the moment he realised he was suddenly several stories up. It was a common reaction when first finding out they're suddenly airborne under no visible propulsion. Still, at least he hadn't fallen off. That would've been inconvenient.
Quote:"Pssh", Ildela replied, smirking. "That'd ruin the surprise, and where's the fun in that?" She gestured to the truck before going over and opening it, revealing... nothing. Not merely the inside of an empty truck, but literally nothing. The wall of the truck itself simply vanished mere inches from the door, consumed by a solid wall of black. "The D's in here", Ildela informed her companion. "Just walk through, don't worry. It's just an illusion to alleviate the disorientation, at least I think it is. Walking through the back of a truck on one side to a normal door on the other side is a little disconcerting for some people. But anyway." With that she casually hopped in, vanishing into the abyss inside.“ya, well that wasa kinda fun I guess, a tad more warning up front would be nice..“

Quote:“I would advise that everyone gets here or on their own transport now, it is not a good idea to stay where the enemy knows where we are”
Still, cooperating or not she wasn't about to just expose herself to being shot. A faint aura of energy crackled into existance around her, offering some amount of protection from the weapons currently pointed at her. Anyone with a reasonable amount of experience in Paragon would recognise it as a purely defensive shield. Likewise, the gremlins remained motionless beside her for the moment. "If it helps", she offered. "I actually am registered, just not in this particular dimension." She took a small ID card from a pocket and offered it to whichever officer came to collect it. Examination would prove it was an entirely legitimate Paragon City Hero ID, but no record of her would be found to match it. -
Count me in as supporting this.

Of all the complaints people have with Issue 20 and the various design decisions therein, I think this is possibly the single most valid. Why change it at all? More importantly, why is the 'classic' option not actually the same as the old UI? There's literally no reason to change it in the first place beyond consistency with the new league window, and even less reason to not leave the actual old interface as an option rather than this other equally new one. Maybe the guy who gave it the go ahead was blind?

Quote:This is essentially my point. Now that that advantage no longer has any meaning (Seriously, I join a trial and four or five people let off t3 or t4 destiny powers), I don't see why that hurdle needs to be there. All it now serves to do is add confusion and unnecessary tedium in converting them.
Threads only exist as a hurdle to those that built up a bunch of shards prior to i20 to gate content. -
Quote:Ideally yes, for exactly the reason you say. Personally I think the idea of giving an advantage to people with lots of shards piled up is a moot point now that Issue 20 is out and would be even more so by the time a patch like what I'm suggesting here came out. Considering that it wasn't even the end of the first day before the more obsessed players had tier 3 or 4 powers in one or more slots, possibly in part by converting all their stored shards regardless of the inf cost and 2:1 rate.Would you be able to convert shards to threads for free? If no then you're screwing over people with lots of shards who haven't crafted Alpha enhancements yet. If yes then you're giving a massive advantage to those with lots of shards that they threads were supposed to prevent
Regarding inf sinks, they would still be present in the recipes for making rare and very rare components for the new slots and the notice of the well for Alpha. And 100 million for a rare or a notice or 400 million for a very rare (Which itself requires all four rares, I think?) is a lot more significant than 2.5 million to convert 10 shards. To a lot of people, 2.5 million is pocket change. Admittedly the same applies to the 100 and 400 million costs, but a lot less people can claim that. -
Yeah, I know that sounds a little drastic. But, hear me out. I've heard from a lot of people that they don't like how in I20 you have to run the new trials to get the new powers or you're restricted to paying a ton of inf and taking literally forever to get anything. Many more dislike that we now have two currencies to do basically the same thing - sub-components to make the full components you need to craft powers. In my personal opinion the second is a more valid concern, but both would be solved or at least alleviated somewhat by what I'm proposing.
That is, to remove shards from the game entirely. Much like was done with base salvage, change all current shard recipes to make the old components to use threads. Make breakdowns give threads instead of shards. In effect, do a blanket find and replace so that everything that currently gives or needs shards will now give or need threads. The exception being leaving the existing conversion recipes in place and add one to convert a single shard to a single thread, for those who don't conveniently posess them in multiples of ten.
Thus people could convert shards they currently have into threads, and going forward we no longer have the confusion of the two seperate systems. There's still incentive to run the trials if you want the new stuff, because they'll still be a more effective way of obtaining threads in addition to obtaining components directly. But you won't have to run them because you could get threads elsewhere, albeit at a reduced rate. Mostly a QoL thing in that respect since you can already convert shards to threads but still. Mostly, it would just help to relieve the confusion a lot of people have over the three or four new currencies in this issue. The only possibly negative effect I can see would be people getting their Alphas faster by doing trials, but personally I think that's fair if doing the higher tier content, as such, gets you the lower tier rewards faster. If it really bothers people, they could always slap the same 'no alpha = negative level shift' effect on the trials as they have on the Apex and Tin Mage TFs.
Apologies for the wall of text. Anyway... comments? Ideas? Flames, dare I say it? -
Quote:The stalker waited a moment longer to make sure, but no it looked like everyone else was more inclined to go elsewhere or stay right where they were. So... "Guess we're on our own", she commented before rather abruptly launching herself into the air with Ethan in tow. She wasn't as good at flying with other people as her mother or her sister were, but she could do it when needed. Ethan would feel almost weightless - so long as he held on. If he didn't, he might find himself being introduced to the ground at high velocity.
Ethan wiped his mostly clean left hand on his pants leg and took the offered hand of Ildela.
Assuming he did though, the pair would be at the nondescript truck that contained the entrance to Pocket D within moments.

