Everything the devs have said suggests that incomplete missions are stored locally.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That seems rather risky in terms of people opening them in their own text / hex editors and fiddling with them. Bit of a can of worms.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would imagine 'locally' means on your home server. I would certainly hope so.

In fact they dropped it from these very forums (rating posters) because they were next to useless.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, they were removed because it's very easy to abuse them and various people were doing just that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Personally I'd equate something being "easy to abuse" to something being next to useless. And my point still stands, I don't see any reason this proposed new system won't be as equally open to abuse and equally useless.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I was just being pedantic.

You can make as many missions and arcs as you like, its only uploading that is limited. If a mission is poorly recieved you can take it down and you still have it: to work on and improve. Then when it's better you could put it up again.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd say all your missions will be "uploaded", as in stored remotely. It'd be silly to store them on the local machine on an MMO (for the reason the fact it'd invite people to hack them in some form to see what they can do ).

I think your chosen arcs will be Published and made public, not uploaded. So the comments about data size aren't really relevant.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, there seems to be an implication that the Mission Server is a specific 'box' and that it will be global, like the auction system. Hence uploading. Of course, that could be implemented as a reference to the database on your local server, thus spreading the storage load across a number of boxes, but somehow I'm guessing not.

Tech origin can explain current controler powers. I could invent a gravity device.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That was kind of my point. You can be perfectly human with a Tech origin.

Besides, while you could make a Natural (human) controller with this Tac Rifle, you'd be then stuck with Trick Arrow is a secondary which should make for a character that looks about as stupid as anything I can think of. I think a better reason is needed than 'so we can have normal humans who don't use high-tech gadgets.' (Though most of the crowd control weapons you are talking about can't be glued into one weapon without some very high-tech so the point is a little moot.)

It should be interesting to see whether NCNC will do any statistical distribution tests on the ratings that do get given, or whetehr they will simply assume that it all works simply due to it being 'democratic.'

As for the probability of the rating system, or the content unlocking rewards being changed prior to release: at this stage not a whelk's chance in a supernova.
  5. Aliens are natural origin, but I see your point. Except... that just means a 'natural' controller needs a Tech origin.
  6. Frankly, if the engine could handle changes in size, I think it would have been done when the scaling sliders were implemented.
  7. *shrug*

Oil slick does some knockdown as well. Quite a lot of control for a debuff set, but as you wish. (I'm not totally sure that there needs to be a distinction between those things really, but I guess it's the way they parcel up the goodies.)
  8. Hmmm... how about CoT minions, with Earth Thorn Casters? How annoying would that be for any hero coming across them.
  9. Entangling Arrow, Poison Gas Arrow, EMP Arrow...

because there are no weaponry control sets

    What's Trick Arrow then?

Sorry, he only gets to be in combat if he's gone rogue and the heroes get to beat him up too. I have a rather unflattering name for him involving ramrods and bottoms.

    Percy?

It's like you can read my mind...
  12. Sorry, he only gets to be in combat if he's gone rogue and the heroes get to beat him up too. I have a rather unflattering name for him involving ramrods and bottoms.
  13. Look at it the other way. If you make a big character, more foes can stand around you attacking. A max-sized huge character could easily have 6-8 (or even 10) attackers around them. A small character can have, maybe, 4 around them before the others have to stand back and may be out of range. Circumference grows with the square of your character's radius, so it is actually more logical that a bigger character should have more attackers in range.

I'll try to look at the figures sometime, but it's hard to keep focus on it in a combat with that many mobs attacking (and stay alive).
  14. Thanks folks. I figured I'd just give it a go sometime, but I didn't want to be stuck into a TF I was definately going to fail because some mob requires a ton of debuff or something.

Especially as the 'Cartel' have areputation in my mind for generally 'belittling' those less experienced than them, I apolgise for those that genuinaly don't do this but the two notable exceptions I can think of both happen to be female funnily enough

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, as soon as I hit 10k posts, I started getting people belittling me, Alphane. They would tell me I had no life, and accuse me of joining up with all the other high posting characters to put down the 'lesser' posters. Baring in mind that I was the second poster to get Forum Cartel, that says a lot about the people making the claims. Actually, I have my own opinions and I'm as likely to agree with something you've said as I am of agreeing with something (for example) Standoff has said.

Point is, as soon as you start posting a lot, you get people such as yourself putting you down because of it. I (used to) post a lot. Get over it.
  16. Ah, my pardon, I must have looked too quickly when I got CI.

CI isn't Invisibility, but it is better than Hyper Stealth.

HS gives +3500 Stealth and +2.5 DEF.
CI gives +5500 Stealth and +3.75 DEF.

As I recall, full invisibility gives +10000 Stealth, but then you can't do anything useful while using it.
  17. It's the first TF labelled thing I've seen that lets you do it solo.

    So, anyone done it?
What are my chances with a Kat/Regen Scrapper?

It just seems a waste of time to use slots on lower tier powers that no longer appear in my attack chain once I hit 35+

    [/ QUOTE ]

And so we have respecs. And still too many slots compared to useful powers

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you have useless powers you are doing something wrong. I have one attack I don't use very much. That's it. Don't ask the designers to solve your bad planning problems. And, yes, I can tell you don't care... enough to think about what you post.
  19. The crafting system is extremely basic, though theoretically capable of much greater complexity (the base system is more complex than the IO system, for example). The auction house economy is badly broken. I get this feeling that if people ever realise how much money they are losing selling things on the CH/BM some items are going to vanish entirely and others will suddenly have huge price hikes.
  20. I'm thinking the latter. The technology already exists.
  21. They can't put all game contacts in any building, but binding them to actual contacts doesn't work with the 'mission simulator' concept either.

Out of sheer curiosity, is there anywhere that lists the forum titles?

Thanks, seems to me that legend and renowned should be the other way around, surley being legendary is superior to being renowned?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It is, and believe me when I say that Renowned is superior to Forum Cartel.
  23. I can believe the "tanker without taunt" thing, that's a running forum 'debate'. And the healing bit, well, everyone knows how to heal better than an empath's player, well known fact. I don't PuG so I don't get it.

That said, I have been given 'advice' on how to play my part from people who can't do theirs...
  24. As long as they remember to put in a base item that lets you access the missions as well, they can do it anyway they like. (Currently saving up for my own time portal thingy.)

And the suggestion is a major redesign, not a QoL improvement.
