I was referring to Hero2, he used to just post yes or no in topics

Hallelujah!

I think Techbot is covering my point rather well a proper AI upgrade is not going to be a easy task (by easy i mean take a short time to implement)

[/ QUOTE ]
Unless you are both an expert on the game engine and AI I don't know how you know this.

[/ QUOTE ]

Because the game is probably coded in C++, like the majority of other games in existence. This can give us some model to guess how they're going to design an engine and it's capabilities.

How he knows specifically, i don't know.

O.O

So you can justify your posts! I knew it.

Yeah, AT LEAST a few lines of spoken text per NPC. For example, when you initiate a chat with them, they say 'What do you want!?' or something.

Or better yet, even speak their lines! :O In proper voices!
4. Slowing down a run speed is not walking. You still do the 'run animation' as far as i'm aware.

They need to invent a walk animation, that makes you walk, and at the speed of a walk.
5. I'm not concerned whether something is hard for the devs, i'm concerned whether it's worthwhile investing time in X project over Y project.

If it turns out the devs can make something cooler, flashy and that players will enjoy, then go for that option. If not, what better to do than make a walking emote? (besides develop future issues)

I don't want TheMess to take this personally, but i really don't care about how he plays.

When a game is upgraded, it needs to be upgraded to compete regardless of the members playing it.

NCsoft game L2 did it (brought in 'dungeons' instances despite the fact one of the major selling points was that there were no instances and it was 1 huge world map)

Runescape upgraded it's gfx and there are probably tons of people who can't run the 'HD' version of it now. Now are you honestly trying to tell me the developer studio at NCsoft can't compete with JAGEX of all people?

No they aren't. Something can be easy to implement, but take ages because you have to write thousands of lines of code.

In another instance, it may be difficult to pull off because of the complexity of formulas for example, but only require a few lines of code.

.....
If something takes an inordiante ammount of time, how can you classify that as 'Easy'?
...Out of Cheese error; melonmelonmelon; reboot from start.

[/ QUOTE ]

Use your imagination some, would you? There are tons of things that are easy but take lots of time, for example playing COV toons to 50.

Your problem is you're making the mistake of conflating easiness with short amounts of time. Just because something is easy, does not mean it takes a short amount of time or vice versa.

if wishes were beluga whales...There'd be alot more whales....In this case, more happy players.

What are the chances of the designers telling the devs to implement this lot?

Audio Re-Vamp

What if they were beluga whales?

Maybe there should be another huge patch with all these uber revamps we want.

The ability to walk
new sound revampage
looping emotes
Awesome!
11. VISTA!?!?!?!? Vista is, in your words, a blasphemy.
12. I'm not concearned whether it's easy to implement or not. I'm concearned with is it possible, and can it be done in a reasonable amount of time.

And just because there has been erroneous changes to AI in the past does not mean future changes will be so. Just because mistakes can be made, does not mean they will.
13. Yeah, +1 to walk please! Someone SHOULD suggest this.

I know, i've heard it, but when you go talk go him in his little hideout, he says nothing!
15. Of course you're going to run the game smoothly if you run it on minimum GFX, your GPU has almost no work to do.

I want Lord Recluse to have an epic voice, like the guy from unreal tournament 3, or some thing like that :3

Either way, signed!

I know NPCs in 2moons talk, and that game is EPIC in terms of pve.
17. I'm not saying mobs should ALWAYS run if engaged in melee, i'm saying when the fight 1st begins they should put some distance between the player and them.
18. Hey, if there is already a workaround for this i apologise in advance.

Ok so, we all know /emote talk loops, and u and another toon can have a fat old conversation for ages.

In my experience, /disagree and /explain, /lecture don't loop. Am i doing something wrong? Is there a way to loop them?

If this ISN'T the case, i'd look for more social emotes to be..loopy. There is a great social side to this game, more so than any other mmo in terms of emotes, and i think i'd be alot more convenient than having to retype them.

Again, if there is already a way to do this, my bad.
19. That doesn't mean you can't have a computer that will run future games. My old pc is over 2 years and can still run crysis on high settings.
20. <blockquote><font class="small">En réponse à:<hr />
But what your talking about would require rebalancing of the entire game its not just a simple matter of change AI so mobs stay at a distance/ go get help im not saying these things wouldn't be nice but I don't see them working with the current set up.

I think if you were implementing what your suggesting then the ATs and power sets would need a over hall at the moment we have simple AI to go with simple power sets. Increase the AI you need to up the power sets as well melee toons would need means of catching/stopping/killing runners which is some thing many melee sets don't have at the moment.

Ranged based toons would have a huge advantage over melee as well so they would probably need nerfing

[/ QUOTE ]

No it wouldn't require any rebalancing at all. Any ranged mob would get 1-2 hits on a brute before the brute was in their face with CJ, SJ, SS or even sprint, then ba, 1-2 hits and they're down.

It's not like we're saying give ranged mobs SS and tell them to constantly backpedal whilst blasting nukes.

We're simply suggesting they fall back to a range where they can get their moves out. Any good brute would still be able to shatter them in a matter of seconds.

You're making this out to be a bigger deal than what everyone is suggesting.
21. @LostNinja, thanks, some good points

I knew an engine upgrade isn't totally impractical at this stage
22. I see your points, but i won't have sympathy for anyone running a prehistoric PC. PC technology doubles every 10 years, if you need to take out a loan to get a beasty old pc, do it. It's a worthwhile investment.
23. So change it

Things need updating, and i'm sure it's not out of NCsoft's financial ability to invest enough to get it done.
