Was Heatcomb the only purple to make it to the market? Usually there are things left out that are latter posted by a player...

Quote:This...The word microtransaction and people's visual of that often does not match up with today's game store prices. That is mainly because the "micro" in many transactions left the model long ago and people just have not caught on totally yet...It's a evolution pain so to speak.
EDIT: micro left when the PM hit CoX... -
Iunno...
Alot of this stuff I dont like. I'm glad that the storages FINALLY went on sale, but i feel like they marked that one in the lesser category (discount wise) knowing how many people wanted it so they profit more. I am more than a little disappointed.
Im indifferent to purples being on the market, to be frank, I dont care. the folks that still want purples that would not want to spend real money for them will still to purchasing them in game on the black market. People like me that dont care one way or the other and just want a set just to have, I'd probably buy it from the PM, not the BM. For those that buy inf and what not fall into both of these crowds.
Is it cheaper to buy inf outside the game than it is paying for the market? This is where Paragon needs to start thinking from when putting things like purples on the market.
Also the xp boosters are insanely stupidly high even with discounts. I for one will not be buying any of those. I'd rather pay for the super packs (due to variety of rewards) which I am pretty pissed about atm anyway. I have bought over 4, maybe 5 of those packs and have yet to get the only vanity pet I wanted, "The Black Wolf." So out of 96-120 chances to get the damn thing and still have not received it... Needless to say I am pretty upset about this, so I am pretty much done with buying that pack altogether. -
Quote:He had us chasing him in Warburg yesterday, remember? Well that was ZwilWow, you've been working on a staff fighting powerset? How did you manage to keep that a secret for so long?
Quote:I haven't even finished working on my Beast Master character yet and you release ANOTHER powerset that I have to use POINTS to GET?!?!?!
But staves will def keep me occupied in the meantime. I think we need another AS animation on the stalker build and better sound effects, but the set is gorgeous and performs quite well. -
Was it just me or did Swan seem harder than Tyrant? lol
-
Quote:I could not have said this better myself... Hence the quote. Staff should have been released before beast mastery, it STILL has tons of bugs. I reported a color customization bug myself just days ago, but there are more than that wrong with the set, but staves had little to no issues.I think Soul_System missed the memo that Beast Mastery was released live with A LOT OF BUGS that apparently were not addressed/fixed while still in Beta. If Staff Fighting was largely ready to go and they instead released a set that was still buggy, regardless of what set it is?
Yeah, that's going to induce a lot of rage.
I admit, I raged quite a bit at it. At the end of the day, there's nothing else I (or anyone else) can do but wait. Point is, I wouldn't blame the people raging over not getting Staff Fighting. At least, not too much... -
Quote:TBh I see that to be the DUMBEST reason to hold a set. If they want something special for the Anniversary then they should MAKE something for that purpose and advertise it as such. To hold a set that has been in testing so long for that reason is... (at a loss for words). They should do more vanity pets or costume piece pack or w/e, these are more reasonable things for an anniversary celebration, along with things like the chalice and zone events.I don't know one way or the other, but remember that the 8 year anniversary takes place on the Saturday the 28th, and it's not completely unfeasible that they'd do a special Paragon Market release on that day.
I'd rather they not wait that long, but it is within the realm of possibility. -

Quote:How does it not fit the genre of game? Heroes and villains alike wear all sorts of things from those items mentioned to much much more. You forgot that Ghost Rider wore motorcycle gear... the villain in Leprechaun, I can continue if you wish... Or did I miss something? This, apparently, can't be repeated often enough. Jetpacks before Pilgrim Hats, please. Make the items everyone expects before you make the items nobody wants.
And you seriously spent the time and money to make an item that's an in-joke reference marketed only to those who both saw and liked a particular comedy from eight years ago? A comedy that has nothing to do with superheroes, even? You could have made any of the pets that actually appear in superhero comic books -- as if, for instance, a version of Shadowcat's dragon wouldn't be an insanely popular item -- and you went with this?
I would love for CoH to be around forever, but you routinely make the most bewildering marketing choices possible. Please stop pursuing any and all items that don't fit the genre of the game you're selling. Thank you.
EDIT: Ah Nevermind I see you were talking to the devs, not the posterBravo!
EDIT 2: To add to the list of things on demand those Outfits of the Sybils in Cim, Scirocco's waist piece for males, longer hair for males, some other accessories from mirror spirit, better trenchcoats, etc... -
And with what Knight said I will end it there without a reply to the other guy...
Anyhoo, as far as these pets go. I would buy them, but they are too expensive still for a vanity pet, even account wide. I would like others that fly, but I would rather see costume pieces on the market weekly than I would vanity pets. Try hair, different capes, auras there's a ton of things that would be better than vanity pets...
Thats all I am sayin... -
The thing I dont get about this so-called "fear of clowns" is how did Carnies ever make it to the game and stay there? Also it's a stupid reason, that's like me saying I have a fear of spiders as a developer at PS and decide to wipe the Arachnos VEATS and the mobs from the existence of the game...