Quote:"Though for the record, people like me are not uncommon back home, we do not rule and command respect simply because we wield powers...”
As the detective approached she gave him a friendly wave, more acknowledging his presence than anything. She didn't say anything, though. She'd stick around just in case, but unless he asked her something she'd just stand around looking increasingly bored. -
Quote:I wouldn't call her unheroic as such, she's just not as... restrained, I guess would be the word, about the killing and the collateral damage as some of them are. That and she usually won't act until given a reason to care. Or until she gets bored, whichever happens first. (Hint: It's usually the boredom.)
Concerning Ethan and Ildela, I had pretty much figured that much from their clearly unheroic methods. -
To be fair, ingame Ildela is a rogue. She's not known for respecting laws, American or otherwise. So the legal consequences wouldn't really bother her in the slightest. Should they try to arrest her for the property damage or the murder, she'll likely just thumb her nose at them and vanish in a puff of logic.
-
Quote:"Oh, I never said we'd just leave it all lying around", the other Ildela answered, almost as if explaining to a child. She paused to give a nod to the two gremlins standing beside her and they immediately set about gathering up the various weapons left behind after the mad priest got himself exploded. "Just said we're not likely to just up and hand it over to you. So sorry, but you're not king **** around here like you might be in your own dimension. You might want to get used to that fact, people here don't fall on their faces and worship someone just because they have powers.
“Would someone care to explain why that might be a problem? If we leave it all just laying around here it’s only a matter of time before another Anathema shows up to try and claim it all, and you saw the damage one did here.”
Quote:“If this were civilisation the peasants would be bowing to me” Mirel muttered under her breath, not liking uppity mortals one bit.

