LOL I was in RV with my 45 elec/stone brute and was fighting an energy/regen FoTM stalker, I pretty much just ignored him, farmed my purples while he kept trying to kill me. This was before the ET animation change. He got bored and tried killing my Spider. I was not having that so I keeled him with the Heavy and helped do the damage, after TPing him into a corner he could not escape (blocked it with my heavy and me in granite with mud pots running.

Just sounds like madness lol -- then again that's what usually happens when you multiply a set so many times.
Yeh I'm gonna go with dark/dark troller...

8 Umbra's with all that AoE
    8 Shadow falls
8 Darkest Nights (rest assured no one will get hit stacked with the shadow falls)
    8 Fluffies!
    16 Haunts
    8 Soul Absorptions
    8 Fades

Easily reach defense/res/regen/recovery cap effortlessly, not tomention the controls and the heals fluffy provides, the -regen in Howling twilight. I could go on but I have to clean my pants after the thought of an all dark/dark troller super team.

    EDIT 2:

I think I will give it a third shot u_u...

Think I will make a rad/fire def, since I have 1 of every troller set made and lvld and I'd rather get the rad powers out the way early on, so def would probably work best here vs the ice/rad cor I tried and fire/rad troller. Cross yer fingers folks, lol.

The regen bonus is very helpful inside granite when you get in a real pinch. I would never skip rooted, but to each his own.

To the OP I would go with staves. The Form of body and Soul really help against the -dmg -rech penalties while in granite. I currently have a lvl 33/34 tanker and he is pretty fun (I also get a kick out of it when he is breakdancing in granite armor). Also as a brute fury and form of the body/soul will def offset the -dmg/-rech in granite. This would probably be the best build for a /stone brute for the forms. I had an elec/stone brute and it was pretty slow to lvl, but this tank, kicks butt.

Add in 3 slots to swift for mobility and some IO slotting for more movement and recharge and you should be golden. Thats just my two cents.

    EDIT:

However I would not really recommend staves for real PvP maybe RP PvP. Stone armor is pretty bad for pvp as well, without mobility you'd be kitted by a flock of defs and blasters/cors/troller... you get the picture. most melee would avoid a battle with a stone tanker/brute because of its survivability.

Frankly I dislike the idea of it being a toggle. I can see why they made Dimension Shift a toggle, because it's an effect that you may very well want to end early.

There's absolutely no reason for you to want this power to end early though, and in fact being a toggle makes it WORSE because now enemy mez shuts it off.

I'd frankly prefer it were just a standard place and forget power, with a reasonable recharge.

The toggle aspect makes no sense.
Wait. This is not a damage toggle so why would it shut off if mezzed? The only toggles that currently shut off when mezzed are ones that effect enemies, like choking cloud, the damage auras etc. The other toggles that benefit the caster and allies usually stay on even if they are mezzed.

EDIT: Whurps I saw someone else beat me to it lol.

LOL that was my first encounter too! They conned white, yellow and orange to me. So you can imagine what happened. I pretty much ran in the mob with my scrapper, saw the power, my jaws dropped and I pretty much stared my SR scrapper to death waiting to see the power again ontop of the earth ones.

I almost feel like this is the true point to this arguement too. I made a similar arguement regarding short green guy, throwing around 10% extra inf, and guess what? I still don't have the little guy, simply because he was really not worth his price. However, I did pick up the panther power as I have three or four toons I could use the power for, so I got it.
  8. Yeh the only beef I have, besides overcrowding the market with vanity pets early on, is the part about detoggling your protection. I understand that the power trays will not be accessable during the pet power because of lack of animations with many click powers or attack animations in the game, but for armors and other toggles that are merely cosmetic with no animations to be turned off, makes me hate the vanity pets more than some appeal to me.

    Water Blast!

It appears not many of you have seen the NPC water powers, not speaking of Corolax, but moreso the 50++ content in DA, mainly the Prophetesses. They have giant over-sized powers and the water effects are pretty damn awesome. I forget which arc they first appear in, Max maybe?

    • that's not everbody else's Midnight; and,
    • we're not at work at Midnight to make sure it happens
And thus, you're beginning with Greenwich's Midnight (and a good choice) while you're still at the office. A wise decision.

However, ending it at 4 PM PT on Friday is not so wise for a program called Freebie Friday for anyone in the world who is not living in London's time zone. People in the rest of the world will get home from work or school on Friday, log into in the game to claim the reward and, WHAAAH whahhhhh, no freebie item.

You will then deal with innumerable claims of you going around nazi slapping everyone in the clock face because they missed out on a Freebie Friday even though it is actually Friday for them. Mark my words, ending Freebie Friday before 12 PM on Friday in at least Pacific Time (should actually go to 6 AM Saturday PT for the islanders) will be very complaintful when the time comes and goes.