Whoever that was should be hung by there genitals from the worlds highest tree... That ebil person u_u

Quote:Yeh I got that much, I was joking, but... I did see a clown in Atlas with his powers being listed as Clowns Summoning: Summoning Happy Clowns and he was sonic. How did that happen? or was it a fluke/bug? And for the record I saw the Clown summoning and sonics font were highlighted in blue. The Clown power set (and everything else shown on April 1st--aka April Fool's Day) was a joke. It will not be released, at least not anytime in the near future... they are NOT releasing a power set that hasn't been tested on beta. FYI, Positron (the lead developer, not the NPC) is apparently terrified of clowns, which is why the joke keeps resurfacing.
Quote:As far as Staff Fighting not being released, I'm of the opinion that they're putting together a Weapon Pack for it like they did with Titan Weapons, and will put it in the store once that's been finished. -
Ok we'll see... Thing is I will not be replying to anyone that does quote it for that nature. I am basically stating that they would be wasting their time in quoting it for that reason.
Quote:To answer your question about the re-posted items: they have done that since the beginning. It is just a reminder of the last couple things to hit the market, nothing more. -
Can someone please explain the purpose of the reposted items on the market. One's like Beast Mastery and below. I'm at work right now and I HOPE that those are typos/misposts or something and hope clowns was actually supposed to be there among a few other things. I too am disappointed that beast mastery did not get a male lion and most of all that staves are not available once again. And to those that decide to quote my post in an attempt to defend the devs/producers save it for another time.
I am a very patient person, but I feel as if we are being pushed/tested as to how many people will keep wasting 5 bucks for a vanity pet with no purpose and by making these things toggles leads me to believe there will be TONS more in the future. These vanity pets are getting out of hand and I for one am done with buying them!
EDIT: At least it looks like they have thought about a uniform in pet price... Still 5 bucks is a bit more than a microtransaction to me... $2.50 or less would be ideal for a pet that sits and scratches its behind while I do all the work. -
That depends how much you like to be pursued or chased down by certain bosses. That's when the ST hold really shines. dunno about you but as a squishy character I dont like to be hit by bosses, therefore I lock em down. The mass hold is too much end and no damage, not to mention slow recharge and the weird disorient animation that makes me think are they held? *shrugs and commences butt whoopins*

Quote:That's interesting, because I am tier 9 and have been and I never seen 550 PP I always seens 400. I will go to my master account and double check as i dont ever recall 550. Ty for the reply though...Tier 9 VIPs get 550pp as their stipend per month. So tiers 1 through 8 get 400pp a month, Teir 9s get an extra 150 points a month.
EDIT: OIC It's noted as bonus with the completed 400 points. That would be a cool thing to add to balance VIP and F2P an additional amount of points per full subscribed year with you PP, instead of the other discount option I mentioned, that could be a simple fix. -
Quote:I know I do, my St hold is my damage power on most if not all of my trollers, due to containment, with doms too, with exception of fire. The ST holds do really good damage in tandem with assault powers and to keep a boss locked down. You actually use your ST hold? Outside of the occasional need to lock a boss down, between my always up fear and usually up aoe hold + +2 holdproc, things tend to be pretty locked down tight. I can easily solo -1/7 (I havent tried 0 or +1 yet), and find it to be quite enjoyable.

Quote:Gotcha.I can agree with you that the handling of pricing and decisions about what goes to Market can be improved.
However, I was arguing against the point that VIPs should get all powersets free otherwise our VIP status means nothing. VIP status means picking out for free a good chunk of extra content at no extra cost as well as still enjoying the 3 no-extra-cost Issues.
Yeh don't misunderstand my opinion/points/arguements I am not asking that we VIP's should get everything free. I am fine with micro-transactions, that's what gets us more content, more powers and more more more. I am in total disagreement with the presentation or roll out, if you will, of the fluctuating pricing scale. That and I still believe that the market should have, at least, another 10% or so extra discount to listed items for subscribed members. I think that to be fair and not alot to ask for along with the uniformity of pricing, Then perhaps F2P will see a reason to go VIP and Paragon can make more money to develop more content, powers, etc.
EDIT: ALso where is everyone getting this 400-550 PP I only see a consecutive 400 per month, unless I missed something more recent...
Also I would like to have the option of choosing which powerset I'd like to receive free, even if I have to wait for its release. IE Dark Control came out, beautiful set, and I would have bought it anyway but I would have selected staves as my prime choice of power, I am a melee person at heart, what can I say.
Quote:Originally Posted by Noobian_PrinceOut of curiosity, where do you see the dividing line for this proposed "subscription discount" ? You're saying "I've been subscribed for 7+ years; I deserve some kind of 'loyalty reward'." Overlooking the fact that there HAVE been loyalty rewards in the past (which as a 7+ year subscriber, you've already received), does that mean the reward won't go to 7 year subscribers? Or if it does, what about the 6 year olds, or even 5 year players? Where do you draw the line between "worthy" and "unworthy" ?
Maybe you're feeling generous and would apply it to anyone who was a paid subscriber from before F2P. So new subscribers would NEVER get the discount? Nice discrimination there.
How about FORMER subscribers who come back? Do THEY qualify?
I'm going to stop here. I think my head is starting to spin.
EDIT: Also you need to read what i said to Zombie and you will see you have misunderstood what I was talking about in general... -
Quote:I concur! The necro pets used to annoy the hell out of me when they ran into melee to toss out gloom then used melee attacks sometimes they even used to just depend on gloom w/o using the melee attacks, that was of course until GoTo was issued then that def recorrected the Melee issue, but now I rarely use that command with my Necro pets. Lich is by far the smartest in that set, the Lt's and even the dumb bottom feeders act pretty well in combat and when to get in or out of melee.Interestingly enough, Necromancy AI is just about perfect. The T1 and T2 Zombies start with their ranged attacks, then run in for melee. The Lich however is the real shining star. He stays almost perfectly still with changing targets. I'd have to assume Demons is in a similar position.