Quote:"oh the names Ethan by the ways, now Mz Robot ,where is thisa Poo-Keet D yous mentioned ?, whats the cost in Caps from a clean drink of something smooth?" -
Quote:"Yup", Ildela replied cleerfully. "Welcome to Paragon City, the only place on Earth where superpowered people outnumber normal people and possibly the one true center of the universe. Since everything and everyone of any note seems to end up here eventually." From the way she said it, it was fairly certain she was joking about at least some of that. "Seriously, though. This city attracts the weird and the wonderful. And there's as many theories why as there are people in the city. But anyway, I believe I promised you a meal. Sans bugs and radiation."
“ So is this level of ..” he glanced around “ conflict the norm for these parts ? ..and for the wackiness of folks, I mean I’va seen few place, but this seems extreme..”
Quote:"I'm Ineloo by the way. Halfling, Dragonmarked, security and wealth redistribution specialist."
"Oh and if anyone cares, I usually go by Ildela", she added to the crowd in general.
"As do I", came a second voice from the direction of the now safely on the ground tram car. Anyone looking in that direction would see another woman who looked almost exactly the same aside from having her hair cut differently and wearing a different outfit. Behind her trailed her two gremlins, and further back a few confused citizens who'd been in the tram had joined the slowly dispersing crowd. "Long time no see", she told the first Ildela as she came closer.
"Isn't it just", the first replied. "How've you been?"
"Oh, not that bad. Boyfriend ran off on me, got dragged into an alternate dimension... you know. The usual", she answered, in a vaguely sarcastic manner.
"Well, I told you he was going to eventually. But whatever." The stalker shrugged quietly.
Quote:"All this First Age Tech” She paused, gesturing at where Mechano’s hologram had been. “Really needs to get shipped back to the Realm, for the good of Creation of course.” -
Quote:"I dunno, it might mean more than you'd expect", Ildela spoke up, looking over at the robot. "I mean sure, as far as I know there's no Cybertron in this dimension. Is in a few others, though." How she knew that was anyone's guess but she seemed confident enough. She may have been about to go on but the touchdown of a sizable assault robot, this one of a more familiar design, drew her attention.
"Not that that'll mean much around here, I wager."
As did the hologram which it projected. "Mechano. Why am I not surprised", the stalker commented. Clearly she'd run into the scientist before.
Quote:"...and I can get my regular four hours sleep once a week without worrying about half of Paragon being exploded." -
Quote:At present, once of them was busy extricating herself from a minor crater in the side of a building. Or more precisely, gliding down from said crater to land almost right beside Ethan before taking a look around. Noting the civilians pitching in and lacking any useful medical training or experience of her own, she figured she'd leave them to it. "In hindsight, hijacking that missile might've been a bad idea", she commented, mostly to herself.
He also kept half an eye open for what the other crab beast fighters where up to.
--------------
Meanwhile inside the downed tram car, Ildela was attempting to get out. With the power cut they of course didn't open automatically, so she and her two summoned gremlins had to resort to attempting to pry them open. Which went about as well as one might expect, a human with no more than normal human strength and a pair of insubstantial lightning monsters trying to open a door that in its natural unpowered state very much wanted to remain closed. Suffice to say, they remained where they were for now until someone lent a hand in getting the doors open. And probably more importantly, until the giant robot put the tram car down. -
The explosion right in front of her flung Ildela away, spinning end over end in the air before coming to a quite sudden halt against the side of a nearby building. Her shield flashed dangerously around her as it absorbed the majority of the impact. "Ugh... gonna feel that one in the morning", the stalker grumbled to herself. "Totally worth it though."
Quote:Given that most superpowered beings in Paragon could quite comfortably take a rocket to the face and live, there really could be some doubt in some people's minds. A look around from where she was showed no sign of him though, so Ildela figured he'd either been killed or was sneaking away in an effort to not be killed. Either way he was no longer and immediate problem. For the moment she didn't move from where she was, trusting the others to save any endangered tram cars as she shook the spots out of her eyes and the ringing out of her ears. There could be no doubt in anyone's mind as to the fate of the so-called soldier of the Most High.
----------------
Meanwhile inside the tram car, the other Ildela lacked Amatus' ability to take the coward's way out and phase through the wall. When the man spoke she looked out the front of the car to see, among other things, a familiar face. She'd have to say hi later. Right now though, she had bigger problems. Namely that the tram was about to crash. Making a split second decision she leapt into the air and pressed herself against the roof of the tram, pushing upwards with all the strength she could muster.
Which, sadly, was nowhere near enough to actually make the tram fly. She could and did, however, slow its fall considerably so as to give it a smoother and hopefully less dangerous touchdown. She may have even managed to take enough effective weight off the tram that Ineloo's net would be able to hold under the remainder. And if not, the Transformer could undoubtably at least lower it to the ground safely after catching it, if not actually hold it up. -
Quote:Unfortunately, throwing someone capable of flying at an explosive object and expecting their path to remain unchanged just really isn't very sound logic at all. "How rude", Ildela muttered, slowing just very slightly so the missile roared past her rather than hitting her and then taking off after it with all the speed she could muster. Enough speed in fact to catch up to it, albeit with a little coughing from inhaling some of the exhaust by accident.
With heartless cruelty, he literally struck two birds with one simple move by lobbing his passenger away into the path of the incoming missile.
She then proceeded, as was often her style, to do something highly ridiculous. That is, she grabbed the missile out of the air and tucked it under one arm, fighting with it a little as she flew to stop it rocketing out of her grasp. With it secure she again took off, this time in pursuit of the zealot running along the tracks. "Hey, I think you dropped this!", she called to him as she came level with him. And assuming he didn't at the very least duck, she proceeded to quite literally slap him in the face with it. Ignoring entirely the fact that this would undoubtably cause it to explode right in front of her in a most unsafe fashion.
(( Sorry, the idea crossed my mind and I just had to. )) -
Quote:(( A madwoman, obviously.
“oh for frucks sake, who the heck gets close to a madman...” ))
Quote:"What manner of attack is this? Thy wishes to seduce a soldier of the Most High?"