A full 'global day' is 48 hours long. Any offer you do should ideally be that long, or, at least, 36 hours long.
I am inclined to agree with this post entirely.

At least that's how I interpreted Zwillingers response to "getting something pulled from a hat":

"Ideally, we want to do that, but alas tis not the case with the pilot program as it would require engineering time. "
That poses a problem to people that would already have that item, if this is indeed the method. Unless of course the pull from a hat reference is the one random item from the PM.

In the past, subscription was the only way to play and there was no official way to spend more money to advance in the game more quickly. There were sound reasons for these limits; breaking them is bad for the game. If players can spend money to win they have no reason to stay loyal. They have less skill, have put in less effort so they value their accomplishments less, and they can easily switch to another Pay-to-win game. The turnover in Pay-to-win games is so high that it would make a game manager from the year 2000 crap their pants.

But today's game developers don't care about managing their game competently, they care more about maximizing their revenue. That's why Pay-to-win has become commonplace, and why the average gamer bounces between three or four games a year instead of staying loyal to just one.

CoX is trying to walk a thin line, allowing some Pay-to-win exchanges but hoping that their players stay loyal. I expect them to fail someday. They can't juggle their players conflicting urges forever.
I find that to be your opinion, not taken as fact. I have bought many things off the PM, that does not encourage me to quit the game any faster. I play the game cause I like the game, not because I have a desire to have everything in it before I quit. When I do decide to leave coh I will just go F2P. I am a loyal customer and have always been, I've paid my sub and bought my share of points when I had the extra cash or I wanted something I knew I could afford.

I also play the game because I like the community and I have many friends that I play with and that I have referred to the game. I dont play ANY other MMo that requires a subcript fee. I have voiced this before and I will do so again: I refuse to pay more than one sub fee for an MMO. CoX is my preferred MMO. The day I leave is the day PS does something I really dont agree with and that will be my final days with CoX and possibly anything else they decide to make in the future, as I am one of those customers you rub the wrong way, you'll never have to worry about seeing another penny from me ever again...

I dont know where you are getting that from when the information in the post says "almost anything available in the PM" Not that I think you are too far off, but you know... I had to point that out.

    Also squee!

...Wait! I did not come here to enjoy myself with the information I just read. I came here to complain >

    Complain, complain, complain, COMPLAIN!!!!

There. Now that that is out of the way I do have a mind boggling question: Am I able to win something I already have? Assuming a costume piece would be awarded (I gather it would be something like this vs winning a whole costume pack). Will my freebie be wasted? Or will the system recognize this and move on to something else? I understand this is a test phase, but I am a tad curious about this early on. Also is this accountwide one time or character specific (not including account wide items)
  20. What will be happening? Powerslide will FINALLY hit the PM?

I'm not the one confused. And that is exactly how many people are quoting pay to win as bought from PM.

A rich kid that just entered the game could buy purples with his wallet. He couldn't do it with in-game money. That's why it's called 'Pay to win'.
I still dont see a difference... Many of you fail to realize that people "pay to win" and have been before the PM. There were outside sources that sold in-game inf for sooooo long and still do. People that have purchased inf from an outside source and still bought them off WW or BM. Also for those that are paying real currency as a subscript fee already paying for inf they earn, so that too should be called pay to win. Hell in that light EVERYTHING should be pay to win.

Basically it just seems like people that gripe about not getting that 1 billion inf drop on BM or WW, labels purchases off of the PM as pay to win as an insult versus a technical term... I will admit I would be one to buy it from PM before I drop my inf on an overpriced purple on WW or BM, but rest assured those purchases will remain VERY slim...

It's funny how loosely people use the term "pay-to-win" when it comes to Purple IO sets on the market, when you are doing the exact same thing with WW and BM in-game... I dont get the referrence...

Now regarding availability via other methods, after a set time have the Tier 9 VIP sets drop from Gold (Exclusive) status to Silver (Limited Alternate Availability) through to eventual Bronze (Now In Packs Etc.)

    Anyone else agree?

Only thing about that, you are stepping on PS toes in terms of "cashflow." I am almost positive that these rewards will hit the PM and I a fine with that, not because I am T9 VIP but because other players should have access to those items too. They have the ability to pay for them, but they choose not to, much like I have decided on alot of PM transactions. That is our choice as individuals.

So for those crying over these pieces: you either get the PP's to buy them or wait for them to come back. If I want something that badly, I get it, if I can afford it, otherwise I'll get it at a later date when it's best for me. Hell I am still waiting on Powerslide to hit the market, but I ain't paying 800 PP for it...