Quote:Zombie, you are usually looked to as the old grandmother (no offense) of this community on issues like these, I respect that, and I also agree with you when you say we should pay for the extra (as I am not crying that we should get everything free as VIP's). There should be a uniformity with pricing, VIP's should have different rates on top of what you quote to be a discount as the 400 is more of a Thank you for staying VIP. That would be like going to a club and reserving a VIP table but you dont have to pay for the 250 dollar bottle of booze as a minimal to get that booth, could be a bad example, but I think you know where I am coming from with using it.No.
The Points you receive are so you can get the extras at no extra cost. With the Points they give you, you can get 6 new power sets a year at no additional cost. Plus whatever extra free stuff is in the 3 no-additional-cost Issues you get.
You're getting more now than you did before.
But they're producing more stuff on top that than they've ever done before. If you want it all, you have to pay extra... like you did for Booster Packs.
VIPs did *NOT* lose anything in the shift to FREEDOM, instead, they *gained.*
That point is a fact.
I fail to see how VIP's actually gain from this. I would have rather seen them provide us with an option as to what we want our free set to be versus them picking it for us on top of the price uniformity. It's sad as I am sure you admitted the same thing that a vanity pet like the little green fellah that did not drink green beer and puke rainbows cost as much as a new powerset for a very minor inf buff, then we get other pets that cost 600, 400 and w/e else and they are much more of a liability with detoggling toons of their mez defenses etc, but their abilities are a bit more useful. -
Really? You are really wanting to go there with this? You seem to forget that GR was a PAID expansion, not free... That being said the powersets that came with that expansion had already been accounted for in the price of the game. It was like prepaying for the sets with a credit card, while still collecting the monthly fee. So I would say unsavory...

Quote:I see where you are coming from, but i will agree to disagree with the labels you place on VIP player. The I see what you say regarding the loose term guard players. I could say the same thing for premium players that dont have enough cash TO afford a monthly subscription or to be plain, don't want to pay one at all, which btw this was me prior to subscribing to coh.Yes, but how many? You can be sure that Paragon studios management is combing through the statistics of who buys what and how frequently.
Premium players, who purchase microtransactions at essentially random intervals, are much more likely to act on impulse. VIP players have monthly stipends, so they're more likely to plan ahead and more likely to feel entitled. This translates to few or no microtransaction purchases. If a Premium player spends more than $10/month then he's spending more than a default VIP player. (Most VIP players are old guard players, and they have a yearly subscription.) The VIP players who purchase additional points in addition to their monthly subscription are a very small minority.
I have one rule: I will only pay one subscription for a MMO.
I refuse to pay multiple subscriptions and the day I leave CoH for another MMO, will be because of the rule I have in place.
With that said, others that are premimum players can purchase what hey want and enjoy it for their limited funds or for whatever reason they have for not being a subscribed VIP.
Quote:With their impulse purchasing habits, lack of a PP stipend, and majority population in the game, Premium players are much more attractive to the upper managers who make marketing and pricing decisions.
Quote:Why cater to the smaller population of entitled and stingy VIPs? Drive them into Premium; you get to train them to be impulse buyers and soak more money out of them. -
Quote:Ok, I'll bite...You're laboring under the assumption that they WANT more people to go VIP. In reality, they make more money via microtransactions, which mostly come from Premium players. From my perspective as a VIP they are doing everything they can to convince me not to subscribe any longer.
They don't want subscribers. They just want money. The way that they are pricing new content proves that Premium players are worth more money to them than VIPs.
Assuming this was true, you'd think from a marketing stand point my previous statement would be the ultimate goal of what PM is or was supposed to be, Paragon Studios wants money, like everyone else. They make more money from VIP subscribers that BUY more points like F2P and still pay their subscription, and I am sure there are many out there that think this way.
"I get this powerset for free as F2P has to pay for it, then I have to pay for staves and beast mastery, not to mention I want the imperial dynasty, pocket D, roman, and super hero/villians super packs."
^that way they pocket their monthly subscription AND the purchases off the market... your logic in the way they'd rather have premium players is partially flawed.
